I really like the idea of typing in the bullets.
this game is sooooooooooooooooooooooo under rated
Stunningly beautiful, I loved the surrealist art style. I found that I often died to an enemy I never saw so maybe some SFX to notify me of nearby enemies would have been nice. Overall really liked the concept though, well done. :D
Cool idea, impressive art.
Great idea, and beautiful graphics. Great job to say the least
The best game of the jam so far! good job!
Definitely the top game for me! Artstyle, graphics and shading, basically everything's top notch. I was waiting for something quite more simple, yet i was rewarded with good game mechanics! Proper job!
Amazing 🔥💯🔥🚒👨🚒👩🚒
Wow this was awesome! I couldn't figure out how to win, though. I defeated everyone (I think)! Everything was great about this. I did have some performance issues (using web) and the mouse wouldn't allow me to turn all the way around (like the edges of my monitor stopped it). Still, I managed to play just fine. The graphics, theming, sfx, all of it was great. SO GOOD.
I would play a full version of this, hell yeah.
@Kamranicus Thanks for the feedback dude! Looks like the last navmesh bake I did just before submission resulted in a painting spawning up on one of the top right ledges in the hall. Rebaked and moved him to a safer spot :)
This was awesome! It looks so good I can't believe it. Way to go.
Wow, one of the best in my opinion. The visuals are stunning, gives me such a Bioshock vibe :O The typewriter gun is just too cool. Good job all around, awesome execution!
The visuals... Just wow! If the two of you created all the assets for this game in 72 hours I am SERIOUSLY impressed! The game looks absolutely stunning! The gameplay is also fun and innovative :) great entry for this theme!
looks stunning, typing games aren't really my thing but this put a nice spin on things! just dont miss. that damned chair jr sneaked up on me from nowhere Great stuff
Great art and music!
Although it was way too difficult for me, I enjoyed the idea.
You should indicate more clearly that the release is a webgl one, for more visibility
Played the game, this is really good ! A bit difficult with another keyboard layout than qwerty.
That was an incredible amount of fun! It took a little bit of getting used to with the reload mechanic, but it was a blast. The only issue I ran into was that sometimes the collisions were a bit off and you can't hit an enemy most of the time if it gets too close. But this game was well executed and incredibly fun to play. I'd pay to see a full version released.
Wonderful! It was a bit hard to type correctly since I'm on an Azerty keyboard (even after switching to Qwerty, I'm not used to have the "M" letter next to the "N"! ^^) but great, great idea and wonderful game overall. Graphics are top notch and the sound is great as well.
Congrats!
Visually amazing and good fun, hugely impressive as it is and even more so considering the time constraints! Hit detection felt a bit off on the paintings and when there was a space in the name, for example shooting out mrschair quickly sometimes only the mrs hit. Also a button to delete all letters at once would be useful in a pinch.
Nice Visuals, Nice idea, nice Game. Good work!
I beat down Sittatron, the chair people should stay down for a while! I had great fun (once i realize the hitbox was the ennemy's head exclusively). I loved that typing sound. You can be proud of your work.
Amazing ! Loved it.
Congrats to the 3d/level artist, and great weapon concept. Some performance issues, but that's obvious in the timeframe.
Probably not by design, but I love how this type of game allow a sort of native "couch coop", one player managing the fps side and another the writing one. You totally could imagine set that as a "2P mode" which only change the difficulty, without touching any controls pattern :)
Bravo !
I love how you force the main mechanic to be understood just to get out of the first room. Loved the mechanic, I think most developers like to think they are good typers, and to combine with FPS was just sublime. The names were quite humorous, ofc the fps elements ended up lacking when you had to turn and run and type in the corner then shoot - but ofc thats the very nature of 2 incompatible genres! music and art were "on point" too!
Very impressive game and it's harder than it looks, which is a nice surprise. The boss didn't give me any damage and just kept pushing me through the scene/walls.
Congrats to the whole team.
Great game. You had me at just the name alone!! The graphics are amazing for being done in such a short amount of time and the music is spot on. It would have been nice for the reload to not entirely block my view, and as I generally type slow, a little more warning before monsters start to pop up. I love the concept though!! feel free to check out our first entry https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/infinite-typer
Great art and level design. Cool mechanic.
