This game was EPIC! I really liked the graphics, sound and gameplay! One of the better games I've played so far!

Once I got used to the controls I didn't do too bad. I'm glad that the _edge_ of the first allows a little or else I would've died _way_ more often.

I really liked the music and wildfire ambience sound! I appreciated how it got progressively harder and more challenging, with more complicated fire obstacles to navigate. Great level design!

Nice job, I had fun getting to the end. I climbed the tree and survived the fire. I don't know how my other fellow llamas faired though. Good job on the different platforming sections, you did a good job having them scale in difficulty and keeping them fresh without repeating many of the same tricks.

Fun little infinite runner

alex-chertilin 2021-10-06 17:49

A had a little bit problem with sounds. But I got fun for playing the game

Nice game! The fire visual effect is really nice. I found W = jump/Space = run a bit unintuitive but other than that I have no real complaints. Also I appreciate having the ending rather than just a 'you win' message.

Nicely done with the obstacles getting harder! It also feels like you put lots of work into those deer animations. The background music fit the game (and lots of dying deer) very well.

Good job!

Hi @erkberg! Thanks again for your nice video and feedback about my game! I am here to return the favour ^_^

I really loved what you made. The gameplay itself was not too special or new, but implemented and polished really well. Subtle things like variable jump height and a jump buffer help a lot to make the character feel very responsive. The hitboxes on the flames were sometimes a bit unclear, but I actually dont think this mattered much in this game. It might have even helped the narrative, making it feel like you sometimes jumped through a bit of flame to get out

The story behind the game is what I thought was really cool! There were very few explicit words on the screen, but immediately from the beginning it is clear exactly what is happening. I think the beautiful music helped a lot with setting the tone as well, making it fit really well with the bittersweet ending. The minimalistic style also works really well for this kind of story (although I see that you plan to work on the visuals, and I would agree on that. Those trees need some love XD)

All-in-all a really nice short experience! I enjoyed it a lot! Amazing job :D

Oh, and one thing I forgot is that it was really confusing that 'space' was not jump, but instead it was sprint. This messed me up a few times XD

Quite a painful experience, i should say! Mostly beacouse of creatures! Controls were not very convinient for me, but ok. When i was figuring out jump alternatives, i was killed by fire, I was not expecting fire to pursue me :) Fire damage range wasn't very obvious Animations are pretty satisfying Good job on platform design, should use all keys to reach the tree to survive... and continue to live in a this sad cursed world

neowhoru 2021-10-06 21:00

Really moody game and an interesting take on the theme. Was sad that hey need to die and i couldnt help them even if they are digital. Really great work mate.

erkberg 2021-10-07 06:42

Thank you all so much for your comments and feedback! <3 Yes, I agree, the controls are rather tricky, especially when playing with two characters, but it is doable and you can also control them one after the other, it's possible to get to the end like this (but very hard and on the giant tree in the end you have to control them simultaneously). And yeah, I wish I had gone with space for jump, as it just is THE button for jumping and I can imagine the confusion well :) In general, I'd recommend using a gamepad, as it feels much better than with a keyboard.

PS: You can also get another player in front of the screen and play in coop, either on the keyboard or (trickier) with the gamepad, it's quite a bit of fun!

I nice game, I enjoyed the audio the most.

itzemii 2021-10-07 15:23

Playing it makes me sad. I tried to somehow rescue the other animals (besides the two) ... Very nicely told story with the camera movement!!! Emotionally this game touched me. The fire getting closer and tighter up front. And reliefed I made it to the big tree (only one, but at last). And very good music!

pixelydian 2021-10-07 16:44

Very haunting music and I felt so bad for the deer but overall a meaningful experience. I'm not a huge fan of "press up to jump" mechanics with space being the dash in general, because I end up pressing space to jump out of habit and running into the fire. The controller is a LOT better and I was able to beat the game. The ending was also touching! This is a nice platformer with a good feel and the difficulty progression was done well. Great job!

ryjcio 2021-10-07 21:59

OMG, this music is so fantastic! It makes such an nostalgic atmosphere! I love it!

essarrgee 2021-10-11 23:37

The music really sets the mood for the game, I like it! I also appreciate how the hitboxes for the fire is slightly smaller than it looks. My only peeve is that if I'm playing alone, the other player character gets in the way and I have to move them into the fire first before continuing. A way to disable the other player might be helpful. Otherwise, great work on the game!

kumber 2021-10-12 12:04

Awesome graphics and setting. It was also fun pushing player two into the fire to have better range of movements :D Keep up the good work!

flogames 2021-10-12 20:33

Phew, that was quite a harrowing experience! It's challenging getting both deer to safety, took me a couple of tries but I finally made it. It's definitely more difficult controlling both at once, but at least you feel better saving both of them. I almost expected a situation where you had to sacrifice one for the other in the end, luckily that never happened. Very atmospheric music, overall - as usual - a game with an intense, melancholic mood! BTW The run buttons I didn't really need (except at the beginning). I really appreciate the checkpoints, one suggestion though: it's a bit disorienting how the camera quickly moves to the left (almost to the beginning?) and then rushes to the right again to the checkpoint. I'd like it better if the cam just moved to the left and stopped at the checkpoint. This way you get a better sense of how much of a setback you have when dying. Also sometimes the space around the checkpoints is a bit tight, with a bit more room it's easier to jump back into the game. The animals were a bit hard to see against the wooden background since they had such a dark color. Apart from these minor complaints, good job!

Nice little game with beautiful gameplay. Controls work fine as expected. I like the minimalist aesthetic, especially the particles FX for the fire - really well done. The mood is incredibly sad - this is not a complaint - it fits with the story. I saved my deer. You made a solid entry. Well done. You deserve more ratings ++

PS : thank you for your kind words about my game Take Your Meds Darling. I had fun seeing you playing my weird project. I really appreciate your advice. Thank you for the good ratings. You made my day. The A-Maze festival in Berlin with my game? Why not? Maybe. I wish you the best ++
