LD55 — Summoning

Whip it up! by recursiveanomaly 2024-04-19T09:54:25Z

Very pleasantly surprised by this! Not a kind of game i would noramlly play but I enjoyed the variety of minigames in prep, the sense of humor and the chill vibes throughout. Longterm i suppose you'd need some kind of progression, but that's not important in the context of the jam. The art is a bit clipart-y for my taste, but the mechanics are on point. Nice job!

Are these... the imps from Dungeon Keeper?

This looks and sounds really great. The character controller runs a little slow (at least on my computer). The mood is pretty dark and oppressive. Well done!

Pretty original concept, frustrating to control - but then, I bet communicating from beyond this mortal realm is difficult! Well done.

Conjurers Catacomb by xilentor 2024-05-04T00:16:24Z

Good work! Nice puzzles, easy to pick up. If I had a suggestion it would be that the controls feel a little loose, i made a couple of accidental pushes, particularly when entering new levels.

Solid little game! Some points: - I found the controls to be intuitive, though navigation was a little tricky because of the sliding. - As with the other raters, the lack of hit feedback / apparent invulnerability of the enemies was kinda confusing. - It's a big empty room so it would benefit from some decorations & some pickups dotted around. - Bonus points for the mute UI (although i didn't use it cause i thought the music was pretty good!)

I think you did a great job within the time constraints of the jam.

Moody and cool with the promise of hidden secrets. I really liked this. Sort of humourous in a pretty dark way. I've not played maybe other text-based offerings this LD so I enjoyed this. Great work!

Great entry - it looks and sounds incredible (and also, some some reason, like a Cadbury's advert) The mechanics feel a bit opaque, and I don't mind that. I like that there's a certain amount of figuring out what does what without any text. Really great work.

Simple idea, well executed. The different items synergise well with one another to create enough of a strategic element to make this a game worth playing for a good while. Like others, the difficulty curve was abit to steep for me personally, but then it's not my genre.

Tiny Terror: Cradle of Souls by byazzle 2024-04-15T11:03:58Z

Loved: - The pantheon of Gods - The feeling of firing my slug - The music! - Gambling on Keeper of the Celestial Labyrinths

At first, I really sucked at this game. Played until I edged onto the leaderboard.

My only note: Add some sort of UI to display bounce count, astral etc, what you have active.

A really really great entry!

Three Sigils by galactical 2024-04-15T09:29:42Z

Well, I sat down to give it a quick play and ended up playing to the end - so that's a win. Nicely paced, never spent too long on any one puzzle, even if at first glance some seemed quite intimidating. The visuals and audio are workmanlike and did what they needed. Doesn't really fit the theme, but you joke about that at the end so i think you know that. I suspect the top door is generating new levels? Pretty impressive if so. Nice job!

Sumi & Portia: Rescue Service '55 by jpbash 2024-06-05T21:50:34Z

@frodewin thanks for playing! It's a solid technique :) No, you did it right - the fire that consumes Portia is a scripted event and you can't save her. I suppose the only way to save her is to stop sending her into raging infernos.

Star Seed: Apocalypse by paloobi 2024-04-18T17:16:04Z

What this game lacks in terms of features (for now) it makes up for with interesting lore and good art and music. Something to consider: I died a few times and couldn't find any way to respawn without reloading the page. Good luck with future development!

Last Ritual by Vitaslayer 2024-04-19T14:21:15Z

good job. there's a decent selection of upgrades, the art/mood/music is really on point. With a little work on the game balance you'll have something very nice.

Pass It On by TeaHands 2024-04-30T16:49:00Z

I think you did a great job with this. The concept is so simple and feels kinda like a schoolyard game. I really love the music too, it somehow captures the troublemaking theme really well.

Exorcist Pianist by Aviv Levy 2024-04-30T17:07:26Z

Could be a winner! I loved it, and imagine they midi version is even better(but i don't own one). From the audio perspective, I could imagine a more frail and reverby note might add to the creepiness. Fantastic work.

**A message we can all get behind! Power to the veg-man!**

Played all three portals. Missed the pumpkin seeds the first time round :(

Some thoughts: - Wasn't 100% clear what the Potato's ability was... just a stronger carrot? - Would be nice to have some kind of ending. - It would be good to have platforms that are reachable only with the pumpkins in the first two levels, would give a reason to replay the levels. - Probably needs a limit on the amount of veg you can hold - i had so many the text broke. - Classic Jam Game floaty platformer jump, forgiveable but not a joy to control.

Quite liked the combination of farming and combat. Time still passes on the farm whilst you're away.

Most importantly, no game-breaking bugs!

Good work for two days!
