LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Revolver Curse by SkullPixel 2018-12-05T23:24:54Z

I'm stunned that this was made in a weekend lol you guys killed it. Very fun, very pretty, awesome submission. it played a little slow, like it was underwater a bit lol but I got used to it. truly loved it.

Diortem by Ilseroth 2018-12-04T04:28:42Z

**wow**.

This game was so cool I showed my friends lol. I cant believe you both did this this in only a weekend. This is better than a lot of early access games I've seen lol. If you decide to keep working on it, please make a post about it. I'll follow you. I beat the whole thing through and It was really rewarding. I got the hang of the controls and that puzzle with the ascending platforms was sick. I'm really impressed with this one

The Orion Trail by Archimagus 2018-12-07T22:37:17Z

On the resource bars, the text got in the way of the value in the most critical point - when you're running out lol. Food, fuel and water were all very low and I couldnt tell which one needed it most because the text was in the way. Also, as said above, when you got to an encounter, sometimes, each option was -25 fuel, which basically gave no reason to select "get us out of here" because it offered no reward and you could just select something else. And the bars have no numerical value, when it says "-100 fuel", I don't know how much that will push my bar back.

Other than that, it was pretty good. I made it to the end with 1 ship left lol. stressful, but in a good way.

RAT LABS by Flatgub 2018-12-06T04:30:56Z

This was incredibly cool. I played for like 30 or 40 minutes, which is the longest I've played an LD submission ever I think lol. I couldnt beat it, but it was fun to just mess around with. It was well done for just 1 weekend, good job. Any plans to continue?

The Omicron Fleet by cerno-b 2018-12-08T04:16:40Z

This was pretty good! I don't have any complaints to speak of. It was fun to solve and it made me feel clever when things lined up right lol. The narration was good and the music set the tone nicely. good job

Sploof Sacrifice Quest by Epicruins195 2018-12-04T05:37:01Z

I think a button or a key to restart the game would be beneficial, I wouldnt even mind falling through the floor all the time if I didn't have to close the game and re-open it lol. That was pretty fun, and a nice concept, too. I like the idea of having to trade out your abilities. The art was charming, too.

Sidegrade by ReiMari 2018-12-05T02:43:10Z

Good use of the theme, I liked the mechanic. this was fun! I unfortunately did not make it through level 11 because I sacrificed all my health for rate of fire lol. As they said above, this could make for an interesting mobile game.

also: > I had to sacrifice the game-over screen to make sure I could submit a stable game.

nice.

Bomba Ball by bwalter 2018-12-05T22:48:32Z

This was my favorite submission so far. it was really fun, the art and sounds were charming, and the gameplay was easy to grasp and cool to watch. Very good.

Pyrrhic Victory by Kroute 2018-12-08T19:00:26Z

Wow! This entry was so polished, I could see my reflection in it. I got absolutely dunked on by the AI the first time, but I managed to pretty alright the second time around haha. I dont really have anything to critique. DO you have plans for the future of this game?

blood snow and wolves by miziziziz 2018-12-06T03:27:00Z

normally barren and desolate are not words I'd use in a positive way, but this game had a really dark atmosphere over it and those two qualities carried it well. I got my first deer rather quickly and just assumed that they would be easy to find. this was not the case, as everyone but myself and my dog starved between then and the next time I saw any. Then, my dog and I walked off into the woods, never to return. we both Died on day 8 lol.

This was really well done, especially for a compo. make sure you play and rate other games, I'd hate to see this one get swept under the rug.

Jesus Take the Wheel by PeachTreeOath 2018-12-06T02:53:35Z

absolutely hysterical lmao this was incredible.

Ludum Dare Simulator by Hempuli 2018-12-07T05:38:46Z

This was really sweet hahaha I loved the little cutscene where it showed you freaking out. It was hilarious, good job. very creative.

After Hours: A Reverse Metroidvania by MattWoelk 2018-12-08T18:19:23Z

the visuals were very good and the platforming was solid. I didn't know you could hit space to skip the dialog when picking up or dropping something, so that felt a little long, but after I figured that out it was fine. really cool submission. The theme fit well in a less in-your-face way. I liked it.

