LD39 — Running out of Power

Station by khofez 2017-08-03T09:06:28Z

Hi, guys!

Rates and explanation:

Fun: 2

Hard to say something because the your gameplay looks not finished.

I tried to figure what to do running around the level for a few minutes, but all that I find was robots with strange behavior. I can shoot them but it cause only a sound effect. After some time one of the robots become rarely shoot in my character.

I don't know what bars on the HUD means as well.

Innovation: 2

As well hard to say because of unfinished main gameplay mechanic. At least art looks cool and original.

Theme: 3

Whatever you wanted to do it a have good theme support.

Graphics: 4

Graphics are really good!

Some robot animations and shots looks weird. But location and the character itself are great!

Audio: 2

You have a good soundtrack but it is too quiet. While some kind of unpleasant electric noise is very loud.

Humor: 2

Graphic style with a light taste of humor.

Mood: 2

All good in this mood comes from graphics. The game not finished yet.

Overall: 2

Generally - guys, you made a great job. Yes, it's a bit sad that your project is not finished, but keep going, I will be happy to see it working correctly.

With such a graphics you can make a good production project. :)

Shekateka by dietzribi 2017-08-04T08:15:18Z

Hi, dietzribi! Really great Compo entry!

I like your idea, art, and enough polished level design! It is an amazing work. Nothing to say! It is intuitive and really fun to play!

If you will develop this idea, add more puzzles, make a better art and polish everything it will be a great production game! :)

DraBot by gil4 2017-08-03T03:31:34Z

Hi, Weasel Сoin :3

Great LD entry, especially art!

Rates and explanation:

Fun: 4

The game have a pretty simple mechanic, but I see that you tried your best with the balance of it in tough deadlines.

#### A few points I think shoud be changed: 1. Player controls feels uncomfortable when you try run out from enemies.

This feel may disappear if enemies hitboxes will be reduced. Hitboxes here are really big.

Also for dynamic gameplay it would be better to have a bit faster and agile character.

2. Sometimes enemies spawn on your place and kills you. It's a frustrating death because it is not based on the player's lack of skills, just lack of spawn point knowledge. Here you can add some VFX on the spawn point right before the appearance of an enemy.

Innovation: 3

Nothing really new with mechanics. But the idea, art and setting are pretty and have an element of innovation in themselves. :)

Theme: 4

Theme is carried pretty good by setting and gameplay.

Graphics: 5

Solid 5 :) Graphics are just great, nothing to say!

Only want to notice that it may be cool to add change position animation with 1-2 frames. But not sure, current change position looks good by design.

Humor: 3

Funny idea of an energysucking robot and graphics looks funny as well:)

Mood: 4

Generally game feels good first of all thanks to the graphics. Sound effects picked well. With game design polish it will be completely great.

Overall: 4

It's a great LD entry! Visual and code polished well! Still lacks some balancing and it is great that you know this. :3

Good job :3

Rush by Shinmera 2017-08-03T10:04:43Z

Hi, guys! Can not launch the game for now. Downloaded x32 and x64 win versions, both crashed right after the launch.

I would like to rate you game when I will be able to play it.

warrior machine by kanatos 2017-08-02T03:50:20Z

Hi, kanatos!

**Hey, fix your description it's "Z" for jump in your game, not "W".**

Rates and explanation:

Fun: 2

Game is pretty, remind me about super old games I played on emulator. You did some level design work, and part of level design decisions are not bad.

BUT your game have no point actually. It's one of the main game design things. Your player just chilling around. He have no exit, and he even not receive any score. He will just die in some time and no way how good he interacts with your game. Making a platformer pointless is a bad game design practice.

With no point in the game, your level become a pack of separate level design decisions with no connections between them.

Also your game have a big bug - you can walk through any wall if you try to.

Innovation: 1

Absolutely nothing new, very minimalistic platformer with a death timer on your character.

Theme: 3

It's pretty fits the theme.

Graphics: 2

No great pieces of art, but your graphics fits the retro style.

