I have no idea what I just played, but I think I sort of liked it. :D

I have no idea what I just played, but I think I sort of liked it. :D
Really enjoyed it!
Very pretty and it's the first Ludum Dare game I've played for this theme where I actually really liked a character. Well done. :)
A pretty game and the audio is nice, and the game does feel quite tropical, but as you stated in the description the tutorial is quite unstable.
If the tutorial was fixed up, and the game mechanics maybe a little better explained (I got the hang of them after a bit of experimenting) it could be really cool. :)
I quite liked it actually, I liked what APPEARED to be a slow motion effect, but that should have been emphasised a little bit more. :)
A bit more variety in the gameplay might have helped this game really excel. :)
I don't know what to rate you for graphics to be honest. My brain loves them, but at the same time they make my eyes burn.
You have me very conflicted, but overall I like it. :D
At first I thought this game was stupidly hard, but you really do get the hang of it after a little while. I must say I prefered level 1 and level 2 way more than 3.
The multiple firemen was awkward to use, and didn't feel as "heroic", which i think was an awesome part. :D
Well done!
I am actually surprised by how much I liked this. Very clean, well done. :)
Cutest game I have played so far.
So great, and suprisingly fun. Well done. :D
I actually enjoyed this quite a lot regardless of it's major simplicity.
All I could suggest would be to make the title screen a bit prettier next time to make the game more approachable. :)
This is just so strange... But it feels so right.
Well done, I love the audio and I feel like the flashing really does add in getting the adrenaline pumping over such a relativley basic task.
Well done. :)
Absolutley loved it.
I was genuinely surprised by how funny it was. keep up the awesome work. :D
I loved it, found it quite similar to my game, except yours had animations and a cooler art style. Haha. Well done! :D
I adored this game.
It feels good and it looks good, couldn't ask for much more.
Well done!
I really respect you for making a game about a cause that obviously means a lot to you. Well done and keep up the good work.
As far as the actual game goes, I really liked the powers, but it took me awhile to realise they were even apart of the game. Overall, pretty cool. :)
Very awesome second game. :D
There isn't very much too it, but it is pretty well made for what is it. :)
My only downside to it would be how there is basically no change in difficulty throughout the levels, other wise great game! :D
I enjoyed the gameplay, but it certainly could have done with some more variation to make finding the target more difficult, like some other sniper games out there have, but great work in 48 hours. :D
Yeah, I am only getting a pink pig with rotating hearts. Haha. Really cute though, even if it is unrelated. :P
Great concept and such a strange yet wonderful idea. Well done. :)
I like the concept and the tone of the game, althought the graphics could have been a little more appealing, even if you were going for the monotonous feel. :)
@Ditto, My answer to him getting stuck in walls (A problem to which I never REALLY looked for a solution due to time constraints) was that he was a great rock climber. ;)
Also, thanks for all the great responses everyone!
@yosh, You will have to pass all the levels and find out. ;)
Again, thanks everyone for all the great responses! :D
Thanks everyone!
I love that you all enjoyed the humor, I wasn't sure if people would see the funny side, or just be incredibly frustrated. Haha.
Almost quit and walked away before I discovered what I had to do.
So happy I realised. :)
Intense.
Loved the concept and the graphics. It goes without saying but more content would have been awsome. :D
Excellent work. :)
Trust me, that was really good for a first time. :)
One of the more innovative games I have played so far, plus it was pretty funny, well done. :)
I actually think it's a really cool concept, but it started bugging out after I finished the firs level, because it wanted me to add a new line piece from the finish line of the other level. So I completed the other two levels in just two clicks. :P
I enjoyed this WAY more than I thought I would. Love it, excellent work. :)
Love the graphics and sound. :D
A few little gameplay bugs though, like sometimes all the blocks of a certain color vanish, and it tends to be slow to recognise when you have paired them, making it hard to beat the impending doom approaching. :P
Great game and concept.
Very difficcult, but you get the hang of it over time.
I had a little bit of a problem figuring out how high some platforms were in relation to each other, other than that, excellent work in 48 hours!
Well done!
I love the idea, but I personally became so frustratingly confused. Haha.
Really cool though. :D
Seriously love it, very unique. :D
That was so sad. :(
And after reading the comments I am even sadder that I must have given up a bit earlier than I should have. :(
Regardless, excellent audio and a fantastic experience. Well done.
This is a pretty cool little game. :)
Very neat and clean graphics.
All this needs now is a larger variety in turrets/enemies, and it would be an incredibly addicting game. :)
Well done.
