Nice use of the theme - I liked the eclectic graphic style, and the use of the old TV as a frame. Well done!

This was a really fun game. I really like how you used the card format. The only issue I had was I kept finding myself waiting for cards and getting attacked by multiple enemies while waiting down the counter. I wasn't sure exactly when enemies were spawning - was it just after I killed the previous wave? I think maybe I just didn't quite get the hang of the strategy for when to play cards vs. hold off. I really enjoyed the graphics in particular, loved the art throughout. I liked the overall concept, especially the game design that went into what the various cards do.
Enjoyed what you did with the theme. It's interesting to have a combat game where I have to make a tradeoff between fighting the monsters and moving forward ahead. It would be nice if there were some reward or incentive to engage in more of the combat combat, so I would be forced to make more tough decisions - risk the room disappearing while I fight for an item/upgrade/level up? or run ahead to get to the next room to survive? I think some of the enemies could also block and prevent movement more so I would have to fight them to proceed. I can really see this developing further, with levels, items, additional enemies, etc - the core gameplay is fun. Great work!
Love the visual style and characters, the art and animations are great. I had a lot of fun playing this one. Well done!
MELON 🍉
It took me a couple games to get the hang of it, so it might be helpful to add some sort of tutorial or guided start. (I was especially confused about how to get wood from the trees). Once I got the hang of it,I had a lot of fun! At around Year 17, I'm not exactly sure why, it stopped generating any new resources and my population just started sinking until it went to 0 (I had farms and guilds and marketplaces placed). But my walls and barracks kept things defended until Year 25!
Great work! Really love the retro feel of the graphics and sounds. And the gameplay definitely got me hooked :)
I really enjoyed playing! The art is great, the gameplay is fun. Great job!
I like the concept of having to gather ingredients and brew potions during combat. I ended up finding it a bit frantic to balance between movement, attacking and brewing, it was hard to keep focus on both movement/attacks and the potions brewing, so I didn't have much time to really think about how or what to brew.
That art has a lot of personality, I really love the overall visual style and the nice touches with the background (love the mural).
Great work!
Fun and challenging little platformer. I liked the new elements you introduced each level.
Love the sound effects! Pew pew! 🚀
Interesting and clever concept - challenging but satisfying. I had a lot of fun playing and trying to figure out the puzzles. Great work!
Really enjoyed playing this. And the music and graphics are lovely. Great work!
I had a lot of fun playing this! The graphics are just darn adorable, and I found juggling the drinks orders and cats both challenging and satisfying as gameplay. I might recommend making the meow sound effect a little less frequent as it starts getting a little repetitive after a while?
Overall, I liked this game a lot - I hope you'll continue to develop this project further! I can see so many ways you could continue to expand on this concept (more drink orders? special cats that require certain feats?, etc etc). Great job!!
I had fun throwing people out of the ring, and liked the art. Well done!
Super cute snail game! :) really enjoyed launching myself through the air
Game looks great and plays great. I had a lot of fun playing. I found the decisions and tradeoffs really interesting, the slot-based attack system was clever and unique. Great job!
Really loved the art! I was a little confused when trying to buy potato seeds (couldn't tell how much gold I needed or if I was clicking in the right place to buy). And I didn't realize there was health until I was almost dead. But once I grasped the gameplay and controls, I enjoyed playing this. Well done!!
I really enjoyed the gameplay. I think could have used some in-game tutorial to explain that the emails could be dragged and dropped. Once I realized how it worked, I enjoyed it! I think it would be nice if there were some escalation in speed over time or difficulty ramp of some sort - maybe they could start coming in batches, or if you were able to reply you might get replies at the same time as new messages? Overall, really liked the tone and mood, and really loved just listening to the jazzy elevator music :) Great work!
Had a lot of fun playing this! I ended up focusing heavily on dodging enemies, and after a while it had some performance issues because there were too many enemies on screen I think. I guess I should have killed more pumpkins haha. That being said, I played for quite a while and enjoyed watching the mob of monsters chasing me around. Well done!
This made me so happy. Thank you for making and sharing this game! The graphic style is great, the movement and controls of the carts is fun and also hilarious. What a delight. Well done!
I really like this game! I hope you will continue to build on the idea! Loved the music, it created a great sense of time passing, and went well with the theme. I also really like the art style you used. I might recommend adding a little more visual contrast between the grass and the trees? They are a little hard to distinguish. Really enjoyed playing this - great work!
I love this! I love the art and music, and the gameplay is fun and addictive. Nice use of the theme as well. I feel like I could sink a lot of time into this one. Great work!
I really love this! I want to keep playing and seeing if I can top my previous high score. The strategy is fun, and the art and sounds are delightful. Also love what you've done with the theme! Great work!
This game is so fun and addictive, I keep wanting to play and top my high score. The art is really cute too! Great work!
