LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Hula Hype by conrad123 2020-10-26T06:20:36Z

I had fun trying to look at both the hoop balancing and trying to avoid all the other people/dogs :)

I really like the artwork together with the music and the hula theme, it creates this chill silly mood which fits together nicely!

It sometimes felt like the beat versus hula was a bit off, but maybe that was just me struggling to survive at the same time :P

Overall a great entry, I had fun playing, good job!

Hula Hype by conrad123 2020-10-27T08:23:10Z

@conrad123 I was using the web version yes. I'm using your average HyperX over-ear headphones (but I never had issues with sound being noticeably delayed otherwise), I hope this helps you :P

LoopyDraw by sanojian 2020-10-11T10:11:44Z

Very interesting entry, I ended up doodling quite a bit and enjoyed it :D Didn't expect an entry like this here!

Rest In Peace by Somnium 2020-10-14T20:56:01Z

A short and nice experience!

The music and graphics fit well with the atmosphere, love the darker theme and the nice glowing animation of the evil spirit slab :P

Loop Bouncer by pkenney 2020-10-08T18:30:54Z

That was super fun, I actually played through all levels :D

Great balance of feeling like achieving something and just bouncing around because it's fun :P

You wanted to create an arcade game and you totally nailed it :sparkles:

Loop Invader by Ale 2020-10-11T10:31:05Z

Super interesting concept! I really like the pace of observing and trying to figure out what's going on! Paired with the music it was a relaxing and fun experience!

Also thanks for putting so much effort into the tutorial and the video!

Dank Dungeon by jondalnas 2020-10-14T21:09:02Z

Everything looks super sweet :heart: I felt like a turtle with the backpack and the moving sound :D

Really love how many different types of enemies all with their animation cycles and different attack patterns you were able to put in. I was able to feel the dread when the skeletons homed in on me with their slightly different movement sound :P Oohnnooooo

Also overall a great difficulty level!

I enjoyed playing, good job!

Around by Stadoblech 2020-10-26T14:59:38Z

Great entry, congrats to putting this together within one hour :D I actually really like the simple graphics (you were even able to put in fancy rotation animations which feel really good) and the gameplay is super straightforward and gets harder over time! I had fun playing :)

Control Loss by D-Studios 2020-10-11T11:15:53Z

Solid gameplay loop, movement, shooting and all collisions worked as you'd expect! I would have liked more of a progress curve with more enemies or different wall alignments for the waves, but this might fit the theme better :)

Some of the out of control moments felt a little unforgiving as you could just crash into a wall :P

As already mentioned in the comment above: Nice touch with adding your own graphics and music!

Wild Ride by CaptainDreamcast 2020-10-06T19:32:35Z

Fantastic game, fantastic execution!

Really interesting concept with the rail breaking. I especially love speeding up like a madman and then just hitting random spots on the rails, hoping for the best :D

I'm guessing if you play this long enough it could get a little frustrating :P That's part of the game for me here though. The only thing I would complain about if you charged me for playing this would be the music that is getting repetitive with all the restarts I have to make :P

Thanks for investing time into the story aspect too, that made it all the more enjoyable :D

Again: great idea/concept and fun game you put together in such a short amount of time!

Mr Ballman by MrSchlag2 2020-10-08T04:11:45Z

Outstanding music, I really liked shooting and jamming :D

Good idea with the charge and shoot mechanic, very easy to get into and clear how it works with the nice 'tutorial' when you start the game. The simple but nice graphics look and feel great and also fit with the music and sound effects.

Adding the current and total number of waves to go really made this feel better for me and I wanted to finish it, I really liked that over infinite waves here, so thanks for that!

That was fun :)

Sushi Scramble by Ranjan 2020-10-26T08:00:06Z

Whaat did I just play :D Very interesting idea, I like the silly phyics together with the art and music, creates a very fun mood :D It's just a little hard to actually get somewhere - I fell through the floor or got grabbed by a hand which I wouldn't have expected to hit me :P Good job :D I had fun

Satellone by Weirdybeardyman 2020-10-05T07:25:50Z

Very nice looking game with a great music, mood, visuals and mechanic! I love the moon and the sound effects :D Unfortunately I often got stuck on the moon or in space without fuel, just drifting along with no fuel bubbles or asteroids hitting me xD and the dialogue at the beginning was a bit too slow for a quick restart :P I really like that there is dialogue though, it creates a great atmosphere together with the music!

Overall: great game which fits the theme perfectly, I'm impressed!

Weighing of the Heart by thesedatedprince 2020-10-08T18:44:48Z

Very fancy art/mood/style-wise with fitting music and a very interesting concept. The animations feel especially detailed and nice, it looks like you invested a lot of time here. Also I think you really nailed the theme.

Unfortunately I somehow felt a little stuck always watching the same scene with citizen A or B getting killed over and over :D I like the people running backwards train :P (I was warned)

Beatbox Gardener by star-sought 2020-10-05T16:59:41Z

That was fun, casual and relaxing :D Great music and variation, sounds great with every composition! I also like the take on the theme, fits and feels great!

Stuck In Orbit by kamen Kitanov 2020-10-05T08:08:03Z

Getting moneys from shooting asteroids and spacefireballs is fun :P

The game works great and I like the artwork with the fancy sprite animations! It's super simple to pick up and play with an overall difficulty that makes it easy to get into. The turrets were also straightforward to build and clear in what they do. I missed music a little to help with the overall mood and feel.

