LD24 — Evolution

Where am I? by AgentParsec 2012-08-27T20:59:00

I know it's lacking in the theme. Honestly, out of all the themes that were up for vote, I was hoping out of all of them that Evolution wouldn't be picked, since I didn't have an idea for it. Honestly, I think I was more interested to see if I could make something in 48 hours.

Where am I? by AgentParsec 2012-09-11T01:22:00

samoojamies: Wow, this is the second time I've had download issues with Mediafire. I don't know why people keep recommending it to me.

LD27 — 10 Seconds

Four Bombs by Clavus 2013-08-26T02:19:00

My last attempt I finished it with just under a second left.

Ironically I also made a game called "Four Bombs", and that was only because I didn't finish all ten I was planning...

LD28 — You Only Get One

Only One Robot... or may be Boss? by Smirnov48 2013-12-16T21:29:00

The robot's way to hard to control.

Wraith by AgentParsec 2013-12-16T03:25:00

@patricklorio -- Yeah, I might just take down the webplayer version. I have no idea why it's not working correctly when the regular versions do.

Wraith by AgentParsec 2013-12-16T19:25:00

@jillytot -- Is that the webplayer version or one of the other versions?

Wraith by AgentParsec 2013-12-16T23:05:00

@DaanVanYperen -- I mentioned it in the pre-game instructions. After wasting your bullet, you can use right-click to see your coordinates in order to help you try and escape.

Wraith by AgentParsec 2013-12-21T02:10:00

@plaguespark -- That's not an error, you got caught by the wraith. You need to watch your back, especially if you hear sounds behind you.

Candy Mogul by tassadar 2013-12-16T03:14:00

On day 4, nobody went to get any candy except one person. As a result I didn't even get the chance to get enough candy to continue. Other than that, not bad.

LD29 — Beneath the Surface

SUNK by GeorgeBroussard 2014-04-27T23:00:00

259.6 seconds.

Seed by AgentParsec 2014-05-01T03:22:00

@ryangatts -- It gets harder with each level as more rocks and bugs are added. The furthest I've gotten (as of writing this) is level 11.

Seed by AgentParsec 2014-05-04T00:32:00

@Empyrealhell -- Brightness with the monitor? Mine is at its default, and I can see things fine. I could make a brightness adjuster, but I just didn't have time within 48 hours.

Temple of Ra by Split82 2014-05-04T17:31:00

Very well done, especially for 48 hours.

Doug Diggz by eatsleepindie 2014-04-28T18:52:00

Controls need work, half the time it wouldn't respond to trying to dig down.

Since you're using Unity, are you checking input on FixedUpdate instead of Update? That might be what's causing the problem if you are; input should always be read on Update since the intervals on FixedUpdate don't always correspond to when input is read.

LD30 — Connected Worlds

Dreamshift by AgentParsec 2014-08-25T03:50:00

@lucidsheep - It's not a glitch; you wake up as soon as your energy recharges, so if you force yourself to go to sleep while your energy is almost full, it will wake you up immediately. Jump around a bit to burn off some energy first and you'll be fine.

Dreamshift by AgentParsec 2014-08-25T04:00:00

@nintendoeats - If you press 'x', it makes you fall asleep immediately, at the cost of some additional stress.

Dreamshift by AgentParsec 2014-09-14T21:00:00

@mrspeaker - Just the source requires Unity, the Windows export doesn't need it to run. Also, I didn't do the web player export because it was buggy.

O-Inari Origami by Solifuge 2014-12-31T07:58:00

By the way, if you have plans to finish and release the game, hit me up for the music. :)

Finish Your Project by AgentParsec 2014-12-08T00:17:00

@BaneStar007 - If the blue or green bars max out, it forces your next action to be sleeping or eating. Otherwise, the main effect is that the higher the bars are, the less your inspiration builds. If they're overall too high, then your inspiration will actually go down, making it impossible to work on the project until you can get everything back in order.

Scratch Track by playvue 2014-12-17T03:26:00

It's a good idea for a game, but for some reason I wasn't getting any sound. I know it's not my speakers, because I have been getting audio from all other games I've played. Refreshing didn't help either.

Protect The Fire by Laks8 2014-12-12T03:49:00

Turrets need to fire at the nearest enemy to them, not all at the same enemy together.

Mobius Dungeon by nesis 2014-12-10T09:28:00

I remember I used to have a game on the Apple II a long time ago that had dynamite you could place, and if you switched to a different screen, the dynamite you placed would stay in the same relative position. I'm pretty sure it was a bug in that game, but I still used it to my advantage sometimes. This reminded me of that. :)

My game, if you wanted to try it: http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-31/?action=preview&uid=12468 (It takes a long time to play through it entirely though.)

