That's a pretty cool game loop! I found it easier to bump up the strength every single time and just git gud at the battle world, though. :sweat_smile: Overall good entry!

I also just started buffing attack only, but in first 3 waves I also buffex max hp + healed, just in case for the later levels.
Loved it! Would probably enjoy it a bit more if buffs remained, at least partially, for next waves. This way I would at least balance them and not just always get +2 damage flat.
Still, was fun enough to play 3-4 runs. Wonky and addictive!
Really fun art style here! I suppose the aesthetic is somewhat inspired by animal crossing? It looks very well executed. The bouncing duck sounds are fun and the music tempo change between worlds is a nice touch too!
Super fun game
the game is fun, but I can't rate your game for some reason, what's going on...

Vety cool game!
It is a very unusual and atmospheric game, the visual is quite interesting, it looks stylish and funny! Good luck with your project, I would have played it more than once!!!
@usenrame thanks for the heads up, ratings are enabled now. it is our first ludum dare jam and apparently we had forgotten to enable them.
Your game had me laughing so hard, I've got the giggle abs! Great job, my friend – you've got the humor game on lock!
Great game! I love the art style, and the audio. The slow down when in "hell" is amazing. I think a little more variety in the combat would have been the icing on the cake, but overall it's a great game!
Well done, keep up the amazing work.
This is strangely relaxing lol. The grind, it truly never ends ;(. Music is pretty on point
_Upgrades by day, rubber duck destruction by night_
Love the concept! A great twist on the Summoning theme.
I don't have any major issue with the game itself (except for the fact that I'm bad at it) but I do have a few suggestions.
1. Upgrade permanence: Make all upgrades permanent. This justifies spending time on them, knowing that they will benefit in the long run.
2. Add perma-transactables: To keep the spirit of temporary upgrades, add some form of reward for killing enemies (simplest being coins, or thematically, souls). These rewards should be transactable to get consumable upgrades, like a speed or strength potion. This is the equivalent of temporary upgrades to speed or strength.
3. Mouse compatibility: Make attack and interactions mouse compatible. E.g. if I click LMB then I can attack an enemy.
4. Hypercasuality: Hypercasual games are easy to play mobile games with usually only 1 or 2 major game mechanics. This game feels very much like a hypercasual game, so maybe lean into that? Add touchscreen compatibility for movement and interaction, add a main menu, etc.
Overall, this has been a blast to play. I'd really like to play it if you decide to publish it for mobile.
Well done! The art assets felt cohesive and the game loop where there. It's not easy to have a game jam game without something obviously unfinished or not fitting together. I would have preferred the attack on another button, maybe mouse click or enter. It felt a bit weird only using my left hand. Also I think it would have been nice to save the buffs between days (and maybe scale the ducks as well if you want to keep the balance). But then again, maybe you were going for groundhog day, hamster wheel of working life - and then the reset every morning make sense. Anyways, cool game, and good on you for joining the jam!
Nice game! Nice and simple gameplay loop, though as others said I would like to see some permanence to upgrades. Didn't understood speed upgrade at all, as I was just bonking enemies out of existence with maxed out strength (managed to get around 4.4x with some button spam), except for the boss. I found it strange that you character doesn't really point at the enemies all the times, left me helpless several times.
Very cool game! Nice 3d art and audio, interesting gameplay.
@0x0961h Haha that's what my brother did on his first gameplay! Thanks!
@nozomu57 I agree, it'd definitely better if there was a relation between temporary and permanent bonuses. Thanks for great ideas!
@caz-creates-games Animal crossing affected us all :) Thanks!
@letssnack Thanks!
@usenrame Thanks for letting us know, we really appreciate it!
@gnum Thanks!
@kseniya Thanks! @zeminyok did such a great job in such a short time!
@drgcandle We've also giggled a lot while making it. Thanks!
@ohfiddlediddle We'd for sure benefit a lot from more variety in battle, which would've reflect to day phase skills. Thanks!
@benjaminw It really doesn't end my friend :)
@sparkydoc07 I really appreciate the detailed review! Thanks a bunch! 1. On the point. It'd definitely be better if there was some more room to strategize at the day phase 2. Cool idea! 3. Yeah I only thought about it after the jam, would be nice have that option. 4. I can see that working :)
@bjornstenlund Yep it's quite hard to fit all your ideas in a jam, there is always something missing. Scope is a tricky thing to define. :) Agree about the keys, you can use arrow keys also fyi. Thanks for your review!
@apoly Haha yeah going for max speed doesn't really make sense for battle, only for the laughs maybe. I kept it for latter purpose :) It'd probably better if there were diminishing returns for temporary upgrades. Making player always face enemies would be better now that you mention it, sorry if it was frustrating. Thanks for great review!
@bx007 Thanks!
This was so good! The premise was really clever, and you nailed the feeling of the daily grind and not having enough time to do the things you want. Very concise, elegant execution and the various mechanics were cool to explore. Aesthetically, it was one of the best I've seen; unified, great color choices, and cute models. Congratulations on a job well done!
Very cool art! This take on a rouge-like is awesome. It could be better if maybe each wave you get a bit more time to buff up. Other than that incredibly polished game
Nice game, I spent ~15 minutes with it which is pretty good I think! :) It's really polished, though I think it needs some balancing or some changes. As others pointed it out, it would have been nice if there would have been a bit more persistence. I never could reach further than level 7 because at that point the next level started just way too early and I could barely fill my health before it started. And killing giant ducks with basic damage and speed was a bit too tedious. I mean it took way too long, and thus there was a higher chance to mess up my attack and get damaged. Also I think that maybe WASD + Mouse Aim/Attack controls would have been a better fit for this kind of game. Anyway, good entry, cheers! ^^
Took me a second to get the concept, but once I did it was very fun! Thanks for participating!
Love this! The mechanic to level up your character is so cool as the timing forces you to choose your priorities quickly. As others noted, I wish there was a bit more variance in the combat. I often found it hard to dodge and weave the enemies.
Really creative mechanic having to level up between each round in the limited time. The game could always use some more enemy variety but I played more rounds of this than most games I've played and I think that's a good sign!
Something really good here! Great work!
I enjoyed the twist on the theme! The graphics were really neat too! I wish the days had been a bit longer as you get through more work days as the ducks get more difficult to defeat but really well done overall!
This game is awesome, super well done!
Really great game loop and core mechanics, could totally see this becoming an addictive mobile game, or if more complexity is added, a full fledge PC game on it's own!