Overall: 10/10 Would spray lasers in outer space again :P

Fruits of Insight by JakobTheQuizGuy 2020-10-08T19:06:24Z

Fantastic looking creature and animations, biting and jumping felt really satisfying in both animation and sound!

The mood feels great together with the wonky music, the colors and the background, I really like what you accomplished here!

I also found the in-between sections a bit long, but as you already mentioned that wasn't your intention but simply a time issue :P Same goes for restarting from the beginning without the pickups.

Overall a very fitting entry with a lovely character :) Nice!

LoopBerries by sekol 2020-10-26T15:12:41Z

So many concepts made it into this game :D I'm glad I don't live in this world, this was very hostile :P I'm impressed by the sheer number of things you managed to add - from the clones to berries within berries within berries!

Harvest Minute by Malai 2020-10-25T16:24:03Z

Got 27 parsnips! That took me forever :D

I liked the art and the gameplay! The character was a little slow and the collisions sometimes felt a little unforgiving as others already mentioned, but overall an enjoyable experience!

I really like the idea of positioning your tools for the next loop of the same day, maybe that mechanic could be expanded upon if you plan to work on this in the future :)

Good job!

Through Cosmos by Hadryel 2020-10-08T18:54:19Z

Looking great! The animations are super fancy

Gameplay was nice, good combination of combat and resource gathering with nice touches such as the weapon reload or the drilling needing some time to finish. The laser is not really shooting where the mouse is, which felt a little frustrating sometimes :P

was also great to just pick up and play without very many instructions - that said I think you did a great job with the tutorial slides!

I had to chuckle when I was drilling the trees :D

Good job, I had fun!

Magical Marissas Troubles with Time by TheseusInABottle 2020-10-06T17:55:46Z

That music :D

I like the models and textures, it gives the game character (fits great with the humourus music!) and it feels like you put a lot of work into them - especially the wand looks very fancy!

The game overall was a fun journey with a satisfying "yay I did it" ending :) Nice!

Grinding Gears by Pincushion 2020-10-25T16:04:45Z

Wow, what an interesting mechanic with really intricate puzzles! I spent a few minutes solving that last one, super nice!

I'm very impressed with what you were able to put together here, especially that you were even able to add character animation and music&sound when you spent what I assume has to be lots of time on the mechanic and the puzzle content.

As already mentioned by others: the minimap was super helpful when solving the puzzles!

A really stunning entry, great work!

Perseverance by freeworld 2020-10-06T10:06:50Z

@theseusinabottle @timeloopedpowergamer @weirdybeardyman @sinusquell @zimny11

Thank you all very much for the reviews! I'm super glad you liked the style and the music!

Aaaaand I absolutely agree that it's very unclear what the buttons do and what the goal is right now xD I ran out of time there :P I'll definitely focus more on that next time, lesson learned (hopefully).

Perseverance by freeworld 2020-10-06T17:03:34Z

@kamen-kitanov Thanks a lot! Haha I definitely had the 'uh oh I only got one hour left and the main game loop is not working yet' moment :D But I did a bad job in terms of not even thinking about all of that. It would maybe be easier replacing the icons with actual text or just add some description underneath the buttons, even though it doesn't look great..

Sure :D I use "Figure" by Propellerhead (Reason Studios) on my phone (iOS, not sure if it also exists on android or if there even is a PC version) to create the basic parts and then put them together using GarageBand. I absolutely love the simplicity and accessibility of Figure and it still has some power to tweak stuff. In case you own a tablet: I think Reason Studios also has even more powerful and fancier tools there.

I hope that information is useful to you!

Perseverance by freeworld 2020-10-07T06:00:21Z

@madbookstudios Thank you very much! I'm glad you like the mood! The UI definitely is a problem right now xD I added some description to this page in the hopes it would at least help getting into it :fingers_crossed: :)

@eldar please don't feel dumb, the game really has minimal description at best xD I should maybe stick to numbers instead of these obfuscated progress bars next time.. I wanted to get by with as little text as possible, that was probably a mistake for a game like this for a game jam :D I'd say it is best to plant one tree and while you wait for it to grow plant a second one (since that part works without the player's involvement) - but there might be someone proving me wrong here :P Thanks for playing and the review!

@binaryprinciple Thank you very much! I'm glad you liked the gameplay once you got used to it :)

Perseverance by freeworld 2020-10-07T16:13:30Z

@judgezedd Thanks a lot for the kind words and the review!

Haha that sounds about right :D

Perseverance by freeworld 2020-10-09T07:12:39Z

@hadryel Thank you very much :D The struggle is real :P A high score system / leaderboard sounds like a great idea, I originally wanted to add one, but in the end I barely got the game working so I had to scrap that :D

@discoreunion Thanks a lot! I'm glad you liked the mood and colors :) Yeah the game lacks a lot in descriptions and hints so that's definitely something I want to try a different route for the nex time, thanks for the feedback!

Perseverance by freeworld 2020-10-09T18:00:04Z

@thesedatedprince Thanks a lot! I'm glad you like the mood/art/music side of the game :)

Unfortunately I didn't have time for many iterations on the balancing and numbers so it's not really a part I'm proud of xD I'm happy to hear that you were still able to enjoy it!

Perseverance by freeworld 2020-10-12T14:08:50Z

@louiejams Thanks a lot! I'm glad you liked those parts! That fits previous feedback and my fears perfectly xD It's not very balanced and it's not very clear what you should/can do.

