Love the Halloween theme! I've always been a fan of top-down shooters, so this hit pretty close for me. I also really like how the camera pans across based on your mouse. The movement felt a little awkward though. I tried to cut a corner of a building and my character would keep going forward instead. Have you tried using GetAxisRaw instead of GetAxis? It works a lot better with keyboard controls. I also felt that there could be more feedback when the enemies get hit by projectiles. The first time I was shooting at one, I thought I wasn't actually doing anything to them. Overall though, still a very fun game! Hope you keep at updating it in the future!
I love the art and the story's very wholesome. My only complaint is that the grammar's all over the place, but it's still readable.
Amazing game! The graphics and audio are near perfect! I would only complain that the combat might need adjusting, but it might only be me. It seemed like the melee weapon did the same amount of damage as the projectile, but came out a lot slower. Melee felt more like a last resort to use rather than something like a "high risk high reward" sorta deal. I think some people also mentioned that having a side-strafing feature would be nice, and I agree. I found myself moving diagonally against the wall to dodge attacks, but it only works so well until I hit a corner.
Overall though, I still loved it! Great job on the game!
The game seems fun if you know what to do, but unfortunately I don't. I think most of the people above summarized it well. It might be a little difficult for most unknowing players to get into it. In terms of UX, I feel like a menu button would be nice to pause and/or back out of the current game to the main menu would be nice, in case the user might want to select a different mode. Currently, you have to wait until the timer runs out to get back. Very creative interpretation of the theme though! The game might be more fun, and a little addicting too, if there were some more adjustments to accessibility.
Very fun game! I liked the inclusion of a minimap so I could tell where I was going. Enemies were pretty well balanced, like with a glow showing up a good amount of time before the spider enemies spawn. The only minor nitpick I have is that moving diagonally is faster than moving horizontally or vertically.
Pretty creative game! The art is simple but nice to look at. I also like how different materials acted as different instruments, though I wish there were more of certain types. I did get a little annoying having to walk all the way around the map to place an item on the track, but it was still enjoyable. Great job on the jam!
Very simple yet addicting gameplay! Nice touch with the lightbulbs representing the remaining lives. My only complaint is that the incoming orders could be moved to the top right of the screen, or somewhere close to the other information (lives, score). It's just easier to have all the important information relatively close to each other so the player doesn't have to frantically all the way at both the left and right sides of the screen.
Regardless, great job on the jam! The game feels pretty much complete and very well done!
I was among the crowd that didn't read the description before diving in, haha. It was fun figuring out what to do at first, and satisfying once I got it down. I also loved the death animation; it was cool to watch, though at the expense of Lyza. An issue I ran into, while not often, was getting stuck if I was running against a wall. It is mostly just a minor collision issue, but it did get in the way when I was trying to run away from the monster.
Regardless, this game was really fun to play! With some more work this could totally become a full game. Awesome job, and keep it up!
I love the concept! Using respawning as the "loop" is a really cool idea! Though, would that mean when the boss died he would also respawn back as a knight in the past? Anyway, the gameplay is pretty fun when you figure everything out, but not very forgiving. It was a little weird that I couldn't destroy the wall until after the fire attack. It made me think I needed a bomb item or something that came later. Also, the crystals could probably give a little feedback, like a sound effect, if a player just attacks it with a normal attack, just to show that they can't break it normally.
Amazing work though! The sprites were really good, especially the portraits of the characters! I enjoyed the music as well. Good job with the game!
Definitely spooky at first. Thought the reapers would chase me or something. The game was a lot of fun to play around! It was pretty satisfying to just throw around random stuff to trigger explosions. I also liked that holding onto things would slow you down so you couldn't just use them as shields the whole time. Wasn't sure if there was anything after the truck segment though. Good job on the game!
That was pretty fun to play! The controls felt nice, and it was especially satisfying to kick the ball while dashing, at least for me. The frantic enemy "goalies" kept things interesting for a while, but it did get repetitive after a while. Also, I wasn't sure what the positions resetting after every round meant. It was cool to look at, but didn't feel like it added anything to the game.
Still, you did a good job for this jam! And although we aren't judging your post-jam game, I liked the little touches you added to it!