Cyberdisc-0 by Hi Im Greg 2018-12-08T18:34:55Z

This was a beautiful presentation. I felt like the combat was a little lackluster but still somehow satisfying? I cant put my finger on it. I guess it was like "just keep clicking until you win." there wasn't a whole lot of depth to it. But it felt good to send some dude in a strange hat cartwheeling across the street. the sounds and visuals made almost everything feel good. really cool entry, cant wait to see what you all get up to in the next jam ;)

Deadline of the Dead by _for_science 2018-12-08T18:51:32Z

This was my favorite out of the jam lmao all of the humor was good, the visuals were great, the gameplay was engaging and for the first time in recorded history, someone actually opted out of the audio rating for using royalty free music. No, but seriously, this was SOLID. If you polish a little more and add a few levels, you could sell this. It was very well done.

Escape Pod by aevek 2018-12-04T05:18:50Z

Very well made and very well put together. The puzzles were punshing in the good way (if I made a mistake I usually learned why and adapted). This was really good, I'm impressed it was made in only a weekend lol. Good stuff.

Effigy by Sauski 2018-12-06T21:07:58Z

I was straight up shouting at the dudes setting my stuff on fire lolol this was frustrating, but a fun kind of frustrating. well done

HELL by Smeax 2018-12-07T22:15:25Z

This played very well, it felt expensive lol. I really liked how satisfying it was to kill stuff, and the exploding guys' camera shake was intense. Actually, the camera was really good, I usually get a little nauseous when the camera moves around too much, but this felt really nice. Cool entry!

Rift Plugger by Mikeliosus 2018-12-06T00:39:26Z

The graphics were very nice and the puzzles were pretty good. Naturally the first thing I did was try to plug a hole with a villager, and when it worked, I was like "oh I guess thats the goal." On the second playthrough I found the reindeer lololol.

So yeah, this was really good. I couldnt finish it, unfortunately, but I had a great time.

Space Captain Leslie in ... Disasteroids!! by skettyNmeebs 2018-12-04T05:26:20Z

@dysnomian ah, yes, it totally is. Thanks for pointing that out! I'll post a fix in a sec

Space Captain Leslie in ... Disasteroids!! by skettyNmeebs 2018-12-04T07:09:12Z

@stevie-bushman Really glad to hear that  Thanks for playing!

Space Captain Leslie in ... Disasteroids!! by skettyNmeebs 2018-12-04T14:17:21Z

@triplefox thanks for the great feedback! I Will definitely look into the issues you mentioned after work! Very constructive, I appreciate it!

Space Captain Leslie in ... Disasteroids!! by skettyNmeebs 2018-12-05T02:12:11Z

@noahro Thank you for the kind words :thumbs up: Yes, the the voice acting was fun. It kinda kept me invested, because I had this audio clip and I was like "damn, I don't want to throw this out" lol. the keyboard controls were unfortunately put in after the mouse controls as a different flavor of play kind of thing and I didnt have much time to get it right before submission. :c As for the edge thing - I am aware of it! That is in fact a bug, and I had tried fixing it but couldnt come up with anything good in time. I tried one way of resetting the velocity but it kind of made you stick to the wall like tape, so I removed It. I'll have a look at it now.

@preda thank you kindly. It was very fun.

@stratoskakalis High score could be a cool addition. I'll look into it! As for more drag - I'd been playing the game every 5 minutes as I made it, so I got very used to the controls. I was very nervous that when I released it, something would be off that I just got used to haha I'll look into that, too.

Space Captain Leslie in ... Disasteroids!! by skettyNmeebs 2018-12-05T15:34:43Z

New Updates with various fixes mentioned above ;)

Space Captain Leslie in ... Disasteroids!! by skettyNmeebs 2018-12-05T21:27:21Z

@myrrhe Thank you for the kind words ;)

Space Captain Leslie in ... Disasteroids!! by skettyNmeebs 2018-12-05T22:07:33Z

@jfraser314 yeah lol it was a hail mary from sunday at 9pm lmao. I'm glad it was fun, though.

Space Captain Leslie in ... Disasteroids!! by skettyNmeebs 2018-12-06T00:09:18Z

@hygon space thank you very space much. I focused on the mouse so much that the poor keyboard got neglected lol so I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for playing

Space Captain Leslie in ... Disasteroids!! by skettyNmeebs 2018-12-06T00:47:34Z

@velvetlobster Thanks for the kind words haha I'm glad you enjoyed it.

@blacklambert big oof, I have a 1080p lolol I didn't even consider screen size. that was an oversight, thanks for pointing it out. I'll try to look into resizing.

Space Captain Leslie in ... Disasteroids!! by skettyNmeebs 2018-12-06T18:35:16Z

@wyatt @antoine-vion Oh jeez, was it too loud?? I'm so sorry lmao I'll make a patch to lower it, my bad!!