@thedoctoroftime Thanks you very much! It makes me happy that you liked the feel and the music :)

Perseverance by freeworld 2020-10-15T06:17:00Z

@blue-pin-studio Thanks a lot for the review and the honesty :P I'm glad you liked the art and the music :)

Perseverance by freeworld 2020-10-19T06:59:27Z

@ale Thanks a lot for the review and the ideas! I like the 'additional worker', it would almost make this a real clicker game then :P I'll definitely consider this if I keep working on the game!

Perseverance by freeworld 2020-10-24T14:32:30Z

@trexxak thanks for the honest review :)

Perseverance by freeworld 2020-10-26T06:07:15Z

@pkenney Thank you very much! I'm glad you liked the mood and the grinding experience and that the instructions were helpful :P I definitely need to put in hover tooltips or other tutorial/explaining elements if I continue to work on this..

Loopertary by BinaryPrinciple 2020-10-06T09:26:24Z

Fun to play! I wish it had some sense of progress such as more enemies or more health for the enemies for later loop iterations, but the gameplay is interesting and fun! I like how you get used to switching weapon types, jumping around, the hex tile movement / shooting understanding, I felt like I learned it and got better over time! I agree with the tutorial looking a little overwhelming at first, but I also got into it quickly. The extra touch of adding a story is nice :)

Looped by zimny11 2020-10-06T06:47:39Z

I had fun with this :D Love the idea, the humor, the simplicity and the interesting trick with the number! It's hard to tell when you're actually stuck for real :P I'm not sure if I actually finished all content, but after spending a few minutes clicking around and pressing all the keyboard keys I gave up xD

Tomb of the Mummy RL by Eldar 2020-10-06T20:23:54Z

Feels polished, is challenging and I'm really impressed that you even put together a leaderboard!

The level generation feels very diverse, the runs felt different.

Explanations and gameplay were clear pretty quickly, altough I do have to say I'm not used to the graphics and my eyes started to hurt after the 3rd run xD I think it was a super fitting choice here though, so props for that!

Great execution of a classic with the theme blending in nicely and interesting procedural generation, I had fun!

Tomb of the Mummy RL by Eldar 2020-10-07T06:07:30Z

@eldar Nice that you already had a solid foundation for adding the leaderboard :)

Hmm I might have to say it was the contrast of the yellow room on the black background. The thing is I like the color choice because I think it fits the tomb really well so I wouldn't want it changed :D Maybe it would already be better if the walls were a different color than the floor...? That's just a guess though.

Reloop by LukeBandy 2020-10-06T20:06:11Z

Super nice puzzler with impressive mechanic! It also seems to work super solid, which is impressive for only 48 hours (I at least imagine it being complicated enough to implement :D)!

I also really like how complex it gets later on, you put in lots of effort with the content!

Great game, I had fun!

Infinite Rainbow Tower Smash! by madbookstudios 2020-10-24T17:51:18Z

Super easy to get into with an easy to grasp and fun to play concept which fits the theme perfectly. An interesting idea with the drilling, maybe that could even be expanded on somehow..?

Also great easing into the game with the tutorial directly where you actually apply it, it's great that you invested time into this!

Very nice effects with the particles, character bounciness, colors and sound effects fitting great into the whole rainbow mood, I really like what you were able to put together here!

Cycle Through by TheDoctorOfTime 2020-10-11T10:04:24Z

I like the wobbliness of the character when jumping and the sound effects when shooting/punching enemies! The abilities felt a little weird, I basically always ended up just sitting where I was with the bubble and the melee attack is inferior to the ranged attack in every way (also it seemed like it got stuck from time to time? :P)

Went up to level 11 to see if something changes over the course of different waves and it was satisfying to kill the enemies with the nice particle effects, but it got a little repetitive after a while as no real threat seemed to come from those guys :P Still a solid entry for the short amount of time! I'm not really sure about your joke about this being your GMTK submission :D

RESET HOOLIGANS by BlaiseRascal 2020-10-08T04:01:13Z

Super interesting concept!

I unfortunately also didn't get in the first level that I can interact with other things than just the suicididal hooligan and the reset device. I think with a very obvious first level you could get eased into the game if you plan on working on this after the jam.

I also really liked the art style, especially the rotating cylinder looked and felt great! Also that you could spin people to death :D

Great job! I had fun :)

Grind by ChickenCastle 2020-10-06T18:06:51Z

You had me with "you find an empty desk and go to sleep" :D

The grind feels very real! The tasks are quite diverse though and I always felt like I got something to do. The environment also looks very pretty and the concepts of drinking and eating were immediately clear! I also love the other characters moving about the room (and them being veggies looks nice :D) - it feels very much alive!

I really dig this game! Feels very complete and polished as well and it's even got the leaderboard going for it, NICE!

bloTT by MiniBetrayal 2020-10-06T09:41:34Z

I almost got mad from jumping around in the same sections over and over, fits the theme very well, good job! I really didn't want to fail those last few jumps and get grilled by the lasers, that was stressful :P

Also thanks for putting in an ending, that was rewarding :) I had fun playing

(small note: it didn't work on Firefox for me, but ran perfectly fine on Chrome just in case anyone else is having trouble)

Back And Forth by Kisk 2020-10-06T09:50:15Z

Super polished experience - looking very pretty with super solid gameplay mechanics and lots of levels. The rewind effect after finishing a level looked especially fancy :) I feel like you could charge money for this :P The only thing I would like to have in there would be some kind of checkmarks for already completed levels in the level selection screen.