Our games actually have very similar concepts, although executed in a very different way.
It's nice to see that kind of thing.
Well done.
Is the game... this page. Woah.
That was a whole new level of creepy. :P
Pretty addictive, my main advice would be to make the menus a bit prettier and maybe some actual sprites for the things in the water. :)
Seems to be a very hard game, but quite cool.
My main suggestion would be to have a little thing in the corner saying "Press Escape for Upgrades" or something along those lines.
Because many people (like me) will completely overlook the help document on their first play. :)
Really cool concept.
It's incredibly sensitive though, and maybe the "charge bar" could be a little bit more prominent. :)
Well done though. :)
Very nice, the graphics were great, and the gameplay was pretty fun, although the audio was pretty annoying pretty quickly.
Well done!
Thanks for all the comments so far guys, keep them coming. :D
jrap, Thank you especially. I have never felt better as a game developer then when I read your comment.
Also in regards to the audio sounding too "digital" which I agree with, my original intention was to make it cause the player to start feeling panicked, which only seems clear towards the end.
Anyway, again, thank you everyone for your feedback, please keep it coming, I love it. :)
b222ster, does the Linux download not work? :(
Veyr interesting concept.
A little more content wouldn't have hurt, but regardless, well done. :)
Just so you know, that isn't quite how the web version for Unity works.
You actually need to host it on a site. For example if you go to GameJolt or Kongregate, and upload that same file there, it should work. :)
Some kind of height score would have made this much more addicting, good work though. :)
Very interesting concept, I sort of misunderstood your instructions, and at first thought the teleporting was random, but I eventually realised how it works. :P
Neat puzzle game. :)
Although, like most puzzle games in the LD, more levels would have been nice. :)
Wow that was really hard. :P
I think it might have been easier if the camera came with the player or something like that.
But really innovative!
I quite enjoyed it. :D
My only advice would be to maybe be spawning some more stuff early in, because for me atleast, it seemed to slow at the start. :)
Well done. :D
Enjoyed it quite a lot, well done. :)
Fantastic game with cute graphics.
Although the audio when dying, which I did a lot of, is very... "In your face". :P
I would almost describe it as scary. :P
Very cute little game, well done. :)
I did find a bug where I managed to get stuck in the third puddle at the start, and couldn't get out, but I was unable to replicate it.
Otherwise excellent game, well done. :)
Really unique and cool idea.
Very well executed.
Hahahaha, That song at the end, well done. :D
I also like the explosion sound effect, it was all pretty cool. :D
Music was cool, and I like the art style, although the jumping distance just didn't feel right, which makes the game incredibly hard.
I pretty much kept playing for the music. :D
There were a couple of times where it seemed like I had to fall to my death though, I am not sure if I just couldnt see the blocks at the bottom or not though.
Otherwise great game with cool music and nice graphics.
If there were more reason to be doing it (objectives/ acheivements) I might have been sitting there for hours. Very pretty.
Really really cool. :D
I love when the whole sheet is so destroyed, it becomes chaos! :P
This would be really cool on a touch device. :D
I found it impossible to keep two places alive with a mouse. :)
"you just need to fist things with truth" could be the weirdest phrase I have ever read. :P
But unfortunately it didnt work for me, I got the error:
"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)."
Really enjoyable game, when you get the hang of the mechanic it's really good. :)
I quite liked the audio as well, well done. :)
Cool game, very nice work for such a short time-span. :D
I'd love to see an expanded version.
Thanks for the feedback everyone. :D
I believe I fixed the mouse issues, they were simply a bug.
If anyone still had issues with the sensitivity feeling really off, please tell me in the comments.
Thanks so much everyone!
I noticed a lot of people are still having issues with mouse sensitivity and things like that, and unfortunately I feel like I have tweaked it as much as I can without actually rewriting code, which I don't want to do as it isn't really in the spirit of the Jam. :)
The current version works fine for me, but as I said, a lot of other people are seeming to have trouble with it.
MaesK, in regards to the bug with executives, I have absolutley no idea why that happened, it shouldn't have. Hahaha.
But I'll look into it, thanks. :D
I got up to level 3, but like everyone else says, it just gets way too hard. :P
Really fun game though, I love the concept. :)
A really fun little puzzle game, as you say in the description, the tutorial levels could do with some work, but overall a cool little mechanic and an enjoyable game, well done. :)
So, assuming the only objective was to draw on the planet until I died, it was rpetty fun. :)
Possibly a slightly more meaningful objective would have been handy, but regardless I absolutely loved the soundtrack. :D
At first I was really excited, but I was a little bit sad when I realised there wasn't as much exploration as I expected.
