An exceptionally well-put-together game. Music was well-suited to the graphical themes and the gameplay was engaging but never too difficult. Honestly great, I have no notes! Excellent work!

the game won't open for some reason.. I think it maybe because I'm using a virtual machine to run windows temporarily, I wish there was a web build but I don't think Love2D supports that out of the box. anyway I just wanted to say that despite not playing the game I absolutely love your music! I discovered your Soundcloud through the trailer and man I really like your work, it has that melancholic vibe that I'm all about and your use of instruments is amazing! just wanted to let you know I guess , if you make a web build later let me know I'd love to try the game
@0x-void-x0 hey thanks for the kind words re: music :) I just tested the windows version and it appears to function on my machine, though you're right that the virtual machine might be getting in the way. Sadly getting a web build up of the game is no small task, but if I decide to take it on I'll let you know. Thanks again!
I'm amazed by what you achieved in just 72 hours! The game is incredibly impressive, especially considering the stunning graphics and captivating music. I thoroughly enjoyed the gameplay as well; it was a lot of fun! Keep up the fantastic work!
This is a really good game and I love the atmosphere it is giving me.
Really fun, the controls took a lil adjusting too but everything was really well designed, the puzzles were interesting, the platforming was challenging but not too difficult, everything felt really polished, great job!
Sure your music post and I just had to come check out the game, it didn't disappoint! Incredibly polished considering the time frame, I loved playing it.
Very enjoyable game overall, cute graphic and beautiful soundtrack!
It seems like the game has to be played with two people, but I don't have any friends, so I played alone, and I had some problems with the controls (when both characters are holding onto the wall, they can't climb (probably because I was playing on the keyboard)), but I got through the game! And I loved it!
@sid37 the game is intended for one person using a controller to control both players -- kind of like the game "brothers" but in 2d space. I'm sorry about the keyboard experience! I don't have a gaming keyboard and so I prioritized controller in developing. I appreciate you giving it a shot :)
Loved it! Well polished, both visuals and audio. Puzzles we're nice too! Took a while to figure out the mechanic regarding the save points, felt a bit like losing / cheating:) But the concept of it is definitely interesting. Well done!
The level of polish, visual and audio design is insane. Very well thought out level design and challenges as well. The controls were tying my brain into a pretzel, although very well put together and fun game!
I like it!
I imagine good piano players may have an advantage in playing this! (left-right hand cooridnation). I am very glad there's no pressure to hurry in this game (eg, clock, or enemies chasing) as that would make it impossible for me... I took my sweet time thinking about every coordinated move. Though I could imagine, maybe a later level, once a player has built up muscle memory, there could be a very gentle external pressure building up, like water level rising slowly.. or maybe an area that requires some slow-and-easy coordinated rhythm between the two hands (i mean to an absolute metronome type of thing)... think of it like maybe a puzzle element that has a slowly turning wheel, or swinging pendulum, or something else happening on a consistent tempo..
Other thoughts:
It was tricky when the two characters switched sides (so that Left-controlled player was on the right side of screen and right-controlled player was on the left). My brain is not built for that!! hahah... but it makes me wonder... What about a puzzle component with a reflection, where you have to coordinate with a mirror, or puddle...
One character can climb on the other, and can jump on the other, but then the character who is being climbed on or jumped on cannot carry the first character. Was that just the result of the physics template you were working with, or a deliberate design decision (maybe you thought it would be cheating to have characters carrying each other?)
Great work! My one small criticism (but you should not care, because this is a great game!) is that it doesn't really seem to reflect the summoning theme ... or at least I'm not making the connection.
The footstep sounds are very satisfying. I'm not 100% positive, but they sound very slightly different in pitch which is a great detail -- or am I imagining that?
Cool, nice colors)
@p-man wow, thank you for such detailed and useful feedback!! really means a lot to me. I love all the game design ideas. it definitely feels like there's more to explore with the mechanic, and you've just conjured up some very interesting directions I could take this in, should I keep working on it.
the left-right switch up definitely adds a level of challenge and is worth exploring solutions for. If anything, perhaps an accessibility option that shows a little R or L icon above each character for further distinction. Will think more about that.
the characters climbing each other is a feature i'd love to implement, and probably would have caught if I had time for playtesting -- but its definitely something that should be added. I had a couple hours before submission to consider adding it but it felt too risky given potential unforeseen consequences on level design, so I decided not to. But it's absolutely possible and I might continue working on this project to add it -- it would probably be a really fun feature.
re: summoning theme. you're right, it's not super clear. my general abstract idea was that these two characters were being brought back to life, (aka 'summoned') by a force of nature that was compelling them to the cliffside with the huge plant, which is why they sink into the ground and turn into flowers at the end. but summoning was certainly not a focus in the gameplay :D
and finally, yes the sounds of the player movements are pitched slightly higher for one of the players, great catch and i'm stoked you noticed that. originally I went for chiptune sfx, but that turned out to be super grating, so it gave me an opportunity to do a little light-foley work and record my fingers tapping against the back of my hand.
thank you again for the detailed critique, super appreciated and thank you for playing!
The game keeps crashing with the same error for me :/ I hope you can fix it because I really want to play this! ``` Error