I'm really impressed, even stunned, you put this together in such a short amount of time, you did a fantastic job!

Jessica Calls by yellowmoleproductions 2020-10-06T17:32:04Z

Very nice presentation with music, graphics and mood way up there! The item dragging was a bit too fast for me, but since I got awarded with going to the club that's fine :P

I really liked the presentation with the menu, the 'finished stage' animation, the characters/creatures and the overall style!

Koinax Loop by dreamscale 2020-10-05T07:52:04Z

Great game! I had fun playing!

I really like the darker theme, the spaceship model and the terrain (including textures)! I love how you can pick the powerups, it looks great, is very intuitive and feels like you have some control over how you progress.

Overall very impressive how much you were able to pack into the game in this short amount of time.

Lonely Blob by SinusQuell 2020-10-06T19:06:39Z

I like squirrels too :D Loved the easter eggs :D (I also discovered the other one :P)

That was a fun experience!

You created a really nice ambience with the few, clear colors, the nice lighting and the music!

Funnily enough I feel like I watched a Brackeys tutorial lately which was all about lighting, positioning and presentation to make the game feel better, I somehow found a lot of those things in this game :D was that an inspiration?

I feel like you did a great job in building solid, simple mechanics, building on top of them and, branching out with some interesting ideas such as powerups, portals, interesting drops, jumps and teasing of the trophies and then filled that with lots of content. I really like where that all got you, the end product is really nice!

Visit Caco-chan by mononon 2020-10-05T08:22:19Z

Really solid and interesting game mechanic which fits the theme! I like the graphics, they look pleasing and are great to read. The 'sorry there is no exit button' text made me laugh :D

I had fun toying around with the level :) Caco-chan <3

LD49 — Unstable

And still the fire burns by Erkberg 2021-10-06T17:56:17Z

Nicely done with the obstacles getting harder! It also feels like you put lots of work into those deer animations. The background music fit the game (and lots of dying deer) very well.

Good job!

The Unstable Zone by Joror 2021-10-09T15:07:37Z

Very atmospheric! I really like the background fog, the vessel's light and the music! All combined, it makes you feel like you're this tiny ship on a hostile alien planet, I really liked that! I liked the mixture between more hectic shooting and the slower paced exploration part with lighting your way and sometimes getting into a flow taking you to places you're not really sure what to expect. I can imagine some kind of more horror-ish setting with this whole buildup.

Overall a great entry, good job!

Gummi Bridges by Joel Davis 2021-10-07T06:24:39Z

I failed at building too, both for the web and mac builds.. :/

The 3d models and the overall world looked really neat though (zooming was the only thing I was able to accomplish).

All I Want Is Cake by commanderstitch 2021-10-06T18:06:23Z

The sound effects made me laugh :D what is with that bear and the enemies. The art style fit the overall humor very well. This reminded me of 'Only One' the mobile game, which I played a lot back in the day!

I had fun playing with this, great job!

I also want to eat cake now.

Kasprzak Saves Us All! (Again) by Phobos001 2021-10-06T18:20:33Z

I love it! Fantastic intro with unique style and great music. Overall the music, sounds and moods with the different characters were great. Also interesting and weird characters - and the backgrounds had nice effects.

I really liked it, thanks for the experience :heart:

SlingPoint by uvwar 2021-10-21T17:02:31Z

Interesting concept and it looks very nice! I mostly failed and the cubes flung all over the place though :D weee

Unstables by mar3k 2021-10-04T20:47:53Z

Interesting mechanic with the two forms for each character and choices for buffs only affecting one version or a more timely conversion! I really like the art style and the sewer mood, altough some music or sound would have definitely helped. The 'move to the next room' interaction is a nice touch, even though it's literally just holding down a button it feels like I'm actually controlling the party.

I got carried by the Joker's AOE, unfortunately my run ended with an array index out of bounds exception shortly after level 30 :(

I love Wulf's walk cycle in human form :D

@kumber I had to download everything from the repo, as otherwise the resources (res) folder was not there and it couldn't load the needed data (such as that werewolf_anim.xml), as mentioned in the 'Running the game' section: "Just make sure that the res folder is at the same level as is the Unstables.jar file."

I hope you can get it to run (and anyone else who got maybe stuck with the same issue)!

Destabilize a Reactor by GeroX 2021-10-05T19:16:20Z

Figuring out the right strategy for completing tasks and dumping things into the reactor with which items was interesting. I really liked the game duration here - I played the game again without any regrets or hard feelings. You also put in lots of work and polish for the different chores and items - and the reactor room looked great with the glow!

Overall a good game, I had fun!

Jenry Javelina by PBG 2021-10-06T18:42:47Z

Cute character with overall great style and understandable, simple and fun gameplay! Felt great to be jumping around - sometimes it was a little difficult to estimate the distance from one pillar to the next so I fell down .. a lot :D

Great entry!

Bennet Froggy by Weirdybeardyman 2021-10-10T08:03:31Z

I'm a simple man, I see Bennet Froggy, I click. Great pun with the title :D

On a more serious note: this was executed fantastically: graphics, music, voice, physics, control, overall mood, the frog and additional touches like the frog croaking when messing up - really a great entry, well done! I had lots of fun here! And it's very difficult :P

Fantastic job!

Ice cube in a melting pot by Bentekiller 2021-10-06T18:36:45Z

Very enjoyable, I like the playful atmosphere you created with the fun, simple character, the music and the overall style! The Q mechanic was a little hard to control and understand when you could trigger it, but it still worked. Overall a fun entry which fits the theme!