Space Captain Leslie in ... Disasteroids!! by skettyNmeebs 2018-12-06T18:56:02Z

@fishbrain @catbutt @fattori @wyatt @antoine-vion thank you all for the kind words :) I'll look through your games as well!

Space Captain Leslie in ... Disasteroids!! by skettyNmeebs 2018-12-07T05:24:41Z

@cloud-huai haha thanks! and yeah, most people did not know you can use the mouse. Next LD I'm making a tutorial a top priority lol

Space Captain Leslie in ... Disasteroids!! by skettyNmeebs 2018-12-07T22:08:39Z

@fluffy-kaeloky Hey, glad you liked it! The theme tie-in was a bit abstract, I know lol You had to sacrifice your own life when you ran out of bullets. My original idea was you had NO ammo, and you could ONLY ram other ships, but I didn't think that would be as fun, so the theme was much stronger then. maybe I should have kept it  Anyways, thanks!

@williwiderstand thank you very much! I like making strange, jarring moods with my music and I'm pleased with how it came out ;) thanks for playing!

@pellanor Thanks for playing! Yeah I've heard that from other people, too. Its subtle, but the longer you play, the faster the enemy ships spawn and shoot. I was hoping that would produce enough intrigue to last through to the end, but my numbers were a bit off  I'll make a note of it for next time ;)

Thanks for playing, everyone!

Space Captain Leslie in ... Disasteroids!! by skettyNmeebs 2018-12-08T18:02:38Z

@mimi thanks for playing, I'm glad you liked the mechanics! I beat the joke to death on purpose lol I'm not sure why I find that to be so funny but I do. I recognize that I am not everyone and it was probably annoying to a lot of people lol

@kutase Thanks for the kind words ;)

@drauce Yeah the controls for keyboard were not great, I designed the mouse controls first and keyboard was an afterthought haha sorry. And yes, that was intended, you had to be careful with your shots or you couldnt win. Someone else above pointed out that for a game jam game with that intention, it was probably way too long. I can definitely understand that. sorry if was frustrating haha. Thanks for playing

Space Captain Leslie in ... Disasteroids!! by skettyNmeebs 2018-12-09T20:19:26Z

@rebecca-kremer you were not alone on the confusing movement scheme lol I'll definitely allot time for a tutorial next jam. Thanks for the kind words!

@3ncryp73d space thanks, my space dude!

TtAWwyPTBaSPSTtaUGtSYL by GiovanniBarrottu 2018-12-05T22:06:00Z

this was a trip, I spent a lot of time in this one. It hurt to look at after a while, but in a good way I think. Really fun gameplay, intense visuals and nice details. It felt really good to shoot and the trails you leave when dragging someone are a nice touch. This was great.

Whole Hole by Bugord 2018-12-05T16:52:52Z

this was pretty fun lol I had a similar idea but I couldn't have done it anywhere near as good as this. good stuff.

aberth: simple text based choose your own adventure by jfraser314 2018-12-08T04:34:31Z

This is certainly a first lol. Very creative submission, I applaud you all.

Consilium - A history of life and choices by Gaming Night 2018-12-06T00:07:16Z

this was a great submission! I loved the art!

The gameplay was great. The use of the theme was very elegant, I didn't feel like it was in my face that this was about sacrifice, but it that was in fact what was going on. Awesome submission. I only got to 4 harmony bonus twice lol I might play again later after voting. If a WebGL version does come out, I'll show all my friends!

Nihilistic Nurture Navigation by NoahRo 2018-12-04T05:57:19Z

Tag me in a comment on here if you upload a newer version, I'll give it a playthrough then. good job so far.

Elemental Storm by BenBurgh 2018-12-05T03:47:48Z

I opted to destroy all 4 elements because I thought that was the objective lol but the ending was really good. I basically ruined the world to make the game easier. Interesting entry.

The mechanics are cool but unrefined. I'd be interested in seeing this game with some polish :P and the art was perfect lol

Sacrifice Them by velvetlobster 2018-12-05T03:07:50Z

fjjfjfjfj.png I'm not sure if I was doing this right, but I think I won.

Interesting game. I managed to literally juggle my friends by bouncing back and forth and pushing them back up into the air. I'm not really sure what I was supposed to take away from this or if that was the intended purpose, but I had fun anyway lol. I liked the art.