Great visuals, good sounds, the environment was really cool too. Had a hard time avoiding enemies and reloading effectively at the same time, would have liked to be able to read names from further away and not have to wait for a letter to visually changeover from white to red before the next shot can register.
This was so much fun the boss was fun to take down. good job. I have nothing bad to say about the game it was really good. If you get a chance I'd love it if you'd check out my game here's the link: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/yum-some
This is one of the most original ideas i've encountered during a Ludum Dare! Leveldesign, graphics and sound were also really great! Solid entry. btw. i am typing really fast right now! :D
I have no words for how amazing this game is. So I will just type 5/5
Awesome game and concept. My first 5/5 game I've rated
really fun idea! some of the art and sounds are beautiful and it feels great! clever way of thinking about the theme as well!
I spent so much time on this game. It was soo good. I hope you go beyond ludum dare with this unique concept and make fully fledged 20+ hour game out of this.
Wow, interesting mechanics, stunning visuals and great music and audio! Amazing entry.
Gaaah this was really cool! Best typing game I've played this LD so far. Really every aspect of this game was excellent. Great job!
That's just a great game. Definitely deserves top marks for the theme, innovation, humor and... most everything else for that matter. Great job guys!
The best I saw so far! :D it's really well polished! props guys!
Very good! The art is amazing, and the mechanics of typing the letter to shoot the evil chairs and fans is unique. Great job!
I played this game on stream last night, here is the VOD:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUsyzGggOpo
Thanks for making this game!
Absolutely amazing idea and game, executed really well. There does seem to be an issue with a hit sometimes not registering but other than that it's 5/5 all around.
Absolutely stellar game. My only complaint is that the player moves a touch too slow so it's difficult to dodge baddies if you make a typo and need extra distance. Otherwise, absolutely wonderful entry. Great job!
@Karai17 thanks for playing! You can sprint by pressing Shift which should help you get some distance :)
Oh, so I'm just an idiot. :)
Great game, the art is top-notch and the gameplay is fluid. Really great entry!
That was brilliant. The idea was innovative and the music + visuals were so damn polished, its amazing! On the gameplay end of things, I couldn't figure out if there was a way to compensate for missed shots, since if you miss a single shot you had to redo the word and it meant that the enemies pretty much always caught up to me. Perhaps some hitstun per shot or slowmo while reloading would help?
Absolutely excellent ! The only issue to me was the zqsd to move but qwerty to write, pretty boring. But this game is so great, music, theme, gameplay... it deserve a top 5 if not Number 1 on this Ludum :D
Not much I need to say here that I didn't gush about on stream. Gameplay was superbly fun and compelling, and very innovative. It was *gorgeous*, the assets, the lighting, the textures all came together perfectly with the crazy geometry and the music was really fitting, loved the lift music. 10/10 entry, very good job, wouldn't be surprised to see this be the winner.
great game, greater title. my name is Jeff and most of us Jeffs would approve
Absolutely love this. I agree with @Reizo that slow motion while reloading might be a good idea, but nevertheless a great game!
I love this game, i really enjoy it, one of the best LD41 topic approaches i have seen. Congrats!!
What a great idea. It's a bit difficult to switch between mouse and keyboard though.
You really took the theme to the next level!
At first I was hating you but then I discovered I could run and it became fairly easy ;) Well done !
10/10 for idea, graphics, sounds/music, basically everything! very well done!!!
Yeah this was great. Really nice look to it. Stressful typing action. Made me feel cool for typing fast like I always knew I was.
Okay, holy shit. Just wow. Such a unique concept with gorgeous art and amazing sound. Everything was just perfect. The only thing that could be improved is the boss fight at the end which felt a bit anticlimactic. He just died like any other enemy and I had to find and clean up the little guys. Definitely the best jam game I have seen!
That was pretty dooope. Good work. Only thing i think that could have been improved would be perhaps a checkpoint system. I died like half way through and had to start all over again. Not the end of the world but would have been nice to respawn at the elevator or something. Overall super good job. Favorite game from the jam so far ;)
Great game, excellent concept on the type to shoot mechanic, need to brush up on my typing and strafing skills though!
Fantastic work!! Very Cool concept, i would pay for this!!