I made it to the top yay :P

Orbitris by BOOtak 2021-10-05T18:48:07Z

A very interesting spin on Tetris! I really liked the trajectory mechanic and visuals - and the tips & tricks section definitely helped! It sometimes felt a little uncontrollable where the pieces slided after landing, but more often than not I didn't even know myself what I was aiming for exactly :P

I had fun playing, great job!

Unstable Robot Soccer by Ausstein 2021-10-07T06:50:00Z

Great 3d modelling, animation and explosion effect work, it looks really good! The idea and gameplay are very interesting! The 'self destruct' seems a bit OP without a timer on it, seems like I can defend anything :P Also with time the floor is littered with dead robot parts, which makes it really hard to find the ball :D

Overall very impressive work!

Home Renos Inc. by Pincushion 2021-10-07T06:41:07Z

Fantastic work! The many detailed 3d models, the music and especially the sound effects (I liked the nope/yeah feedback) and the game idea and execution are impressive. I also liked the fun touches like the "reviews" in the 'how to play' section.

Overall a great entry, I had fun!

Equilibrium by freeworld 2021-10-04T06:22:16Z

@chris-dirkis thanks a lot for the detailed feedback!

I have to agree with the controls: they feel very clunky and in general won't do what you want, which is not great. The rotation doesn't help with that. I'm guessing it would already be way better if the tilting controls would always work in the same way the camera faces the board, unaffected by the rotation.

About progression: I thought about introducing rectangles you shouldn't touch being introduced in addition to the goal rectangle getting smaller - I could potentially also make the board bigger with increasing levels, but that might not help with controlling the board/ball.

I'm glad you see some potential in the game :) I'm again not sure about controls on mobile with tilt versus rotate without it feeling constantly cumbersome :P I'll think about it some more.

Equilibrium by freeworld 2021-10-04T20:16:17Z

@appoxgames thanks a lot for the feedback! Yeah the goal rectangle spawning is not so great, sorry about that xD The levels actually do change: the goal rectangle gets smaller and the ground is re-generated, sometimes with slightly different dimensions - but I guess the changes are too subtle right now. Thanks for the kind words!

Equilibrium by freeworld 2021-10-04T20:18:53Z

@escapade Thanks a lot, I'm glad you had fun! I actually got this feedback from another source too, that might actually be worth a change (or make that a toggle in the settings). Right now the controls also invert when you rotate the board by 180°, which is suboptimal and even less intuitive :P yay

Equilibrium by freeworld 2021-10-05T14:13:29Z

@meredori thanks for the feedback! That would indeed be worth to look out for during the next game jam, thanks - it was definitely not my intention to make them autocomplete and then randomly spike in difficulty.

Thanks, I can see the notion of 'level' being misleading/wrong here.. I was hoping it would give some sense of progression, but 'difficulty' would have been the better term here.

Equilibrium by freeworld 2021-10-05T18:33:12Z

@bootak thanks a lot for the feedback! I'm glad to hear that you liked the music!

Correct, the levels are generated procedurally - which causes these 'immediately won' levels unfortunately.. I should have added some checks so this can't happen, but oh well I guess there's always next time to do that :P

Thanks for taking the time to listen, play and write feedback!

Equilibrium by freeworld 2021-10-05T21:00:38Z

@nick-rafalski Thanks a lot for the feedback, I'm glad you liked it! That's a good point with restarting from the same level, especially with the random difficulty spikes due to the procedurally generated levels.

Equilibrium by freeworld 2021-10-06T07:16:07Z

@skleembof thanks a lot for the feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed at least parts of it.

That sounds like a very good idea! I also think the board shapes look a bit too similar to each other right now (I only used two layers of perlin noise) - definitely something I could toy around with more to get more interesting level variation and difficulty. Thanks!

Equilibrium by freeworld 2021-10-07T06:13:46Z

@nardandas Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I can see how that's frustrating. And I absolutely agree with your suggestion for the controls always being from the player's perspective, that would make it a lot more intuitive.

Thanks for playing :)

Equilibrium by freeworld 2021-10-07T06:15:18Z

@pincushion Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you liked most of it! I have the same issue with remembering which key does what - it's definitely not a polished aspect of the game :P

Thanks for playing!

Equilibrium by freeworld 2021-10-07T19:46:52Z

@bruno-molteni Thanks a lot for the feedback, I'm glad you liked it!

Yes I agree, definitely something that needs to be improved!

Equilibrium by freeworld 2021-10-07T19:49:03Z

@kukurammus Thanks a lot for the feedback - I also think that making smaller, more narrow or oddly shaped boards would be interesting, so definitely something that can be improved here. I'm glad you liked at least a few parts of the game :)

Equilibrium by freeworld 2021-10-09T14:42:23Z

@purrseus Thanks a lot for playing and the feedback!

Thanks, it's great to hear that same feedback from several people! Makes it easier to see without a doubt that these points would be the most important ones to improve :)

I'm glad that the 'reach level 10 quest' was encouraging for you to actually get there! It makes me happy that you mostly enjoyed the way to reach that goal too! :) Again thanks for taking the time to write feedback!

Equilibrium by freeworld 2021-10-10T07:03:22Z

@crefossus Thanks a lot for the encouraging feedback! I'm glad you liked some aspects of the game and that those were enough to keep you going for a while!