Very cool mechanic. I love how it's part-metroidvania with the environment locking you out of certain areas for the beginning. One complaint I have though is that respawning is so fast that before I could even react, I would still be holding down the direction and fall down the same pit immediately again. It might just be me, but a little pause after dying could help.
I played the latest version, but the game is really cool! I absolutely adore the art-style and how intentionally weird it is. The minigames were all pretty fun too! My favorite is definitely the last one, though I'll admit it did feel a bit slow. It certainly gave me a sense of horror though, which I enjoyed. The cutscenes were fun to watch too, but it did feel slow until it got to the first minigame. Overall, great job on the game!
Very creative gameplay loop(literally)! The sense of strategy the game gives you in choosing what to fight works pretty well, especially when more enemies are forced in over time. The graphics were super clean and gave this game such a nice polish. I also liked the music, it was pretty catchy after a while.
I feel like there could be more feedback in terms of gameplay though. Besides the skeletons, it was hard to tell when an enemy was going to attack me, making it really hard to approach them. I also wasn't too sure if I was doing damage to them at times. The sound effect, while satisfying to hear, only helps so much. Maybe a little flash of red or a damage animation could convey that better.
Overall though, great job on the game! It's actually pretty addicting to unlock more upgrades as the game progresses. With a little more work, I could see this being a pretty fun, full game.
Love the art and the isometric view! Speeding up text with left-click is also a very nice feature.
The game itself was a little buggy though. Besides the ones you've listed, you could also clip under the floor if you stand underneath the trash can at the beginning (Edit: you did list this one) and you wouldn't stop walking if you interacted with something while walking, which made the character walk into a fire when I was still trying to enter a code.
Still, overall, really amazing job! My favorite bit of the game has to be when you die, you can respawn with a new character sprite. The duck sprite made me laugh!
This game has a lot of cool ideas! I didn't pay attention to the room I was on before I got reset to Level 1, but it was right after the level with a portal and a door. I can agree with the others when they say that shooting stopping your horizontal movement is a little annoying. Still, great game overall! I enjoyed it!
Very neat game! I liked how simple the gameplay was while still needing some thinking. The music fit really well too. Some of the text was cut off at some point but that might be because my screen size is small.
Love the game so far, really makes me hungry for some sushi. Although a complaint I have is that I have to blindly make a bunch of sushi and hope a catstomer takes it. I feel that hints should show up a bit more often. Maybe even consider speeding up the pace of the game a little bit? It does feel a bit slow for the food to get to catstomers.
Very nice job though! I was getting into the game after a while, and the tune is pretty catchy.
Really challenging, but an absolute spectacle to look at! Love the polish you put in this game, good job!
Nicely designed puzzles. It's cool how you had very basic levels in the beginning to show how the different colored pieces worked. It would be nice if the deselect function was assigned to right-click as well though, just to make it easier for the player to reach.
Very interesting game, although I'm not sure how to clear the puzzle portions. Clicking the "Ok" button seems to do nothing. Very nice sounds though! It's satisfying to hear for a platformer. Good job!
@leofiremage I think I had "DAS". Tried typing in "SAD" and "ADS" but neither worked.
Neat game! Not sure how the score works but I got 90% even though I filled the Happiness all the way up. Good job on the game!
Love the physics-based character! The platforming isn't too difficult, with just the right amount of challenge. I also adore the cutscenes; the art style is pretty neat! My one complaint is that the controls don't work well with the physics though, at least when going down slopes. Holding forward when going down a slope actually slows you down when I feel it should do the opposite. Not a huge hinderance to the game though. You did a good job with this game!
Cool game! I like the back shield idea, but enemy bullets move a bit too fast for me to respond to them all, especially when there's a lot of enemies at once. It would be cool if there was a way to speed up movement for a brief time or something though. It felt a little slow after a while. Still, good job on the jam!
Pretty fun gameplay. I like that the enemies that shoot projectiles don't do as much damage so I can prioritize hitting the larger enemies first. The controls were a little disorienting at first, but it works when you get used to it after a while. The difficulty ramps up pretty fast. If you ever plan on updating this after the jam, it'd be nice to have difficulty options. Overall, the game is fun to play! I also like the aesthetics a lot.
I had a lot of fun with this game! It's very well polished. Like others have pointed out, the controller moving down when the car is underneath is a really nice touch. The take on the theme is absolutely creative too! Good job on the game!