Your game made me say "I've got a bullet with your name on it" more than once I have to admit
Maybe the best submission I've seen so far. BTW, that lighting is awesome and I really dig the twisted corridor feeling at the beginning ^^
Wow, I love this game although I make typos a lot. I can't describe how much I love the visual design and the lighting. The music was really great too. One thing I would like to note is that you can identify enemies by how different the lighting looks on them. Since it seems that everything else is baked, the enemies stand out. I wonder if you used light probes? if not, I believe it may help minimize the visual differences between baked and dynamic objects. I finished the game and it was really fun. I lost 2 times till I discovered that I can notice the enemies, get near enough to wake them, then run back a certain distance, write their phrase, and finish them off. Excellent job.
I can't really say anything that everyone else hasn't said already, but this was awesome. I've always wanted a game where I can show off my fast typing ability but still have something beyond just typing, and this definitely did it. The sound design in particular was really satisfying, and was what really brought it to the next level for me. The gameplay was fantastic, don't get me wrong, but there was something immensely satisfying about the shooting sound effects. Really great job with this you guys.
Utterly fantastic and reminiscent of The Stanley Parable, which is something I wouldn't say about just any game. An utter riot and an honor to play :D The art is incredible and the sound design had a ton of soul on top of being well made. I don't know much about music theory but it always captured the feel of the scene. Especially the elevator scene lol Would highly reccoment this game to anyone! Full points from me!
This is amazing! The graphics are stunning and is a really great use of the theme. I really loved this retro style. The environment is awesome. One of the best game I've played in this LD.
Please, take a look at my game too: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/confessional
I really enjoyed playing this one! It was a little difficult at first to get the words right but I quickly got the hang of it. I wish it was a little bit longer, though. The graphics were excellent and the music fit right in. Theme interpretation was spot on, and the humor was hilarious. Good job!
very interesting mechanics, I enjoyed playing, but it difficult for me and sometimes i don't understand when enemy can damage me.
Wow, this was a really cool idea! And such presentation, art and flair! I very much enjoyed this one.
The mood is perfect, spot-on. Reminds me of Stanley Parable but with 100% more guns and typewriters. And that's awesome.
Excellent from every perspective. I can't really say anything bad about it. Congratulations, team.
Wow, I really liked the concept! The visuals and presentation are just gorgeous! You guys nailed it, one of the best games I've played at LD41!
We also did a typing game (mixed with platformer), if you are interested you can check it at: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/type-n-jump
Congratulations on the project!
Great work by the entire team. Easily the best typing game I've come across this LD, and one of my favorites overall.
Very well polished and an interesting mechanic!
Also, can I ask if you're going to release the soundtrack? It keeps getting stuck in my head and I hate that, thanks
@pickens-inc I'll ask our sound guy. I'm sure he'd be happy enough to release it
This was a fantastic game. I gave most of my feedback on stream. Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing it!
Holy shit that was amazing. The idea is pure genius and the execution is masterful, I am in aw. I would _absolutely_ pay $20 for a game like this if it had a deeper story and character development. I'm amazed at the quality of the assets too. The gun is just so good. And the insanity of the corridors combined with the music... God I can't even
@Benjamin-San-Souci thank you for such a wonderful comment! We're overwhelmed by the response we're getting and are really excited that people are enjoying the game so much :)
good mechanic, a little bit difficult to have time to write the new word.
Best game I've played in the jam so far! Really solid, this is a winner. Could really use some kind of healing or checkpoint: although the game isnt too difficult, you are likely to get hurt a few times on the first few enemies before you get a hang of things, which then leaves you to play the rest of the game with reduced health. But yeah, the overall package is super solid, top marks on all points.
Really enjoyed this, I didn't think someone would be able to find a new way to approach the concept of Typing of the Dead. The only thing I felt it was missing was something at the end to show you've won other than restarting.
This is amazing, fun, hard and amusing. So good.
I really want to play a full game of this.
Nice idea, great innovation, music fits very well, the game is fun... Everything is perfect!
Really really god job!
This is so far my personal winner. Really cool concept mixed with some tension while trying to type fast enough to kill all the chairs :) You have moved typing games in really unusual direction. I had a great time, and I would like to thank you for that!
