I was sceptic at first but it was surprisingly fun and satisfying! Very original! Really liked the attack animation.
Oh but I don't really understand why I had to kill those tree :(
Split body parts of enemies by their letters on the ground when you killed them is a brilliant idea.
Nice job on making the game!

A charming idea! I see a lot of potential for expressing character through the way in which the text is animated. Would love to see this taken further in the future.
Very creative! The gameplay is very nive, although it would have been nie to have more of a story involved. But anyway, a very cool entry

@cowa actually it was an idea near the deadline, the idea is to get a specific character and that makes part of another. There might be a little more:D Sry it's not very obvious but so glad you like it!

@Carthage Thank you! So glad to hear that! I think I'll probably make it more complete in the future:)

@Artur-Hawkwing Yeah I agree, let me see if I can come up with some good plot to make it better. Very glad you think it's cool!

I like the idea of using text instead of graphics, but the execution of the style left me bit confused. It was at times hard to tell if I managed kill the enemies or not. Gameplay was simple, simple enough that I managed to pick up how to play without any instructions. Difficulty was bit low or non-existent, as it seems that you cannot lose in anyway.

@Tuomo The initial idea was as a Knight, you also drop your last character while being attacked, here the T, and after you kill the tree that T will recover you the lost one health. Well, I just don't know how to implement it in GMS in the given time, like a moving health bar made with different characters so...yeah, I see the difficulty as a big missing part too. Probably do it as a Post LD. Thanks for the thoughts buddy!!!

Very neat idea! Really pleasing aesthetic. This is a cute little game :) Best part is definitely splitting the enemies into separate letters when attacking them, that's pretty neat!

@NoahRo Thank You! I'm happy to hear that! Also I'm little curious did you find the "partner" and a last message in it? :D

Creative and fun. I like the representation of things by combining letters and images just like hieroglyph!

@honpray Yup I did! That was very cute! It kinda took me by surprise though, I didn't totally realize that I had just killed a tree. I don't know why exactly, but the huge text at the end made me very happy :)

@NoahRo Great! Uhh actually it's my bad, not making it that clear. Should have let the character to be dropped stay longer and not disappear as soon as it's dropped. Just like a word puzzle game! Anyways,I'm happy to make you feel happy 😀
The concept behind this game is brilliant, and I hope this can be developed into a full-fledged game at some point. You could have word-items like 'sword' and 'scroll' and so forth that can be picked up and added to the player's inventory.
Awesome idea. Reminds me of a lot of things that I like: Word World the kid's show. Typoman the game. Counterfeit Monkey the text adventure. Of course all those things lack some aspects that you could improve on, so if you want check them out for inspiration. If you make it so that you can change letters and change how a word works, add some polish and add your own flare it can be a great game. Good job for your first jam, keep it up!

@gamebuilder Thank you! Yeah it's quite small now. I did wanted to build a inventory and that problem spent me a whole lot of time, like how I can know what characters I have, then swords and scrolls follows naturally. I'll probably make it better later! Thank you for the thoughts!

@GastricSparrow Omg I actually 'Wowed' at the Typoman's PART changing to TRAP! It's so great! I checked'em all out and actually played the Word World for some time! The information from you is so great. Much love! I had the idea to make something playable with characters for long and this is some kind of prototype, many functionality and mechanism wasn't finished in time. I'll make it better and spend more time on it I guess.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for this! New worlds for me to explore.
Thank you for watching me stream your game at https://www.twitch.tv/saoigames tonight.
I love the art concept you have for this, it could have been better with more gameplay features, but it was a very interesting first Ludum Dare entry.

@saoi-games Thank you actually! I'll get some improvement for this little thing sometime later:)
Hey there! Sorry I didn't get to your game on the stream last night but I enjoyed it this morning :) It was very cute how you animated the words to evoke what they were. For example I immediately knew what the sea, water, axe and grass were even before I read them.

@Rebecca-Kremer Thank you! So glad to hear that. And actually I enjoyed your streaming, it was fun!
Very interesting game you made. unique, i would have liked a little more story as it has been mentioned before and for next time maybe some more closure?

@PandaCultist Yeah totally, the sea at the bottom and mountains at the top then I didn't realize that it was not tightly closed. I'll come up with something more than fences and walls later for sure! Thank you!

Cool! Wasn't expecting this. It was well animated and very fun to fight enemies and explore the world you created. A very fun one-off.
Well done.