Attack of the Screen Scrollers by drludos 2014-12-08T03:41:00

Very fun and innovative, but if you get stunned by one of those blasts, it's pretty much game over since you can't dodge any of the other ones also shooting. Either have it stop shooting for a bit, or have it outright destroy the player. Otherwise, good job.

ATSS - A Typical Space Shooter by Groydis 2014-12-08T03:28:00

Need a shield or something, I died within a couple of seconds each time I played. Once, an enemy literally spawned directly in front of me and was unavoidable.

Not-your-average-pacman by jfreax 2014-12-08T03:03:00

Interesting, but it gets into a lot of situations where it's nigh impossible to proceed, like 4 ghosts clustered around the last dots and refusing to budge.

Deicide by Tifu 2014-12-12T03:29:00

Eventually beat all 9 bosses, overall great job for 48 hours!

LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Downbeat by AgentParsec 2015-04-20T02:45:00

@Havacore: Not at the more patterns you match, but how accurate your rhythm is. Green is perfect, blue is good, yellow is poor, and red is bad. The notes last longer and move faster, as well as do more damage, the better you hit the notes directly on-beat.

Downbeat by AgentParsec 2015-04-20T20:08:00

@Birke & @Riccardo: Yeah, it's too late to change it in-game but I can at least update the instructions on the entry page.

Downbeat by AgentParsec 2015-04-20T20:48:00

@berkano: You don't have to press anything for the middle button, it plays by itself as long as you're not pressing any arrow keys.

Gravitron by Zener 2015-04-20T02:41:00

Unconventional, yes, although I wouldn't call it a 'weapon' since it's not being used to attack anything. Still fun.

Super Vegetables by Yakka 2015-04-20T03:27:00

310 was my best.

LD33 — You are the Monster

A troll's life by Paul Sinnett 2015-08-24T02:20:00

Aw, why do all the Al Borland clones hate trolls so much?

Beast Of The Woods by AgentParsec 2015-08-24T05:34:00

@Ethan Allwood -- There are several other platforms to try it out. :)

Beast Of The Woods by AgentParsec 2015-08-24T06:13:00

@cgmorton -- Not sure why it's doing that. I don't actually have Linux to test it on; I just exported Unity to Linux, which has worked for me in the past. Don't know why it didn't work this time.

Ludzilla by highlyinteractive 2015-08-24T02:13:00

I have to admit that the music was hilarious. Fit the mood of the game very well. ^^

Executioner by TheZiggy 2015-08-26T22:35:00

Thought-provoking, although I'd have like to have more info relevant to the case. The family of the convicted shouldn't have any bearing on the decision, and I skipped over that info every time.

Grave by uheartbeast 2015-08-27T00:09:00

Only complaint I have is using the mouse button for attack in a game where the mouse position doesn't matter. I kept drifting it out of the window unconsciously, which in turn caused me to click away from the window and lose control of the game. I was usually dead by the time I got back to it. Otherwise, nice job.

Loki In the 27 th and a 1 / 2 Century by liquidmedia 2015-08-24T23:01:00

Consider locking the cursor and hiding it, otherwise it becomes difficult to play in the web version with the pointer going all over the place.

Poopie the Flying Monster by Sadale 2015-08-24T03:42:00

Seems to work just fine in IE, had no problems. (Unless it's supposed to have audio? That's all that was missing.)

The Stowaway by BuffaloPhil 2015-08-27T22:38:00

As others have mentioned, you need to make sure that the cursor lockmode is set to lock the pointer in the center of the screen, so that it prevents the mouse from reaching the edge of the screen and no longer scrolling. Otherwise, fantastic game. I might examine the source since I'd like to know how you did the lighting in it.

The Stowaway by BuffaloPhil 2015-08-27T22:54:00

Er, the source isn't working? It's a tiny file, and keeps trying to save as 1.htm instead of 1.unity as the path indicates. Maybe zip up the source instead?

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

Nightlight by AgentParsec 2015-12-15T03:30:00

@OkaDoka -- Chrome doesn't support Unity Webplayer. I recommend using one of the download options instead.

Nightlight by AgentParsec 2015-12-19T04:53:00

@MrJoshuaMcLean -- Yeah, a lot of people seem to have had trouble reaching the first one. You should have plenty of time to get there as long as you move right after picking up the nightlight. I think some people might be missing that they can move diagonally, since I've seen at least one person on Twitch not realize that until I told them.

