Very fun puzzle game :) Not too hard but the different elements really make you think before you move. Catchy music and cute visuals. Very polished for a jam game!

Very fun puzzle game :) Not too hard but the different elements really make you think before you move. Catchy music and cute visuals. Very polished for a jam game!
An extremely well-polished game, the stress from the shrinking screen led to some very clutch moments. The use of light as a mechanic to increase screen size was very good because it is easy to sense when you're getting close to safety when the screen is very small. The boss was bananas awesome! 10/10 GOTY would Bear again!
Hey Diptoman! Very fun game and I really enjoyed playing it on stream last night :) Just as we expected my brain was still puzzling out the levels as I was trying to sleep. It's Pokemon Ruby all over again!!! D: Very polished and a great use of the theme.
Very cool game! I especially liked the music and retro-pixel style. The variety of enemies was very nice, since each allowed for a different strategy. Because of that, the game was difficult but not unfair. The hitboxes were a little confusing (as was mentioned before) but overall a fantastic entry!
An excellent game all around! Sorry I wasn't very good at it hehe :P The whole experience felt very smooth and polished, and once I got used to the dash/float/drop functions it became a very deep game.
Lol thanks guys
@penguinpotential you know what I think you're right. I'll just have to use this game as the base for my next one. U_U
Very good game, well polished and smooth to play :) The thunder was a little aggressive which made it so I couldn't hear the music and SFX but oh well. Also liked the randomess of the pickups and how that had a big effect on the playthrough. Overall very good!
Very fun time playing this on stream last night with some super cute art and cool western music. :) The knife might have been a little under-powered but very fun combo of genres.
Hey! I played your game last night and I feel bad that I wasn't good enough to really play it. U_U Sorry. But I guess my critique would be that it as an interesting premise that could have benefited from some play-testing. Also maybe check out some Unity tutorials for lighting, since even a simple directional light would have made it a lot easier to make sense of things.
Overall extremely fun and good entry! Loved the unique premise and how it fit the theme. It was a little confusing with all the buttons sometimes but once you get in a groove it all seemed to flow very well. Had a great time and some laughs. Awesome job!
Very cool interpretation of the theme :) Fun but simple gameplay mechanics that made it very strategic and not twitchy. Cool art, reminded me of old windows games back in tha dayyyy. Awesome entry.
I thoroughly enjoyed playing this game :D Once you get the hang of the movement/inventory system it's a genuinely challenging puzzler that actually makes you think! Took me a minute to figure out where my guy was at first since there's a lot going on on the screen but that's part of the charm I think. :)
Some kind of feedback would be nice to let you know when you've lost health and sometimes I'd accidentally move 2 steps instead of 1, but those were very minor issues that didn't hurt the overall game. Very solid entry!
@matank yeah sorry about the clues mix-up... there were changes to the level design after I had done the clues that borked them up a bit. :'(
@f1krazy Hey thanks for playing and for the thoughtful review! Yeah we were kind of stepping on each-other's toes in terms of controls and level design, so for example I had done the hints on the Saturday which told the player to return the lava boots last, but on the Monday the design was changes so you need to return the High Jump last... sorry about that.
And also you can skip the jingle with space ;P
Very nice graphically, and it was very fun to pick things up and throw them around ^_^ I wasn't really able to guage what cargo pieces to throw and which to keep, since nothing I did really seemed to change the tilting of the plane? Either way, I enjoyed the sound design and the premise is solid :)
Hey I really liked your space game! It was very space good and shooting the space bullets was satisfying in a space-y way :3 I had a really hard time understanding the movement scheme, which is maybe just because I'm not used to Asteroids, but some in-game tutorial would have been nice hehe. Overall I enjoyed the intro, graphics and music!
A really good game ^_^ I don't think I quite got the hang of it but I did enjoy throwing the gnomes into the volcano hehe. A liiittle bit more of a tutorial would have been welcome but I understand the constraints of a Jam. The art was fun and cheerful which contrasted the tension of forced blood sacrifice in a fun way, and the audio design was fun too.
