my computer had a hard time running this one but the art is awesome!
I love the graphics! and the music! Super quality stuff there. I wasn't too clear on how to progress meaningfully through the game with the petals, so maybe some more visual clarity or feedback would be helpful. great entry!
this is a cute game, but i was struggling to know what to do! I think some more feedback around when the water and food gauge is increasing would be helpful in getting more satisfaction from the gameplay. a nice atmosphere and mellow game overall
solid mood, gameplay, and I loved the music / sounds. a good simple shooter concept executed nicely! Well done :)
fun game! I wish the tutorial was slightly more baked into the gameplay but the concept was easy enough to learn. I enjoyed the voice acting too
I loved the hair losing mechanic and the general chaotic vibe of the experience, haha. Visually it took some time to understand what was going on, though maybe that is also part of the point ;) Nice entry!
This game is super fun -- well executed, and impressive that you got some enemy AI working. the mechanics you added felt like natural extensions of the game. Great work!
cool game and a neat idea, though I did find the game hard to play without a mouse (I was using a track pad). I think a little more visual clarity between the player ship and the environment would really help focus the gameplay.
I loved this one. Would love to see the idea expanded. Like a warioware style 2d gauntlet. Awesome entry!!
Loved this! the art was superb. The gameplay was cute and the detail on the monkey was amazing. cool use of the crank mechanic too! I'll admit the button mashing mud was slightly frustrating at times, but the level design was really fun regardless. Great job!!
I love this game, super simple to understand, super easy to get addicted, but not too stressful either. The gameplay loop is great, the art is awesome and cute, I think you nailed it
This is such a good puzzle game! so tricky but really fun
Interesting game! Really liked the twist on the theme, and its impressive that you've managed to implement a joke rating system, i'm super curious to know what tech you used for that! It would be interesting to know more about why the joke was funny or not, with some sort of feedback from why a joke succeeded or failed. Nice entry!
mac doesn't like game, but I do. the trippy shader errors were pretty fun. might be nice to add some barriers so you can't reach the edges of the level.
Once I got the hang of what I was supposed to do, I had fun with this one. the movement was fluid and everything worked as intended. I loved when the dragon lit the dudes on fire. it would be nice to ask for user input before proceeded to the next text box, as I wasn't able to read fast enough before the next set of instructions appeared.
I cant play your game as it seems the game tab freezes when I try to run it. almost like a while loop that is endlessly running. just wanted to give you a heads up. im on chrome on macos
how did you manage to make this on your PHONE!? okay despite it being one level I love the idea and it was pretty fun. my best time was 9.48 seconds.
Awesome puzzle game entry -- the pixel art style was top notch, loved the particles and the camera shake behavior. I do agree with the above that a reset option would be nice -- and I encountered the same bug as above which I think soft locked me?
Also, I had to use Z as my input, but the game was telling me A -- so something funky is going on there. A great game though!
awesome work -- the feedback you get from the buttons is very satisfying, and the resource management loop is pretty nice! and the art is so cute!
Lol this game is so chaotic and I love it -- great art style, banger music, fun gameplay, really excellent work all around. the 2.5d style is super neat too. I love how the audio changes per level, which helps keep the game feel fresh.
Also that last level is hilarious. Love this entry, great work y'all
@0x-void-x0 hey thanks for the kind words re: music :) I just tested the windows version and it appears to function on my machine, though you're right that the virtual machine might be getting in the way. Sadly getting a web build up of the game is no small task, but if I decide to take it on I'll let you know. Thanks again!
@sid37 the game is intended for one person using a controller to control both players -- kind of like the game "brothers" but in 2d space. I'm sorry about the keyboard experience! I don't have a gaming keyboard and so I prioritized controller in developing. I appreciate you giving it a shot :)
@p-man wow, thank you for such detailed and useful feedback!! really means a lot to me. I love all the game design ideas. it definitely feels like there's more to explore with the mechanic, and you've just conjured up some very interesting directions I could take this in, should I keep working on it.
the left-right switch up definitely adds a level of challenge and is worth exploring solutions for. If anything, perhaps an accessibility option that shows a little R or L icon above each character for further distinction. Will think more about that.
the characters climbing each other is a feature i'd love to implement, and probably would have caught if I had time for playtesting -- but its definitely something that should be added. I had a couple hours before submission to consider adding it but it felt too risky given potential unforeseen consequences on level design, so I decided not to. But it's absolutely possible and I might continue working on this project to add it -- it would probably be a really fun feature.
re: summoning theme. you're right, it's not super clear. my general abstract idea was that these two characters were being brought back to life, (aka 'summoned') by a force of nature that was compelling them to the cliffside with the huge plant, which is why they sink into the ground and turn into flowers at the end. but summoning was certainly not a focus in the gameplay :D
and finally, yes the sounds of the player movements are pitched slightly higher for one of the players, great catch and i'm stoked you noticed that. originally I went for chiptune sfx, but that turned out to be super grating, so it gave me an opportunity to do a little light-foley work and record my fingers tapping against the back of my hand.
thank you again for the detailed critique, super appreciated and thank you for playing!
@ogelgames oh no! What system are you using to run the game and what controller, if I may ask?
@ogelgames okay so i'm fairly certain it is a controller issue, though its difficult for me to debug as I do not have this controller. Granted I'll try and see if I can get a patch up soon, or post-jam.
