This is delightful, totally destroys any conception of game genres, and is the first game I've played with a pen tablet. Making a note to come back to the collection page later.
very cool i loved how you managed to throw me back in time ! <3 thank you for that
I went in blind, and I was hoping the drawings were shared on the cloud (but didn't know for sure while drawing), and it was super pleasant to see my drawings were saved for others to see! I drew random stuff though haha. I also really liked the voice acting! A cool entry :)
Definitely a neat and an original entry! I wish there were more voice indications on the things we are supposed to draw.
that was just amazing, I loved it and I want to organize real life drawing sessions like that now
Super cool! I am glad i went in blind. For the first drawing i was desperately trying to figure out what the prompt was before i realized it wasn't a real thing. Having a minimal amount of time that you need to spend drawing was nice, i felt like i could just have fun drawing!
Really original entry, I just drew whatever, but had fun anyway :D
@jacobwinters thank you! There are some gems in there already!
@guillaumepauli glad we could give you that feeling
@thomas-bringer that is kinda my thing over here  I have my own website, so I can hack any PHP script together to make it receive about anything I can think of. Which is cool indeed!!
@wakobu Thank you! Some more voicelines would have been great indeed, timepressure was kinda in the way
@upint Awesome that we could give you some inspiration! That sounds fun IRL too indeed. Have you ever heard of the game "Exquisite Corpse"? We did it at a family gathering last month and it was also really fun! I linked it below:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exquisite_corpse
@electric-sun I imagine kinds have that feeling too haha, that was exactly what we tried to convey so thats a big compliment! Did you ever try to... Ignore the clock? :smirk:
@cagibi that's what matters most! Thanks for playing!
I'm the only one who filled out the sheet correctly! :D
I didn't know where it was going, I don't know where it went, but I had a good time doing my drawings :D
This is such a charming and relaxing game, I found myself basking in the ambience and the voices telling me what to draw. Being able to see other's drawings makes for a beautiful little album at the end.
Amazing job at designing this <3
Going in blind was definitely the best way to play. I felt a little confused at first because I thought I was missing something but once I realised it was kind of just for fun it ended up really enjoyable. I loved seeing how similar and different other peoples drawings were!
Really unique and heartwarming idea! I went in blind and Iβm glad I did - it felt spontaneous and surprising. I actually had a similar thought about collecting something from players, but I was too lazy to set up a server for it. You pulled it off perfectly, great job :)
Great idea, loved the little extras with the tipex and the pen
Wow I'm glad I played this before reading the comments. I love this entry so much. It's cute, it's funny, it's a little bit weird but most of all it's memorable. I loved seeing the drawings everyone else made at the end and how vastly different our interpretations are.
@wouter52 I love exquisite corpse ! Btw does "Hottentottententententoonstelling" really means authentic tent exhibition ? I remember learning that in Flemish class but now I don't know if it's a monster or tents
Oh man, this was *so* much fun - I honestly probably could have sat there drawing for a lot longer, if I hadn't kept accidentally losing my pencil under various other UI elements π I kind of want to play this game in an analog format with some artist friends, it was just a blast
I'm so glad that I went in blind like that comment suggested - It would have been so sad to have the twists and turns of these creature descriptions be spoiled!

I think the first one for this was something_somthing-story, something with triangles and that would wear cloths and that the romans would be happy to see it.
The second one had 2 legs and could hold ice creams?
Anyway, this sort of game would not normally be my cup of tea but something about the comments in the background and the style made it work well.
PS. I also lost my pencil under the timer.
@pierre-marie ayy that's great! :smile:
Your drawings were uploaded to my website, which is stored in de EU :-) You can find them here: https://wouter52.com/PROJECTS/LD58/PLAY/uploads/
@pengu123 Thank you! That means a lot :-)
@pegasys yeah I know exactly what you mean! The drawings all have some overarching vibe I think Lizz and I just invented a new activity haha
@mikita-gancharou Thank you! I luckaly had the server already in place and in the past I have done a game where also an image is uploaded and showed (the cookie is a lie). So it was basicly lots of tweaking until it worked :-)
@vinnnie thank you! We had lots of fun with that too, it made us feel like a child
@roitchie thank you so much! Memorable even, whouw! That means a lot to us
Oops... Hit the send button too many times.. :no_mouth:
@upint "Hottentottententententoonstelling" is a bogus-word really. It does not mean anyting. Or at least, the two parts sperate mean something (now googling it and I learn a lot).