That is a great point with the bigger / varying playspaces! I could probably get away with zooming out if the playspace gets bigger - or also have some camera logic potentially. I can definitely see the fun in trying to figure out the physics / movements of the ball by toying around with it, which is not really possible right now.

You're absolutely right: the levels are very similar right now with only a few parameters changing each time (goal rectangle getting slightly smaller & slight board variations) - there's definitely lots of room for improvement here :D

Thanks a lot again for taking the time to write such detailed feedback!

Equilibrium by freeworld 2021-10-11T06:58:20Z

@eva-knight I'm glad you got to level 10, noice indeed :P I'd definitely need to look into more variation for levels and preventing the goal from spawning right underneath the ball if I continue work on this game, thanks for the feedback!

@denatus Thanks for the feedback! Interactions using the mouse sounds like a very good idea to me!

@python-b5 Thanks :) I hope it wasn't too annoying!

@ribout-horace Thanks for the feedback! Yeahhh the random nature is not so great right now - both the ball directly touching the goal or just hitting a weird slope immediately and bouncing off.. I'm glad you still liked some parts despite the flaws!

Equilibrium by freeworld 2021-10-14T05:45:01Z

@pbg Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you mostly liked the game! I can definitely see how the controls and restarting from the first level can lead to frustration.. Yeah maybe it would need some additional adjustment or more difficult terrain if you could use the mouse, that's a good point. Thanks again for taking the time to write feedback!

@erikkire :D haha, nice!

Equilibrium by freeworld 2021-10-19T06:59:18Z

@dilem Thanks for the feedback! Unfortunately it is more confusing than it needs to be right now :D oh well

Unstable Employee Rabbit by JoshuaRabbit 2021-10-05T19:03:04Z

An interesting take on breakout, I like the art! Unfortunately most of the time it was a little chaotic for me and I didn't really know what I was doing - in the end I even won somehow though :P

I love the japanese voices and the anime style special moves :D perfection - Min'na ganbatte!

Grim Tripper by Skleembof 2021-10-05T21:14:22Z

Fantastic job with the models and animations, it looks great!

I also really like getting dragged around by the flailing humans :D it's fun. I diligently went through the gates until I remembered that I didn't actually have to.

I didn't have problems with the controls for the webgl build, it worked well on my machine.

I would have loved some kind of dash, the grim reaper feels so slow at times :P

Overall great job, I can really feel the effort you put into the game!

Don't drop it! by Srynetix 2021-10-06T17:43:58Z

Wow you managed to put in so many mechanics and levels, I'm impressed! Really great base mechanics and interesting uses of the different zone types for the levels! Also good visuals which are easily recognizable, the introduction text does it's job well and great music and sound!

It really is quite challenging, great entry!

U-49 Meltdown by Blue Pin Studio 2021-10-05T06:35:12Z

Yay I did it! Loved the extra effort you put in with the voice, the audio logs, the falling blocks and the overall look! The platforming felt a bit "just jump all the time, maybe you can reach the pool and get back" unfortunately. Overall a good, polished experience, nice!

Me And My Unicycle by Nikl 2021-10-12T16:54:38Z

Nice sound effects and music :D Gives the whole thing a very humorous touch, I really like that!

The controls can get a bit frustrating when it sometimes just stops jumping high enough to get up some of the platforms. Other than that a nice physics game and you even managed to get in levels! I liked that only hitting your head causes a game over, makes it fun to sometimes be 'saved' by hitting a platform with your body first - and also more forgiving.

Overall good entry which fits the theme well!

Number Fission by Escapade 2021-10-04T06:17:44Z

Nice game to play around with, I definitely agree with this being a great idea for mobile with the non-hectic gameplay and the 'just one more try' feeling. I really like how you integrated the explanation text in a non-intrusive but helpful way. I had fun!

~☆~ Nekolibrium ~☆~ by Chris Dirkis 2021-10-04T06:47:16Z

Great color palette and sprite art! The game fits the theme well and is very unique. It was often hard for me to figure out which stats result in which consequences unfortunately, even after reading the text it felt like I was guessing and hoping for the best more often than not. I want to know what an armored cat looks like :D

Reactor Operator by Python_B 2021-10-05T19:59:33Z

ugh I'm so sorry, I just can't get it to build (MacOS), for some reason it just can't find the SDL framework headers :/

A good start by javve 2021-10-07T19:54:28Z

Awwww that was a very sweet experience :heart: I really liked the cat art and animation!

Unstabled 2: Horses Vs Pugs by mrnotcrazy 2021-10-14T06:13:47Z

Very interesting concept and it feels like lots of effort went into those 3d models and the board and interaction overall! I'm impressed that you managed to make so many models in the short amount of time. I love the overall 'horses on a grassy platform in space' theme :D

Unfortunately it was difficult to actually get to a state I wanted. The 'move 1' felt especially bad since it felt like I didn't do anything with those :P I actually managed to kill off one pug though (I think :P)

Unpredictable Processes by Denatus 2021-10-09T15:19:10Z

Great materials, effects and emissive lights! Did you use Unity's shadergraph (just out of curiosity since I wanted to dabble into that myself and seeing you potentially use it made me curious again :P)? I also liked the background effect and the overall atmosphere! The controls were unfortunately a little frustrating for later levels for me (as others already mentioned too).

Overall good job - I can definitely see the effort you put into this one!

Charon by EthanKessler 2021-10-06T18:31:11Z

Great style, models, music and mood! I also like the idea for the gameplay, unfortunately I was struggling to get enough barrels for fuel and steering most of the time - and the rocks are big and hard to dodge :P

I liked being able to run around on the boat and look around, definitely interesting to have this in first person view.