LD35 — Shapeshift

Symblyx by AgentParsec 2016-04-18T03:55:00

@ViliX64 -- It does that at first, but should load eventually. Otherwise, try in a different browser?

@CMLSC -- I've never had that issue in all the testing I did. Not sure what could be causing it for you...

Minimalistic Shifter by mukult 2016-04-18T03:42:00

Hard to play in webplayer because of the mouse not being locked in the window. I keep clicking outside the window since I have to move it that way to move the box around. Otherwise, it's quite well done.

Shape Shifter - Disco Labyrinth Inferno by treegemmer 2016-04-18T03:53:00

Very well done! I'd say that it'd be perfect, if it just had some additional sound besides only the music.

LD37 — One room

OneRoom by atclouse 2016-12-12T03:26:00

Good effort, but I can't seem to do anything besides open the cabinet next to the door.

Furni-Chore by AgentParsec 2016-12-12T06:22:00

@menip -- Yeah, I didn't really make it with a touchpad in mind. If I made a version for touch-capable devices, I'd probably make it so that while dragging you can tap a second finger anywhere to do a rotate.

Pollock Rush by Cole and Jordan Studios 2016-12-18T00:40:00

Didn't play it, because it requested to make changes to my computer (it basically made an admin access request). It shouldn't need that to run.

Kaegis by Membrane 2016-12-12T04:23:00

Score: 28600, Kills: 104, Wave: 37. While not visually impressive, it's a lot of fun and is a very interesting concept.

LD38 — A Small World

A View from Above by OfficialCodeNMore 2017-05-10T23:21:11Z

Interesting storytelling approach. Not bad at all for less than 14 hours.

Nucleu by agentparsec 2017-04-28T23:46:22Z

@simonhutchinson Yes, right click when you have electrons orbiting.

Nucleu by agentparsec 2017-05-01T19:11:37Z

NOTE: I just fixed a bug that occasionally caused the game to become unbeatable. I had literally put a 2 where I should have put a 1; that's sometimes all it takes! Fixes uploaded.

Rocket Roller Space Polo by pkenney 2017-05-09T22:21:38Z

Very well done, I enjoyed it even though I'm terrible at it. :D

drone by atmospherium 2017-05-11T19:48:29Z

I'm a fan of procedural music, so well done! The graphics also suit the purpose of the game very nicely.

Super Smash Globes by 100th_Coin 2017-05-09T22:23:46Z

As a puzzle, it was interesting to solve each one. It could use some sound effects to go with the music.

SHAKEDOWN by LancesCaterpie 2017-05-09T22:20:23Z

Very interesting. Some slight control issues, but otherwise it's was fun to try and figure out what needed to be done.

Ant War by Nordtraveller 2017-05-15T20:10:38Z

My first playthrough the opposing ants attacked immediately, and we somehow killed each other and had no ants left on either side. My second playthrough the opposing ants attacked immediately again and I managed to kill them first, after which I could just attack the other anthill unopposed and destroy it. Needs some more depth, or at least enemies that don't just attack immediately at the start.

Seven Pillars by Jeremy Ryan 2017-05-14T06:07:20Z

My only complaint is that there's no score at the end, no way to compare with others about how good we did.

LD39 — Running out of Power

Power Rod by sixteen 2017-08-17T20:54:44Z

My score was 200. At that point, I encountered a bug that prevented me from continuing: I had hooked a battery, and a fish swam on its own accord into the collection spot, causing it to disappear, but a battery was still on my hook and I was unable to deliver it.

The Big One by Likirus 2017-08-02T17:25:15Z

For whatever reason, it's not letting me move around. Will withhold rating for now.

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

4STAR by bog13 2017-12-06T08:15:10Z

Windows zip just contains assets and bin folders, no actual game.

LD42 — Running out of space

Ludum Dare to be Messy! by jharler 2018-08-15T07:38:50Z

A lot of funny lines throughout the game! Mouse sensitivity needs to be better though, and I wish I could run so that I could keep up with things better; I never left the kitchen area because I couldn't keep up with the trash just in that area. If I tried to go anywhere else in the room, by the time I came back to the kitchen I'd have way more junk scattered everywhere, and I was never without junk in the kitchen so there was no reason to go anywhere else. Otherwise, nicely done!

Defragment VR by agentparsec 2018-08-12T23:14:56Z

@stillnotsure I will update the description accordingly. Thanks!

Defragment VR by agentparsec 2018-08-13T09:56:14Z

@Nexusviper No, it's VR-only.

Space Opera by t-mw 2018-08-16T06:55:40Z

I like music games, I really do. But could you please give some kind of indication of how to play? I have no idea what you're meant to do in this game, even after experimenting with it for a while.

