Good idea, I found that if I shot an ememy when it was right next to me it would bounce back and hit me again. Perhaps the shoot function should perform more damage as you get hit by most targets even if you shoot early.

@Nerobius thanks for the feedback, yeah balancing was/is pretty hard with this one. Giving too much damage too early with bad rng (not enough monsters spawn) you could runaway with spamming bullet upgrades at the end of a level. Then there's the issue where if there's too many mobs spawning early you can quickly die. It was a fun learning experience regarding balance and I have much work to do. I appreciate your feedback thanks again :)
Love the idea. Imagine if you had to answer questions in real-time while fighting. That would be intense. Just a thought :)
@ZuhairGhias oh man, that'd be hilarious and tough. With a timer and all heh. The possibilities if I had more time would be something interesting.
The concept is what I liked the most I think, very unique. For me personally, a visual queue for when an anemy is hit would have improved it a lot, because sometimes I fell like I am not hitting them. Good game, anyways :ok_hand:
Very neat concept and relatively well executed. The enemies spawning in front of me felt a bit awkward as it basically just melts me without really getting a fighting chance. Good job though, keep it up. :)
A very cool idea! I actually got hooked into playing the game :D Sometimes it was funny when you had question that you didn't have a clue about but the 3 of 4 answers weren't making any sense (things like the question's answers is a number and there's only 1 numeric answer)
All in all very good game! If you continue developing this I'd wish for some sort of background music to give some atmosphere. Also some visual hints when you're hitting enemy etc wouldn't hurt either.
I felt like getting the answers correct wasn't rewarding enough - as there were still so many enemies ahead of me. Took me 3 tries to beat the first level and I didn't get anything wrong, there were just so many enemies ^^ Perhaps make answering the questions destroy all the enemies in front of you for a while and have harder questions. That way if you get it correct you don't really need to shoot too much but if you get them wrong you will have to pull of some magic with the shooting... but anyways yeah good idea :)
@Justin Yeah I didn't have time to improve the answer selection. I wanted to group answers by type so when i randomized them it would select "number type" "place type" "person type" "movie type" etc... just didn't have time. Json file had 180 questions in it. Thanks for the feedback :)
Neat concept! One suggestion is to make the end of level progression have more of an impact on the gameplay
Great idea, I enjoy the efforts. Trivia is not my cup of tea however the shooter elements kept it interesting.
I had a ton of fun with the questions, though there wasn't much interactivity with the shooting, just spam the shit out of the spacebar. I wish I could've messed with some stuff aside from spamming.
Sadly I am not a movie guy so for me it was hard to enjoy the game. My suggestion is or the next game is to go for common sense questions. Congrats on finishing :)
Interesting concept. The mobs became a bit much though and was a bit difficult hitting them right after a question if they are on top of you. lot of the trivia I had no clue
Really cool concept and enjoyed playing this. There was enough questions to pull from that I didn't see any repeats in the play through. Having the correct/incorrect affect things in the game was cool too.
A couple of things I noticed that I wanted to point out * There should be a timer on the trivia question. As it is right now, nothing seemed to prevent me from just alt-tabbing and looking up the answer. * I wasn't sure exactly what upgrading the bullet did. I didn't feel like they were doing more damage, though I was spamming the hell out of the space bar, so that could be why. * If you run into an enemy, when the bounce back, they almost immediately hit you again. Visually it felt confusing seeing it happen, especially when it was a group of them.
Overall i really like this concept. Good work
@ManBeardGames yeah someone suggested I add a timer, I was so close to doing it, but I had to work monday :( it would've been perfect. Yeah upgrading the bullet was +2 dmg from the current value, but it also increased monsters health by 4-5. I wanted to spend money tweaking values, i hope next LDJam I'm more experienced and use my time a little better to get more done.
I'm going to take a look at the bounce back damage, someone else reported that which is a strange bug.
Thanks for the feedback :D
Loved the concept. As a trivia fan, I was super thrilled to play the game. One thing I would have liked is if the mobs had more space to give the player the chance to breathe after answering a trivia question.
I realized I know little about music industry! After every level I just increased health and it got me to lvl 12, so that's pretty cool. Then it got way too difficult, as a lot of little guys were spawned!
I clearly don't know enough to play this game. Didn't seem I could shoot fast enough. Good use of theme.