This could potentially be the next cookie clicker though if your work on it a bit more. :D
Keep up the good work, and well done. :)
By far the best puzzle game I have played in LD30 so far.
If this had a graphical overhaul and some extra mechanics I could see this going a long way, well done! :D
Is the real life stock market this easy? Because damn I need to get me some stocks. :D
But seriously, its actually quite fun, I enjoyed it. :D
Pretty fun, good effort for your first ever LD. :D
This is actually a really fun little physics game, but as a few other people ahve said, the objective could definitely be made a lot clearer, well done. :D
A fun little game, but yeah, not much to it. :P
Good for an hours work though. :P
I don't quite know what I just played, and any extra controls apart from left to right movement was lost on me. :P
Pretty art though. :)
I think this is my favorite game of the LD so far, and I simply can not for the life of me win. :P
Excellent work, well done.
Really awesome unique game. :D
It could definitely do with some more content, but I love the idea. :D
Very fun little game. :D
I would totally get behind a bigger version of this, well done. :D
Really cool concept and very well executed. :)
Like all game jams, a bit more content would have been awesome, but can't do much about that. :D
Well done. :D
When you say the mouse moves a bit slow, do you mean the in-game computer mouse, or the overall sensitivity? (Can the next person with that issue clarify for me) :)
And thanks for all the feedback guys. :D
Really enjoyed it, best take on the theme so far. :D
Very well done. :D
Really fun game. :D
As other have said, the flipping is an issue, and also the weights dangle way too unpredictably. If they were stuck to the roof, or attacthed by a rope, that would help get a feel for it a lot more. :D
But very well done. :D
Beautiful game, very pretty with nice audio and very clean and tidy gameplay.
Get this on to the App Store asap. ;)
Neat idea, could definitely use with some work on the layout, making certain parts of the game clearer to the player, like the "CLICK, CLICK, CLICK" box.
Also, for one of these kind of games, the audio is wayyyy to repetitive. These games are meant to get you hooked for hours, and with that music, its hard to stay. :)
But still great work, I muted the music and played for half an hour. Hahaha
Hey, really cool concept. :D
My main issue was that making it right click to "Run" wasn't a good idea, as it opens up a pop-up menu within Unity on the web version.
But yeah, very cool idea. :D
I get where you were going with it, but the idea of "Not being the hero" could have been fleshed out a fair bit more though.
Although I do like the character art. :)
I got up to level 8 and rage quitted. :P
Good use of the checkpoints, they kept me in the game for another 10 minutes after I hit level 5. :D
Overall, very clean and crisp platformer, well done. :D
Pretty cool take on the theme. I know you mentioned that you didn't want this theme, but you definitely made the most of it. Notes: I would recommend trying to put the Tips section, inside the actual game. I know that's often hard in game jams, but it means you don't have to rely on the play reading a big wall of text outside of the game, before playing. Bugs: I did seem to run into a bug when I first started the game. The countdown began, but the blocks started coming at me straight away, before the counter hit 0. It didn't happen again, just on the very first run.
Overall, well done! Keep up the great work. :)
This game definitely requires a tutorial, but when I figured it out I thought the core mechanic and concept was pretty cool. :D I would love to see this game with a new UI and maybe a little more gameplay around it, but it was pretty cool overall. Well done, keep it up. :D
As someone who has played Super Hexagon (a lot), I was immediately drawn to this. I really enjoyed it, however as @sn4pi said, it was incredibly hard without being able to even touch the sides of the obstacles. The music was fantastic imo, and I was very impressed with the leaderboard. Did you implement the leaderboard backend as well, with a personal server? Or was it hosted for you? I am very curious because I am keen to try this for my next game jam. Well done, keep up the great work. :D
First of all, I absolutely loved the audio! It was great, it really pulled together the mood of the game. Secondly, the writing was pretty funny, and to the point. Obviously with any of these games more would be better, but what you had was great. Well done, keep up the great work. :D
Very cute game with nice UI (except the window should close when I select the flower). I like the audio and the visuals are very nice. Very calming and relaxing game. Well done, keep it up. :D
Fantastic game, well done. The graphics and audio were on point, and the gameplay itself was fun. The only thing I would suggest for this would be the ability to take more upgrades. You should let the player push things to the very limit with their health. But very nice work, keep it up. :D
Thanks everyone for all the feedback so far! :D
Thanks for the feedback! :D @egawag and @jkazuk, if you are interested my best score, after trying lots of different routes, is 416.84. :D And yeah, the overspending is there to to add that little more difficulty to getting the perfect run. :)
Thanks for all the new feedback everyone! :D @wtg let me know what your best score is, I am keen to know. :D I am definitely gonna work on this game more, and try and do a proper leaderboard so don't forget to follow it on GameJolt for more updates. :)
Thanks @ursagames , loved watching you play! :D It was cool seeing your run evolve over time, but fun fact, you can actually finish the whole game without paying for a speed boost. ;) Its how I got my ~415 score haha. Also thanks for pointing out that bug where not only did your corpse collect a 90, but it hit the finish line hahaha. But 283 was a very good score. :D
Thank you so much @geckoo1337 . I will be working on a full version so give it (and me!) a follow on GameJolt if you want to keep an eye out. :D
And I am definitely give dreamlo a shot, thanks so much again! :)
@nonimad 287 is a very good score, well done. :D And thank you for the kind words, I definitely want to ease players into the pain in a full version. haha.