Tough game but fun! I found it a little tricky to gauge when I was able to throw the knives and I found the turning-around wasn't very responsive but that added to the complexity of the game. Loved the art and the goats. The music was also very soothing and gave a cool mood impression. Just one point, I found the base jump height to be very high, which took me into spikes a lot of the time which was a tad frustrating >_<
When I saw the art of the game I was immediately fascinated! Very interesting because you go from not wanting to sacrifice these people to trying getting them to murder each other in a very short span of time lol. Hey. Gotta win the game! ;P Very solid game and fun enough to make you keep trying until you figure out all the people.
I got 71 ^o^ I really liked the mechanics and how you know you only have 100 people in total so it's very important to sacrifice small amounts of people regularly to destroy the kamikaze guys and be patient. Enjoyed the elevator music too hehe. Could have used a small infusion of mood to make the game a little more tense but overall very good ^_^
Hehe I condemned the whole village. Screw those guys :u I thought the gravity switching was nicely responsive and thoroughly enjoyed the art and soundtrack. I did run into a bug where I was killed by a boar at one of the totem poles while I couldn't fight back but oh well! Great game!
Very solid entry, and once you figure out what's going on it's quite enjoyable to play :) The little notes when you destroy the enemies were very enjoyable, and made me want to work hard to get the good ones! Might have been nice to have been able to see things like the health bar and various stats from the main view, instead of needing to right-click into the time window. Especially if you could manage them from the main view to not have to look away from the action. The pixel art and music were fun and exciting, though a bit confusing sometimes, especially during the tutorial where many things were fighting for my attention.
Main trouble I had: -Were there separate levels? It would have been interesting to play a game with extremely short levels but NOT be able to change the stats on the fly. What happened was I'd optimize for each type of enemy when they appeared. It was a lot of menus that eroded the fun of the game.
:O Fluke!!! Nooo!! Interesting short game. I actually wasn't aware you could move the dog until part-way through the second level lol. I enjoyed the music and art, though it would have been cool to jump maybe.
Very interesting! The art was very cute and the music completely not creepy at all or anything. Excellent mood and adherence to the theme! Would recommend.
Fantastic game overall and in every category! I feel like it could've been a bit harder considering the source material is dark souls. (But I find Dark Souls too hard so this was perfect for me hehe) I loved the diversity of the crops and how they sometimes spawned elite units. Completely addictive. Will play more.
Beautiful game with a fantastic soundtrack! A bit too frustrating for me but definitely fun.
Very fun game once you get the hang of the rougelike elements! :D I wish there could have been sound to make it more obvious when you'd been hit by something or when you'd hit something but it became clear in the end. Also the pale on pale colors are sometimes hard on the eyes X_X. Otherwise a very cool concept with unique graphics. Very solid entry!
Very spoop. Couldn't handle all the balls. Will have clown dreams now, thank you very much for that.
Completely addictive! I definitely plan to play some more later ^_^ I love the increasing intensity og the levels, very well balanced which is rare for a Jam game. I think it has a lot of room for growth and even commercial prospects.
Very funny game! I'm not very good with text adventure games but this one was fun. The colors added a very nice mood and level of interest to a very difficult genre to jazz up. I found it a little difficult to tell when I was supposed to keel turning left or when I was supposed to go straight haha. It was fun giving the game sass though. Had to detract a point for lack of seatbelts though. Sorry. :P
Tons of fun first of all! The voice acting was hilarious and the art and lighting were killer. :D Sometimes there were moments where the voice acting overlapped and it might have been nice to get some more variety, but in a way the fact that it was the same overdramatic death message over and over again made it much better. ;P The mood was maybe a little less-spooky than intended but I like that kind of cheesy horror so you get a double thumbs-up from me hehe. :D
Very smart game :) I'm not very keen on puzzle games but this one kept me interested! Cool music and concept.
Utterly fantastic and reminiscent of The Stanley Parable, which is something I wouldn't say about just any game. An utter riot and an honor to play :D The art is incredible and the sound design had a ton of soul on top of being well made. I don't know much about music theory but it always captured the feel of the scene. Especially the elevator scene lol Would highly reccoment this game to anyone! Full points from me!
