LD52 — Harvest

Not Mushroom for Error by TerraCottaFrog 2023-01-14T18:51:40Z

I think I did pretty well!

mushroom.png

This is a pretty well made and solid game! I was able to get quite far by mentally dividing the groups of edible mushrooms into their own categories. There was a period of time where every red mushroom and every white mushroom was edible, so I just rejected everything that did not meet those criteria. As time went on though, the memorization got quite tough. The visuals are expertly made and fit the game's simplistic nature very well, nicely done!

The Unidentified Flying Cat Burglars! by Krassenstein 2023-01-12T15:03:39Z

The movement controls are really slippery! This is a pretty cool game but I am having some issues running it, I could just be having a normal run and then the game just randomly force quits on me. It has happened four times now so I haven't been able to get a run that lasts that long :/. This game would be a lot better with just a bit of extra polish and those issues fixed!

Last Harvest by mahalis 2023-01-14T19:09:29Z

I can't run your game :/, I'm not sure what to do.

Can't run your game.png

Inside by CaptainDreamcast 2023-01-09T18:50:54Z

First game that genuinely made me laugh LOL, I accidentally restarted the game halfway through by pressing escape trying to cancel an action. I'd recommend changing that. Otherwise, fairly solid experience, I can't wait to reach detective heaven!

Five Finger Copper Shopper by Don Fouts 2023-01-13T16:44:09Z

XD cope.png I ended up doing 4 runs of the game. I was very confused at first and kept getting the "you didn't steal anything ending," that's when I realized I was supposed to throw the copper inside of the shopping cart. After I realized that I realized how exactly the game worked. Unfortunately, my ability to pick up items seemed to have stop working after I threw one item in? That's how I ended up with this result, lol!

This was a good game, well-made all around. The controls/movement could use a bit of work I think, it feels a bit floaty sometimes. I could definitely see this being expanded into something more, good work!

Speedy Harvest by CG_Fred 2023-01-14T19:06:55Z

I harvested everything, let's goooooo!

i win.png

Solid game, it was satisfying to just cut through all the wheat. The controls are slippery but I do believe that's an intended part of the difficulty. However, I'm not sure if the game does have any *real* difficulty since there is no lose condition. The level progression was a bit lacking though. I was expecting some sort of twist to the gameplay instead of just increasing the number of actors and the amount of wheat to be harvested. Overall, good job though!

Agricultural Ascension by Sibi 2023-01-14T19:14:58Z

I got stuck on level 8, haha! This is a tough one.

levle 8.png

Overall, good game. Solid presentation, the game is very simple to understand and once you figure out how everything works it becomes an excellent puzzler. Unfortunately the game got very laggy for me in the later levels, and it became much harder to play the game. Other than that, good work!

Mimi's Challenge by epb9000 2023-01-09T21:13:05Z

burnnig_alive.png HELP, I'm literally going to burn alive!

Jokes aside, this was really fun, good job! My only complaint is the delay when you press an input to move.

The Amazing Web-Harveting (Ludum Dare 52 edition) by brmassa 2023-01-09T19:42:39Z

err.png

The game doesn't launch :(, I assume you already know this.

Midnight Harvest by SirLich 2023-01-09T20:04:12Z

This is a pretty good game! My only issue with it is that it ramps up in difficulty quite harshly, I didn't have that much time to get used to the mechanics before I already had to memorize numerous details.

Encryption Harvester by Lone_Wolf 2023-01-14T19:01:15Z

Ah, I think I spent a bit too much time banging my head against the wall trying to figure out the words. Is there a way to refer back to the story you just read to get hints on what words might be? A feature such as this would make it a lot more enjoyable for casuals such as myself!

This is a solid entry though, good job! I love how this is different from the other entries submitted to this Jam, which immediately jumped onto farming themed games. With a bit more polishing I could see this being a lot more fun :D!

