Damn, I got more pleasure from your game than from the latest AAA-games
Small compact platformer. In my opinion, there could have been a little bit more game juice in the movement and in the shooting. But good entry anyhow.
didnt do to well, i kept trying to push space or up on the arrow keys to jump. for some reason i couldnt get X to register for jump in my brain. for situations like this, you could implement multiple input maps so you have multiple ways for ppl to control the game.
Its cute appearance perfectly hides an entertaining as well as challenging game. The character's movement and jumping controls are very good and enjoyable.
Fun game, love me some platformers. The exploding slimes are the bane of my existence, but no alternative than to improve how I play I suppose.
I like the controls. The precision jumping feels good in this one. I wish it had mid-level checkpoints. I failed the second level somewhere near the end due to the crazy bouncing enemy. I couldn't efficiently kill it, so it camped below me and waited until I'll go down to progress.
The graphics are good, this is probably the second best part about the game, after the sweet controls.
nice graphics/audio/gameplay, but I couldn't see the limited space theme. great entry tho!
I agree that the theme was not particularly well represented, but this is a really tight and well designed platformer, especially for the compo. The levels had just enough "exploration" to not feel too easy, and the slow ramp up in difficulty enabled me to learn as I went (though I stilled died more than I care to admit). Great job!
great entry, the visuals and musics work great for the ambiance of the game. For plateformers like this, there are lots of known tricks to make to character movement fells better that you could use, for example making the player fall quicker than he jumps so the jump fells less floaty You already use a variable jump height depending on the length of the jump button pressing, that bring lots of control  , and there are lots of great tutorials that you can find on this subject, that can greatly improve it even more !
The visual are nice, there was a genral lack of juice, particles explosions camerashakes etc. a more standard keys to move would have been helpful(i definetely did not edit the keys in the godot editor before i played the game and still found it wayy too hard). The movement is annoyingly hard, that adds to the challenge i guess.. the jumps are also a bit wierd, adding a minimu jump height would be better. and adding accelerating gravity will make the jumps feel less floaty. Some checkpoints would make the experience better fornewer players as this is quite hard game. I didnt find the use of the theme anywhere in the game.
Nice platformer you got there, you did the player movement very well with mechanics like varied jump height, acceleration and deceleration, free fall speed, all of that made the movement feel very natural and forgiving. And the graphics and audio are pretty good, you even made animations for the player and enemies, which is impressive given the short time period for Compo entries!
As the downside, I didn't quite used to the key binding of the game, like the "X" key for jump and "G" for restart. And the player can be killed in 1 hit by any enemies, after that I have to play the entire level again, which makes the game quite hard to say the least. I think you should add some kind of checkpoints at certain parts of the level, that would encourage players to continue playing if they failed.
Overall, it's a great game. You did an amazing job!
Two problems: it needs some checkpoints, I didn't finish it because it felt frustrating to retrace all my progress over and over after getting killed later on in the level; jump is quite nice but it feels a bit floaty, more gravity in the second part (when you stop holding jump button) would make it feel better I'm sure.
Other than that it's a really nice entry! I enjoyed shooting and jumping, interesting and varied enemies, music is really good and artwork fits the game very well. Good job!
I had a lot of fun playing this! The controls were really satisfying and precise. I enjoyed the varied enemies, they were all very different and inventive. The bouncing enemies were my favorites, I liked the puzzle element of trying to get them stuck somewhere. I think the game was a bit too difficult for me, I got stuck on level 2. But that might be a personal preference and I'm a bit torn about that feedback, since the difficulty was also part of why it was so fun to play.
The one hit death seemed a little unforgiving. Maybe add a life meter. Jumping felt a little floaty but otherwise solid.
Really polished game! Loved the sound design and music vibe, and the art is nice. I don't see the connection to the theme that much, and a gameplay mechanic other than jump and shoot would make it stand out a lot more!