@drskort I am glad you enjoyed it, and started getting a tactical haha. Thank you so much. :D
If either of you want to follow it into the future, follow it (or me) on GameJolt. :D Thanks again! :D
Hey I really enjoyed this! I beat every level (including the "unbeatable" level, which took about 10 minutes haha) and had a lot of fun.
Fun: Very enjoyable. I may have played it for a scary amount of time if there were more levels and mechanics. Innovation: Not a specifically innovative concept, there are lot of games that have done "get X to the end", but you did it very well, and within a very unique setting. Theme: You ARE currency, nice use of the theme. :D Graphics: They got the job done? Haha. The effect on the blackhole was nice, and all the art did it's job at clearly specifying what everything is. Audio: I cracked up laughing the first time I heard each sound effect, they were very good.
Bugs: Only one I noticed, if you do beat the unbeatable level you just get left with a blank level, this should probably return to the main menu.
Notes: Only one quality of life thing that would have been nice, would have been to be able to see the coin that was going to drop on screen. This would allow you to better tell how big certain gaps need to be for the coin.
Overall, well done! Great work, keep it up. :D
Haha, what a game. I got a good little chuckle out of Abraham Lincoin haha. Quite a short game, and it was quite hard to gauge the lollipops hit box, but otherwise quite fun. Keep up the good work. :D
I made it to level 24, and I'm not gonna lie, it was getting stressful haha. Overall it was a very simple, yet quite fun and addictive. The sound effects were very satisfying, and fed into the addictiveness I think. In the future adding a bit of visual flair will go a long way to drastically improve simple games like this. Overall, well done, and keep up the great work! :D
Very cool game, at first I was a bit iffy, but when I realised it had a shop it made everything a lot more interesting. :) My only suggestion (other than more enemies, upgrades etc...) would be to make a custom cursor for in game. I noticed you had one in the main menu, but no in-game, and it would have helped me keep track of where my cursor went a lot easier. Otherwise, well done, keep up the great work. :D
I really enjoyed this. Very pretty game, and very well written as well. Keep up the great work, well done. :D
Very nice game, well done. The art and animation is beautiful. The gameplay could have a little more complexity to keep it interesting, but otherwise awesome work. Keep it up. :D
Fun game, could definitely do with a little more complexity to keep it interesting. I also ran into a bug where the pig got stuck on the bottom wall. Otherwise though, good entry, well done and keep up the good work. :D
Very cool game. I don't know if i'd say I had "fun" but I definitely appreciated the art style, it's a gorgeous game, especially for a game jam. Very eerie mood and neat little experience. Well done, keep up the good work. :D
Quite a fun take on Space Invaders. Something that would help alot with a game like this is a scoring system. :) Overall quite fun though, well done. Keep up the good work. :D
Well done! Very pretty and quite fun. Overall a real quality entry (especially for your first game jam!?). Also the UI is nice and minimalist as well. My only major feedback is to make that first dialog skippable, as it interrupts the games flow if you are trying to speed run it and get a good time. But well done, keep it up. :D
What an intense experience. I really enjoyed the overall "getting stuck in a monotonous routine" theme of the game, with it's introspective look at society. However, as far as the gameplay goes, there wasn't really much to do. I also had no idea what the "goal" was. I hit 100 coins and died abruptly (I assume 100 of anything is the end?). The graphics were very pretty, and the overall build up of everything feels very nice, but the gameplay could have done with a bit more complexity to pull the whole experience together. Well done! Keep up the great work. :D
The concept is very cool, although it's quite difficult to follow. Sometimes the text overlaps, and sometimes the options seem completely irrelevant to the choice. There may be some part of it I'm just not getting. I also feel like this mode of story telling could be incredible with different little tidbits of text appearing, or the background and text changing color. Well done, keep it up. :)
This is such a funny idea for a game, I'm jealous I didn't think of it. Not gonna lie, I didn't make it to the ocean but I gave it a fair few cracks, those snakes are just too quick haha. Well done, keep up the amazing work.