Audio: 2 Pretty good retro sounds. Only three sounds for all game, and no soundtrack, but I like this few sounds. They also fit retro style.

Humor: 2

That was funny to meet only one moving enemy in all the game XD

Mood: 2

Controls and level design feels ok. Sounds match visual style.

Overall: 2

The game is pretty. Idea match the theme. And you got the retro

But it's too small with no point, and need a lot of decisions to be done to become better.

Anyway you did some job according to your skills and it's great! Waiting for your game on the next Ludum Dare with a better realization.

Kingin' It by JoshyOshKenoshi 2019-10-13T21:27:43Z

Hey, played your game a lot!

Wonder why I can not rate it. (UPD: Oh it's from LD39, lol xD I don't know why I see it in Smart list from LD45)

Maybe it is not much of code or art, but your scriptwriting is absolutely majestic!

I see you were inspired by Reigns? But I think your script leads in a bit different direction. And I really like it.

1st play - won in 9 days by full respect.

2nd play - won in 3 days by full love.

And after many plays, I finally managed to win with two bars filled.

It was a real challenge and it would be nice if such a result will have a rewarding text at least.

You are great narrators and you done very well!

Lantern by Kaban 2017-08-04T00:13:10Z

Hi, guys!

Your game is great! Checked it, played a few rounds. My best score is around 80.

What I can say? It's not a hard challenge, pretty simple gameplay idea, remembered me "Nintendo EG-26 Egg" :) But you fully completed this game, guys! It's great that you took a challenge you can reach.

Mood and Graphics really good for this game. Audio carefully picked to keep the atmosphere.

Good job! :)

Manual Mech by Mikeliosus 2017-08-04T13:05:41Z

@aurel300 Thanks a lot! :)

It is so encouraging and informative to watch someone playing your game! :3

Actually it was not a trap. You needed to set up lower power on the hydraulic engine and make a smooth jump right on the platform without hitting a level roof. :P

But thanks to your video I can see clearly that it was a too hard element for such an early moment of the game!

Also if u want to tweet us, use @Mikeliosus @Evgeni_Shudra @Anglainko

Manual Mech by Mikeliosus 2017-08-05T21:09:23Z

@mickeyg Thanks for detailed feedback! Very helpful and informative!

About level 2 - to pass the turret pit you need to not fall into it at all. To do it you need to pick a right angle (3 times press "Space" while holding "A") and jump forward, over a pit.

Desert Rush by Taras 2017-08-22T15:59:21Z

Hi, Taras! Passed your game) Good LD entry! :)

Fun: 3

I see you put a lot of features in your game. And it's great that you did so much (shield on a buggy, buggy turning points, a bit of level design, 2 kinds of enemies, 2 kinds of guns) in tough deadlines!

But for now game lacks some balance and fixes of basic things. 1. Strange angle of a shots feels and looks clunky. 2. Shots are too slow. The main trouble is when I miss a shot I don't feel that it's my fault. I feel that shooting mechanic itself is uncomfortable. To make it "feel more controlled" by the player you need to fix shot angle and raise speed of a shots. 3. The map is really big and there is no point for it right now. 4. It's not intuitive that I need to defend the buggy. Maybe there is a kind of a valuable stuff inside? But I didn't saw any notices about this. It also a bit strange that character dies when the buggy is so much slower then the character, and there is no logical sense to defend it.

Innovation: 2

Nothing innovative here. But it's not a clone of another game, or i just don't know the game :)

Theme: 3

Simple theme usage, but you get it)

Mood: 3

Feels good, but still need some balance.

Overall: 3

Overally a good entry! Great job for one person! :)

Saito's Transgression by Kapricorn Media 2017-08-02T10:44:56Z

Hi, Kapricorn Media!

I finished your game. Guys, you are awesome! I like your art so much! :)

Here is my rates and explanation:

Fun: 3

Carried by art, your general gameplay is not really intuitive. But a wires connection moment was good :3 It's a bit uncomfortable that I can not return into wizard body in a moment. I needed to return after connection of all the wires.