I had a fun time playing! Sorry I was pretty tired by the time I got to you >_< I was definitely into it, especially when I didn't have any weapons haha. As far as innovation, I found it played much like any other bullet-hell with the addition of the card-game mechanic kind of on the side. Would have liked to see the cards more integrated into the actual gameplay, since in the end it was just me going up against gradually harder bosses with a single weapon anyways. :P Overall, I had a lot of fun, though!
This was very fun! Had a great time playing it on the stream ^_^ The humor and graphics were on point and I really appreciated the opening cinematic. :D The cyclopses got really tough in wave 4 and I don't think I would have been able to beat them, but I aws so into it I didn't even notice until Zues started getting hit haha. :P
played the original and it was fun, but only really because I enjoy both Tetris and Space Invaders. The fact that you shoot the next tetris piece didn't really change much for me because it didn't change the outcome of the other side. basically just playing two games at the same time with pauses. Solid Entry tho
Very fun music and mood. Feel like I've been through hell lol. Would have liked it if the saws didn't cover the only possible exits hehe. Also the jumping was very buggy and the falling could have been a bit quicker, since a lot of the time I got stuck on things due to unresponsive controls.
Very fun! Especially enjoyed the meatball hehe :)The character models were simple but fun. Overall you captured a playful mood with a crafting system that for me felt very realistic (brought me back to my Subway Sandwich Artist days haha)
Fantastic game! It took a few moments to get used to but once you're there it's tons of fun ^_^ I agree that an endless runner with different octopuses would have been neat but alas such is a Jam. Graphics were splendid, especially the cute maki. >:3
10/10 Cat voice acting! I just didn't have the patience to play much further than the tutorial. Perhaps hotkeys would have drastically quickened the gameplay? Also the graphics were fun. :)
Super fun game! Took a bit of getting used to but it was very fun to see how the pieces moved and attacked. I really enjoy chess and it was honestly exciting to get to play it in such and interesting and novel way. The elevator music was a nice touch since the overall game seemed to have kind of a placid feel, much like a game of chess. :)
A very fun and quirky entry :) The difference in quality between the pixel art and the environment was distracting, however, and the game might have been better suited to being completely 2D. Loved all the different monsters, though. They were all unique and funny and I want to be friends with all of them. More relaxing than spooky but I suppose that's what you were going for so full points for mood hehe.
Hey Lilyhohl! I finally got around to playing your game and it was a hoot! The little pizzas reminded me of a Canadian lunch-time delicacy(exaggeration) from my childhood and I loved the faces on the customer. Especially when they showed up RIGHT BEHIND YOU looking all murdery! Very fun game and a good use of theme. The music was a bit repetitive but that was kind of fun too. Also I wish that the customers didn't just show up ready to murder you but perhaps several calm customers would show up at once for you to strategically manage.
Fun game! :) Great variety of things to do. Obviously chickens are awesome, though goats would have been great too! I wish the goblins would have been a bit more of a threat, since they never got to my house but I understand it's hard to balance a game and build it in just 2 days. Very solid entry.
Fantastic entry! Loved everything about it! The art, visuals and mood were all wonderful with a fresh and well-executed take on the theme :) Keep up the great work!
That was. Hand's down. The spookiest game I've played in a very long time. I thoroughly enjoyed the puzzle elements because they weren't frustrating but were just the right amount of difficulty. The audio, graphics and mood were incredible and I can't wait to see more of your work someday :D
Fantastic and smooth. Excellent visuals and witty clues. :P Loved it!
Very fun! A bit lacking in graphics but the concept is solid and the controls are fun, if tricky.
Wow! Took some getting used to some of the mini-games but once I did this was a lot of fun! Getting into the zombie shooter segment felt like an accomplishment and also terrifying. O_O The art, music and mood were all pretty much flawless, reminding me strongly of classic Wario. Excellent job, guys!