Harbinger's Harvest by Mad Brokli 2023-01-09T22:02:27Z

I got a score of 2077, your use of the theme is more of a story/general thematics one than that integral to the game mechanics. Your game seems to be a basic shooter survival game other than that. Not bad! In terms of the gameplay, the controls feel a little slippery and that makes it very hard to dodge the large arrays for bullets. Improvements to the movement mechanics should make it a lot easier (and funner) to play! Overall, good game :)

The Soul Harvester by AdamWatters 2023-01-09T17:47:31Z

softlocked.png Sadly, I got softlocked on my first run of the game, so I had to restart from the beginning and do another run through

fellthroughtheworld.png Then I got stuck in this section of the game, I was unable to get out of this hole and then I fell through the floor when trying to dash out, so I think my playthrough will end here.

Overall though, the concept is sound. A fairly good interpretation of the theme, that isn't just a farming simulator. The game only needs a lot of polish, more things to do, and it would be a pretty good experience!

My mother told me... by leggy 2023-01-12T15:29:54Z

Hey! This is a pretty decent game, good job on submitting! I have a few issues with the overall game design though. For one this seems to be more of a, oddly enough, action game than a puzzle game. Perhaps this could would work better as like a platformer or something that's a bit a more fast-paced? Secondly, the hidden spikes got annoying very quickly, I think it would be a good idea to add some sort of faint indicator that they're there. You can reward the player for paying attention to the level design. Instead, I'm forced to move through every area very slowly after they're introduced to progress through the game.

Social MediƦty by const_arch 2023-01-12T15:21:48Z

Hey this game is pretty good, the biggest killer for me is the lack of sound effects and how long the game dragged on. I also seemed to be playing the game wrong and accumulated a huge disadvantage against the tentacle guy. The story and presentation is quite funny though, good job overall! I'd recommend possibly making the game shorter or otherwise improving the pacing. It becomes quite tedious after a while.

Hartifacts by lisyarus 2023-01-09T17:10:23Z

Well, this is quite embarrassing, but I got stuck on the 2nd level! I honestly have no idea what I'm supposed to do here and have been stuck here for 15 minutes. However, the game is quite well-made overall! I don't think it fits very well with the theme of harvest, but I see what you were going for.

Grim Phantom by CemKaanU 2023-01-12T15:38:56Z

I am God god.png

This is a good game! I see a lot of potential in this. It does become extremely easy after getting upgrades like the bone barrage, all this game really needs is map variety and a harder difficulty curve with enemy variations. It's quite well polished and satisfying to playthrough, good job!

Harvest Skin by mikyokyuji 2023-01-09T18:04:08Z

Whoaaaaa, this is a weird game, I'm getting creepy-pasta energy from this. I'm going to have nightmares everyday about Abigail harvesting my skin :scream: . Good job writing up backstories/personalities for all of the fish!

A Farmer's nightmare by streq 2023-01-09T22:20:55Z

Cool game! Harvesting crops with the scythe was surprisingly satisfying, which I did not expect. Some additional gameplay variety would be nice though.

Seven Favors by surr-sloidah 2023-01-09T21:52:14Z

Whoa, this is surprisingly very well polished, good job! This feels like the type of game that would have/has multiple different endings, I could see potential in this being fleshed out/expanded more. Gameplay feels very smooth and it's fun to move around and do things. My only complaint is that the content itself gets a bit repetitive, maybe extra level variety could help with that!

Swfarming infestation by Frib 2023-01-09T17:20:41Z

Just finished playing, unfortunately, I am a noob farmer :(. This is a pretty cool game, using crops to gather resources for constructing towers and then protecting them from incoming threats is something that has potential! My only real complaint is that there isn't much to do after you construct your main defense and plant all your crops, something to keep actively doing or micromanaging tasks would take this experience to the next level.

Iris's Scrappy Rumble by ScolonDev 2023-01-09T22:41:46Z

Thanks for the feedback everyone, it goes a long way in improving all of my projects :3

@lisyarus Yeah, I noticed quite late that there were a lot of balance issues that needed to be addressed. The game was actually originally much, MUCH harder than this. I toned it down a lot in the final hour. If I had a bit more time I'd definitely look into some sort of healing or permanent upgrades as the waves progressed.