Pretty simple game, but really great polish! Title screen was a little hard to make out at first, but it does look really good. Good job!
Very nice atmosphere, it really made the game creepy. I really liked the art style too. I did find the jump to be pretty useless though. I feel like the game didn't really need a jump function.
I like the simple style! The ending was almost sad if the end screen wasn't so blunt, not that that's a problem. Like the other comment said, the minigames could give more feedback, like a sound on success. The first minigame confused me since it kept giving me the same block and seemed like I wasn't actually doing anything. Overall, pretty cool game.
The music really sets the mood for the game, I like it! I also appreciate how the hitboxes for the fire is slightly smaller than it looks. My only peeve is that if I'm playing alone, the other player character gets in the way and I have to move them into the fire first before continuing. A way to disable the other player might be helpful. Otherwise, great work on the game!
Cool idea for a game! Wasn't sure if there was a goal, but I had fun playing around with the different reactions! Good work!
Very cool idea to have different minigames for each year. The one with the ABC123 options was a little hard to figure out though, and my runs always ended on that one. Regardless, I had a lot of fun scrambling to each section trying to complete each task. Great game!
Pretty difficult but fun! Game feels well polished and I love the car's bouncy suspension. Good job!
Pretty awesome artwork! I dig the writing too! I didn't run into any ants in my playthrough, but maybe that's because I wasn't spamming space everywhere. Good work!
Very fun! I appreciate the checkpoints and the decelerate feature too! Really helps for people like me who aren't very good at faster games like this haha. Good job!
Very unique idea! Pretty fun scrambling back and forth to stop the bugs. I did get accidentally block myself by shooting too much in one place though. An additional mechanic to remove your own wax might be nice. Overall though, very nice game! Good job!
The surreal style is really nice! I love the art too! My only complaint is the blind jumps in the platformer section. It was often pretty hard to tell where I could land. Aside from that, I like the game! Good job!
Extremely surreal, I love it! It looks a bit long so I haven't completed it yet, but I absolutely enjoy what's going on in the game. Good job!
I like how there is a puzzle element to the rewind mechanic, since you have to use it quickly or get stuck. Good job on the game!
Very cool game idea! The game is pretty difficult to get used to and I wasn't able to make it far, but I still enjoyed it! The art and the sounds were really nice too!
Neat idea for a puzzle game! Only downside is that there's just 3 levels :(
Really like the blend of sprites and 3d environments. The death animation is really clean too! That said, the character's gravity was a little too high to where I was being instantly punished for making a blind jump incorrectly. I also wasn't really sure if there was a goal point or if I just had to wait out the timer. Still a really nice game though. I had fun playing it!
The graphical style is pretty nice and I like the sounds effects too! My only problem was that the barricades were kinda hard to see at first. Overall good work on the game!
Very short but cute game. I like the use of physics for applying the theme. Character is a bit floaty though, making the game a little easy. Still, good job!
Awesome idea for a game! I also like how you can queue up the different colors to time when to flip. If I were to suggest something though, a feature to speed up the meter would be nice, since it feels a bit slow to wait for sometimes. Good job on the game!
Everyone above has said this already but there is too much information to process before I could even start playing. At the same time, I can appreciate how much depth you've put into the game! It's just a little overwhelming from a beginner's point of view. Regardless, good job on the game!
Love the voxel art style, although the colors made it hard to distinguish the enemies and the walls sometimes. It would also be nice to be able to move the camera, but that's not a big deal. Overall, very charming game! Good job!
Crazy and fun game! I loved going around to sell just when I think the price is right, only for it shoot even farther up right after. Only thing I didn't understand was the camera moving around a lot, but it didn't take much away from the experience. Great job on the game!
Neat game! My only complaint is that the lava starts a bit too close to the player right after starting the game. It would be nice to give the player some room when they start. Otherwise, good job on the game!
Pretty cool game! Reminds me of the Powerdrill Massacre minigame Puppet Combo made a while back haha. Good job on the game!
Love the style and how over-the-top the humor is
Absolutely hectic, I love it. I also like the darkness towards to the end, that was a really fun gameplay twist. Great job!
Pretty fun typing game! My only gripe that people above me probably already mentioned is that the game won't let me type faster. Otherwise, good job!