@ogelgames oh no! What system are you using to run the game and what controller, if I may ask?
I'm on Windows 10, using a Logitech F310 controller. It crashes just after the player character stands up, without even pressing any input.
this feels like the first level of a finished, polished game. i'm so impressed with how polished you were able to make this. the level design, cute pixel art, and soft ambient music made it feel so nice to play. well done!!
i had one issue with it booting to a black screen the first time i played, but a restart fixed it and i didn't notice any other bugs.
This was very impressive! You killed it.
The game feels very cool! The puzzles are good, like the challenge to play right and left handed at the same time :) True at some point the girl couldn't walk with the boy's grip, but that's okay. 5 / 5
I am on windows, I am sorry to tell you that I couldn't open the game. Too bad, the concept seems interesting.
Very cool intro scene, music and menu, but sadly I got an error as well.
WOW!! That was an incredible experience. Very polished. Would be a lot of more fun with 2 players as controlling both was pretty hard. 5/5
This was amazing. All of it, the music, the art and the puzzle design. I thought it was super polished, very well thought out and just an absolute joy to play. For few minutes I forgot that this was a jam game and just sunk into it. The fact that you made this with your own engine and the whole thing is only about 15MB is a cherry on the top. Also, the save points were placed at very appropriate places because every time I crossed one, I died immediately after but didn't have to face frustration at all. My only real feedback is that having it relate to the theme is a bit of a reach, but honestly I don't even mind because in the end, the themes are supposed to limit and inspire and damn, it has certainly achieved that with this entry.
we want more!!! love the game so much, especially the animation and music!
This game was a lot of fun with a high level of polish! Sadly it kept crashing for me so I wasn't able to get far but had a great time once I got the hang of the controls, which are very cool.
Very impressive. Great atmosphere. Nice art. Even had cutscenes. It really doesnt feel like a gamejam game but like a small but full game with weeks of development time. But the controls are not for me. Or at least not for my brain lol. I bet it would be fun to play with a second player, locally on the same keyboard.
@ogelgames okay so i'm fairly certain it is a controller issue, though its difficult for me to debug as I do not have this controller. Granted I'll try and see if I can get a patch up soon, or post-jam.
As for the other crashes -- a bit concerning to see but I can't seem to replicate crashes locally on my windows or mac machines. I'll try and test on other machines that friends have and see if I can replicate any of the crash problems. Appreciate the feedback!
I can definitely see Celeste tributes here! Control, animations, audio, scenes, narrative; even how the characters hold together — a lot of work has gone into all the details, rendering a perfect mood and a pleasing action experience for the setting.
The game might not align quite well with the theme, but I think it has the potential for more extensions and depth, maybe more puzzle-solving and a flowing storyline. This surely can evolve into an intriguing, delicate experience, if the author wills. Yet it's impressive how a solo jammer has managed to deliver such a polished final product. Kudos!
What a beautiful and atmospheric game! It reminds me of Celeste, in a positive way of course.
I'm using a keyboard so I had a hard time when I started playing this game. But I managed to get used to it. The level design is solid and it provides a smoothing learning curve.
The game crashed once but it was somehow fixed after I restarted the game. I'm sure this small bug won't hurt the quality of the entire game.
The concept is just beautiful, as well as the graphics and soundtrack. I LOVE the idea of summoning in the natural lifecycle. It is also thought-provoking in addition to its authentic value.
Incredibly impressive for a solo-jam entry. Well done!
Wow! What a gem! I loved this game from the beginning, great atmosphere, music, cute graphics, animations (love the wall hugs) I didn't have a controller but playing with keyboard was actually quite fun as well... its a bit like playing piano, pushes your dexterity! After a while I really got the hang of it; and even when failing it feels very fair and not frustrating. I wonder how the experience on a game pad would be, definitely have to try that out in the future. Also, I'll try two player local coop with a friend! Probably much less challenging then but could be fun!
This is a beautiful entry! I love what you were able to create, it's super impressive for the short span of a jam. I really appreciate your choice of keeping the visuals and music simple and elegant (which is not easy to pull off!) The art is really beautiful, and the game has a lovely atmosphere. And the gameplay is challenging and interesting, forcing me to think differently. I love that it involves controlling two characters. Fantastic work!
Cool game, did not have a controller but still was fun and challenging to play with the keyboard!
Such a pretty game! The difficulty curve feels just right for getting used to the control scheme. Very well done.
I found it is possible for both players to climb each other to infinity, but not easy to pull off. Maybe there could be something interesting here..
I love this! Atmosphere and mood were fantastic, sound and music were great. Controls were a bit awkward - at some point very early I realized I could just keep the triggers (grab) depressed and everything was just simpler, I could play the whole game with just sticks and bumpers, and then it was pretty good (except for the pain in my fingers when I was done playing!). A slightly simpler control scheme were grabbing was the default/automatic would have really helped, I think. But, I really enjoyed the game, probably my favorite one I've played so far! All the puzzles felt really good, and weren't too difficult (I only died a couple times, from accidental telefragging).
My only complaint is that my only reward for getting up here (up and to the left of the initial spawn):resown1.png
Was this wonderful (if unsurprising) message when I ran off to the left =): ``` Error

An impressive well polished platformer for a game jam. The controls feel very good, which is very important for this kind of game. Moreover, the difficulty and level design are very well managed, and the game is very enjoyable to complete. Beautiful music and pixel art as well. A very nice entry, congratulations!
Wow, just wow! This is beautiful, challenging, unique and fun. The only negative is that it ends too soon.
This was great game. Too bad I didn't see it when that year's jam was on. Tried to play it with wife, but she couldn't get used to controller controls. Would have been great if there was keybinds setup. The mood, pizzles and graphics and everything were great and I could see this evolving into knytt-stories kinda fun, but playing together. (I know it was designed for single player but still)