Good job!

House is not always a home by SeaSlugStudios 2021-10-05T06:56:39Z

Very heavy stuff..

Fits the theme well and is very unique. The atmosphere together with the mostly black and white art style and the music all go very well with the brooding, helpless overall mood. I'm also quite impressed with how much story, backgrounds and characters you were able to put together in this short amount of time.

Great job!

The totally-safe-and-explosion-free Heist by Fonkin 2021-10-10T07:37:04Z

You put together quite a few levels - some of them surprisingly elaborate! Being very vulnerable when trying to run back was interesting - sometimes I felt like it was better to just run through and other times kill off the enemies on the way, depending on if I got a good enough cover. As others already mentioned: I wasn't sure if the 'bullets move with your character' is a feature or not, but I tried using it to my advantage.

Overall a solid entry that fits the theme!

Carrying A Microwave Down 3rd Ave by Yoss III 2021-10-14T05:57:45Z

:D whattt did I just witness

Great sound effects, it really enriches the experience. It goes on for way too long - and I love how I got rewarded by actually looking at the microwave being used in the end :heart:

Also thanks for the extra effort for the mac build: the new version actually works :)

Drops of Neon by Blind Archer 2021-10-04T06:34:58Z

I really like the gameplay, the physics are lots of fun to toy around with - I think you got a great shape of the player "paddle" with the sides so you can wiggle around to match the balls by juggling them around in the container. Controls were super simple and it only sometimes felt harsh with balls dropping on opposite sides right after each other :P I also liked the art style and the overall design and mood. And you even somehow found the time to add difficulty levels!

I got a score of 113 on default difficulty, beat me :P

Clowning Around by Casteled 2021-10-04T06:54:41Z

Nice! Great overall presentation with graphics, circus mood, music, sound and a great fit for the theme! I also liked the difficulty. Nice touches with the spotlight and the crowd in the background including sound effects! Getting too close to the sides with the knives flying in is a bad idea :P

Unstable pathing by arachnid56 2021-10-04T07:15:15Z

That felt like a good mixture of puzzle and just trying to figure it out as you go. Also you managed to add in a good amount of levels! It felt forgiving enough that when I accidentally went down a wrong path I could still hop back while a box was falling, which I liked. A great fit for the theme! The possibility to zoom into the scene and rotate the whole room using the mouse was unexpected :D

Gravigator by grimmpaperman 2021-10-10T07:50:34Z

Interesting idea with balancing inside the bar and I liked the simple and clear controls. The graphics on top looked nice, I like the ship and the jump to hyperspace effect! Unfortunately I felt like I couldn't look at it because I had to focus on the indicator on the bottom to not die.

A good fit for the theme!

Astrolabing the Arctic by sebbernery 2023-10-06T22:56:34Z

I enjoyed transporting science stuff and will now proceed to destroy capitalism.

I quite liked the experience, it was very relaxing, it was great to have an end goal and the tetris-fitting the items on the ship & upgrading was fun! Good job!

Prisoner 32 by commanderstitch 2023-10-09T06:55:43Z

what? :D this felt very much like some art installation, I like it :P

Space Promenade by Jesús González 2023-10-02T21:16:19Z

Nice effects, great music and sound, looks and feels very much like an arcade game! I liked the very simple gameplay with auto shooting and collecting the fleet, overall great entry!

The second level's name is great :D

Orbital Operations by bmacintosh 2023-10-05T21:23:54Z

Super interesting idea, very good execution! It became super difficult quickly with more ships around. The music fit the atmosphere of the game and the theme definitely came across. Great job!

Little Cart of Junk by auxC 2023-10-11T22:20:43Z

This was fun and only a little bit of a ragefest :D The music you chose fit great with the physics freakout :P Overall great entry and in line with the theme!

Protector of the light by mango-malarkey 2023-10-02T20:55:35Z

Really nice tower defense experience with good difficulty & ramp-up in difficulty for the 3 levels you managed to put in! Pleasent to look at and fits the theme well, great job!

Gone Fishin' by cdunham 2023-10-12T05:48:35Z

Really cute and relaxing fishing game!

Limited Space Travel by TasakaSama 2023-10-04T00:54:37Z

Lots of diversity with quite a few different encounters/story and resources to manage, I can see why time was short for art :P Good job!

Super cute <3 and a great fit for the theme!

Spaceport by freeworld 2023-10-02T21:17:59Z

@donitz Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed what I managed to put together :P

I agree, more levels or some zooming out to more complex obstacles are a great idea!

Spaceport by freeworld 2023-10-04T00:32:51Z

@cheesepencil I'm glad you liked it and that you had some fun letting the ships circle around :P

Thanks for playing and the comment!

Spaceport by freeworld 2023-10-04T00:35:39Z

@martin-bousquet I'm glad it posed some challenge despite only having the one "level"!

Nice! 19 is very fair, I only saw a screenshot of one mad person getting to 40 somehow, but I'm not sure myself how that was even possible :D

Thanks for playing and the kind words!

Spaceport by freeworld 2023-10-06T22:25:35Z

@kuggenhoffen I'm glad you had some fun despite it getting boring after a few rounds! Yeahh that's a bug :D Unfortunately I noticed it way too late :P

@linus-lindberg Thank you very much for playing and the kind words! I'm glad you could also see it as a simple game for mobile :)

Spaceport by freeworld 2023-10-13T19:23:17Z

@najjaman Thanks a lot for playing and the kind words!