The visuals were on point and super polished, as was the audio. Really liked the concept, congrats on a kick ass entry.
Dang! Good job! I love the graphics and the audio is superb! I also love the genre-mixing mechanic, very well done! It's actually fun to type like that! I suggest actually taking this forward as an educational game! I'm sure it would do phenomenally!
Great job, and good luck!
The visuals are outstanding. I didn't think it was possible to get that much art done in 3 days. The music and audio were on point. I love the click of the typewriter keys and the upbeat/sometimes creepy music. Only problem with the game was that the motion blur was kind of high. I love how your key presses are the bullets. Unbelievably great game. Well done.
Oh, man, how this game awesomeness! Really like the effect how you reload the gun, this antquare setting is very cool. The gameplay is unique and impressive! Unbelievable idea to make healthbars as world and give the player lettergun.
I enjoyed, thanks!
The idea, graphics, audio and gameplay were all amazing! And the game runs surprisingly well on browser too! The only thing I didn't like was the intensive motion blur, but thats just my personal opinion. One of the best entries so far, keep it up!
Wow. literally the first game I gave full points in every category. While I loved every bit of the game what most impressed me was the distopian level design combined with the fitting music. Overall the level of polish and smoothness of play is amazing for a jam. I don't usually like typing games, but if you would add more content to this I would absolutely play it.
I enjoyed this game at the poing, that now i can say that this is the most under-rated game that I've seen in this Jam. 10/10 guys, keep up with this master piece!
I had so much fun playing this, mixing a shooter with a typing game was a great idea! And really well executed too. To be a little bit nitpicky, I think the enemies could make noises so you realize they're sneaking behind you. But really good work, this is a winner for me
That was such a cool concept, and the execution was amazing. The typewriter gun was so cool. I also really liked the look of the level, with all of the office equipment everywhere. Great job, great boss fight, high marks all around from me!
Interesting gameplay and really well done. I have an azerty keyboard which I switch in order to use WASD keys. Then not really easy to write a word. However I had fun playing. The gun is amazing ++
Great job, peeps
Nice idea; well executed. The game ran almost unplayably slow on my laptop (I think the motion blur was a big contributor), so I found the timing aspects a little difficult. Very polished artwork and great sound.
@the_noffs did you play in the web browser? the download has better perf. Although its not the most optimised game
Loved it. Saw the game on Kroltan's stream. Hilarious idea, well executed. Two thoughts though. First, I felt like the hitbox on my character was slightly large. As with all fps players, I was taken aback in the unlikely event that I got hit. Second, I would love if momentum in a jump would carry you. I was trying to run/jump backward and start typing while moving backward.
I didn't mind the motion blur, and it ran really well even via WebGL for me. :)
Probably the most fun entry I've played yet :D Typing and shooting games are two of my favorite genres. Combined? HmmmMM sign me UP. This was super funny and the music does a lot for it. Also, the directions/mechanics were pretty intuitive despite neither genres being compatible which made it even better! This is a brilliant thing and I fully support Mr and Mrs Chair's lovely marriage!
Good job! Cool game!
I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.
I hope you continue with the project.
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/witchs-escape
Just another person jumping on to tell you how great your game was!
The visuals here are really-really impressive! The gunplay is fun for the most part, it's all about amazing spectacle and hectic typing. The approach to the theme is something I have seen other LD games do too, but it's undoubtedly best executed here. The feedback loop and overall presentation is quite spectacular! I did encounter some hitbox issues though. I feel like this game would be even more fun with a few more mechanics, because it did get a bit stale by the end.
Really excellent mashup of genres, and I love the environment art. The enemies are a bit floaty and silent, and there could be some effects for when they die, but the gameplay mechanics are solid, fun, and original.
I was looking forward to this one and I wasn't dissappointed. This's spectacular in pretty much every category.
Nitpicks: * the vocab could be bigger
I got really nervous walking around, which objects will suddenly come to life? I am not used to playing 3D FPS games, so I was pretty bad at it. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: But awesome job, the graphics and music are really cool!
The game's pretty cool but as an AZERTY keyboard user, having to remember where the A, Z and M key were cost me a few health points :3
Thanks for playing @Tymus!