Iris's Scrappy Rumble by ScolonDev 2023-01-14T19:38:18Z

@streq Ooo, 2 item or 1 item crafts would be very interesting and make surviving a bit easier, since you'd be able to more immediately respond to threats. I'll keep that in mind for the future :o

@nikitavychuz Yep, that's another balance issue I didn't have too much time to address. I'd probably want to make the crafts a bit more impactful so you need less components to handle each individual combat.

@yogurtthehorse Heh, yeah I've been working a lot on refining my art style to find a good balance between effects, visual feedback, and gameplay. I don't want anything that's too intrusive to the gameplay loop but I do want it to feel juicy. I think I'm almost there though!

As always, thanks for the feedback everyone :D. The comments are always the best part of these jams <3

Thrown Harvest (for LD52) by matimat 2023-01-09T17:59:02Z

iwonletsgo.png It took a while, but I won! This is a pretty cool small game, it took me a while to realize that you could hold multiple balls at once. So, I was only doing 1 ball at a time for the majority of my run. After I realized that fact, the gameplay sped up a bit. The bird constantly coming in and removing my progress was kind of annoying though. This seems like the type of game where the goal would be to accomplish the objective as fast as possible, or as stylish as possible, so a timer or something similar would be nice. This would fit well as a small arcade game. Overall, good job!

Fruit of Life by Isaac Phillips 2023-01-09T18:16:47Z

I was a bit confused at what I was supposed to be doing, and the camera seems to be VERY zoomed in. However, I eventually got to the core gameplay when I reached the top of the tower. I do wish that this section of the game happened a lot sooner, or it started from that segment. Unfortunately, I died shortly afterwards and the game just immediately shutdown. There was no audio either, but maybe you didn't have time to create any.

I see what you were going for with this idea, and the art style is quite cool and unique. Overall, not bad!

Carrot Season by Dacs 2023-01-12T17:03:40Z

I did it! I harvested all the carrots, I'm now ascending to carrot heaven!!!! Oh wait, I mean farmer's heaven, LOL! carrot.png

Nice little game, I could see this being expanded into something more, possibly a mobile game due to the way it's structured. With just a little more polish and other things to actively do and manage it could be nice relaxing game. However, it did take me a while to figure out the controls and an optimal route to progress in the game. Fixing both that and pacing issues should improve the experience by a lot. Good job overall!

LD54 — Limited Space

roadtrip by caryoscelus 2023-10-06T01:27:11Z

The art style is charming, and I wish I could stuff people in the trunk and steal people's luggage. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any overarching goal in the game, but I think this is the start to something quite cool. It just needs a lot more development! I messed around with this a lot more than I probably should have.

Plate of War by someoneman 2023-10-06T17:17:00Z

The plate mechanic was interesting, though I think it could be expanded a bit more. Perhaps you could have the functions of the weapons be different depending on how you orient each one. The movement of weapons onto the plate was also quite floaty, I'm unsure if this is intentional but sometimes it was frustrating to get weapons where I wanted them. That said, there was a surprisingly large variety of weapons and the graphical style is quite funny. Good work overall!

Warehouse Keeper by tanis 2023-10-03T18:09:20Z

I beat the game! This was a very standard and solid box-moving puzzler. I do wish that the controls were a bit tighter and faster and I did turn down my volume after a bit since the music got very repetitive. However, that's likely just a side effect of being a jam game. The leaderboard was an interesting touch. Additionally, I do wish that there was some sort of gameplay enhancer to add more resistance or strategy to completing each level. Maybe there could've been objects that teleport boxes around, heavier boxes that can't easily be moved, or something else along those lines. Overall, good job!

Wings over Bagel Bay by madjackmcmad 2023-10-06T01:47:19Z

This game was a bit difficult to understand at first but I got the general hang of it. The controls are quite challenging! Aiming the donuts at the landing spot requires a lot more skill than I thought, even with the aiming line to help you time it. The enemies are quite crazy to dodge and I found myself getting completely bodied by them. That aside, I could this as a type of minigame in maybe a larger game of sorts. It just needs a lot more polishing and balancing, good work!