Awesome little platformer. The controls felt great, the graphics cute, and I really like the music. Does sound nice, and not too repetitive. I also liked the fact that, sometimes, you can trick those yellow blobs into the pits, otherwise, they become too annoying. It's quite hard though, but very enjoyable.
Great entry for a compo. GG.
I love the look of the slug guys but I hate that they shred me to bits every time. I think I got to the second level where it's four slug guys and the bouncing yellow ball... couldn't get through it!
I thought it was fun and it looks cool!
This game is really cool, I loved the art and the music. At the same time as challenging, it's relaxing.
I liked the random tiling pattern on the ground tiles!
I'm really impressed with the art, music, and level design. The diversity in enemy attacks adds an intriguing element to the game. However, I found the control for jumping with the X key somewhat unintuitive, as my instinct was to reach for the space bar whenever an enemy approached. It would be great if there were extra lives available, as it was quite frustrating to restart from the very beginning after just one hit. Overall, though, well done!
Fun game! I loved the pixel art. The gameplay is pretty challenging but fun. The level design of the last level was amazing. It really felt complete. I only wish you could hold to shoot, so I wouldn't need to spam my keyboard...
Nice platformer, very good level design (something I always struggle with platformers).
Loose on the theme, but besides of that: Different Enemy Types, pickups (although only for counting), traps, good graphic style: Pretty good entry!
I didn't finished it because I was too frustrated by the yellow enemies, but this is a really solid entry and still had a lot of fun.
The graphics are good, very clean and fits nicely to the mood as well as the music.
The level design is ok, but levels are at least twice as big as what they should be, make more compact levels!
The gameplay is good (jumping feels great), but as I was saying it's frustrating because one mistake and you die. The yellow thingy are bad because they are hard to avoid and can't really be killed, they should have had only 1-2 hp.
Not sure how it fits the theme but it was a nice little platforming game. Good job
edit: also the sprites are incorrectly rendered, you can see pixels from the upper sprite in some animations, in the tiles and even in the background, it didn't bother me a lot but it could have been more polished.
so hard to pass those levels,I hate the circle monster in level two, hard to kill can move so fast,,while this game is interesting and have lot of fun xD,nice work
Great mood and style. Reminded me of the Master Blaster game on NES when you would hop out of your tank and run around as the little guy. Fun!
I think I have a lot of the same problems everyone else already mentioned, so instead I'll share some stuff I liked. You're are and mood are cool, made me feel like I was playing metroid on the original nes! Speaking of metroid, I think a lot of these mechanics could work really well as a metroidvania type game, if you're into that kind of thing. Your music was really nice and fit pretty well. Ultimately the lack of checkpoints is what made me give up on finishing. It's still cool though, nice job!
Love the art, specially the tile are and the background, gameplay was alright, like the enemy variety. Game desperately needed checkpoints. It's like a really unfair nes game. I agree that the yellow blobs should only have 2hp, would make them more manageable. Overall good effort.
I think all of the different enemy types worked really well together. The exploding slimes were especially unique, and I like how they forced me to re-adjust my jumps mid-air based on how the pieces landed. Some people are saying it was too hard, but I think the overall difficulty was about right.
I liked the game but it lacked checkpoints, that killed a lot of the fun, because at the end of the level going back through the whole level isn't possible, in my opinion, but I know that maybe due to time it wasn't possible to implement it. A single life is also tense, but the checkpoint would make up for it. The graphics are simple but well fitted
The game has a very coherent style and that makes it feel very polished. The quick introduction of controls and mechanics as you play is a very good addition. Like someone else mentioned, adding some checkpoints would make it easier to learn from mistakes. Overall a solid entry, well done!
Challenging game, I nearly finished level 2, will get back to it soon :) So far I've seen only 3 mob types, and I appreciate how you managed to place them in varied situations. I wish it the levels were shorter to make up for the difficulty, but I guess it's part of the challenge. Nice work on the backgrund music, and nice graphics even though both don't contribute to making a distinct mood. Good job!
