Cool concept, I do wish you focused more on the resticking part.

Nice little game! I was fumbling around a little bit at the beginning until I realized that I could squish them (even though I read the instructions!) I got into a good little groove and managed to save the hive by a couple of combs. The physics is pretty solid in this, so well done there.
And hello from a fellow LÖVE-r!
Wow, what a creative game! It's an excellent interpretation of the theme. I had fun playing. I like the graphics and the sound is nice too. The main part is the gameplay, which is quite balanced between building your food and eating insects.
Finally, I would like to say that I possibly witnessed bugs, since insects stopped being born.
Congratulations on developing this game!
Get these ants away from my honey man, was fun to fly around and the ant timing was solid. Couldnt reach the ants if they tunneled into the side a bit.
Really cute game! The sounds and art are really nice and I love the honey comb mechanics :)
Really cool ! Would like to see a complete game with these kind of mechanics !
Wow! What an interesting concept. Keep up the good work!
I find conceptual idea wise, this was definitely a unique experience. I like how you interpret the theme very differently! Keep up the good work
@sploky Thanks, do you mean more hive repairing mechanics, or doing something with falling wax, or...?
@cromo LÖVE forever! It's more work upfront than a full game engine but just clicks with me still.
@vphyre There would be a win screen after the ants stop but I have a bad habit of not thinking of a game objective until the last minute, literally 😴
@osh-studio Yes, in a full game I would have the ants crawl over and eat the outermost layer, and not tunnel in until later.
@monkybusines I did the bee, ants and tree, and modified some hex tiles I found on opengameart.org
Nice concept, but no fun content in this entry. Pretty atmospheric, high quality sounds, interesting way to play, but again there is no game objective. In Windows build X key is not working as pretended to and ants will not spawn anymore after some time.
@exiphase It says Z to fire. Which input device do you use? Sorry, I only have QWERTY keyboard and Xbox controller for testing.
I like the concept!
This is a super cute idea. The concept reminds me of an old TI-99 game I had as a kid that involved bees. Hadn't thought of that game in forever. I hope you develop this idea further, Jenny could go on more adventures.
This is a cool little entry! I really like the mechanic of intentionally letting the ants get to the honey tiles so you can get a speed boost. I also love the physics on the hive itself. One problem I found was it's too easy to get stuck between the hive and the branch, but otherwise I like this a lot!!
Screenshot (128).png i trapped myself in the wax :joy:
cool game what is even cooler is that you used "love" not an actual game engine and I really like that a lot.
Cute game, the graphics are fun and the gameplay is entertaining. Good job :D
I like that you've specified Alt+F4 as the "button to quit" the game.
I think the game could have used the list of controls inside the game as well. I really didn't know what I was doing the first time around.
The second time around it was a lot easier, perhaps even too easy.
I did enjoy the fact that this has been the only game I've ever played on Ludum Dare with real nature sounds.
Fun little game and unique take on the theme. I like the audio, good job!
I won by a single cell! Then a read the instructions and learned I could shoot wax, which made it a lot easier. An interesting design executed well. Nice work.
Very unique idea! Pretty fun scrambling back and forth to stop the bugs. I did get accidentally block myself by shooting too much in one place though. An additional mechanic to remove your own wax might be nice. Overall though, very nice game! Good job!
Really creative use of the theme. It'd be nice if ants couldn't get stuck where you can't get to them. Those kind of felt bad, as there was no way to stop them after a certain point. Otherwise, the concept was really fun!
once understand the logic of game, it gets really fun to play!
I believe the strategy could be deeper, wish there are more levels :)
What a Lövely game! Thank you for submitting it to the stream
It took me some thinking and strategizing, but in the end I managed to squash the ant invasion and usher the bees into a new era of peace!
The idea of this game is great, I found it so cool the first time I saw the beehive fall down when it lost the final connection to the tree. Never seen a game like this before, a lot of points for originality :star:
Great job! :trophy:
Cute little game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 49 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/QOqT7v58gqA
Interesting concept! I love the main character, super adorable!! I had to fullscreen the game to be able to properly see what was going on though.
I won't lie, at first I thought I was eating the ants, not squishing them haha!! However, well done!!
Nice game! I found it to be really fun! One ant managed to get inside my base and then I couldn't chase after it which was a little tough, but I think you did good and this has some real potential to be a commercial game. Good job!
Played it on stream! I'll do my best to get my full review in soon, but if you want to check out my thoughts early, here it is in recorded form:

Alright, full comments on my playthrough.
To be completely honest, this game feels...rough. There's an interesting idea in here where potentially honeycombs are used to attach and create Lego-like formations to deal with an incoming threat. The physical nature of how the beehive holds itself on the branches looks like it could be expanded to an interesting, maybe even experimental experience. And the risk-reward of letting ants eat the beehive to gain speed upgrade hints at some interesting game design direction.
As the game currently is, I felt the game was too simplistic. The behavior of the ants are very predictable, and honestly reminds me of tower defense games. Without a currency or upgrade system, though, it didn't feel like I was planning ahead and being rewarded for the preparations I've made. Instead, I felt like I was going through a repetitive motion of keeping ants away from the beehive. It didn't help that the direction Jenny aims is a bit unpredictable without a reticle or line-of-sight HUD element.
I get the sense that there wasn't a lot of time to develop this game, which is understandable. Would certainly like to see some of the elements in the games being brought to new and interesting directions.
The game had an interesting core loop that was fun to play. It took me a couple rounds to understand what was happening before I read the instructions, but the instructions were pretty clear when I got there. It was a little too easy to trap yourself. Nice satisfying sound effects, overall a very nice entry.