Rude Bear Rollout by alexrose 2023-10-03T19:35:32Z

This was quite a funny experience, the graphics and audio are very well polished and the controls were tight. It was quite easy to move through the environments. The game was a bit longer than I anticipated though, I think the pacing could be improved by having less down-time between key platforming segments, and the theme could've been used a bit more in my opinion. I also had to make several leaps of faith due to the very small camera size and just trust that I was going to end up in the right spot. Other than that the game was great, good job!

On the Ice by Linus Lindberg 2023-10-05T22:19:59Z

The global best time was a nice touch, and I found myself trying to beat each of the times though I failed miserably on all of them. I honestly want to know how you guys are completing these levels so fast. The game controls well and is simple and straight to the point, good job! I do wish there were more levels or twists to the gameplay, though.

Rift Escape by LittleBear 2023-10-06T03:32:20Z

Ramming myself into boxes was surprisingly quite satisfying, however I do wish that the game ramped up in difficulty a bit faster as it was paced quite slowly. The losing screen forcing you to close the window was hilarious, I actually laughed out loud when that first happened. Good job!

Terminal Noise by fusionnist 2023-10-05T19:30:07Z

This game is extremely confusing, in fact most of the ways to progress were super difficult to figure out. I don't think I'm going to be able to finish this one, but I can appreciate the effort of creating a more mysterious game where you're just trying to figure out how everything works. However, said discovery process was quite engaging. Good job on creating a compelling atmosphere!

SDS: Space Delivery Service by wisstopher 2023-10-05T19:10:22Z

God, the atmosphere here is perfect. I thought this was going to be a horror game and I felt like I was on the verge of getting jump scared at every turn. The objects being delivered were quite funny and every time the power systems failed I thought it was over for me. I beat the game though! Great atmospheric design. I could see this being expanded into something more!

Dozer Dash by IDidGame 2023-10-05T16:11:17Z

bulldozer.png

This was the farthest I was able to get after several attempts. A pretty intense and simple survival arcade game! Good job! The graphics are well-polished and the feedback is simple and to the point. The special ability was quite satisfying to use. I think it would be interesting to explore how the arena or falling boxes could be further expanded upon.

Norton by Sozey 2023-10-06T16:43:04Z

Interesting game, unfortunately I got lost on where I was supposed to go after a while. I don't know if I was just being silly or I had somehow soft-locked my game. I do wish that the limited space theming was utilized a bit more here. Beyond the computer theming and timed combats on the circuit-board, mechanically there is not much going for it. However, the graphics and atmosphere were well polished, though the audio got quite repetitive after a while. Good job overall!

The Inflatable Delivery Service by Rolly 2023-10-05T21:02:33Z

The game gets a bit difficult in the later stages, but I think I expanded my raft in the wrong direction because I couldn't find a single way to fit the shark with all of the other objects. I also wish it ramped up a bit faster, it was dragging on for a bit initially. The graphic and audio design is good though, good work!

Crampy Kitchen by BisnessPirate 2023-10-05T19:36:36Z

This is a good concept but I ran into a few issues. For instance, some of the fruit cannot be grabbed at all if they get into some awkward position due to the physics. This makes your demise inevitable. Furthermore, in the later stages of the game the customers will request massive soups and the cooking time of them just can't keep up with the demand, so I found it really difficult to get very far. The audio design is quite good though and the game overall fun to play, good job!

Transilvaniawkward by Mastoast 2023-10-05T21:28:08Z

Extremely well polished and solid entry, good work! I got stuck on the last few levels, but the level design was great overall and you did a good job of teaching core mechanics to the player by slowly introducing them.

Musical Tunnels by Lakea 2023-10-05T19:19:50Z

This game seems easy at first, but once you get into the later levels, you're going to have a bad time. I was getting very frustrated as I kept crashing my ship into the holes on the level called "Yankee Doodle." I don't know why Yankee wants to Doodle, but he's making me mad. I wanted to get further in this game because it seemed quite cool, but I was stopped in my tracks by Yankee Doodle. Why do I have to doodle with the Yankee? This game has snappy controls and nice graphics, but I can't get past the Yankee Doodle. It's soo hard!