Really not intuitive was when I needed to burn down Saito. It's not intuitive so much, that I was close to the thought that it's an undone part. First my action - I tried to fly in a tunnel above the head with red eyes. Intensively tried a few times until was completely sure that it's blocked.

Innovation: 3

Nothing really new in gameplay mechanics, but I can not mark you less then 3 on this graph with such a great graphics, guys XD You graphics, setting and plot have an element of innovation in itself.

Theme: 4

The theme supported by the plot and it was done greatly.

Graphics: 5

Indisputable 5. This is awesome. You guys, have a great professional artists in your team. And all of this was done in 72 hours? Oh my...

Audio: 5

What I can say? Everything is awesome. Guys, I had goosebumps! On a jam game! It's just awesome.

Humor: 2

This game have kind of an atmosphere with a light taste of humor in the dialogs with the parrot. But generally your game not supports the humor graph. And I think it's great.

Mood: 4

Mood is awesome. Setting + sound and music design is awesome. This combination looks great. I want, to mark your game 5, but can not because game design not completely match your art and sound. But anyway it's an awesome job.

Overall: 4

Game is awesome, lacks game design decisions a little bit.

But this graphics! Oh my... It's super awesome!

Powerless Miner by MajamiLTU 2017-08-04T13:41:54Z

Hi, MajamiLTU!

Finished your game. It is really cool! Impressive that you did it solo for Compo!

Appreciate your level design work! :) But I need to mention that it is really not intuitive that game continues after the light turns down. Thank you for making a detailed description and a walkthrough, it really helps!

THE STORY ABOUT THE ROBOT THAT WAS ON LEVEL 1 WHEN SOMETHING HAPPENED by Mesuko 2017-08-03T19:12:50Z

Hi, Mesuko!

Cool project!

I like this funny graphics and an audio game start)

Jump mechanics are pretty hard, and it looks like I am a bit lame with this game XD Passed something like 3 levels, then didn't get how to pass a fast orange wall. LDJam 39 2017-08-03 22.04.19.png

Levels are hard and it looks like they lacks some mechanics explanation. I still not quite sure how the robot leg position influences jumps and is it influence at all. Also recommend you to start with easier levels - make platforms closer to each other.

It will be very good if you give someone to play your levels and watch how they are playing. Then it will much easier to make the level design decisions.

Better to have less levels, but tested and polished.

Anyway a good project. And it is solo! You did a great job! :)

THE STORY ABOUT THE ROBOT THAT WAS ON LEVEL 1 WHEN SOMETHING HAPPENED by Mesuko 2017-08-04T00:19:09Z

@mesuko You are welcome! I am happy that my feedback is useful for you :)

Torch Boy by FloBar 2017-08-02T09:31:34Z

Hi, FloBar!

Good entry! I finished your game. Here is my review and explanation of marks:

Fun: 3

First of all screenshake makes everything better! :) Remembers "Super Crate Box" very much) Cool charge effect. Don't know why you opt-out from Mood gragh. I wanted to mark your mood 4. It's pretty good.

Why not marked higher:

1. Level design is pretty hard, repetetive and monotonous. I think it could be better if you try to desynchronize your spawn points. Make spawns a little bit more frequent and place platforms assimetrically. It will make your level less monotonous. If you want to keep the hardness, you can raise cage HP. As result you'll need to stay under the cage more time. This is hard even if spawns will be more frequent.

2. The charging effect is pretty. But from side of game design - why you display it like an aura? It's a bit confusing game design decision when aura itself cause no affect.

3. Controls are a bit uncomfortable for a classic platformer. I think better to place jump on "W" or "Space". And if you decide that second hand should be used for shots - you can place them on arrows

Innovation: 2

Super Crate Box pretty similar to your entry. But you used a few other mechanics like charging and a key cage.

Theme: 3

Theme fits well.

Graphics: 3

A pretty pixel art. I really like it.

Audio: 2

Good sound for charging and shooting, but no soundtrack and jump sound is loud. I playing all games in headphones, and jump sound hurts my ears even when I turn sound low.

