And still the fire burns by Erkberg 2021-10-06T17:52:42Z

Nice game! The fire visual effect is really nice. I found W = jump/Space = run a bit unintuitive but other than that I have no real complaints. Also I appreciate having the ending rather than just a 'you win' message.

Labarnas — A narrative board game in ancient times by SimonL 2021-10-06T22:48:04Z

Nice game! I don't have a printer so I played it by copy-pasting tokens around in Gimp, which worked pretty well. It seems pretty balanced in terms of there being no obvious best strategy and every option having both benefits and drawbacks, although quite hard (I played the game 3 times before I won). I definitely felt the 'crumbling empire' vibe trying to shift my people around in the hope of surviving, which is good.

I think some aspects of the rules could be explained a bit better. At first I couldn't understand what effect assigning cards in the 'Feast of the Gods' phase was supposed to have (I initially assumed that the events would have a special clause where assigned cards would reduce the strength of the Assyrian attack or something like that). Additionally, the notation `⌊x⌋` / `⌈x⌉` isn't recognised by a lot of people from what I've seen (and pretty impossible for them to Google if they don't know it) so it should probably be replaced by an explanation in words or at least have an entry in the glossary (and there will be a smaller number of people who won't understand `min(x, y)` / `max(x, y)` either so maybe the same applies). That said, it obviously makes sense in the context of a time-limited jam to use these abbreviations.

Finally, one tiny typo: the map says 'Kizz**a**watna' instead of 'Kizz**u**watna'.

UN's Table by Ekoxe 2021-10-04T23:00:37Z

I'm impressed at how good the AI is

Sliced Ice by Void4 2021-10-05T00:08:18Z

Ah thanks for letting me know, I probably missed that due to not reaching that point since I am bad at my own game :P. I think I've found the problem (I was removing elements from a list while iterating through it leading to an index out of bounds), but I'm going to wait until I figure out how to fix the bug in my water shader before I upload a fix.

Shikigami by MaximeG 2024-10-19T11:19:08Z

This has a pretty impressive amount of enemy and power up variety, especially for a compo game, nicely done!

W.A.S.P. - Warrior And Scout Protocol by Paroxysmal 2024-10-07T19:36:14Z

This game was a lot of fun, I've been playing it for longer than any of the other games I've played so far. I had a look at the code to understand which upgrades are best and I think there is an interesting bug that allows you to get 1 more Shot Time + than intended - due to floating point rounding errors, when you have 2 upgrades your attack delay is 0.35000000000000003 so the <= 0.35 check passes.

Critter Wrangler by LelulaGames 2024-10-07T23:26:51Z

Nice game, the 2D art is really beautiful. I think it would work a bit better if the 2D sprites always faced the camera rather than having a fixed direction so you can't see the sides and they don't stick out as much.

Plankton Rush Hour by Void4 2024-10-07T00:13:45Z

The stink and rage effects do technically work, but they rarely have much of an effect since once there are enough plankton they all get jammed together and can't move where they want. The abilities in general are a bit janky and tacked on since I rushed adding them in the last hour or two.

Apex Elysium by Bogden 2024-10-06T23:27:55Z

Very slick and polished, nicely done!

The Wriggling Path by leckert 2024-10-07T20:39:34Z

This game is amazing, I love it. If you were to take it beyond LD my one suggestion would be to demonstrate what each of the creatures does a bit more clearly (for example I didn't understand what quite a few of the early ones did until quite late).

MonkePok by LetsSnack 2024-10-07T23:18:47Z

Wow this game is really addictive. Overall, the scaling is very well balanced; early on every bit of money counts and fights are hard, then in the mid game you grow in bursts followed by lulls where you build up your strength to beat a tough enemy. Later on there comes a point when you start to outgrow the enemies and scale exponentially, before finally tapering off when you can't kill enemies fast enough to pay for fusing. I think my score was about as high as most people have patience for, but anyone is welcome to prove me wrong... 👀

Dubby: A dung beetle adventure game by basic_eagles 2024-10-08T11:08:17Z

Nice game, there's a lot more content than I would have expected. The main issue I had is that the jump charging bar doesn't really give a good indication of how far you are going to jump (it seems like you can charge well beyond the end of the bar?). Also I feel like the charge times in general could do with being lower given that most of the jumps need a nearly full charge so you spend a lot of time just waiting for the jump to charge up.

Clean Line by Jesús González 2025-10-06T22:00:55Z

Great game, had a lot of fun trying to create the perfect loop that visits every bin and recycling centre.

The Return of Tom Lander by rubentipparach 2025-10-09T14:03:17Z

This is a really impressive game for the amount of time you had (extremely difficult though). I eventually beat it only with the easy-mode controls, using the harder controls I'm not sure I would ever even have managed to make it past the first level.

The Antiquary by Bobap 2025-10-09T12:02:35Z

Nice game, I played it for quite a while. Is the renown system not yet implemented or did I miss out on how to get it?