...good work on this entry, it could be expanded into something more for sure!

Limited Survival by LudumDareDevil 2023-10-06T03:47:26Z

A pretty simple but engaging game. But, I do wish that there were more enemy types or added complexity to keeping the circle from closing in on you. The sounds were satisfying and the pixel art is very well done, good job!

Natura by DzejPi 2023-10-03T04:38:35Z

I made a little house :) house.png

This game was very confusing at first, I needed to refer to the instructions manual several times to get an idea of what I had to do. It also took me a while to realize that my objective was to breed 100 bees. I guess I suck cause I spent more than 10 minutes on this and I've still made little progress. I think the game could use some more visual or audio feedback to reinforce worthwhile actions, I honestly had no clue what I was doing, lol. That aside, this is good entry. I like the visual style that you were going for, the combination of the simple pixel art on 3D meshes creates an interesting look that I think could be expanded into something more. Good luck in the jam!

Zero Percent by Zykra 2023-10-03T05:05:51Z

This is an interesting idea. My main gripe with the game is that I found the tutorial and graphics very confusing at first. So much so that I spent around 10 minutes just figuring out what everything meant despite reading the tutorial several times. I think this game would heavily benefit from being made a bit simpler or having the information be presented to the player at a slower pace. This was an entry to a game jam though, so I understand why it doesn't have these features!

I do like the idea of micromanaging resources between planets. I think this could be further expanded by having some sort of active threat you're constantly battling instead of the distant threat of running out of resources. The limited inventory could potentially play into that as you may need to carry certain resources or items to keep something at bay. Good work! :)

Pandalele by owca 2023-10-03T18:45:54Z

pandalele.png

I think I suck a bit too much at this game haha! This is a pretty intense management game and the music and graphics are quite well done. The game has good feedback for player input. My main gripe with the game is that it was a bit laggy for me. There was a notable amount of lag on my inputs and the interaction circle updating to where my pointer was. Other than that, great job!

Clear the space by Bobafett89 2023-10-05T18:51:52Z

Interesting take on theme, it did get quite hectic juggling between modes and it was a bit frustrating that I couldn't move during the other modes to optimize my efficiency. I managed to get quite far I think though. There was also a room where it just would not let me absorb any of the red circles. The mode selection wheel could benefit from having each keybind shown underneath each of the buttons, so I don't need to do mental math to figure out which number is which. That aside I could see this being expanded into something more with a bit more polish and balance, good work!

Outland Escape by Spike Studio 2023-10-03T05:20:57Z

escaped.png

I did it! I escaped the outlands! This is a really great entry. Graphics and audio are so clean and well polished that I forgot that I was playing a jam game for a second. You even managed to build a steady progression system and add a decent amount of content, good work! I don't have any serious gripes with this.

Storage Loss by MasterOfCheese 2023-10-07T04:35:29Z

robot_win.png

At first I was going to say it wasn't that buggy, but then I advanced to the 2nd level and everything just started breaking. Honestly, it was sort of funny. The minimalist art style is nice, though the UI was a bit difficult to read. Also, the firing sound was really loud, I had to turn my volume super low and it was still very loud. I ended up seeing the same upgrade multiple times over until eventually my gun was suddenly a machine gun, lol. Overall, good job though!

Harborea by googlypoo 2023-10-05T20:41:36Z

A relaxing and simple puzzle game, the audio design is nice and lets your mind wander off to think about things as you try to complete the puzzles. Despite that, these puzzles are too big brain for me to figure out, so I didn't get very far, lol. Good work on this entry!

Paula Poppet by ScolonDev 2023-10-03T02:11:53Z

@owc Thanks for the feedback and playing! Yeah, I can agree it does get very chaotic and hard to follow sometimes.

Paula Poppet by ScolonDev 2023-10-06T21:01:35Z

@pikario Oh! Seems i forgot to set the github repository to public, thanks for letting me know! It's up now :)

@steiner2001 Yeah, I noticed that enemy spawning off screen issue a bit too late into development to address, but yeah I completely agree with you there. Thanks for the feedback!

@sudocoffee The bubble arsenal was mainly meant to give you different ranges of attack, and cycled on a queue. I do agree that it was a bit difficult to take advantage of though.

The Bullet Box by MonsieurDuck 2023-10-03T18:34:28Z

I really like the double-edged mechanic that your bullets have, you need to be careful about where and how you're shooting your bullets so that it doesn't backfire on you. However, I do think that the bullets should not last forever, and the tiny bullets should be nerfed a bit so they're more usable. The small shots travel so extremely fast that it is almost a guaranteed death. The ragdoll animation when you die is very funny too, good job!

Elevators Go Boink by sudocoffee 2023-10-03T04:46:28Z

I Won? end_of_the_world.png

Took me a while to realize the objective, but this was quite funny! I wish you had more time to see what else you could've done with it. Good work!

Jurassic escape by DSFAN 2023-10-03T18:51:42Z

This is a good entry for your first game ever made! If this game had more time to be expanded upon, I would add different dinosaur types and potentially movement options to add strategy to the dodging. I noticed that you could generally stay still in one area and just not move until a dinosaur came near you for the most part. The ramping up of the difficulty was a nice touch to keep it from becoming too repetitive. Good work overall!

Limited Shape by Woprok 2023-10-05T16:02:06Z

impossible.png

Cool concept, but as shown in the image here the random-placing of the shapes and the speed at which they come out will eventually lead to combinations that are impossible to beat. However, the game could be quite intense otherwise. This could be quite a lot of fun with a lot more polish and balancing! Perhaps you could add extra twists once you get into the later stages of the game.

Greasy Justice by kasmilus 2023-10-05T15:51:26Z

This is an interesting game, however I feel like playing the player and enemy side creates a weird dynamic where you can just choose whether you want to die early or live a long time. The game was a bit confusing at first, but I managed to figure it out. I was also experiencing frame drops and input lag. The aside, the graphics are well-polished and this is a pretty good take on the theme, good job!

The thing follows your pointer by Sergei11156 2023-10-03T17:53:37Z

This is a very cool concept, I could see it being expanded into something more with a bit more development. The game just needs some sort of ramping up and more strategy to the gameplay. It could potentially make for a fun and relaxing mobile game to pass the time. The minimal graphics surprisingly worked very well for this, good work!

Ruins Runner by Ackbad 2023-10-03T18:19:12Z

This is a solid entry. I do like how unexpectedly difficult it is. My main complaint is that the hitboxes on the player, spike, or rock are way larger than what their sprites are. Additionally, the rocket just constantly telefrags you which makes it impossible to get very far in this game. I wasn't able to consistently get more than 30k points. It was already mentioned in an earlier comment, but your score counter keeps ticking up after you die, so if you wanted you could get infinite score. This game mainly needs a lot of balance, polishing, and gameplay twists and then I think it'll be great! Good job!

Subwhell in RushHour by Mealky 2023-10-03T17:05:29Z

dodge.png

This game surprisingly hard, this was the farthest I was able to get after 10 tries. My main issue was that the openings and dotted lines were very difficult to see. Then I had to remember which button does which pose. This left me very little time to make a decision to get past each wall. Also the game takes a long time to load, but that was mentioned earlier.

Other than that, the graphics are cute and well-polished. The gameplay loop also works well, good job!

DigHard by Tkap1 2023-10-06T01:09:58Z

i won.png

I died on the my first run, but I figured out what I was doing wrong afterwards. It was pretty satisfying to upgrade my character, especially the dash and digging speed abilities. The sound effects from breaking the blocks and constantly moving at a fast speed felt good. However, I do wish there was a bit more of a challenge and strategy to outrunning the void, it was quite easy to make it to the end after realizing I just needed to level up quickly. Overall, good job!

Fruit Fitting Frenzy! by Gwen Dekker 2023-10-03T02:19:12Z

This was quite funny and reminds me of that password game that was popular a while back. I was able to get to this point before giving up. The rules just kept confusing the heck out of me, this a good puzzle game though! aea.png