Overall: 3

First of all - a great entry, man! Yes, your game have a few weak points, but you made everything together and working and this all by one person in tough deadlines. I can not imagine what you can do if you would have more time :)

Tibet Quest by hawke 2017-08-03T23:24:54Z

Hi, guys!

Finished your game! Lot of work was done, and it is really good, but on my opinion it lacks playtesting and game design fixes.

Stucked on this moment for a long time and closed the game: TIBET QUEST by rapter - Google Chrome 2017-08-04 01.35.35.png But then opened the game second time a little bit later and figured that I need to jump and attack the scroll.

On my opinion there is a few main game design problems which should be fixed:

1. **To kill everyone** you can just hold "F" (defense key) and quickly repetitive click on "Space". Or **just click "Space" really fast** during the run. This point removes any challenge from the game completely.

2. **Really hard to figure how to destroy spawn points on statues.** To make player feel how to destroy spawn points it will be enough to implement an animation of spawn points taking damage. Because for my first two runs I did not figured out that I should attack scrolls. For all the scrolls before the statue I thought that deactivation triggers when I running through them.

3. When you can not figure out how to destroy spawn points, **frequently spawning units with repels on spawns** becomes really frustrating. It can be fixed by placing at least a few spawn points on start of the game with bigger spawn cooldowns. This will make a clearer understanding for the player how to interact with spawn points from the beginning.

Also you can just make a platform near the first statue spawn point and everything will become pretty clear. platform.png

To summarize - it is a great job and it is finished. It mat become better, but despite my recommendations, I really like it! :)

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Blobville by Erkberg 2017-12-26T18:59:34Z

Hi, passed your game! :)

But I not reached additional point - 20 blobs, too hard XD

Reached 18 but then they dropped to 13 again.

It is really fun and super polished for compo.

Everything done really cool :) I like your balance, animations and a pinch of humor)

Looks cute :3

Also one of the blobs was horizontal, is it supposed to be so or not? XD I still don't know but wanted to notice, maybe it would be useful)

Randomly Relentless Rumble by Frederika 2017-12-24T20:02:32Z

Nice entry, passed the game :)

Game still really lacks polishing because of the battle mechanic, it is not comfortable and really fun. To pass the game I avoided most of the enemies I met.

Also, I catched your idea, but as for me, entry is weakly connected to a jam theme.

Anyway it is a good job :) I like that you created a lot of weapons, and some of them was fun.

Babies! Babies! Babies! by Local Minimum 2017-12-26T19:43:29Z

Omg, this is super creepy. First play it was fun, but every next play it's become more and more creepy.

Maybe I am too impressionable, but I need a brief break after this.

Yeah, but general idea is funny) I hope you had as much fun as we making our game. We also have a bit cruel conception, but not so much I think XD

Invasion by mennchen22 2017-12-27T22:00:54Z

Hi guys! Nice entry, a lot of work done!

First of all need to notice one thing that is super important, I think.

I re-launched your game a few times and every time I clicked Space on Start, program become "not responding".

Only after 3 re-launches I gave it some time to stop glitching.

Then I realized that any loading in this game shows that program is "not responding" and lasts really long (~60 seconds).

BTW it's not my PC problem for sure.

Ok, and as for game itself, when I was able to play it, it was pretty fun)

About ingame troubles: 1. For the first few minutes I thought that I can move my screen only left-right. 2. A little bug occurs when new weapon unlocked - a sprite of an old one remains on the map.

In general - great entry! I reached level 7 at the end of the game)

Remembered me a bit about good old shoot em'up - Moorhuhn :)

Robox! by ted 2017-12-27T20:54:12Z

Really cool entry! I liked your beatiful graphics and animations! Game is super polished.

The only thing - first play I have not checked the game descriptiona and played LD version, so it was a bit unclear that I should move boxes out of the fire. When I started the play it was obvious that I should catch them, but when amount of boxes raised I thougt that I need to both drop them and burn to make a score.