This is a genuinely fun game, you've done really well. Only suggestions I've got would be with the game speed. The gameplay itself is SO much fun, but waiting for the pieces to move and the dice to roll can be a bit tedious.
However I love this idea so much, I might make a physical version for me and my friends to play! Keep up the great work!
@bobost2 Yeah not adding a keyboard and mouse was a bit of an oversight, but I also didn't want the player thinking they had to interact with them in anyway. And yeah there are a couple of bugs I know about with the way I handlded the music, unfortunately didn't have time to sort them out.
@miklo Thank you so much. Yeah I did make the game so you it doesn't COMPLETELY hand you everything, which may have been an oversight considering how boring actually collecting coins is. (But Ausstein is right, you did miss the best bit haha).
@ausstein Thank you so much for enjoying it! I was very tempted to make those emails also open, decided I would do it if I had time at then end (which I didn't haha. I only managed to finish the actual story like, 5 hours before deadline).
@bobost2 @miklo @ausstein @vivek-sharma20 I have just realised there is a major issue. If the game was played in the web build, there is no video (the game has video in it).
I would love if you could play it again downloaded, if you didn't beforehand. My apoligies for this, thank you.
@inflamedgums thank you so much, I'm glad you liked the CEO videos I spent more time than I'd like to admit working out how to them (so I was devestated when I realised the web build didn't contain them).
@ausstein thanks for playing it again, that means a lot, I'm glad you liked them. :D
I am incredibly heart-broken to discover John Conway has passed away. The Game Of Life was one of the first things I made in Unity. RIP.
As some other people have mentioned, more help in-game understanding what was going on would be helpful, but otherwise very cool concept and quite fun. Keep up the great work.
Very nice game, reminded me of some old school games I used to love as a kid. I loved the art style. Only recommendation would have been if the game could get harder and harder (maybe more enemies). I only got to 30, but that's because I kept getting impatient, however I feel without the changing in speed I could do it for ages if I really wanted to.
Overall though, great game, well done! :D
I love the idea of a roguelike with a companion. Well done, keep up the great work. :D
A fun little Crossy Road clone. I don't know if you intended for God Mode to be available, but it's available without being able to afford it, in this build.
My only suggestion for the future would be to make really repetitive noises (like the mouse squeak) have a couple of variations, just so it doesn't sound as reptitive.
All round though, very well done! Kepp up the great work.
Gorgeous game, even if you didn't make the assets you definitely used them well. I loved seeing the forest slowly emerging right in front of my eyes. I really enjoyed the gameplay, it felt like a Tower Defense crossed with an Idle Clicker. Some atompsheric music would have added a lot, and I also would have loved to see how the upgrades actually effected stats (damage/health etc) because it was impossible to know what the right decisions are later into the game. :)
Overall, amazing job, keep up the great work.
This game is phonemonal. The art is absolute incredible, amazing job. The gameplay itself is hilarious, I was immedaitely overwhelemed and anxious, but a mixture of the cute art and calming music kept me playing. :D
My only feedback (and I mean it, because as far as game jam's go this is pretty perfect) is that the end of the game didn't really give me any feedback on how well I did. The cat was sad, but I wasn't sure why, or if it actually had anything to do with my performance.
Overall though amazing job, I hope to see more from this team in the future. :D
Very fun, and cool concept. :) I got 20 on my first try and 31 on my second try. My only suggestion would be that it would have been great if it popped up with what I had to do for each patient, because it's hard to remember. So if I picked up a yellow patient it would say "DRIVE SAFE" or something like that.
Anyway, well done, and keep up the great work. :D
Very good job on the level design. I wish you committed to the "horror" aspect a little bit more (although I wouldn't have been able to play it if there was a jump scare) but this has fantastic creepy-pasta slenderman type vibes. Some audio would have also added a lot to the mood, and creepiness. Overall though well done, keep up the amazing work.
The stealth movement system was really cool, I would love to see a similar system in a full game. I think I would have really enjoyed the card system, but I forgot what colors beat which other colors, and it wasn't obvious in-game. So some more in-game tips about the rules of the card game would have been very helpful. Also more visual information like numbers on the health bar, and debuffs (so you can see how long they're stunned for, etc..)
