Nice Asteroid game
I really like how tense the game gets with the music changing pitch! I quit at 70 points. Since the attack is not limited i can really hammer the space key to slam everything! I find it best to stand in the center like a turret since i then have the most time to react. I had a lot of fun, well done!

I like the sound effects
It's a fun concept. I got a high score of 32. Really fun!
Maybe shrink space faster so the player realizes quickly what's going on? Otherwise it feels like it's just an astroids clone.

I love the reimagining of asteroids. A funny case of using the size of the game screen as a reducing unit.
I love the unique feel of controlling the rocket and the tension as the borders gradually close in. The aliens are tricky, but since they reset all the borders, I kind of look forward to encountering them. The accelerating BGM and the hollow sound effect when the game is over are really appealing to me. :)
A clever idea with the theme and I liked the sound effects. As some earlier posters I would have liked the shrinking to be faster and impacting the gameplay more. That being said I enjoyed it, great work!
Very nice game for first ludum dare! well done! We also had very similar ideas for the theme. :)
good game,i think maybe give a begin velocity will better
I liked the audio of the game and the shrinking borders caught me off guard in a good way. It was a good use of the theme to add a twist to a more familiar game.
Fun asteroids clone with a theme twist. Enjoyed playing. I couldn't tell if the asteroids despawned as soon as they were off screen or if the laser was just hitting its range limit.
Neat game, my initial assumption was that you could loop to other side from the edges like in most asteroids style games I've played, somehow making the border more obviously dangerous could have been good.
Fun! I like how the music pitch really adds to the intensity.
clever idea mate, really liked the idea. i lost twice coz i pressed 's' to reverse but it didnt work lol. good job! btw my hight score is 11
- Nice music and simple art - The rocket movement isn't the most useful since it's best to stay in the middle, maybe sometimes dodge the fast moving asteroids, but by that time I was getting overrun anyway having no where to escape to. - Currently you can just spam shoot which isn't the most fun, since you have no decision other then how badly do you want to destroy your keyboard, maybe you could load the shoot making it more powerful over time, better than single jabs, hurts more when you miss.
Now that's a clever mechanic. And I like the sfx, very punchy.
Nice game, I love the music and sound effects!
This game is quite challenging! It reminds me of classic Atari games like Asteroids. Great job!
A fun and challenging game! My only suggestion would be to have the score start going up a bit earlier, because at first I kept getting a score of 0 and thought there was some other mechanic I was supposed to use.
Nice classic asteroids-like game. My best score is 36. Not sure the purpose of the "Quit" button :)
Makes me go :3 - very nice!
Good idea to provide a challenge with your score, I didn't come close :)
Nice game. I like the little details like the alien losing legs to show his hp, the music getting faster as the space shrinks. I'm quite bad at it though :P
I got 66 before I realized I could move forward/backward and immediately goofed myself up trying to do too much v_v
A very simple twist on a simple game, and it plays very well! I did miss the "splitting" mechanic from the classic game, but you took the theme and integrated it nicely with an existing experience. Nicely done! :tada: I got a high score of 82.
59... Not as good as your game! Really fun, addictive, i love it! Thank you for this great entry! You match the theme at 100%. Great work!
Fun simple game! I feel like the space should only get kicked back a little bit instead of resetting when killing an alien, so that the borders closing in has a larger effect on the gameplay. You should also add a little timer to force the player to move, or make it so they're constantly accelerating (slowly). You did a great job on your first Ludum Dare game  I can't wait to see what you make next time!
Overall fun concept and game. Works well with the theme. And you actually exported the unity project properly to match the aspect ratio SO THANK YOU! Congratulations on the submission!
Great job on your first COMPO entry! I particularly enjoyed the exhaust flame. I was trying to do something similar on my game a couple of years ago but it didn't come out to be nearly as good looking as yours. Would you mind sharing how you created that? XD
I like your take on the classic asteroids game and how shooting down different asteroids have different effects. I also like how the music gradually speeds up as the borders close in. Personally I would have preferred up/down/left/right controls and mouse to shoot for the ship, using arrow keys to rotate has always felt clunky to me. Great work on your first entry!