DAT CLUCK DOE. Thoroughly enjoyed the platforming elements though as you said the rhythm is a bit off. Thoughtful use of theme and chickens! 5/5 for fun!
Extremely well done and very thoughtful use of theme. This sort of experience really resonates with me and you guys handled it perfectly. The way the windows and mirrors were done was so unnerving and you really managed to make me homesick, sitting right here in my apartment. Also now i"m craving pizza.
Very cool concept and well executed! I really liked going FULL WARPZONE MODE even though it only ended with mme getting dropped into the void. the lack of music was very eerie and put more emphasis on the timer pings. I'm also very glad you made it so you restart at the beginning of the scene whenever you die because the alternative would have been maddening haha. Would have liked to have seen some variety in animation like perhaps idle silliness or something to give the main character a bit more personality, but overall a very very solid entry
HIGH SCORE.png Super fun! It was tough juggling the platformer/shooter with the tetris, which is a tough game to begin with haha! The music was on point and the score system was a nice touch. Can't wait to see how I do on the leaderboards haha
Loved making the old people fall on the puddles as terrible as that is to say haha. I enjoyed the strategic elements, though the fact that the old people's movements were unpredictable (and you could spawn next to them or get trapped inside them) made it a little unfair at times. Overall a solid entry, especially for the Compo!
Haha :P very fun little game! I only wish you could attack from in there air but I understand about time constraints and all. Also in the end I found the best method for killing the boss was just running up and slashing him to death while not dodging. Nice cheesy ending though! ;P
Had a lot of fun, especially once I got into the rhythm of it :) I only got to 30 as you saw but I was very proud. This would make an absolutely fantastic VR game! 10/10 cactuses with hats. Could have used more tumbleweeds for mood. ;)
Truly fantastic! There are few LD games I genuinely want to keep playing so long! Totally addictive and a genuinely exciting and interesting twist on classic tetris! Couldn't make a trout but I think I'll come back and try later! Very very solid entry with nostalgic graphics and audio.
Very fun! Give your sister props for Fred :) I liked the concept and the controls were very fun once you got used to them. Very cool.
Uuuuuu the sounds of scratching as if at a door lock are what really got me. O_O I'm very sensitive to sounds and boy did this game freak me out! The ending wasn't as scary as the rest, I felt, but whew! Well executed with excellent sound design, mood and graphics. No one has ever asked me those sorts of questions before and geez were they upsetting to contemplate.
I am king slime!!! All other slimes booowww before me!Very fun and groovy game with good Gameboy feels. I do wish there was more of an incentive to actually fight the slimes, and when you are fighting them, a bit more skill. However, you did say those were both things you planned to implement, but I can only judge on what was offered in the Jam. U_U Overall good entry! 10/10 names of slimes.
Hey there! I saw your post that you were looking for games to play and would like to offer up my game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/on-the-fly I've been meaning to try out Last Girl On Earth for a while since the visuals are so lovely and this is a great excuse ^_^ The graphics and sound effects all gave it a very polished feel and made me genuinely care about the characters enough to push through! (Despite my bad game abilities haha) I definitely want to play more after work and see if I can beat it!
Had fun playing this! Enjoyed the plentiful Mountain Dew and the existential dread of grocery shopping. 10/10 Relatable.
Excellent mood and color palette :) I really liked the concept and felt the stress of a tower defense game with the added interest of a platformer! I liked the little alien-shaped protagonist and would have liked to know more about them and their neon world. It's too bad about the audio glitches that didn't let me see the ending, but that's okay! I still had lots of fun and was very engrossed in it.
Hey! Was attracted in by the art and rhythm concept, but I found the lack of feedback in the rhythm elements hard to work with. Still not sure if I was doing it right. >_<
Hehe I finally got to play your game! (Better late than never ;P) I really liked the idea and the part with the map and the darkness was very good! I felt like I really had to focus to remember and get through. The assets were a little mish-mashed together in terms of style and I guess that's because some were from a previous project? The music was spooky too. :) There were a few bugs, which others have already told you about, but I didn't find they impacted the gameplay. I would have liked it if there was a gun reticle to see where you were pointing precisely but I guess the arrow was fine. Overall very good!