I had a great time playing this game. Really love the overall aesthetic, and the strategy. Playing on a laptop made some of the controls a little tricky (especially the gun). Overall, once I got the hang of the controls and menus, I played for a while and I had a lot of fun! Great work! And I loved how you incorporated the theme while making a unique game.
I really enjoyed playing this game. The sounds area really soothing and nice. I would recommend adding some more conflict, maybe the crops expire if not harvested in enough time? That being said, I found it really chill and relaxing, so I worry that more time pressure might change the feel. So it really depends on what you're going for. I like it overall, great work!
I really enjoyed playing this! I was a little unclear on what caused time's up when I was playing? I changed my strategy part way through and tried to just till all the land, then plant, then water, and I lost, but it wasn't clear to me what caused me to run out of time. So maybe you could add something to make that part a bit clearer in-game.
Regardless, the only issue I had with the time running out was that I really enjoyed the mechanic of planting and I wanted to keep planting and watering crops! I particularly like the random element of the selection size/shape changing, it added variety and challenge.
Overall, I found it fun and engaging - great work! Also love the art!
I like the twist on the classic pacman style pickups, where you have to plan to revisit tiles, it creates some interesting challenges. Gameplay has a nice feel, mix of action and puzzle. I like the font and colors choices on the farm tiles in particular.
I also won on the first map generated, and actually didn't realize there were multiple maps until I saw the comments here. I played a few more and I enjoyed the variety of strategies, I would have enjoyed having to progress through the levels. The ones with more enemies were challenging, and would love to see maybe either faster enemies, or some change in enemy behavior or speed over time (maybe another nod to the pacman homage?).
Overall, well done!
I like the overall premise. Without indicator I also found it difficult to know when to harvest. I enjoy the balance of having to let it produce pollen but also needing to harvest quickly enough that it didn't wither. It makes things a little hectic, and made me wonder if there might be some upgrades I could get to help me manage the crops more maybe? I found it difficult to plant many at the same time, but I really wanted to use the whole field. Great idea, and good entry, would be curious to see where you will take it!
Nice game! I got 11000 coins. I liked the art and sound, it has a very nice aesthetic and ambience. I played through a couple times, the first time I didn't really pay attention to the Toxicity, and the second time I tried to keep it low and put everything on ice. Was starting to notice that I need to balance delivering on orders with keeping Toxicity from getting too high, because if I spent all the time trying to keep Toxicity low I didn't deliver enough orders! Fun game, I enjoyed playing and would love to see it expanded!
This game is a lot of fun! It did take me a minute to figure out the gate and controls too, but once I did I really enjoyed the sort of action puzzle component, and trying to avoid the locusts. I feel like I could sink a lot of time into this game. And overall really loved the aesthetics - the sound and art are both really appealing. Great work!
I like that this an action game that requires you to stay still for periods of time, it creates interesting conflict and challenge, and has a nice feel overall. It's definitely challenging, but feels like something I could work on and get better at. It was very satisfying when I could get multiple circles counting down, and difficult but not impossible to dodge the bullets. Great work!
This is a fun game, and I especially love the art! The music is also really cute and adds a great mood, though I think it felt a bit repetitive with time, so I'd recommend extending the loop a little if you keep working on this. Really enjoyed the core gameplay, and just dig the overall aesthetic.
I really enjoyed this! I really love what you did with the gameplay and aesthetic, the art is just too cute, and so is the music. The music did get a bit repetitive after a while, so if you continue working on the game I'd recommend extending the loop a bit. Another thing I noticed is that I kept trying to push number keys to change weapon (used to Minecraft & Stardew controls) so you might consider exploring that? These are all just suggestions - the core idea is really fun, and your execution is impressive. I hope you will continue working on this one! I want to keep exploring the world, and I'm so curious what else you might add in future versions and what direction you'd take it. Great work!
I also had the issue where the screen was cut off on my machine, but I was still able to make out the rules enough to be able to play. I really enjoyed the puzzle, though with later levels it became a bit difficult to carry everything in my head. It might be nice if there were a way to see the info about the various types of soil without having to move to them, because then it wouldn't require memorizing? Or maybe I missed something like that?
Overall I really enjoyed this! Love the visual style, very clean and easy to understand, and adorable and appealing. And the music is cute and really adds to the overall feel. Great work!
Cute puzzle game! I enjoyed the art and music.
I liked the mechanics for gathering the materials. I do think you could consider a slightly closer zoom, as I had a little trouble seeing the small flowers. And like others mentioned, I also had some trouble with the camera movement causing a little motion sickness. Overall, I really enjoyed the look and feel. The art was cohesive and interesting, and the environments were really moody. I particularly liked the blob monster art, and the natural art in the dungeons. I enjoyed experimenting to try to summon different things (so far I only figured out how to summon one demon, but I'm guessing there are combinations that result in different critters?).
Great job, I can tell a lot of hard work went into this, and I'm curious to see how you might continue to build on this one!