Otherwise very well done! Keep up the amazing work.
Fun little top down shooter. I'd recommend putting the "how to play" as a mandatory screen once the player clicks play. Most players tend not to read those unless they're forced to, or unless they've already died because they didn't know how to play haha. I also agree with some of the other comments about the pacing, the speed could have been picked up a bit to make it more action packed.
Overall though, very well done, keep up the great work. :D
Very nice art style, I really like it. :) Main thing the game needed IMO is some kind of failure state (unless there was one and I was just too good?).
Overall though, quite fun. Keep up the great work! :D
I didn't rate the game, because when I launched it everything was fine, but when I press "New Game" it loads, but then I only get a black screen. I hear about 0.5 seconds of music, and I can move the mouse but it's locked to the centre of the screen.
No one else seems to be having any issues but I thought I'd let you know. :) I'm running Windows 10, on a pretty decent machine. I tried restarting, changing resolution and changing the window mode, but nothing worked.
But by the sounds of the other comments you did a great job, so keep up the good work. :)
Really impressive entry for a compo game. It felt pretty good, and the in-game way of describing the controls is also a really nice touch.
I could see a more fleshed out version of this being a really fun full game!
Excellent work! An interesting twist on the classic puzzle platformer. It made me realising how patient seeing-eye dogs are, because I was yelling at the old man from level 2 onwards haha.
I didn't realise how the stretch worked at first (I kept tapping it, and being confused when nothing really happened). So maybe say L (Hold) or something like that instead.
Overall, great entry, keep up the amazing work. :)
Overall, great submission! I personally struggled to memorise the spells well, i think largely because of the "light blue" vs "dark blue". It's definitely a skill issue, but I think having 5 more distinct colors would make it much easier to pick up and go.
I loved the art style, it was very well done, and I really appreciated the instructive UI (most game jam games completely overlook explaining how to play the game haha).
Great job, and keep up the amazing work!
Great work! As some others have said, juicier feedback on the "hits" would have made a huge difference. Honestly it was the main thing seperating this from any other "Vampire Survivors"-like game.
Overall great work, keep it up! :)
@alxje Thanks for the support! Yeah GameJolt is being a bit weird, I have uploaded it to Itch.Io as well!
I will be sure to play your game and leave some feedback over the next couple of days :)
@alxje hmm that's a bit scary. When you say it doesn't run properly, exactly whats happening?
Regardless, I added a Windows Build as well. It's untested but should be fine (except there is no quit button, because it was designed for web build only haha)
@alxje, alright, I came to the conclusion the webbuild just can't reliably perform as needed. So I have removed it, now it's Windows Build only.
Thank you!
@tinykidtoo Thanks for the feedback! Do you recall when the red/green overlap began? And yes thanks to you I realised there is an issue stopping the player from reaching the ending. I will release a hotfix update for that shortly. Thanks!
@patrick-pang thank you for the high praise, I really appreciate it! I often try to make games with voice acting, and not having subtitles is always my biggest disappointment in my voice acted game jam games. I think because you are technically allowed to bring existing codebases into the jam now, I think I will create a subtitle system outside of the game jam so I can help make the game more accessible (without losing hours in the game jam itself).
@usenrame @zagony2613 @fenix131113 @johnkoop @ekkiiiii @alexis-brochec Thank you all for your amazing feedback, I really appreciate you taking the time to play my game!
@fabula-rasa thank you for the nice comments! I came up with the idea of the restart skipping the intro/orientation, after having to hear my own voice thousands of times in a row haha.
I love this take on Auto-Battlers, and could really see this concept transforming into a full release game! In all honesty, the complexity went a bit over my head, but this is the type of game I could see myself wanting to master if it was a full game. I think a little more handholding on what the ingredients do (atleast some solid hints) would have made this much easier to pick up quickly.
I like the gritty art style, and the audio was quite well done.
Overall great work, keep it up! :D
Overall its a well polished game! My only wish is that it got faster/harder. I think it would really benefit from a snappier gameplay loop where a level only lasts like 1-2 minutes, but it gets much faster and harder, earlier.
But overall amazing work, it was quite cute art and the music was nice.
I think the idea of making a series of mini games for a game jam is a great way of learning how to scope! (Trial by fire haha).
I think the major thing that the game would benefit from is a slightly more thorough "How to play" at the beginning of each mini-game. That's something thats commonly overlooked for game jam games, and makes a big difference.