Fantastic game! Genuinely had a fun time as a littlw worm, and it was nice that once you're eaten by a fish it goes away, so progress through previous areas is faster. Excellent use of the theme and mood/music. Had a great time playing and can't wait to see future work by you!
Hey there! Sorry I didn't get to your game on the stream last night but I enjoyed it this morning :) It was very cute how you animated the words to evoke what they were. For example I immediately knew what the sea, water, axe and grass were even before I read them.
I liked the thoughtful interpretation of the theme :) The controls were fun but tough, though it seems I did better than most hehe :P The graphics were simple which let my imagination run wild imagining what kinds of things might be inside the little balls the male and female symbol collected.
@reality-blind @nebbishhacker @nathalia-hohl Hey guys! I was wondering if you had had time to play On The Fly with your girlfriends/fiance yet, and if so what kinds of feedback they had? I'm trying to get more couples input on the general mood/feeling of the game and how it made you feel together and would really appreciate knowing what they had to say. :)
@saoi-games Yeah we were hoping to implement two end states: one for being hungry and one for reaching maximum love. In the end we didn't have time but are still very happy with the result.
The main pillar we wanted to instill in our game was a feeling of calm and, if played with a loved one, a feeling of cooperation. We didn't want to sacrifice other, more relaxing aspects of the game such as sound effects towards programing an end-state which would be more stressful than zen. :)
Had tons of fun! :D Will play again later!
Very excellent first game! I played the original jam entry which was a bit difficult which honestly made it a bit more exciting for me. I don't mind starting over and the challenge was welcome. Pinky finger hurts a bit tho hehe. Overall lovely mood and an interesting story premise.
Great job you guys! Loved the Asteroids/Legend of Zelda mashup, though perhaps some of the jokes could have been less on-the-nose. :P Loved the variety of enemies and the slightly-wonky movement. All came together to create a very quirky mood, accentuated by the xylophone. Great voice acting too!
Hey I was able to play your game tonight @gamesmartt :D Had a lot of fun, though I wish the princess took more than one hit to turn into a slime hehe. verrrry tricky! Good implementation of the sword throwing mechanic and fun music.
Hope maybe you finish this, since the concept seems fun! :) I was just confused about why the fish disappeared even though I didn't shoot them? Also why is there a menu screen when you move up hehe.
Hey fellow Winnipeger! :D Fun game! Ther music was really funky and the different pets were cool :) I'm not sure of the people liked my pets or if they were carrying them offscreen and ripping them to shreds ;P Doesn't really matter I suppose those were abominations.
Wow! Fantastic entry! I agree with the others that a little less foreshadowing would have gone a long way. Perhaps if the pet had started out cute and gotten more and more dangerous, much like what happens when people take real wild animals as pets? Overall very well executed, especially with the voice overs and SFX! Can't wait to see your future work!
Fantastic game! The art style is so evocative of old-school racing arcade games down to the lines across the screen. Fast paced and bright! I had a hard time telling when to stop turning the car and noticed that you could turn even when you weren't supposed to but oh well! It was fun spilling the girls all over the place haha. The mood is on point, very funny and funky audio. Great game!
Very smooth and fun! Wish the enemies would shoot at you rather than just straight forwards but alas! I liked the quirky combo of dating sim and shoot-em-up! It worked very well with the mood you were trying to portray.
Very creative! I'm a big fan of Bob Ross and painting in general so this entry really stuck out to me. It would have been nice to have seen some elements of Bob Ross' style in the artwork, but I suppose that isn't what you were putting your energy into. One nit-pick is that I wish the canvas had been white to start with, and that you could have used maybe a set of colors that come from the painting instead of just random ones that didn't quite work.
I enjoyed this game, though I found the platforming element a bit frustrating at times when the jump didn't work or I go caught on a platform by my hat. I enjoyed the core concept but wish you guys would've had more time to add the recipe book, or at least post clues on the instructions page.