But then I checked your description and instructions in post LD version and realized the truth :)

Mr. Capital! by fluidvolt 2017-12-24T17:29:45Z

OMG THIS IS AWESOME! Man, it is a super game, and it is very cool that you did it for compo) Your idea, jokes, gameplay, level design, soundtrack - everything unites in a great little project :)

Only one little moment - it was a bit uncomfortable to control the character, looks like he "slides" a litlle bit. But anyway even this was easy to get used to.

I love your work) I passed the game and listened to soundtrack on the end screen for a few minutes writing this comment) Thanks for the game!)

For me - your game is a compo winner :)

Loot! by atmospherium 2017-12-24T18:17:50Z

Good entry :) I think I passed all the content XD

I like your humor, and saw your comment that you also did a challenge for yourself which is great! Completing challenges for yourself - is a main part of a jam conception, so you did it right :)

Also it is very fun to look on your game from a theme perspective. "More clicks you did - more time you lost" XD

Actually I not really like clicker games because they take Skinner box as a main gameplay mechanic.

And your entry have an ironic overplay on this genre which is great. :)

Collateral Damage by almost 2017-12-24T17:07:53Z

Grat entry for compo!

First few levels of guns was very fun. I wish to see there tons of enemies spawning from every side, it would be awesome shooting them with high fire rate :)

Also funny idea to make uncomfortable weapons which hits obects you should defend.

I Just Hate My Fans! by Avocadosan 2017-12-27T22:25:40Z

Great entry, guys! A lot of work!

I liked your visuals, your game is pretty polished!

But during the paly I met a few troubles: 1. A few times I accidently clicked on a space on the loose screen and returned to menu. It will be logical to change bindings of "Space" and "Z" for this screen. Because player clicks "Space" really frquently. 2. A few jumps was pretty uncomfortable. 1st and 4th jump over a pit on the first level.

In general it is great and music really fits your visual style, I liked it)

Oh, and funny VOs :)

Cost by D-Studios 2017-12-24T18:37:26Z

Checked. Like many others said - the game is super slow. I hope you completed a challenge for yourslef, which is always great on a jam.

From the game design perspective - recommend you to show your game to a potential player and view his reaction and how he playing. It helps a lot to understand wich parameters will be kindly met by the wide audience.

A Hero's Burden by muffty 2017-12-24T16:50:02Z

A tremendous work on a jam, guys! It's super cool that you did it!

About the game itself - so much text on every step making this a bit boring. I understand that you want your players to feel the main character. But with so much text and slowly progression through game it feels like "narrative forcing".

I think it will be much better if you fully consentrate on a narrative side or on an action side. Because when you playing action part - you form some expectations about action gaming for yourself, but then you meet narrative part which prevails over action part - it feels contradictory.

Also I don't really get the depressive narrative, but it's an individiual moment. If you deliver it in more polished way it will be great.

This just a notices I want to leave if you want to turn your game in a startup project.

But anyway for now it's a jam game, and for jam game it's a super great work! So much polishing of your idea in 2 days! Art looks awesome :)

Scraps by gustavo.christino 2017-12-26T18:21:48Z

Hi, guys! Big work for a jam!

Want to notice a few things from my playtest: 1. Starting comics is unclear. I completely did not understand what you tried to deliver. If you add at least a little sentences along with images it would be great. 2. Character start to roll over in unclear situations. Also when it rolls - controls become really broken. This physics issue makes gameplay uncomfortable. 3. Here is a kind of fatal situation that reboots the game. In this moment uncomfortable that you have to wait some time looking on a comics and tutorial again and you can not skip them. 4. Any argumentation behind the not-respawning layout? Why player should pay during a bunch of tries for his starting mistakes? If it was your idea game really lacks a lot of chekpoints.

But of course I understand that everything can not be done in 48 hours :) And It's really cool that you did this! I just want to tell everything I noticed because it's honest and useful if you planning further development of the game)

I like your animations :) Looks preety smooth as for game jam.

