Did I miss something? How do you duck?
I love one button games. Also, the fact that "minimalism" = "minimal effort on graphics" is hilarious! Good job!
@swizzcheez: It starts out a lil slow, but speeds up each wave. There's a framerate display in the bottom right. Target is 60FPS.
@visibleatom: Yep, there are a few bugs! But, the turns are based on grid blocks. And, they're very much seen! =) (The lines). I had a surprisingly difficult time getting collision detection working properly at all in CreateJS. Hence the jam and not the compo entry.
Thanks for your comments!
Zathalos: way to point out the issues while still appreciating what worked and the effort put into it! Great critique/review!
Hey all, thanks for leaving feedback! Yeah, much better AI was what I was working on at the end when I had to cut and publish.
I love how it's randomly generated based on input! I can only imagine so sweet enviro-effects if it had some sounds w it too. Although, I still got a boat. Is that supposed to happen?
CORRECTION: I love how it's "NOT-randomly-generated-but-still" based on input! So, basically, I love it. That is all. You may now return to your regularly schedule gaming.
I love how this combines turn-based with timed in a such a creative way! Great job!
Very cool. I really like how some of them do different things when next to each other as opposed to alone. Makes for a whole different dynamic. Very innovative!
Wow. Very deep. Fantastic job at adding feeling to a game while maintain "minimalism"! Grat job!
Lol, great game! Got REALLY hard REALLY quick though! (Damn those evil circles!)
As soon as I figured out what it was, I stopped playing. Can you explain what you're recording in the db and why?
Very neat! I love the idea. But, I agree, without a 1 Player mode w AI opponent, it makes it hard to play/rate/review. Good job, though!
FYI, the web link is broken. =(
Wow, guys! Thanks so much for all of the wonderful comments! We're all psyched about how it came together too. Definitely going to be finishing this one off in the near future. =)
@Dokthar, sorry. Works in Chrome and there should be no reason not to in FF. Built using CreateJS suite.
@Empyrealhell: Sorry, three sets of controls were all we could handle! Will def keep that in mind if we build it out further.
@AgentParsec: FF, by chance? Someone else reported that as well. I find it very odd, we're not doing anything super fancy here. Straight CreateJS. Sorry!
@Gread72: Yeah, we immediately knew keys for each lane were def required, but kept arrows in for easy go-to, base controls to get started (we were using them in dev and it was functional, but def harder).
Thanks for all the great comments, everyone!
Way to go for creating a Google group to capture LD interest. Great idea! Beautiful game, would love to see it finished!
This is a great start, and while you clearly focused on "art polish", I think you could've spent some of that time on "gameplay polish" and seen a much better return. The gameplay is slightly confusing at first because you run out of ammo right away with nothing else to do but wait to die. And, there doesn't seem to be any end goal/achievement. Again, great job on the art! But some add'l time spent on gameplay could go a LONG way! =)
Yeah, I really liked how you used diff player perspectives. Very creative!
Great approach! Great game!
Web version crashes during loading on MacOS. And OS/X download link can't be found. Sorries!
I couldn't really get a handle of the controls very easily. It was very difficult to see everything that was around the character. But, it looked like it could have been cool!
Nice graphics!
Yeah, Unity player crashes a lot. Way to go on finishing it in 48, though!
I agree, very interesting mechanic, but def too hard.
Love the gameplay, but the controls are kind of difficult. Esp on a trackpad.
Very neat! Can def see this going someplace. But your flow could use a little update; after killing all attackers, I didn't have a chance to collect all the bones before the upgrade screen shows and covers them up.
Fun! But, seriously don't like hte music. I don't thikn it fits at all. Definitely love the use of the pipes mechanic for caves! Are you not supposed to be able to rotate the cave under a gem? And, it'd speed the game up if you could click anywhere the caves are accessible and have the player find his way there without having to go tile by tile. Good job!
Yeah, I couldn't get the hang of the rotation controls. Wasn't able to rotate all the way around to match the colors (which is what I THINK you're supposed to do). Neat, though!
Nice approach! Love the crazy update on pong, which you'd think couldn't be done in any 'new' ways by now. Love it! =)
Worked on my Nexus 5 in Chrome! I was surpised how fun this actually ended up being. I love it! I would strong encourage you to continue to polish it! I think it can be a great game!
Great concept. Prob not quite there yet, though. Good job!
Abs LOVE stealth games. But, yeah, the second guard is simply too hard!
Wow, i love your approach! TBH, though, I would drop the repeat levels before a visual effect from 3 to 2 (at least for the first set). The only I kept going was because I saw other comments about things I hadn't seen yet.
Love it! But, controls are a little too absolute in terms of speed, etc. Very diff to make quick turns so took a couple tries on some paths that required quick turns.
Nice job!