So basicly, the first part ("hottentotten") is a Dutch naming for a tribe that was found in South-Afrika The second part "tentententoonstelling" means "Tent exhibition" indeed.
The phrase is primarily used with word rittle games like Hangman. Its supposed to be hard, but everyone knows by now that if some smart*ss puts this on the chalkboard: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ tht the first letters to be guessed are "E" "T" "N" ππ
@koolruz haha thats nice! We intended that behaviour , as children put there pencils also everywhere and nowhere at the same time  did you find the "forbidden items"? Near the clock there is a hidden item per scene which you are not supposed to play with , we had fun playing with that. It made us feel like a child too
Those drawings are lovely! I like how you used the paint to make shadows
@oliver-day Those are so lovely! Great job , I see you went twice! Thanks for the big compliment! We're glad you had fun
You really got this Ludum Dare thing figured out, spewing nothing but hits lately, well done! This one is a good mix of functional, fun product and artistic inventiveness. Nothing really to complain about except that the submit button is wonky, though I'm still not sure if that is on purpose because failing to click the button is the only way to find the bonus item (stapler), maybe I missed some more in my hurry to make the button work.
Making us draw things that we (most of us) don't know what they are is a very nice touch as well. The two of you clearly compliment each other well and I hope you keep creating as a duo. PS - I know you (Wouter) are not into IF so please don't feel compelled to play my "game".
This was fun! A really unique concept *and* a really unique use of the theme. For the first one I drew a "mystic cat" because that's what the word sounded like, and by the time they started giving descriptions I just ignored them and ran with what I was already doing. Was fun to see everyone else's interpretations of the descriptions as well!
@kr4ft3r ayy nice to see you here! No worries, my plan is to join up with my other friend next time. Those games, as you may know, can be a bit... experimental.. But thanks for the big compliment! This time we were pretty relaxed up until 6 hours before the deadline. I just uploaded a timelapse somewhere on the LD website, I think you can really see the panic in the last hour or so. The screen starts flashing very rapidly
The submitbutton is only clickable when it turns blue (when the timer runs out), did you perhaps click it when it was gray? :-)
Lizz really follows the fun and the educational parts of the process, while I look at the things I find interesting to implement. I think she has a good influence π₯°
I played your game earlier today, but as you already knew, reading is not my thing. I'll wait until the weekend to try the other brances and will leave a comment :-)
@f1krazy Thanks for playing! I just checked your painting skills and I like it :-) Shirly belongs on a fridge!
This is probably the most adorable game I've ever played π₯Ί really feels like you're a kid again, and you're just slowly remembering the details of whatever you're supposed to be drawing! I hadn't seen this kind of drawing challenge before, it's so creative!! Well done the both of you <3
vivaldi_h4GNhcPHG2.png
SO CUTE
There was something just so comfortable about this game, drawing with these limited tools with your parents describing these curious creatures as you try to imagine them just off their name and adjusting on the go as they continue to give you little hints. I was caught off-guard by the couple of dirty jokes along the way but this game just puts you in that place of a kid who doesn't really know... I loved too, after I was done, scrolling through the gallery and seeing what others came up with off the same description x3
Lovely entry, possibly the cutest one I've played.
Screenshot_20251009_124419.png
@catusfelony funny animals!!!
@fupi ayy grat to see you here! Those a wonderful drawings Thank you for the big compliments! That means a lot to us π₯°
@catusfelony Thank you!! Those drawings are cute  You're the first speaking about the dirty jokes π I wonder if anyone else found those
Brilliant entry. Super good job. Love seeing all the doodles.
@samuli thank you! :smile:
I had so much fun drawing even though I'm terrible at it! The setting really helped to not stress about it and just be a kid again. Brilliant voice acting!
Very cool experience! This was refreshing! The interface was very clean and usable.
The voice lines created a very interesting psychological journey.
Hahaha. This was a lot of fun. I felt like a kid again. It was fun to try and adapt my drawings as new rules came in. I think my Hottentottententententoonstelling is looking quite dapper at the theatre lol.
Screenshot 2025-10-12 114431.png
What a riot! Loved drawing with subpar tools that made me feel like a kid again! Also really great idea to be able to see everyone's fabulous creations, someone signing with name and age has me cry laughing. I love what you were able to put together!
well, nice drawings people. Not sure what they were saying but i kinda ran with it. Not knowing the time it was going to be done had me anxious.