The Big Nom by Pixel Lifetime 2017-12-24T19:46:48Z

Guys, it is awesome that you made such a huge work on a jam. In general - I liked your game, even passed all the content and reached the castle with a lot of cakes :)

But it was a bit frustrating on a few moments when it was really hard to understand or do something. Here is a list of frustrating moments from me: 1. I haven not seen that "E" - is an action key anywhere. Kind of explanation should be placed near the first table (in tunnel, on the side where you will interact with it). 2. It is pretty ucomfortable to interact with tables. Sometimes you simply can not drop them. 3. Also are here any argumentation behind the table visualization? Why it's not boxes? It's uncomfortable to place table legs on the buttons. It will be more clear if you would use boxes. Box will better visually deliver mechanic of interaction with this object. 4. Final part really lacks a savepoint. When you ate a very uncomfortable placed 4 pieces of the cake and passed the door.

But anyway it is a great entry! Looks really good :)

Wisp by arrigo 2017-12-27T22:54:52Z

Hi, guys! Checked your game, reached the 7th floor. Nice entry!

Want to notice a few moments: 1. Game becomes kinda repetetive, I was already a bit boared on the 7th floor 2. Also I did not know that I can swith the light level with Q/E buttons during my play XD I cheked helped only after a play. It will be really good to pu this on the first level.

Until I realized that the light level can be changed I wanted to ask "why did you not highlited the stairs as you did with the key?", but I think for now this question have no point XD

Actually was a good balance decision)

In general - your game is pretty polished and it is a great entry for the first game jam! Good job!

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Let the Bodies Hit the Floor by Calmurion 2018-12-06T17:17:03Z

Hey! Nice entry!

General idea similar to the game "Life Goes On: Done to Death".

Maybe graphics and music are weird, but it's representative. :) I liked your gameplay, some interesting level deisgn ideas present.

Also, I thought I will hear a famous song from Drowning Pool as a soundtrack. XD

Anyway, I liked it. This game is really fun!

Hey! I tried to check your entry, but "LD45.exe" do not open, it shows system errors asking me for MSVCP.dll, ucrtbased.dll, and VCRUNTIME40D.dll.

Mad Mans Vengeance by Tommislav 2019-10-08T14:40:14Z

@tommislav Now my antivirus declared war to your project, but I got over it and finally played it. :)

i like this screenshake feature. :)

The story is interesting, but it is not changing whether you use any variants, I think? I can not consider, tried only 2.

With 10 soul points at the end was the first try. And dropping some soul points been the second try. And it looks like no difference.

Anywat nice little entry, hope you achieved your goals! :3

Hey!

It is so impressive!

At first, I did not get this and was going to quit, but then I read the help and realized how actually I should play.

And it is absolutely awesome. I spent much more time than I planned to, but it is just because of your entry is super engaging!

Well done! Hope you will develop this idea further!

Hey!

Played your entry, it has pretty funny graphics, I liked it. :)

A game has not much gameplay, but I see you were creating a basis for a bigger amount of content.

Anyway, good job! :3

And thanks for playing my entry. :3

Skeleton Quest by mahalis 2019-10-13T13:36:24Z

Hey! It's a really nice entry!

Quite original.

If it would have a little bit more content and more variable gameplay it would be an interesting prototype for a full game.

Art is well polished!

Great job! :3

Passed your game and it's great!

Really liked that ending. xD

The general idea is pretty original.

I am not sure, maybe I cheated a few levels because it is possible to make a bird killed right above the goal, and when it drops dead right on the need place I possessed its body. Not sure is it by design, but anyway it was fun.

Awesome work! :3

@druvsaft Hey! Thanks for your feedback! :3

It's a nice idea, but tbh this gameplay was a result of trying to make a mechanic from one of my concepts. But cause the final result pretended to be too complex I needed to cut it down in scope of the gamejam. So I would try to complete my original idea.

Anyway thanks for your thoughts, I might use them. :3

Ended up with 200 points.

Sad that you were not encouraged by the jam. If you can make such a smooth polished little project taking it not serious I can only how great stuff you might create If take it seriously!

I will be happy to see you're in action on the next jam! :3

Sorrow Quest by Adam Saudagar 2019-10-13T14:30:42Z

Hey, guys!