The routes still being shown after a ship has already traversed them sounds like a bug :D sorry about that :P

Spaceport by freeworld 2023-10-14T19:48:48Z

@cdunham thanks a lot for playing and the feedback! I'm glad the concept was good enough to warrant more levels :P

I did enjoy that cat doodle :P

Trapped Goblin by chusmimax 2023-10-04T01:20:27Z

A very solid bullet hell! The animations were a nice touch! Great fit for the theme too, it got crowded very quickly :P

CosmoTrasher by Prologi 2023-10-02T20:41:34Z

I really liked the music and your great art style, especially the asteroids look fantastic! Also with lots of fancy cherries on top like the coin particles and the circle fillup when collecting/upgrading. Great job! Best time I managed: 2:35, which is .. not great :P cosmotrasher.png

This was very wholesome, I had a good time reading and the totally different interpretation of the theme with the letters is interesting!

Voynich Lecture by Sleepy Caveman 2023-10-05T20:46:56Z

Oh my goodness, a great simulation of how short/long 2 minutes can feel when trying to cram in some gibberish with no chance of remotely understanding what's going on :D I love what you put together here, very different from what I'd expect from a jam game :D

Ruins Runner by Ackbad 2023-10-02T21:04:55Z

I liked the extra control with the midair jumping, although I found it very difficult to dodge the projectiles and I kept outrunning the screen :P

Great fit for the theme!

to anyone struggling to play, it worked for me with:

``` java -jar -XstartOnFirstThread ruinsRunner.jar ```
I hope it does for you too :P
Wow this was very impressive, I really like the approach to a small RTS. The AI and enemies all behave very reasonable, finding out what does what was interesting, I really liked playing, fantastic job!
Keep Inside by Wallbreaker5th 2023-10-04T01:11:10Z
That got quite frantic :D Unique gameplay and great difficulty ramping, it gets surprisingly difficult to drag around multiple points at the same time. The faces were a fun touch, I feel like I made the same ones while playing :P
Last walk in the forest by LooksLikeSomething 2025-10-12T20:29:43Z
It feels like a lot of work and care went into all the art, animations, and antler stages! Unfortunately I constantly felt like I was doing something wrong when the slow pace went to crawls and I couldn't dodge attacks or collecting glowy orbs didn't seem to do anything.
Stampede Philarun by Local Minimum 2025-10-12T19:47:57Z
Fantastic entry! Very calming with the background, your choice of music, and your enthusiastic voice for every stamp collected - it definitely helped with some of the more difficult sections :D Also a great set of levels with even some bonus on top. You also managed to add a lot of polish with effects, the stamps sticking to the ball, the intro, and extra cheering when reaching the goal. I love what you put together here!
Keeper of Artifacts by ping78 2025-10-12T21:29:59Z
Great entry! Would have loved to see more cards and maybe a way to get rid of all the plagues and 'the one ring' that cluttered my hand :D As already mentioned: having the cards also being the menu/game over was a very nice touch!
Ghouls & Grimoires by Liam 2025-10-13T21:57:20Z
LudicrousOafishMagpie by hijomo 2025-10-12T20:59:47Z
Actually a great idea to have this help with learning morse! This feels like one of the 'learn to type' games from back in the day. I would have loved to get an intro first to new letters, as it was really one life lost for new introductions. Great idea to test some edutainment waters during a jam, I like what you did here!
Loot Lagoon by ChuChuGeralt 2025-10-12T20:49:56Z
This is great! A very polished experience with a lot of features, unlocks, physics, fancy graphics and assets - I'm impressed with what you were able to put together! I needed that retirement after getting ambushed by evil kraken stealing everything I collected multiple times.
The Legend of the Mondrokko by ditam 2025-10-07T19:21:10Z
That felt like a great foundation for an incremental-esque game! The mushroom collecting is a great choice for the theme!
Harvester by freeworld 2025-10-08T22:36:09Z
@ditam The two fish really is all the content there is :D turns out spending a lot of time on fish rarity and probability features when there's not time to actually add more fish and fishing spots is really not a great idea. Thank you very much for trying so many times and the kind words!
@ciphereo Thank you for playing and the warm words! YES to the fish guide, that was part of my original plans :)
UNEARTHING by YellowKamel 2025-10-22T21:35:13Z
Very nice! That was tense towards the end, I was sure that something would jump out of some locker at some point! This tickled some flash game nostalgia for me, great stuff with quite a bit of content and story plus atmosphere and very fitting music!
The Cult-lector by Vhalenn 2025-10-08T23:19:22Z
You put together a super nice looking game with great atmosphere and even animations! Finding the correct spots was a lot easier after a few not-quite-stellar attempts :P
ASTRODEFENSE by zimny11 2025-10-12T20:09:49Z
That was very interesting! I like the idea with moving around the resources, mining and recharging batteries - this is a great foundation to start exploring ideas from, like more resources, buildings to build, some base defence etc! Sorry to hear that it was a struggle to get it to run as intended, but it works great now!
Archives of the Collector by MatthewDrake 2025-10-07T18:35:52Z
Super nice! That reminded me a lot of some flash games of eras past! You managed to add quite a bit of content with an actual story with start and end with quite a few rooms and items. Great job!
Kudos for submitting what you were able to get done! There's a lot to be learned from all steps involved in a jam, including the final ones like upload and submission. Great effort, good luck for your next jam!