As for the other crashes -- a bit concerning to see but I can't seem to replicate crashes locally on my windows or mac machines. I'll try and test on other machines that friends have and see if I can replicate any of the crash problems. Appreciate the feedback!
funny dialog and also my favorite game to play IRL, in summoning form! music would have helped with the experience and perhaps more polish on the UI and visuals, but a solid entry and pretty fun to read through all the dialog options :D
so much tomfoolery excellent voice acting and the gameplay was super easy to pickup and instantly enjoyable, which I love. great work y'all
Had a lot of fun with this one -- the game felt smooth and responsive, and there was a mystery to what I was doing at first that I was interested in understanding. I love that the dialogue forced me to use my brain a bit and really think about what I was doing -- after a few failed attempts I really started to get the hang of it.
The art is fabulous, the game seems really nicely designed and coded, and holy moly the sound design is stellar. I love the pitch-shifted vocals speaking in what sounds similar to Simlish but more slurry and strange, fitting the mood nicely. The ambience of the cauldron bubbling, the anticipation buildup of cooking, so good. It kind of reminds me of Breath of the Wild's cooking experience honestly. the way the music changes when you choose a mood / nightime or daytime is an excellent touch. All of this makes my brain very happy and really has a huge impact on my experience playing the game, its excellent audio feedback that keeps me engaged and builds anticipation.
I will say I wasn't _too_ clear on how to proceed after making the rahmen, but I did manage to get through a few rounds using my intuition, and figured I should match the number of ingredients that I used to make the first creature. I also found that the book didn't reveal more to me other than the Rahmen and the Blog -- maybe I missed something?
great work y'all!
love the twist on the theme -- love how I could pick up on what to do even with such a low-res game! I think that speaks to the power of the design. definitely felt the pressure, but just enough to feel really engaged the whole time. great entry
Strong VS vibes with this one and really fun! Nice work, I liked the rotating skeletons. Great work pulling this together
very neat concept, I love mind bending puzzle games and this is no exception. the level design is super neat! a couple light critiques would be the characters movement is very slow, and the experience of placing blocks felt a little tricky to get right. great entry and congrats!
absolute banger of a game and a terrific entry. love the art aesthetic and the moody vibes, and the sound design work is extremely solid. well done y'all, definitely a game i'd love to play with a controller -- would definitely love to see a build with that supported!
excellent work! love this mechanic, love me a good platformer. the song is rad, the sfx are on point, feels very arcady and classic.
The writing in this game was excellent! Well done there. Also enjoy being able to click through dialogue so I can read it at a faster pace. Enjoyed the platforming and spellcasting too. Great solo entry.
Cute short game, the pixel art is a highlight for me! Beautiful work there. Pretty easy to pick up and understand as well. Would love to see more expansion on this one -- perhaps additional levels if you plan on expanding on this game. Nice entry!
nice entry! the art is definitely a standout for me -- the colors and character design are excellent. I think something that could help is some sound effects for attacks, damage, etc.. would help build immersion. also I admit I got jump scared when the music started after the dialogue, haha. Nice work on this one :)
great entry, super fun -- kind of reminds me of the beginning of frog fractions for some reason -- loved the sequencing of numbers. one suggestion for audio might be to include a backing track, and have the notes you play work with the backing track, rather than just a single major scale-- that might make the game feel more musical. instantly engaging game, and clear objective just from the visual information alone, so great work there!!
Cute art, easy to pick up and play, and thanks for the tutorial! I do agree that having a more visible cooldown might help with the experience (perhaps knowing how much time it will take to get your move back with a progress bar?) -- that way you could strategize around that progress bar.
yay for controller based games! nice bullet hell entry and easy to pick up. I will say I got jumpscared by the intro SFX, it was a lot louder than the music! Fun and easy to get into. I liked it a lot :)
Very neat art & audio, and once I understood the task, the game picked up. Really neat idea, the deduction gameplay element felt pretty rewarding when you got it right. I do wish there was a way to speed up text, or click through text, as I found myself waiting a lot to read the information, when It would have been nice to just see it pop up immediately if I wanted. Solid entry and thanks for the mac os build! <3
Once I got the hang of what I was supposed to do I got into this one! Nice job with the lighting and the general feel -- the controls are nice and fluid and the attack feels pretty fair. One suggestion would be to add more audio cues, for attacking, summoning, etc -- which would definitely provide some valuable audio feedback during the experience. nice entry!
love the cat animation and the idea of a cat summoning baloons. It was tough to understand how I was progressing, but I did manage to defeat the candlestick. I really like the idea of entering in combos to get things to happen in the game -- definitely an idea worth exploring further!
The art is definitely the standout here. Very great looking impressionistic art. Echoing the sentiments above, however, I did get stuck, my character disappeared after going left cause I thought I got stuck in a loop. would love to see this concept explored further though! reminds me of the game gris a little bit.
this game is sick! the music vibes, the art is stellar, game plays smooth, dialog makes me laugh. the puzzle solving element requires some lateral thinking but in the best possible way. also extra cool to recognize some celeste modders in this jam... hi <3
Pixel art is a huge standout for me here -- fun concept too! I went the rat farming approach, which seems to yield success. I did struggle in understanding the UI, I'll admit. The audio was on point. Overall though a nice entry!
I was able to play for a little bit but then my browser crashed! What I did get to experience was pretty interesting though. It took me a minute to understand that the keys were Q,W and E -- I mistook the E for a <- arrow key.
puzzle design top notch on this one -- really clever use of rules and the expansion of the mechanic was clever. love the little cat designs too. managed to get through all 8 puzzles. great design, congrats!