Got to 62! I really like how the music's pitch is getting higher and higher the lesser space you have left. The Controls are a bit tough to get used to, but it's not a bad thing! Great work ^^
"360 no scope - the game." Very fun, great game feel. I like your interpretation of the theme. A lot of little fun minutiae that tells me you have an eye for details. Very solid for your first Ludum Dare, keep it up!
Haha nice one, we both made an asteroids game! It is fun, but the controls are hard to get used to, but once I played for a bit I got there. Took me far too long to work out I could shoot too ngl Good one!
Got 67! Really fun, now I need to take a break and rest my wrist which is sore from pressing the space bar rapidly. Tip: the faster you press the space bar, the faster the bullets will shoot.
Fun take on Asteroid. I think you have a bug where moving with W does not produce particles and sound, but moving with the arrow key does.
Simple and fun, I love it!
I had a similar idea with shrinking space but decided to go another route, it's cool to see someone did it :) I didn't realize at first that I could shoot, and that made the game much harder ahah. I dunno if it's intended or not, but the grey asteroids started to follow me all around the map, which was a surprise.
A cool game overall !
I liked it but I'm suspicious because I really like 2D ship games. The new thing here is that the screen shrinks. The fact that you can't hold down the button and shoot is annoying, pressing the space bar instead of holding it down doesn't seem like a good idea,
Funny, since Ludum Dare 42's theme was "Running out of Space". Anyway, this was a fun game, I had a score of 123. I liked being squeeze by some form of void in space itself, as if space wasn't already void. The only aspect I think could have been better is the music, it's repetitive and feels like it's looping every few seconds, but at least the tempo changed depending on how tight the screen became.
The spaceship controls were smooth and movement was fun! I liked the sound of the game and the detail of increasing the music's BPM was nice.
In the games like this I wish I wouldn't need to repeatedly press the fire button. Since there is no penalty for shooting without stopping, the player will be spamming the button anyway. An auto-fire would also be OK: you could concentrate on moving instead of having to spam the button that doesn't serve a lot of purpose. At least that's my take on the gameplay. If there would be some mechanics around that, it would be a different story, but there is no reload time or energy cost, so the faster key presser wins.
Also, I can swear the music was changing its speed during the game.
Other than that, I was able to beat your score. Albeit just barely. :D

154 points! Good thing i practiced rapidly pressing buttons in Track & Field on the NES. Nice job - quite stressful
Funny enjoyable game! Looks complete and well done! I'm not good at playing such games and my score isn't big but i managed to stay at one point without moving ang shoot several enemies, this game is great timekiller! Also cool sound on fail :)
Good job on your first LD! :) A simple but interesting game that I enjoyed, I got to 51. The increasing pitch and shrinking space manage to build up the tension, and not being able to go backwards with the ship makes anticipation interesting. The small but sufficient variety of debris was a good touch. I would have appreciated a little something, even just a line of text, to have some narrative glue as to why destroying asteroids widens the space ("Lost in the outskirts of space aboard a trusty old ship, you do what you can. Delay the anxiety of your inevitable doom by destroying all the debris you can. Enjoy it while it lasts" or something). Another idea more on the GD side to spice up interest: presently, there's infinite ammo, thus no downside to spamming the spacebar. It's a first-order optimal strategy, nothing wrong with that, but the player input to execute it is annoying. Either lean into it by allowing to shoot by simply holding (and maybe, as downside, the debris splits into parts? I don't know, and it's one more feature cram into the 48h, hard), or add a downside to shooting (e.g. a cooldown, more manageable within the time limit) to deepen the tactical aspect.
I'm a sucker for a good Asteroids-type game, but also I love how you implemented the theme. Are my ears on the fritz, or does the music get more intense as time goes on? My one gripe is that the gameplay is a real workout on my fingers - an autofire feature would've been nice! (I've also been playing enough Dome Keeper to think that an aiming indicator would be a nice touch, but that might make things too easy XD)
(Couldn't beat your high score, but I liked your game enough to make an attempt at it!)
Pretty small game - pretty fun game :-)
Increasing music speed adds greatly to the experience!