I'm afraid I don't have an AZERTY keyboard to test with, but on the windows build you should be able to rebind the movement keys on the launcher's "Input" tab.
We're working on a post jam version, which could support some remappings for AZERTY.
Do you have any good examples of games that have good AZERTY support for reference? - I'm curious how this option is presented, or if it's usually picked up automatically.
That was pretty fun! The music is good and not on too short of a loop. The gun sounds were really solid. Great gun reloading and gun shooting sounds. Lots of nice art. Frame rate was pretty low for me on Web GL build, which is too bad. I don't think the combination of typing to reload and shooting really did it for me in terms of fun factor, but I'm glad you guys tried it out.
Cool and innovative! How did you guys even manage to make this in the given time? Gorgeous. The genres really work well together, I got to have a lot of fun even with my somewhat slow typing speed :D
I don't have a good example for azerty support, but what I usually do for fps control on Unity is making double Input references for Horizontal and Vertical (adding the z to the vertical and the q to the horizontal) so players don't have to switch their keyboard language :)
Cool game. The art is incredible. I like the style of having larger than life office furniture. Gave it a cool absurdist vibe. Having glowing red eyes on enemies made it super obvious which things are bad. The text above their heads was very clear. The impact red splashes was nice. The enemy health bar/name with the delayed red text was really cool. It helped to show you when you missed a letter. You would feel like you're pumping out letters, but if their name didn't keep turning red, you knew you had missed a letter.
The sound effects were great. The typewriter had awesome typing sounds, a satisfying lock and load and firing sounds. I would have liked the enemies to have some sort of sound. It was super creepy advancing into an area, not knowing if you were going to get flanked by a killer desk fan.
The main loop of pressing r, typing, then hitting enter and unloading on the enemies was very satisfying and fluid. I was only getting like 5 fps for some reason and it was still playable. After restarting my computer and trying again, everything worked fine.
It would have been handy to be able to heal somehow. I tried typing out health, and it would have been cool if that worked. I failed one time on the very last enemy because I had gotten down to 1 H left. The hitboxes for the enemies hitting you was a little bit large so it was kind of frustrating when you were trying to take a corner to skirt by them and they still got you.
All in all, cool game. I found myself actually wanting to look around a bit (once I checked my surroundings as to not get flanked) which is more than I can say about most jam games. I even restarted my computer to try to get more than 5 fps because it was a game I wanted to try out. That may sound minor, but I mean it as a compliment.
@Shess thanks! If you're interested in how we made it please check out the [source on github]( https://github.com/Almax27/LD41-Jeff-From-Accounting)
We have also written some retrospectives - [An art retrospective](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/jeff-from-accounting/jeff-from-accounting-a-retrospective-art) - [A code/design retrospective](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/jeff-from-accounting/$94636)
@Solrun such a detailed review! Thanks for being awesome! We're currently working on a post jam version which should address some of the combat issues. I'll also look into adding some attack delay/telegraphing to help alleviate the hit box issue you mentioned.
Perfect 5-stars! When I edged my way around the corner, typed a name and then shot the chair with the letters, I felt clever. If you continue to develop this, when I shot between the text and top of Autumn and missed the letters, I felt unclear what I needed to aim at.
Nice one! I had a fun time playing this. But the gameplay got a bit repetitive after a while. Loved the idea! Good job!
My favorite from this jam! Saw several Twitch streams of this game and finally got around to playing. The concept is so unique and fun; I can see this extended to a full-length game!
If we talk about my leisure time and what I generally do now in my free time, then this is definitely forex trading. Since I found a great broker and [login binomo](https://binomo.broker/binomo-login/), I enjoy spending my time making good money. Of course, I cannot say that it is easy, but my efforts bring me good results, so I can really advise it to you.
When you start trading on a crypto exchange, it is very important to pay attention to the choice of a broker if you want to get a good result and not have problems with a bank account, and so on. I can advise you to read article https://augustafreepress.com/rules-for-forex-trading-success/, as there is a lot of useful information and tips for beginners.
Overall, I have to say that this game seems pretty entertaining, but I definitely wouldn't want an accountant like that, it doesn't feel safe at all. It took me a while to discover https://incorporatebusinessonline.net/category/incorporation/ and find a good company to help me with accounting, exactly not to have any problems like that.