Really appreciate you writing to go in blind - I had no idea what's gonna happen :D
Fun concept of not knowing at all in the beginning, and then getting pieces of info over time that I had to adjust my paintings to. Also liked the narration as it gave the game a lot of life :)
Screenshot 2025-10-13 181231.png
@sibi thank you! that was our intention, so I'm glad it worked for you :-)
@silas-reinagel Thank you! We spent a lot of time getting the interface just right (maybe too much time haha) so I'm happy you mentioned it :-)
@cameronpenner Those are delightful! Thanks for playing. I'm glad you had fun!
@freeworld hahaha that's awesome! I'm glad we made you laugh. It's the simple things in life I guess :)
@commanderstitch thanks! I think most kids do it like that  The clock in the top right corner gave the minimum time for each drawing. Did you see that? Or did the clock turn off because you clicked it? π
@rynti Thank you! I'm glad the first player gave that warning for us. I think it elevates the experience indeed
Lovely drawings!
This was really wonderful! Such a creative idea :D I enjoyed it a lot
Also the stuff happening in the background while I am just drawing away is kind of genius (and very funny :P). I feel like you could make an emotional story-based game in this way, if you wanted to. It might be an interesting way of telling a story
Heel erg goed gedaan! Zeker het meest unieke spel wat ik heb gespeeld van de jam tot nu toe ;)
On Firefox this does not seem to work? I can type a nickname, but pressing enter does nothing. Too bad, I was curious after reading the other comments (but I only play games in the browser out of security considerations).
Screenshot from 2025-10-13 23-33-33.png
Hah! That was really charming and fun to do. I loved their voices too, and the concept surprised me. That was great!
@wuppos ay thanks voor de complimenten! This is an interesting way of telling a story indeed, but I feel that it works best for me in this context. Some people will love a longer version, but personally I'm not that kind of a story-game-guy. So this is as far as I will take it :innocent:
@dining-philosopher oh wow... euh... that's not supposed to happen π I used firefox pretty much the whole weekend for development and debugguing. Looks like it dowloaded the wrong images. Did you try CTRL+F5? I would love to know what is a happening in the background. Maybe you have some extention that alters images in some way? What does it say in the network tab? Other question: this is not Windows I suppose? It seems to not recognize the fonts either π€
@jahwffrey thanks! Great you had a good time!
Cute game! Thanks ^_^
@xpoho thanks to you too!
You got the palm sir. Really good project which is really well done - with a clever twist of the theme. I guess that my therapist could like it. Seriously, the main idea is amazing and I had fun drawing my colored monsters. I am very happy because now I know your voices my dear friends - with a little German accent and it's fun (don't be offended). I can say that this is one of my favorite entries for this 58th LudumDare session. Thank you for your review about my own project. I wish the best ++
@wouter52 In the network tab it shows everything gets successfully loaded (except the favicon), I can also see the images there (uncorrupted). I'm on Linux so that probably has something to do with it. Which framework/library did you use?
@dining-philosopher Well, that thickens the plot! Which distro (including version) do you use? And which version Firefox? And which extentions in Firefox? I would like to spin up a vm this weekend to investigate :-)
Regarding the framework/library: I use none. The code has been created/formed over the past five years and is pure JS. So if there is a bug, it's probably me π
@geckoo1337 ooooh we've got some original geckoo-art now! π€© Thanks for the big compliments! That means a lot to us! We know that you don't say that 'just because', so it has gravity
Strange, isn't it? We've talked a lot and then you hear our voices for the first time (or at least Lizz's, you've heard mine already in the feedback video for StarDust remember?). But.. A German accent? That's a first for us  I have German family, so maybe we've been influenced. But honestly, I think what you hear is Frisian. Which is an area in the North of the Netherlands that has it's own Language. It has a distinct sound to it
03_Friesland_alles_1-1920x1377-1142622945.jpg
@wouter52 distro+version I'd rather not share (for security reasons), but it looks like this on Firefox 143.0.1 with no extensions. Super cool that you made your own framework like this! I used CraftyJS for a long time, never considered writing my own framework xD
That was really cute. We did a lot of drawing games with friends during covid so the chaos is kinda familiar xD
Btw as a German both VAs have clearly a dutch accent to me (which is also cute)^^
@dining-philosopher I can respect that, security is important πͺπΎ I'll try a few big-name distro's over the comming weeks when I have some spare time. As you're into security, I doubt that I will come close to your setup but maybe it gives some insight. Thanks again! I'm sorry that you can't play this game
Or maybe... Euh.. You could try entering an alias (minimal 3 characters) and click the button on the bottom-right corner. And the menu after that (after the dialog is finished) you can click the bottom-most-right again to play. That button enables offline mode, where the drawings won't be shared to my server. It's there for privacy conscious people like you :-)
Maybe.. Maybe the graphics will behave during gameplay ππ
Screenshot 2025-10-14 230037.png Screenshot 2025-10-14 230106.png
Regarding the framework: I like it π And it leaves me in control. There are no dependances that can go bad. Apart from JS itself I guess :) It has pro's but also lots of cons as you may imagine
CraftyJS looks interesting! Thanks for sharing
@willoxs We did too! It was an intersting time  One of those games was "guess what I'm drawing" with all other friends over the phone screaming random words that they thought was drawn
Glad you liked it! The Dutch accent is very thick I guess haha
That was incredible! Actually took me back in time, absolutely nailed the theme and made it look like a kid drew it! Thank you so much
Okay I love this dearly. I have a bit of hand injury at a moment, so I couldn't play for the duration - but even just the audio is brilliant (I left it running!) This is extremely clever and a brilliant use of the theme. The spacing of the audio prompts kept me on my toes and guided the experience wonderfully. Sorry for just being all positive here, but I have little in the way of other feedback. I'll come back to this when my hand is healed up a little! Incredible work!
