The game's graphic looks really polished! Love how you took Octagon and give it a twist and let the players change the number of balls they control at a time!

alexis8 2023-10-02 21:29

really fun reflexe game, i just think the two arrow for left and right should swipe between themselves.

jellycopter 2023-10-03 00:48

Nice project, very clean looking! Once it sped up definitely got quite difficult. Would love to have seen more from the multiple buttons making through the ring aside from points, but all in all a good game.

treblecolby 2023-10-03 00:52

Good use of materials, gives it a future-y vibe

monsieurduck 2023-10-03 00:53

Really clean and beautiful game, fun and simple mechanic and satisfying as well. Love the idea.

subsage 2023-10-03 01:43

This reminds me of Thumper. The visuals are very solid. Put some sick music, design a few levels synced to the music and it'll some super neat.

On a note about difficulty, I think you could copy an idea from super-hexagon, that being the number of obstacles/edges changes as the game progresses.

sergei11156 2023-10-03 10:59

I really like the music and sound effects. The mechanics with the addition of blocks that go through obstacles adds tension and involvement. Visually pleasing

eroxxie 2023-10-03 14:38

Graphics and sounds are very neat and a fun idea, i like it!

ex3d0 2023-10-03 23:56

Pretty simple mechanic but really nice visuals. Personally I would've loved for the ability to invert the controls, as at least personally they seem to be doing the opposite of what I would intuitively expect (pressing D or the right arrow seems to spin the wheel left and vice-versa).

mahalis 2023-10-04 02:14

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

@alexis8 and @ex3d0, you’re not the only ones who’ve told me the controls feel backwards… it’s kind of ambiguous whether you’re rotating it from the top or the bottom, or for that matter whether you’re rotating yourself or the entire tunnel. If I do a post-jam version, an option to invert the controls will definitely be in there.

@subsage / @jellycopter, I had plans for adding more gameplay wrinkles as it went on, like changing your available pins from a simple 1–2–3 to different sets with different-sized gaps in them… but there was no time, I barely managed to tune the gameplay as it was  Again, hopefully in a post-jam version once I have the energy for that.

mao 2023-10-04 03:36

Seconding an option to reverse controls. I did get used to it after a while though. My final attempt got 970 points, although I feel like I probably would've gotten more if I just stayed on one pin when things started getting fast.

googlypoo 2023-10-04 06:19

Great visuals and I like how the movement felt when you hit the arrow keys.

goddzeproject 2023-10-04 11:59

Quality implementation in terms of visuals, audio and controls. But the idea is not new and there are no transformations of it, as well as the development of the jam theme has not found a way out in gameplay.

hopem 2023-10-04 12:02

Fun but the controls did not feel intuitive to me. I would have prefered if the controls could be reversed. When I did get used to them, making a mistake made me forget how to play. It was difficult to change the number of pins and rotate on keyboard. I couldn't see the upper part of the circles, so that also made it harder. If I could see them better, I could plan ahead more. Getting the number of pins right and rotating at the same time was exciting.

mahalis 2023-10-04 18:21

@goddzeproject That’s fair! I’ll be the first to admit it’s not particularly original—I was mostly going for good visuals and game-feel. Glad you thought it was well executed at least

bucharlardy 2023-10-05 08:33

玩起来感觉很好,非常棒

purplexy 2023-10-05 12:54

Wow, definitely one of the most impressive visuals I've seen for this game jam, good job!

jk5000 2023-10-05 17:52

The visuals and music is really good! The gameplay idea is okay, but it needs a bit more of a twist on a very classic game. Overall a pretty well made little jam game. Well done.

oter 2023-10-05 18:42

Since you were talking in an earlier comment about tweaking the pins, I think it might be cool to assign them to different buttons (hold down j for pin 1, k for 2 and l for 3 or something) just to feel more interactive and like I have more control over the pins as the rings move. But as it was, the game had a nice flow once I got used to the camera directions.

mahalis 2023-10-05 20:42

@oter that’s a good idea! I thought it might be confusing if that were the **only** way to switch, hence the up/down controls, but maybe I could add that as a “pro” option.

designernap 2023-10-05 21:29

really nice level of polish here! You know the only criticism I have is that the visuals are so good, they made the sound feel out of place! :D Such a high bar set in the mood and graphics the audio was left behind! :D Lovely work though and something very moreish when playing it. Nice flow. Great work!

mahalis 2023-10-05 22:09

Ha, thanks @designernap! I’m definitely more of a graphics person than a sound one—the music got a few hours of work (mostly making synthetic instruments out of MetaSound’s generators and figuring out how to do a note sequence) and the sounds went in literally five minutes before the deadline. I’ll figure out a better process someday…

designernap 2023-10-05 22:24

ha! I know the feeling... I was the other way around. My early games looked terrible! but they sounded great! :D

fatemperor 2023-10-06 09:31

I really liked the approach to limited space. I didn't understand why there are three points when you can go through everything with one?

ididgame 2023-10-06 12:10

simple, addictive, very fun! presentation is also great! controls felt backwards to me too which got me a couple times my best score was 950

dhargan 2023-10-06 16:06

Incredibly polished for a compo game, good job!

sudocoffee 2023-10-06 19:49

Game is simple, but kind of addictive to play! And gorgeous too. I reminds me some of the roller coaster rides in Riven (by Cyan).

neeko69 2023-10-07 02:02

Very fun game, really polish controls! although it was hard to know how everything worked at first, but after getting it was pretty intuitive afterwards!

bassilij 2023-10-07 13:45

I liked the graphics. Interesting idea!)

thief 2023-10-08 18:55

Unfortunately I could not play as I got an error saying my laptop didn't support D3D12, and using the -d3d11 commandline option gave the error that your game has not got d3d11 enabled

2thegamechanger 2023-10-08 20:12

Super nice graphics! Simple idea but very polished! Congrats!

arivaneverdingen 2023-10-09 00:14

Adding/Removing the pins was a nice twist!

lincolnsalles 2023-10-09 01:19

I would really like to be able to play this game, but all the unreal games are not opening on my windows 7..

martin-bousquet 2023-10-09 10:38

Super cool concept, changing the pin number is interesting, it adds challenge.

rasblo 2023-10-09 21:07

Love it, very nice combination of the theme and a rhythm/timing game. Thumper was mentioned and yes your visuals are not far from, impressive! I see this and directly wish you put even more focus on the music, and if you're interested maybe look into FMOD and making the obstacles show up to the beat.

najjaman 2023-10-13 20:29

Very good graphics! Pleasing to play on that side. The audio doesn't match that polish, sadly, so it feels tacked on. I liked the game idea and had fun playing it. The gradual speed-up is enough to make it challenging. On the execution side, however, I was confused because I had to press Right on the keyboard to go to the left, and that was frustrating because I had to mentally map these opposites, and my last-second dodges almost always failed. Good job, looking forward to play your next games :)

nathan-franck 2023-10-20 15:45

Really pleasant graphics, appreciate you making it still runnable on my laptop at decent frames (lots of unreal games seem like they are just bashing my GPU into dust). Design seems pretty loose, gameplay pretty random, but the concept is fine! Font choice with the glowey game elements is nice.

madjackmcmad 2023-10-20 18:36

Runs great, looks great, tried and true idea, fantastic implementation. Fine work! You aimed for a TRON style vibe and landed pretty close! Keep it up.