OVERKILL by earnso 2018-08-15T07:29:21Z

Well done overall, I would say though that as more and more enemies spawn, the rate at which they drop health powerups should decline as well. I eventually gave up when I had 27 health and was in no danger of dying anytime soon.

CRUSHED - Rage Inducing Platformer by Ajay.2002 2018-08-15T07:07:36Z

Great mood, difficult but fun!

Puzzle Out VR by glock00 2018-08-18T21:59:39Z

Tested in VR, not bad for such limited time being able to work with VR. This would be really interesting with more puzzles (and maybe some textures on the pieces).

Pre Alpha Build by PlusMinus 2018-08-15T07:52:09Z

Well done overall. After you've filled up all the space with everything you can build, it feels like you have nothing left to do but wait until the forces overwhelm you. I also felt like walls were pricey for what benefit they gave you. Graphics were a very positive part of this; it was a nice touch to give every enemy their own unique look and animations to make it easier to tell what they were even in a crowd.

Running out of Platformers by Aret24 2018-08-15T07:08:48Z

Nice game and fun to play, I would say that the 'running out of space' aspect was rarely encountered. I saw it on the first level, but the rest I played through fast enough that I never even saw the shrinking field.

LD44 — Your life is currency

Cat Outta Hell by tifu 2019-04-30T22:59:30Z

@moldymagnet Thanks for the feedback! In regards to the background music, there should actually be quite a bit of variety. Each upgrade you purchase adds an extra instrument track to it (although it picks 3 of them randomly if you buy more than 3 upgrades, otherwise it would sound cluttered). The platform detection is a little weird because I coded it from scratch (the built-in system for it in Unity gave me problems). I thought I got most of the bugs out of it, but there are still a few lurking around.

Game of Fields by jkniest 2019-05-17T17:59:41Z

Entertaining! I bought a trap on my first roll without realizing exactly how it worked or what it did, and it cost me the game at the end: I was 2 squares from the finish and landed on spikes, losing my last heart.

LD45 — Start with nothing

Ex Nihilo by agentparsec 2019-10-06T06:23:22Z

@omnikrll - I don't think it's meant to be unzipped. It's meant to just be opened as is. That's been my experience with how Unity exports to MacOS.

Ex Nihilo by agentparsec 2019-10-09T04:25:47Z

@chaosed0 Hold right mouse button. (Even if the right mouse button is clicked only for a moment, it still starts to play a sound before it quickly fades back out again.)

Ex Nihilo by Delightfullymad 2019-10-22T08:26:26Z

Not bad. I also made a game called "Ex Nihilo", and it's very similar in theme actually.

Ex Nihilo by Alexascher 2019-10-22T08:19:06Z

Very interesting. I also made a game called "Ex Nihilo", and it's kind of similar in theme actually.

Let There Be Light by michaelaranda 2019-10-08T03:19:33Z

Very nice, always a treat to see other entries with procedural music.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Life of the Party by agentparsec 2020-04-28T03:59:25Z

@Madbarron Yeah, that was one of the flaws. I was still tweaking the difficulty curve as guests are lost until it was time to finish and upload it. Looking back, I think I would have made it so that you don't store the topics just told to you starting at 3 people left rather than 1.

Flicker by sunday_driver 2020-04-28T07:19:23Z

Everything was great about the game except for the difficulty curve. It was too hard straight out of the gate, and I couldn't get very far. The starting area shouldn't have any rain, so that the player can get used to the controls. Otherwise, well done.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Looper Cooper by Imphenzia 2020-10-04T23:28:54Z

I like the fact that you're flying around in a loop, and doing so in a type of plane known for doing loop-de-loops. I always like when games implement the theme in multiple ways (did the same myself). Gameplay is difficult but fun!

Magmania by CameronPenner 2020-10-26T23:19:15Z

I got very close to winning, but I fell 3 yellow blocks short before I went under. It's pretty intuitive though, since I played it without reading the instructions but still managed to figure out what I needed to do. Good job all around!

The Deja Brew by drprettypatty 2020-10-05T01:51:22Z

I certainly didn't expect the sudden twist at the end.

Domain of the Time Wizard by BookerBlueJay 2020-10-05T03:27:30Z

Nicely done, although...

...the red herring orbs threw me off. Didn't realize there were more than 3 to get. I spent way too much time trying to figure out how to get the three I knew about. Everything else, great job!

Domain of the Time Wizard by BookerBlueJay 2020-10-05T17:24:37Z

@bookerbluejay I know they were all possible to get; what I mean is, I could only find one path that got 3 of them in a single pass, and this path didn't include the first 2 I had found. So until I discovered the additional ones, I just kept going in circles trying to figure out how to get the 3 I knew about in one pass, which was impossible.