@archmage-gary Thank you for the big compilments!
@threeli wouw thank you! The "I will come back to play it propper" remark is in my eyes the biggest compliment we can get on this platform! π₯° Glad you could enjoy our voice acting, there are some dirty lines in there haha
I wish you a good recovery! Hopefully it's nothing serious
Drawing is so restness, I should draw more often but I always found excuses to not. Thanks to this original entry I had to follow my imagination and just have fun drawing random stuff for a little while, and that's really cool of you to gave us this. But it didn't prevent me to ear and laugh with some⦠special talks from the adults characters - nice voiceover, btw. Good job!
@lereveur ayy great to see you here! I think we all need to draw more π₯° It's therapeutic and gives room to think I'm glad you had a good time my friend!
Here's my horrible abominations. :ghost: :pencil2: :paintbrush:
I apologize in advance.

This was a nice little cross-genre experience. I like how you were given instructions on the way and the characters got "frustrated" if you took too much time.
I've seen a bit similar drawing games with a gallery feature done here before, such as [this one.](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/$283266) Your creation gave the concept a nice little spin and a unique personality.
The way it also randomized the kitchen wall was a nice little touch.
Keep on jamming!
@dis0rder thank you so much for sharing that little nugget of information! I can't believe I've never heard of "different strokes" as it has 300+ ratings! I was around during LD50 (with [SensenCemetery](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/sensenmanncemetary)) and was pretty active rating games  I will give that game a try later, it looks awesome
Love the drawings you made, it's got that distinct Dis0rder vibe
Glad you enjoyed the game :-) Thanks for the feedback / ratings
@wouter52 No prob!
And yeah, I think it generated a bit of a buzz back then and got 1st place in Innovation too.
But there's always so much to see here so it's easy to miss even "prominent" entries. And I think it's all the better that the hidden gems and even the mishaps get their share of love and attention.
@dis0rder well, I do focus more on new LDers and friends on the platform first π€
I usually do a post one week before the weekend starts outlining some tips for new players with the message to comment, so I will check out their game during rating. Those two combined are enough games to keep me occupied for the next three weeks π
But hey, I like it that way, it gives the feeling that I experienced something not a lot of people experienced and it gives more to talk about regarding feedback and such, as new LDers usually have to learn lots of stuff still. I agree that the hidden gems / mishaps should get some love, feedback and encouragement
This is just brilliant. On the technical side I want to mention cool mechanics, that paint brush needs to be refilled - so clever! Thank you for the experience.
I really enjoyed the game, and I think it does the fantasy of being a child really well: being given a task that you don't really understand, but do anyway and the adults will hang it on the fridge no matter how you actually do it. π Honestly, I didn't feel that way for a long time, so thanks for this experience!
I loved the drawings made by others too, most of them are much more detailed than mine π
What a fantastically unique take on the theme! Loved doodling away with this, would have kept going if I didn't need to go to bed! Well done -- excellent work!
That was fun :) Very charming voice acting! Well done!
@woona Glad you had a good time playing our game!
Ayy @digital-bacon! Great to see you here! Thanks for the big compliments!
@n-feofentov Thanks for the mention! That was a pretty late addition, I really wanted to implement that! I think there were only 2,5 hours left on the clock when I shoehorned that in  In the timelapse you can maybe see me frantically progamming that in haha
@mamboman Thanks!