Passed your game!

Nice entry! A pretty classic view on a turn-based puzzle.

Art is well polished.

It would be really nice to see a little bit more of level design. Looks like your mechanics can handle more.

But anyway, well done! :3

Hey!

Passed your game, and it's great! This reminds me of Evoland.

Would not post a screenshot, cause afraid of spoiling the experience for others. But I ended up with 197303 points.

I will agree with others, and actually it was something I planned to write before reading other comments. But required points after getting a bow and after getting enemies might be too big.

Anyway, it's a great entry. You did a lot!

Great job! :3

Hey!

Passed your game, and it's a really nice puzzle.

Light your way out by Suchista 2.png

Interesting mechanics, I like it.

The amount of level design is really nice as well. I think it fits good the amount of mechanics. The game does not feel too long or too short.

A mysterious atmosphere works well. :3 This soundtrack is really good in the creation of an atmosphere. Maybe some sounds are a bit loud, but they do not knock out of the immersion.

I like your design. :3

Well done! :3

This camera thing was like "Wow"! Will be interesting to play something realesed with such feature!

Liked your entry! :3

The Scout by Griz 2019-10-07T21:20:14Z

@griz Yep!

Don't know how actually turning sprites feature will show itself on a bigger project, but such rotation of top-down camera can definitely have nice outplays.

Cheater by Roke 2019-10-07T22:15:02Z

Hey! Good entry!

Some angles still not polished, but of course, they are, it is a jam game.

But to provide a "playtester feedback", cause it might be useful, I'll point them out:

- When you stay on platform very edge you kind of can not jump, am I right? I used to it from the first catch and never did it after I saw this. It looks like unnecessary or unfinished feature.

- Rocket thing is really not similar to other enemies' visual style. First time I thought that it might be a power-up and tried to pick it up.

- /music automatically launches after /enemies even if it is already launched.

My best score was 10500 I think. The game said that I am awesome. :3

In general, I can say that this is not only a good entry, but you are also really good at creating a mood. And a full game with such an atmosphere can look really interesting. :3

Sheep Keep by zubspace 2019-10-11T10:53:52Z

Hey!

Played your game and it’s a really nice entry.

Had some fun. :)

The game have randomly generated levels, isn’t it? Or are they kind of looped?

Because I already performed a sheep genocide and looks like I am no closer to the end. xD

Briefly checked your LD44 entry and can I say that you really raised your art level. Congratulations on achieving new goals! :3

By the way, thank you for reviewing my entry. :3

Survive in Neon lights by HakierGrzonzo 2019-10-13T15:53:08Z

Hey, guys! A lot of you! xD

Even when we participated with a crowd of people, we did not get to 10, I think it's definitely a record, do not remember more on a jam entry. xD

I tried it like a real man and I think I get it, but my computer did not. xD

After a certain point game becomes super laggy and barely possible to continue.

By the way, when I played without any tutorials I did not get what Supply Depo is doing. I already checked the description after play and looks like it does not work.

Also, it was really a game-breaking bug that makes impossible to upgrade buildings on certain tiles. I think it always occurs for tiles where a building was destroyed at least once.

But a game was nice, for real. I played it for some time, and I think if you polish it more, and add more content it would be a really nice tower defence.

I was not getting bored with your art and music. Despite the bugs, it feels really nice!

Also, I think the decision of creating a tower defence game for the jam was really challenging.

Well done, all of you! :3

Here is a picture of my massacre. xD

Hellion: The Legend of Jeff by Mad Brokli 2019-10-14T12:29:58Z

Hey!

Very nice entry! I see you really know what you are doing! :3

Still, need gameplay polishing, prices are a little too high.

But for sure more polishing was nearly impossible to perform in the scope of a game jam.

Would like to see the development of your idea. :3

I placed 4 idols, 1 cookie, and 2 turrets. Spent some time on this and. It was my tiny piece of farming paradise. But then I was distracted by something and was killed by one enemy. -_-

So I not able to share a screen.