Lovely Planet (Travel the World) by Elizir 2020-10-05T17:59:22Z

So the title on the page is "Lovely Planet (Travel the World)". The zipfile is named "Travel_the_World_BINARY.zip". The folder it contains is titled "Binary". The executable is named "Travel the World". The title screen when you start up says "Lovely Planet".

Which is the actual title?!

All jokes aside, not a bad job for 24 hours of work. Getting anything to move in a curve around a circle can sometimes be a tricky endeavor, so well done either way.

Easy Mode by BarelyEvenGames 2020-10-05T17:49:57Z

So you're stuck in a loop of having to complete the same level over and over again. Except each time the level is completely different. So not really a loop then...

Good job on gameplay, graphics, sound, the whole thing; it's fun. Theme is verrrrrrry tenuous though.

Escaping the Void. by Oulsen 2020-10-08T18:58:27Z

I almost got it on the first attempt, but I got it after it looped once.

Soul Weaver by GreenRadiation 2024-04-17T14:29:51Z

The fireball guys were mostly useless (they wouldn't attack most of the time), and their wasted resources kept me from staying ahead of the increasing size of enemies. Good game though, and I like the symbol drawing.

Poltergeist for Hire by JudJudson 2024-04-16T02:58:32Z

Not bad, any kind of physics setup like this is tricky to do, let alone in 72 hours. Well done!

Demon Chalk by AmberFall92 2024-04-16T02:53:58Z

Very well done, interesting gameplay and usage of drawing circles as both an attack and a summoning mechanic!

My biggest issue was the controls. With mouse, I have a tendency to move my mouse pointer well ahead of where I want to move, and it often put it out of the window, causing the right click to open a menu overtop of things. Controller would have been the perfect alternative, but for some reason the stick only allowed me to move left and right, so I had to use the D-pad, making it harder to draw actual circles.

As a result, I was unable to get very far; sorry about that! What I saw was very nice though!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Text-Gen Platformer by agentparsec 2018-04-23T02:59:41Z

@Fanttum - RIGHT and LEFT work, but you have to type it as "WALK RIGHT". HELP will list all the commands. @pohead12345 - QUIT doesn't work on the WebGL version since you can't 'quit' a web app.

RTHM by fashionbatman 2018-04-23T08:03:56Z

I enjoy any game that generates its own soundtrack as you play. Well done!

Tetra Dungeon by el-pepi 2018-04-23T07:12:27Z

Very cool concept, seemed easy on the first level but then quickly started becoming trickier and required more strategy. Well done!

Felocity by Adam Wallberg 2018-04-23T02:12:26Z

I like it! The only complaint I have is that it's quite hard to get the guns; either there isn't enough of them, or they're being fired in directions that makes it too difficult to grab. Otherwise, it's good!

Dungeonball by Gurbx 2018-04-24T20:36:50Z

Nice idea and execution. Challenging and fun! The only two things I would fix is that you should have a moment of invulnerability when you get hit (the first time I encountered one of the eyeballs that chase you, it killed me in less than a second), and that the destructible gate still seems to be solid even after it has visually disappeared (if this was intended, just keep the gate graphics until the explosion has stopped and it will clear up any confusion). Good job!

The Place by KRP 2018-04-23T02:50:18Z

Very surreal and well-made, although I don't see how it fits the theme.

Scarry by Memel06 2018-04-23T05:43:01Z

As the maker of the original 'Slender: The Eight Pages', I had to check this out the moment I saw 'Slender-like'. Not bad! I like the concept of using the microphone for additional speed, to help turn fear into survival. Still very difficult to get away though.

Kartonnki by Dumivid 2018-04-23T07:21:02Z

This one would also have fit the last LD theme, "The More You Have, The Worse It Is", as more victories made it harder and harder to keep up with the bombs. Nicely done!

Kartonnki by Dumivid 2018-04-23T07:38:53Z

@Dumivid The theme was tricky to work with, true, but I've never been more excited to play LD entries as I have on this one, just because of all the weird and interesting genre combinations people have come up with.

Rhythm Overdrive by Diblow 2018-04-24T20:50:35Z

Visually impressive, and fun to play. I don't feel like the rhythm aspect of the theme was strongly represented however.

Midnight Thief by Deadly Apps 2018-04-29T04:46:09Z

Type n' Jump by Richard N Silva 2018-04-24T20:04:47Z

I'm lucky I can type so fast, since some parts of this really don't leave you much time to type. Other than that, great job!