Card Economist by coatline 2025-10-07T15:49:00Z

Very fun game. It felt a bit cumbersome dropping and picking cards off the floor and it would have been nice to be able to carry a few at once, but maybe it's intended the way it is. It's definitely nice that you are encouraged to walk around the world rather than just playing the whole game inside a trading GUI.

You no take OIL! by mremmele 2025-10-07T16:06:28Z

I really enjoyed playing this, sadly I lost with 10 seconds to spare. One thing I would recommend is making the collector aura fainter and less flashy, it becomes a bit of an eyesore and makes it hard to see when it's filling a lot of the screen.

Lil'Jones 2: The Collector's Tomb by SolidHinken 2025-10-07T11:40:32Z

Nice game! Is there a way to lose? Other similar-looking games have trained me to expect that walking on the rocks on the floor would slow me down and then the rolling ball would catch me if I hit too many rocks, but it seems to just keep a constant pace?

Piggybank goes forth by Flying Dog Fish 2025-10-07T16:55:16Z

Nice work, there's quite a lot of content for a LD game. I think the camera angle could do with some smoothing (or possibly just keep facing the same way without rotating) since currently it is a bit jumpy and disconcerting.

Rune Rangers by Taximan981 2025-10-06T23:46:06Z

Very high-quality game. Are there different-coloured variants after the first 3 creatures or did I get unlucky finding them?

Catorus by TopperVideoGames 2025-10-08T15:33:45Z

Very innovative game, nice work! I was confused about what happens when you crash into something without pressing the eat button, does it count as eating it or is it wasted? I think either way a progress bar would be very helpful.

Blood and Bounty by Torami 2025-10-08T11:44:34Z

Very nice game, I love the level start animation where all the tiles fall from the sky. Other than what you've already said you had planned as future additions there's not much I can add, the only thing is that on later levels where there are like 10-15 enemies I would have liked a setting to make them all move at once rather than waiting for each one to move sequentially.

QIZI: Flag Collector by YurisCat 2025-10-09T12:19:38Z

I love this game, I can totally see this working as the basis for a fully-fledged game beyond LD. Is it intended that all the pieces move together? I can see that when you move the standard bearer all the others move but it seems strange that when you move the bishops for example that everything moves diagonally with them.

HarvestValley by OldDog 2025-10-08T13:18:32Z

Really impressive game, I played to the end and then until I had unlocked most of the upgrades. Overall it is pretty well balanced, although wood could definitely do with a buff since it's so slow to get (I prioritised milk and could easily get hundreds near the end).

Open Collector by Void4 2025-10-07T12:17:55Z

Yes, that is the only real puzzle mechanic I came up with: one of the keys can be wasted and you have to explore the whole map to figure out the right one to save, although in theory (unless there is a bug) it should always be possible to finish the game in that case (but without the maximum possible score). The two types of key needed to reach the end have enough copies that you can't run out of them. Originally I wanted some kind of mechanic where you take keys out of doors and close them again to open other ones, but I only got around to making the actual map in the last couple of hours of the compo so it got cut.

Open Collector by Void4 2025-10-07T15:46:51Z

No, blinking is totally pointless. I added it originally as a atmosphere/polish kind of thing, and then since my code was buggy I added a keybind to test it, and then decided to leave it in. I'm definitely going to add blinking to games I make in the future.

H.E.N.R.Y the Head Harvester by Arnazian 2025-10-08T17:18:16Z

Love the animations, nicely done!

Outstanding game, definitely deserves 5 stars in several categories.

Shaman by tsuyurikuraudo 2025-10-09T13:26:02Z

Excellent game, the puzzles have a ton of depth. If you take this further, in addition to what other people have said, I think that when a creature is buffing/debuffing its neighbours it should indicate that on hover i.e. when your mouse is over it the creatures it is debuffing get highlighted in red for example.

Wingless by KriSsS Gonko 2025-10-07T14:57:44Z

Damn, this is really good

C.A.P.S by zowell 2025-10-07T15:23:19Z

I'm a bit confused on how the lifebuoy works, it always seems to give 4 points without doubling anything, is that correct?

Grid Commander by alstegodev 2025-10-06T20:18:10Z

Excellent concept, definitely the most fun I've had in an LD game in a while. My only complaint is that some of the icons really don't help you understand what the cards do (especially the green and blue ones); even with a lot of restarting and experimenting I had to check the code to fully understand why the attacks sometimes don't hit all the enemies I was expecting them to. If you were to take it further, I would suggest making the cards change texture slightly as you stack them to make it clear what they are currently able to do and indicating the maximum number of targets more clearly on the cards.

Not just golds by Yanruyi 2025-10-09T10:37:53Z

Very nice game! I feel like there were so many secrets that I never found, especially in the later areas where you have to walk through a tunnel that only fits the smallest size of bird.

Litter Raider by EpicTroll 2025-10-07T14:31:59Z

Nice game! I think it would benefit from some longer-distance hint of where to look, otherwise once you've found like 5 out of 7 things you kind of just have to exhaustively scour the whole map.
