LD55 — Summoning

Summon-a-Spot by kuggenhoffen 2024-04-17T11:19:27Z

This reminds me of some sort of old-flash game I played, and definitely hits the 'fun' factor to me. - I spent longer than I'd like to admit trying to cheese out a couple levels (just to discover there's a penalty for hitting the barriers).

I personally don't feel this really fits the theme of 'Summoning', but other than that it's a great experience that feels like a re-imagining of games I last played a decade ago.

Puddle of Death by Shawn Beck 2024-04-17T15:28:54Z

This was a super fun game and one of the few games I've played where I was actually disappointed that it ended. The world is cute and the music fits really well. I feel like if you added just a little more content, or made some sort of endless mode, it'd be very hard to put down.

However, the camera could really use some work - It's really what holds this game back from being better. - It could do with being a little more zoomed out and much more static. - It's really the thing that holds this game back the most. (And probably the main reason I didn't replay it...)

A Grave Mistake by JUSTCAMH 2024-04-17T16:17:59Z

Unfortunately seems unplayable on the Downloadable file :( - I can dig up the two orange spots but I get softlocked from then onwards

Hell of a job by boudoubouda 2024-04-17T11:44:31Z

Great interpretation of the theme - The music makes you feel much more rushed than you actually are, adding a great sense of tension to everything.

Honestly my only disappointment in this game is that I wished it went on for longer. Some more levels in a post-jam release would be neat!

The First of the End by Flokami 2024-04-17T14:41:00Z

Definitely a great start, however the controls are a little unintuitive at first - Once I figured them out I was able to fight the monsters, but never really found them a threat.

The dash is fun to use and it's nice that the enemies can also use the dash, forcing you to give them a wide berth and can catch you off-guard.

Summoning Sun by Kamuniaft 2024-04-17T11:28:44Z

A game that tells you nothing, but also everything that you needed to know. The strong standout for me is the sound! Playing this with headphones on and listening to the sound get more creepy as time went on was intense. The theme is strong here and not knowing exactly what was going on definitely adds to the experience. A great short little experience.

I like the idea and the first few levels were quite good, however after a short period of time it starts to become very trial-and-error.

Additionally, I'm not sure if it's a bug but I had to mute the audio after not very long, thanks to it seemingly peaking out constantly and making a horrible crackling sound the entire time.

HEXX by andrewkennedy 2024-04-15T23:36:12Z

The first game so far that I've seen that made me immediately stop and play it - It's such a brilliantly simple concept executed flawlessly. (Even if the AI kicked my rear...) - Definitely keeping this as a game to play with friends. Great work!

Ascension by Gabriel Chan 2024-04-17T16:23:14Z

As someone who's useless at rhythm games, I can't say for certain how good the later levels are, but the fact that in just 72 hours this seems really polished, has a unique soundtrack and even has calibration does wonders!

Summoner Kit Simulator by Francois Dervaux 2024-04-17T15:59:51Z

This game has the worst control scheme I think I've ever experienced, and I love it so much for that. The ending had me (and the people I was in a call with) in hysterics the entire time and I don't think there's any words adequate to describe what experiencing this game blind was like.

Frame Wizards by AlezJL 2024-04-17T14:23:01Z

A fun little puzzle! It took me longer than I'd like to admit that I could go back to the previous screen to try other combinations. Definitely quite short & sweet but is a nice use of the summoning theme.

SAKURA by ZekySky 2024-04-17T14:55:02Z

I Quite enjoyed this one! Despite not reading how to play it only took a couple turns to figure out the rules & how to play. While Hard mode kicked my rear, I had a good time with the easy mode, at least :P

The music nicely fits the ninja theme & I always enjoy a creative interpretation of the theme

Hell's On Hold by OblivionCreator 2024-04-16T00:02:16Z

LDJam seems to not like the files I've uploaded so please use the itch.io build instead because it actually allows you to download the game. (Update - It finally let me reupload the game! The uploaded file is the final build compiled before the jam ended)

@saryah Yeah I agree - The limit to post-it notes was implemented very last minute and I never had time to fix the bug with them not disappearing properly.

I initially wrote-off a post-jam release considering how the development went (see https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/55/hells-on-hold/the-creation-of-hells-on-hold for more info) but seeing all the feedback makes me want to polish a post-jam release a lot more.

@bumble Oh dear - That's the first we're hearing of a crash since the initial launch - Don't suppose you have the traceback, or know roughly how long the game had been going on/ points achieved?

A Following Wind by digitaliliad 2024-04-18T15:50:30Z

I ended up playing this for much longer than I anticipated! It's such a calming little game, (until you see a ship on a crash-course and start frantically trying to spin it around...). Great Job!
