Papers please vibe :). Your game is polished very well with good visuals and nice sound track. And the main gameplay is of course good. Good job man. Where are the rating options? I am new here :p

terracottafrog 2023-01-09 16:31

@smashcrate looks like i accidentally opted out! if you have a chance you shouls be able to rate now!

Thanks for the feedback!

smashcrate 2023-01-09 16:34

@terracottafrog yep, now I am able to rate :)

Haha I love yours! Some feedback I have:

- When discovering a new mushroom, maybe instead of needing to press ENTER, you could let the user just use AB ZX, otherwise it disrupts the expierence a bit - I love the sound effects! - The graphics are quircky in a fun way!

I really loved this entry: simple and effective, and the procedural generation for mushrooms is great!

It looks like 9 pages is my limit.

I think I did pretty well!

This is a pretty well made and solid game! I was able to get quite far by mentally dividing the groups of edible mushrooms into their own categories. There was a period of time where every red mushroom and every white mushroom was edible, so I just rejected everything that did not meet those criteria. As time went on though, the memorization got quite tough. The visuals are expertly made and fit the game's simplistic nature very well, nicely done!

I love this! I love the art and music, and the gameplay is fun and addictive. Nice use of the theme as well. I feel like I could sink a lot of time into this one. Great work!

I really liked this one! Very unique take and gameplay, I also found the visuals very appealing. Not sure why this doesn't have more ratings yet.

Honestly loved this. One of my favorite compo entries. Visuals are simple but well designed to serve the gameplay. Excellent work.

Amazing entry. Loved the textures and visuals - made things complex and interesting. The game became more difficult every time in a well balance manner, didn't expect memorization would become so hard XD Untitled.png

The only thing that bothered me a bit was that the font was a bit to big on the full-screen mode :)

almax 2023-01-14 20:47

Fun concept, very cute game! I liked how the difficulty increased over time as more mushrooms types were introduced. The SFX were very satisfying too. "Pop" Great work!

Super impressed on the technical side with the procedural generation of new mushrooms, especially for a compo! Sometimes they look a bit too similar, but then again, that's also the danger in real life haha. The gameplay is simple but works well, but honestly I replayed it a few times just to see what kind of mushrooms were possible to generate. Great title as well.

Fun little game made with a framework I love, passed a good time. Good work =)

This is a fun little game! The procedurally-generated mushrooms are a great touch for a Compo game and add serious replay value, while the steady stream of new mushrooms provides a natural difficulty progression. I only made it to four pages before tripping myself up and losing but I'm sure I can go a lot further than that, which is the feeling you want when finishing a game like this. Good job!

szieberth-adam 2023-01-17 19:07

Very good game. One of my favourite LD52 game until this point!

adam-konig 2023-01-20 06:24

Great vibe great entry very polished and clean and snappy. Loved it!

arzi 2023-01-20 09:37

It's definitely a unique game! At least in the beginning the edible and poisonous mushrooms were maybe too distinguishable by color, i.e. the poisonous ones were always black and white, so it became a bit mechanical.

stormcat 2023-01-21 00:34

Really cool game! I love all of the different mushroom varieties and the simple but effective animations for them. It's a super well polished game that was testing my memory skills for sure. The mushrooms being randomly generated was also pretty amazing, I'm majorly impressed you managed to do that in 2 days. Overall a very good game.

thoastbot 2023-01-22 11:48

Sweet game, easy to understand, love the generated Mushrooms and Names (considering they are generated) ^^ The difficulty feels great, ramps up slowly, ain't too punishing, great memory game!

Only point, for me with a qwertz-keyboard, the z/x key setting was a tiny bit annoying - in a game like this its really not too bad even tho i'm sure i would have poisoned two less ppl with better key mapping xP

Overall i really enjoyed my time here :3

terracottafrog 2023-01-22 16:32

@thoastbot That's a really good point, shocked that slipped my mind

I'll try to keep the keyboard mapping stuff in mimd of the future.

Thank you!

szieberth-adam 2023-01-22 21:06

Yes, QWERTZ here too. I handled it without mentioning. Good point though.

flauschzelle 2023-01-27 16:37

Very cool, I like how it gets more and more challenging, until the edible and the poisonous mushrooms look almost the same...

The keys didn't work as described for me though, I could only use X and Z, which are kind of awkwardly placed on my (QWERTZ) keyboard, and the A and B keys didn't do anything. Would have liked to have configurable controls.

terracottafrog 2023-01-27 19:01

@flauschzelle Controls and documentation of them are definitely an oversight!

A and B are for gamepad controls! I definitely did not make that clear in-game
