Initially was a bit confused about what I was doing with my turns of life but really enjoyed the idea of creating an challenge for yourself based on your current life situation.
The music+mood really matched the overall decision making the game forced on you each successive turn. Would like to see named incidents creep into the turn system but understand that time constraints make that difficult.
Well done
I would say this is a wonderful life simulation, in so far as it is kinda fun, very confusing, and I am not sure if I won or not.
Took me two or three tries to figure out how to actually do anything, but once I did I ended up getting pretty into this.
The big issue is that there aren't clear perceived affordances on anything. I had no way of knowing that I could pick up the cards, and even when I did there was no indication of where I was supposed to drop them. Something as simple as circling the drop area or graying everything else out would have been enough to indicate what I was supposed to do.
I like the two-step choices you have to make: first to unlock the cards, then to change the probabilities. I found myself stopping to strategize about the optimal cards to use at each step. That said, once I figured out the patterns it became a bit too easy to play the game on autopilot.
And I appreciate the philosophical bent to this. Using time and support to unlock trauma is a nice touch, and it was interesting to try the game starting with a lot of cards vs. a little to see the difference in difficulty. Walking a mile in another person's shoes, you know?
This game definitely requires a tutorial, but when I figured it out I thought the core mechanic and concept was pretty cool. :D I would love to see this game with a new UI and maybe a little more gameplay around it, but it was pretty cool overall. Well done, keep it up. :D
I like that you can choose to let life take you where it wants to go.
I love the concept, this is the kind of interpretation of the theme I like best! Overall well presented. The game's great audio makes up for the simple graphics. Maybe make it more interesting by filling in the game events with concrete events? And having a graphic for each? And having more than two events per turn or more complex rules? I totally see a cool card game come out of this.
Great game! Simply but clever! Is a nice idea with a lot of possibilities! Congrats!
Cool game! I like how I can understand how to play through its visuals rather than through only text. I experimented a little on the first couple rounds to see how it all worked. I would recommend a how to play in text form on the game page or this page just so in case other people don't have it click as quick for them. I feel like having text for actual events(pictures could work too) would add more depth to the game. A card could say "car accident" so the player has more context on the things they're trying to avoid. Their cards could have stuff like "got a promotion!" for the money category or something similar. Good job on the game though!
This is really interesting! It took me a bit to figure out how to play, but once I understood it it was really engaging. I like how it starts by asking about your life, even before you have any idea of what the game will be like.