Shoot or Move by Dan Colman 2018-12-06T21:29:00Z

This is very cool, I'm showing my friends this game. They're really competitive so I'm sure they'll get a kick out of it. very good visuals, easy to understand and it feels good to play. nice job

Platformer.txt by Hugo kieffer 2018-12-05T22:00:24Z

This is one of the most unique entries I've seen lol I'm really glad I got to see it. It was pretty fun, too. I'd like to know if you decide to do anything else with this, so I'm following you 3 ;)

Platformer.txt by Hugo kieffer 2018-12-06T00:08:04Z

@hugo-kieffer Yeah man, sign me up. does this site have DMs?

Sacrifice to the Demonic Sheep God! by AKnght 2018-12-06T03:04:16Z

This was funny, I imagine if a demon started demanding sacrifices from me, in a panic I'd also start throwing random things into the pit too lolol. I hope you continue it, this could be quite fun if finished ;)

Ossium by JammedGame 2018-12-05T20:09:40Z

The mechanics were a little unclear at first. I didn't notice the upgrades you got hurt you until I died from double jumping lol. but I put together that the little red text above them was their damage cost for using. All in all pretty cool, the art was good, the platforming felt nice, and other than some strange bugs with the animation everything went very well.

Snackrificial Chamber by Wugbor 2018-12-06T02:28:40Z

I really like this one. It introduced all the components in a nice way, they weren't infuriatingly hard, and the graphics were nice. Its cool to see it get this far in just one weekend. It wrapped itself up quite nicely, albeit a little short. do you have and plans on continuing it?

Kinoko no kagi by Préda 2018-12-04T04:02:12Z

Hm. I might need a hint  but I dont want to give up yet. If you could dm me or comment here some guide so I can get through, I'd love to see the end of the game!

Some thoughts: The levels seem quite large. It takes a long time to get from end to end with very little in between to interact with or look at.. I swept the level as best I could but I still feel like I may have missed something in the vast space in the middle of the room lol. I did Like the art and the music. They were very cute.

Kinoko no kagi by Préda 2018-12-04T04:22:44Z

You got it dude @preda

Fire Swept by Eric Smith 2018-12-05T19:49:32Z

I had a great deal of fun with this, good job! I cant think of any real improvements and I didnt see any bugs :)

Long Live The King! by Player 2 2018-12-07T02:39:13Z

I played this for a long, long time. It was very engaging. This was an awesome entry, I hope more people get to see it!

Vegefrice by andremariano 2018-12-06T20:53:48Z

I LOVED the intro song lolol it was awesome. The art was cool, the puzzle was fun. I had absolutely no idea at all what I was doing the first time, but when I came back here and read your manual, I figured it out. Your manual on here is really, really good.

Very good entry, good job.

Die or Die (or not, whatever) by samaranin 2018-12-04T03:34:18Z

The text was a little bit small, everyone could walk through walls except me, and what I was supposed to do was a little unclear. I kept getting teleported to another room and I couldnt figure out why, and sometimes I would wind up outside of the map lol. That said, I loved the art!

Food Chain by Jessé Santana 2018-12-06T03:12:50Z

cute af lol

it was morbidly funny to watch all the other food smile and laugh while you burn one in a frying pan. congratulations on the first jam together.

Diminution by hexbit-jack 2018-12-05T02:24:49Z

This is a very interesting idea. I love the game of life, its really cool that you've managed to implement it into a game. I would love to see what becomes of this. Are you planning on continuing the idea?

Edit: the post right above me is you lmao I'm sorry. Cool idea, I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Bow-wow Before God by Papabirb 2018-12-05T19:56:43Z

this was hectic and entertaining lol I was not very good at all. The graphics were cute and the whole thing seemed well put together.

Body Smasher by cqcumbers 2018-12-05T21:44:34Z

wow, this was inspiring lol great work. There were a few puzzles my big dumb brain couldnt sort out but I had a lot of fun trying to get through them.

Gears by DJH 2018-12-05T18:06:32Z

This was very well done considering you only had a weekend. I'm impressed. The camera was a little frustrating at times and hitting Alt in the web browser removes focus from unity lol so Idk if you had another camera prepared, but I couldnt use it. Anyway, really impressive, I gave high marks.

Machine Godz by Beardmage 2018-12-06T19:30:54Z

dude this was fucking SICK. As above, the sacrifice at the altar could be more clear. If you got this far in the weekend, I'm sure you'll think of something cool ;)

Everything was incredible, one of the best games I played all jam. :metal:
