Wow. The concept is simple but the execution is beautiful, meditative, and intense—it feels claustrophobic to have the darkness closing in but until the last moment you still have hope that a thing will appear and let you push it back for a little longer. Some sound and music would add to the experience but it’s incredibly atmospheric as it is, which I… never thought I would have reason to say about something this minimal. Outstanding work.
Very cool! (If maybe a bit laggy on my machine) First though the spawned things still being there in the darkness was a bit taunting, but when I realized I got to use them again once I got rid of the darkness, I got happy :)
love it, the minimalism, the intense shrinking of space, the colors and sound effects, a really well made and novel concept!
Incredibly mesmerizing to play, it really feels organic and alive. I'd love there to be more gameplay but maybe that'd actually weaken the game as an artpiece. Well done!

Amazing idea :eyes: I love it. So simple yet so perfect and on point. Nice execution
This is a very cool concept, I could see it being expanded into something more with a bit more development. The game just needs some sort of ramping up and more strategy to the gameplay. It could potentially make for a fun and relaxing mobile game to pass the time. The minimal graphics surprisingly worked very well for this, good work!
i like the vibe of this game. the art, while minimalist, is great in my opinion. i feel like a score (based on elapsed time) would be a little bit more engaging, because when i'm having a good streak i want to be able to keep track of that. good job!

The way the blob moves when it gets hit feels really good to look at, so good job on making that work nicely.
As for some advice, in general when two objects interact with each other (player -> ball), it’s a good idea to do something to visually confirm that interaction. For instance, when a ball hits the blob's wall, it moves nicely and create a nice effect that simply feels good to see, so you got it right there. But when the player hits a ball nothing happens. Here you could do things like flashing the player and the ball white for 0.1-0.15 seconds to visually confirm the hit, or spawning some particles, which would serve the same purpose of confirming that interaction and making it look nicer.
Additionally, the way the player moves is too static. Applying some acceleration that follows the mouse's position would look nicer and feel better to control than what's going on now, where it only moves when the mouse is far away enough from the center, which feels kind of unnatural and wrong IMO.
Other than that, a nice entry and a good effort!
Really neat concept that can be expanded! A pumping soundtrack and some juicy effects would add a lot too.

Honestly a really solid game idea. I feel like its really only missing some sort of goal or progress. Doesn't have to be anything inside like upgrades, even something as simple as a highscore or the level changing colors over time. Something new to discover as you play would dramatically increase the replayability. Nice game!
The large spans of black and white across the screen are really mesmerizing (although probably eye-straining after a little bit). It's a cool effect.
This is a super cool concept, but it's hard to play with the mouse, why not having movements with the arrow keys? It would have been better. It's pretty challenging until you realize that every time you die it's because you took much risks, and staying in the center is the best strategy.
Wow masterclass on making something simple yet effective, loved the entry. Lots of potential in this one.

It's amazing how you made a game in such a minimal way! Very well done!
I personally felt there was something missing to keep going after 3 or 4 tries. The game abruptly restarts when you die, which at the first time felt for me like it was a good thing since the space suddenly increases. There is no real score or time being kept so there is no real goal to the game.
I really like the effect on the circle which decreases in size, and the shotgun power ups is a nice addition (it seems almost needed to be able to survive). This can be really interestingly extended with all sorts of cool power ups and effects.
Very nice Compo entry!
game has a strong theme connection and offers simple but intense gameplay. It would be even better with a points system and some variation in difficulty. You've laid a solid foundation, and with these improvements, it can become even more engaging.