Also in the games with very repetitive sound effects (particularly the alien defense one), a good way to avoid the SFX being so jarring is to have a pool of like 4 SFX it can pick from (or just pitch shift the audio for every shot also works, or both!).
Overall great work, keep it up!
Alright get this bad boy on mobile and you've got yourself a succesfull game haha, well done!
It was a lot of fun, the leaderboard is a great touch to get people like me addicted. As others have said, it's a very very tough game, Obviously there is a lot of skill involved, but it does also feel like your "run" is largely RNG based.
Overall though amazing work. Loved the art, the game design, the controls, everything felt great.
Fun typing-test style game (although after all the programming I did on the weekend it almost scared me a bit at first haha).
One recommendation would be some small SFX. Just really basic effects like a sound for typing, success/fail, cat meow etc would add a lot to this game.
overall great work, well done!
First of all, great work! I love seeing a game jam game that properly sets the scene and explains how it works in-game. It might have been nice if I had a second to read the rules before each minigame started though haha.
As others have said, it's very hard (but I think thats a good thing. Much funner than if it was too easy).
I love the hand drawn pixel art style its very fitting.
I think the SFX can get a little annoying, but I understand in compo you gotta do what you gotta do haha.
I also think the first minigame would have benfitted from a 10 second window where you can try to sort them without more coming in, because it's very easy to get screwed in the last few seconds by basically RNG.
Overall great entry, keep up the amazing work!
I've never played Pikmin, but this is what I assume it's like haha.
Great work! I really like the visuals and the audio. The flocking also feels really nice. The core mechanic is really cool and I would love to see a full game fleshed out with it.
Keep up the great work!
Best game so far. I restarted like 10 times before even getting close to the end because I kept discovering more about how everything interacts, and what's powerful and when.
I ended up beating it with 30 summons left which I am pretty proud of.
Great sound design, great visuals, great game design, just truly stunning work. This would be a great game if you told me it took the team 4 weeks, let alone 72 hours.
Best game I've played so far, well done.
@nomus damn, I absolutely love how whacky this game looks when it's played well haha
Best I could do after a few goes was 1020, overall great game! The animations felt punchy, the SFX and audio choices were very fitting. The vehicles added a nice bit of tension to the game, although I think the jump should cancel the long punch just a touch quicker, because sometimes it feels like its actually impossible to jump quickly enough when the car is on screen (but also, skill issue haha).
The art and animation (and UI!) is probably one of the cleanest and nicest overall i've seen all game jam.
Great work, keep it up!
Great work! Suprisingly tough little puzzle game. I got stuck on level (I think it was 4 or 5). I agree with the comment above that some kind of grid design in the background would help with the readability and "planning", from the players perspective.
Keep up the great work.
Very cool! It feels really good flinging yourself and cubes all around the map. I did (I think) soft lock myself on the first level by flinging the little cube up to the top area, out of my view though haha. Maybe a level restart button would help with that.
Otherwise great work, well done.
@alxje ah my bad, I must have missed that!
This is the kind of game I could get really addicted to!
From a design perspective, you nailed it. This is the kind of game I would buy a prettier version of for $9.99 on Steam any day. (Although I do love how cute the art is, for a game jam!)
My feedback is mostly around the controls. I think hovering over the creature should show you what they do, and instead of: - click to select, click to move You could have just: - Click and drag. I think that would have made the controls significantly more intuitive.
Overall amazing work, keep it up!
Damn what a vibe, very soothing, and a nice little experience. My only feedback is that it would be nice if a bit of the musical arrangement was tied to when the words got placed (not just completed, but when each word got placed). Sort of like how Tetris Effect does it (very hard in the scope of a game jam though obviously!).
Overall great work, keep it up! :)
Really fun game! I think it could do with being a bit harder (but I play lots of these "survive 20 minute bullet hell" type games.
I loved all the animal models, and the way you summoned them (brought me back to playing Invoker in Dota 2).
I think the game could have benefited from being faster paced, and giving the player more to do in the meantime (for example, more pickups, even if they are weaker overall to help balance).
Overall, fanstastic work, keep it up! :D
Really cool idea! I felt like I actually had to sound out the pattern in my brain to remember. I am sitting in my room going "Aaaaaa, Fffff, Sss, Ddd, hhhhhhh" haha. I do think a little more information on how the scoring works would be great (Does the length of each note matter? I assume so but its hard to know how close I was after the fact).
Overall great entry! Keep it up.
As someone with a fair few hours in Blood Bowl 2, I really like the more casual "Auto Chess" approach, and I think a more fleshed out and balanced version could be something truly amazing.