I found this really challenging, but provided some interesting choices to make when selecting units and deploying. The only issue I had is that there was no meaningful choice for when to deploy - it felt like I always needed to summon the moment I possibly could, which meant there was no advantage to waiting, and I was often spending a lot of time waiting out the timers. This was frustrating when my little guys were running all on one side of the board and there was no way to prevent enemies on the other side from attacking. That being said, these feel like tunable balance fixes that would be really difficult to have time for during a game jam. Overall the game is polished and fun to play - and it was challenging but I kept coming back to see if I could improve! Great work creating an engaging little game, I had fun!
This game was a really fun co-op experience! Had fun playing in both roles. We did encounter some sort of issue where it seemed to be asking us to cut all the lines not connected to other lines, but when we did that it didn't work (possibly we misread the Grimoire). Only other minor issues I noticed were that the text on the buttons on the menu was hard to read (because it was quite small on my screen), and the camera movement was a little over-responsive for my tastes - but these are really small quibbles. I would love to keep playing! I hope you add more.Overall, I think this was a super clever adaptation of Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes - it felt really well suited to the esoterica of magic, and you really nicely integrated the theme. Really loved the art style, it fit really well, and the level design, lighting and mood were very well done! Great work!
This is a beautiful entry! I love what you were able to create, it's super impressive for the short span of a jam. I really appreciate your choice of keeping the visuals and music simple and elegant (which is not easy to pull off!) The art is really beautiful, and the game has a lovely atmosphere. And the gameplay is challenging and interesting, forcing me to think differently. I love that it involves controlling two characters. Fantastic work!
This is a really cool little game! I enjoyed exploring and crafting and seeing what I could make. I enjoyed figuring out the crafting, though I might have liked a little more guidance on what to combine, especially at the beginning I felt I was guessing in the dark (no pun intended!) - also I have a terrible memory and kept forgetting what I had already figured out. That being said, I enjoyed playing around with the crafting system. Great work!
I love the graphics and general feel of this, and I enjoyed the core gameloop you're building here. Cool concept, and I liked the sense of time pressure from the collapsing blocks.
Love the art and the premise! It was also cool that you had two modes of play in there, alternating between the traversal and the fights. I wanted to make more friends! Great work
Great work! I had a lot of fun running around and summoning creatures. I also had some trouble with the slashed through summons on trackpad. It might help to have some sort of indicator of how long I have to draw the shape before things execute. Loved the art and creature designs - especially loved how you clearly indicated the shapes they were made of
@eric-nguyen @lushboy-studios @rrsmtz @thomas-gelman thank you all for playing! (also so glad the gameboy aesthetic shone through - this game was definitely our little love letter to gameboy adventure RPGs)
@happyhour @yangsang @dekisenpaitm @gerolmed @salanyel @scriveneroflight @jpbash
Thank you all so much for your feedback and for playing our game!
And especially thanks for noticing all the hard work we put into the art, music and writing. <3 We know we'd have a long way to go with the gameplay, but we learned a lot from this process on how to prioritize things during our next game jam (and we may even come back and revisit this game down the line, we had a lot of fun building the world and story)
I enjoyed the atmosphere of this game and the general look and feel. I would love to see this developed further to include some more actions you can take with the cats - maybe play with them, pet them, try to lure them with treats or get them to run with toys? Can see a lot of directions you could take this. Anyway, great work - very gentle and peaceful little experience :)
This is a great game! I found it very challenging, but I was playing on my laptop with a trackpad so that's probably why. (Would love to see full keyboard support - I usually game with keyboard only when I have the option). In particular, I thought the art was really compelling and successful. Only suggestions are to think a little about the UI as I wasn't sure at the beginning what to click to proceed (I didn't realize I could click the circles). Well done!
Interesting concept, I had fun trying to replay the song, and the design was quite effective.
A couple suggestions for improvement: I would have liked to see my score a little more prominently after each level to give more clear feedback on how well I did before it proceeded (I see the score on the left, but something a little more central might be nice for me). It wasn't clear to me how much my rhythm affected my score - if rhythm matters, a metronome might be nice to make the rhythm more clear (at least for when you introduce to melody). Lastly, I found the countdown a little long for me, and I sometimes would forget parts of the melody while waiting for it (but maybe that would get better if I practiced more :) ) - but maybe that is intentional design to add challenge
Overall it's a fun little game, great job!
Really loved the art, it was very simple and communicative, while also being stylish and cute. That cat was especially adorable. It took me a while to figure out the gameplay (reading the key-mapping instructions helped, I was lost at first). Once I figured it out, I felt it could use a little variety, but overall thought it was fun and cute. Wish I could catch those pesky squirrels! I like the hairball causing a portal. Great work!
This was really fun and I love the art! Great work! I really enjoyed the combination of the action mechanics with summoning the skeletons to fight the hero. Well done, this is a really solid entry!
