LD54 — Limited Space

The Signal by OddballDave 2023-10-03T09:33:57Z

Wow, this game is *drenched* in charisma and fun. The vibe is just right. Unfortunately the vibe gets duller the more often you have to repeat a level, so decreasing the difficulty would probably add to the experience.

BLOCKIES by Ayxs 2023-10-03T11:02:34Z

Very nice and relaxing game! I really like the theming of creating a videogame and just cramping as many features as possible into it. To really nail this idea down, I'd love to have some way to track all the things that I've put in my game, so that in the end I don't just have a highscore but can also imagine how this monstrocity of a game might look like.

Ace of Space by n.feofentov 2023-10-03T10:24:20Z

This is **GREAT**! What an awesome and innovative idea that fits the theme perfectly. Additionally to that, it's also just a really nice minimalistic game. Thank you for showing me something I've never seen before!

HeadSpace Limited by Im not a robot 2023-10-03T09:13:55Z

Really incredible, especially knowing that you did everything from scratch. You really hit nostalgia and fear in equal measures with the crazy visuals and soundscape.

HeadSpace Limited by Im not a robot 2023-10-03T12:00:10Z

@im-not-a-robot Before your game, I had never heard of Processing - but from what I've just glimpsed, it looks very interesting. Do you think its worth getting into it? Or rather: Why did you choose Processing rather than an engine?

HeadSpace Limited by Im not a robot 2023-10-03T12:17:48Z

@im-not-a-robot That sounds awesome, I'll definitely check it out! Engines can be very overwhelming and on the Processing website, they list a lot of user-made libraries. The idea of having your own super customizable set of frameworks and libraries to replace an engine, sounds wonderful - at least when you're making a game that supports this kind of minimalism. Thanks for the inspiration!!

Expendable Continuum by HandsomeShan 2023-10-03T10:18:01Z

Damn! I unfortunately died in the last system and couldn't see how the story ends. The game's really nice though! I love simulated worlds and I also love how everything devolves into chaos the longer you stay. The presentation is really amazing too. Well done!

Shattered Spirits by Tobius 2023-10-03T20:29:57Z

I *love* the artstyle and lore behind each spirit! As others have pointed out, the gameplay is very confusing and I was able to win the last level without much strategy or thought - but I don't think a concept like this can be balanced well as part of a GameJam. Well done!

Hardest Drive by SomeSortOfSam 2023-10-03T17:11:49Z

I'm with @alexclay on this one. The game looks stunning and there's obviously a lot of love in it. The dragging of the sides towards the middle seems like such an interesting mechanic to me, the way you dragged your character into the scene in the beginning was great, and it's always great to have a tutorial at the start. Buuut the tutorial didn't tell me the game's intent, didn't introduce enemies and didn't say how the dragging of the screen should be used so I just kinda stumbled through it, pressed space a few times, and then I was apparently done. I just feel like I'm missing something here which is unfortunate because the presentation is spectacular!

Before I Forget by Wrong Timeline 2023-10-03T09:47:27Z

Very cool idea with a lot of potential for further exploration! I especially like the ending that ties the mechanic in with the story in a very nice way. I just wish there was more decision making - right now I'm only guessing what I might need, or rather: what I wont need because there's enough space for most. The time during the memory-sorting implies time-pressure and I think some time pressure would fit quite well into the mechanic. Anyway, nice job overall!

Ability Management by Unfinished632 2023-10-03T17:28:59Z

Cool game! I think showing the level before you choose would be better because resetting always feels like a punishment for having f-ed up. So I feel punished by the game because I made the wrong decision after choosing randomly without any information. I especially loved the last level though. The "AHA!" moment of solving it was very nice :)

Until You Make It by TiedToAnAlien 2023-10-03T09:57:11Z

Firstup: Your embedded version doesn't work, if you weren't aware! Secondly: I am so happy that you went with this concept. While I was lying my ass off I genuinely thought "I wonder if this comes back to bite me" - and it did! Really cool idea but also completeeeely unfit for a game-jam lol. And this gets obvious in the gameplay - half the time I don't know what's even going on because the combat is just too messy. The initial part of the lying with the close-ups on the faces looked really really polished tho! Overall, very fun idea and very out-of-scope .-. I hope you'll jam again!

The thing follows your pointer by Sergei11156 2023-10-03T10:48:23Z

Incredibly mesmerizing to play, it really feels organic and alive. I'd love there to be more gameplay but maybe that'd actually weaken the game as an artpiece. Well done!

Mothership by Waschi 2023-10-03T10:58:55Z

@willoxs hmm, that's unfortunate! We'd need make sure the UI is scaled correctly for a download version - I can look into that later in the day (could I even upload it during the jam?). Did you try to use a different browser? That might be a quick-fix for the problem!