As others have said, speeding the game up a bit (or atleast adding the option) would be a great idea if you go on to continue working on it.
Overall great work, keep it up!
Immediately the game reminded me of a magical fantasy version of Doodle Jump haha.
I love the concept of a vertical platforming/rouge-like, I think it could be an amazing game.
Similar to a lot of the other reviews, the UI scaling was problematic, the controls were cut-off for me on a 1920x1080 fullscreen.
I also think the movement was way too fast and loose for a game with such tight areas. Either slower more precise movement, or a larger play area, would have felt much better I think.
Overall great work though! Keep it up!
Very pretty graphics I am in love with the style. Well done. :D
I really enjoyed this. Very pretty and the feels out of no where as well. I don't think I would say turn-based/puzzle are two incompatible genres, but a great game came out of it, so well done. Keep it up. :D
Quite a cool idea. I could see this being a real fun full game if it was expanded on. Well done. :D
Stunningly beautiful, I loved the surrealist art style. I found that I often died to an enemy I never saw so maybe some SFX to notify me of nearby enemies would have been nice. Overall really liked the concept though, well done. :D
Fantastic game and a fantastic concept. That last wave is super hard. Haha. I loved pretty much everything about it, well done. :D
Quite fun and challenging. I had a good bit of fun with this, however I found it hard to slide down a 1 gap hole, you have to get it JUST right. Regardless very nice work, keep it up. :D
Genuinely one of the coolest concepts I have seen so far. I think what would have made it perfect is a running count of what each block works out to be. I know that would simplify the game a lot but it would also make it play more like Tetris as far as the difficulty goes. Otherwise super cool idea, you should definitely release a polished version on mobile and market it as a math game. Well done. :D
Very nice. Played really smooth and quite challenging. Although I don't see what the incompatible genres are. :P Regardless, nice work and nice work with the audio/sfx, it sounds pretty good.
I knew my years of Rocket League training would pay off. :) Very nice game, the controls felt relatively good, and I am sure with more levels to practice with would become masterable. :D
Love it, please continue working on it. The gameplay is super fun and the "Mouse Look" option made it even better again. Well done, keep up the great work.
Hey, good job. :) My main advice would be two parts. First, it's always good to put the instructions in the game somewhere, because most people I would wager don't actually read the full description before playing. Second, In a game as "Arcade-y" as this, it's probably a good idea to make up some kind of scoring system which is shown as the player plays. As it is I didn't feel much motivation to keep playing. Nice job though, keep it up. :D
To be honest I absolutely love this. Awesome use of the theme and it plays really smooth. It was definitely too easy but we all know how hard balancing in a game jam is. Would love to see a more in-depth version of this. Keep up the good work! :D
I love the animation, and I think I liked the way the ball behaves when sprinting. Although I did find it very punishing (But I guess it is a survival game, :P ) Nice Graphics and fog of war. I've never played a soccer game that rewards me for going slow and steady. Nice work. :D
Brilliant combination of two of the greatest arcade games ever made. I have noticed lots of people wanted to mix Tetris with other games this game jam, but none have done it with the elegance and polish of this game. Well done.
First of all, congrats on making a game for the Ludum Dare! I wish I was this good at your age. :D As far as feedback goes, I would suggest putting the controls in the game so that players can find them easily. Also, like ketura said, try and highlight where the player needs to try and get to, or what their goal is as well. Otherwise fantastic work, I can't wait to see what you manage to do next time, and most importantly, keep making games! :D
Very cute game. I would have loved to see a story evolve. :) This would be the great basis for an interactive story telling game. Fantastic work, well done.
Quite a fun game when I realised how the game mechanics worked properly. I feel like it was well balanced. American Football/Hotline Miami isn't something I expected to play this game jam. Haha Only feedback would have been to have a level/game restart so I can quickly restart. Whenever I got caught my fastest option was to close and reopen the game. Took me 6 or 7 tries to get a perfect game, which i think is just the right level of difficulty for a game like this in a game jam. Fantastic work and keep it up. :D
I love the art style, you should have removed damage from it so I can watch this train for hours. Something is really soothing about it. Nice work, but it is a shame I couldn't interact because I can FEEL how fun it would have been. Haha, but good job guys.
Very neat concept and relatively well executed. The enemies spawning in front of me felt a bit awkward as it basically just melts me without really getting a fighting chance. Good job though, keep it up. :)
Fantastic strategy game! At first I thought it was going to be a bit gimicky, but when the numpad controls started to feel natural it became really fun. I would love to see a more fleshed out version. Well done. :D