Anyway, I had fun! Well done! :3

The Legend of the Empty One by SpicyPaper 2019-10-13T22:06:38Z

Hey, guys!

I passed your game.

The_Legend_of_the_Empty_One_by_Spicy_paper2.png

General idea is great, and it looks like a really tons of work that you did making such a lot of enemies with different behaviors.

And this inventory system is really great!

But to be honest I was frustrated during the gameplay because of the not very polished core. Feeling of big clunky character, and those units rushing from spawn points or sometimes spawning right on the character's spot.

Level design and position of invisible spawn points feeling uncomfortable.

Because of this little things game sometimes just forces you to lose.

But, it is my opinion and even with such moments, I think you did a lot of great work. I think if you polish the core more, it would be absolutely awesome. And I believe if you would like to do it, it will be an easy task for you.

By the way, I should agree with Sciman101 - "The art of screenshake" is the ultimate stuff. I love it so much and recommend almost every game designer I know. Here it is:

Play Nothing45, a free online game on Kongregate - Google Chrome 2019-10-14 14.11.53.png

It is really really nice, but have some lightning problems I think.

I loved that shooting sound. xD It was like an old school comedy fragment.

Also, I tried to get as far to the right as I can.Thought I would find something there. But looks like nothing really changes. Maybe I did not reach the point?

Anyway, general aesthetics and mood are very nice!

Great job! :3

Nothing45 by StickyGames 2019-10-16T06:55:25Z

@stickygames Oh, this is nice idea, and I get it.

I meant another thing when mentioned lightning problems.

Sometimes lightning laggs. Show you whole the road in the middle of darkness, or flashes frequently. I meant that.

@papu-kweh Thank you! Yep, making walls to prevent falling was an easy task, but I completely forgot about it as I had not reached a level design stage at all. But it is a quick tweak, I should have done it.

Regarding the mouse speed, I will consider it in the future. As I mentioned in another comment, I always used such mouse settings and just constantly forget that it may be a problem for others.

@ellaris Thank you! Oh, regarding the pool, I even tried to make normal water :D My goal was not to use anybody else's material for water, so I abandoned the task as too time-consuming.

Monosnap Yet Another Game About Digging A Hole 2022.png You did well, bro. You did very, very well.

First of all, wish you all the best on the tough way of game development. Sometimes, it is really hard to do what you do; a career has various moments.

But I really believe if we do something really good what resonates with a lot of people - it will be valued.

Marketing is still a thing, and you should understand what and why will be attractive to people in your game concepts, how to show your idea.

I think if you do well, you will get appropriate results.

Still, personally, I love digging into various game ideas that performed worse or better, but it is a part of professional deformation.

Despite my interest, I can not recall in my mind when game design was flawless and still the game was unsuccessful. Something is always a bit off or not in the interest of the target audience, or tedious, or over-sophisticated. As a game design consultant, I always was able to pinpoint such stuff. At the end of the day, the game can be just released at the wrong time and fail from marketing side or become good too late after betraying players' expectations earlier.

We just have to learn from our mistakes over and over.

I hope you will feel better soon!

Hey, played your game I loved ideas and how much you were able to perform i such small amount of time Monosnap Sk8terBoiiii 2025-04-11 15.02.28.png I got the stone and is it is undroppable in current version I was respawned on the second respawn point with it in hands - but was unable to jump back to the top.

When I played I originally planed to say that those unpredictable spikes are not a good idea, but than I noticed a button on the floor and understood that originally you planned to make it noticeable just was not able to polish enough.

I would also mention that if you make anything like safe spot (for example where you can put the crest) make a bigger platform around. It will just prevent your players from unpredictable behaviour. For example I had dying screen 3 times in a row always, and it is not a big deal, until you are on a very small platform. Give player some time to get back used to surroundings after respawn. After respawn there is always at least a few seconds of confusion. Even if you targeting hardcore this would never hurt.

Anyway, you did great! Nice job

Super BAD Boy! by basic_eagles 2025-04-13T13:08:30Z

You did really well in such a small amount of time.

I would recommend a few things if you planning to build a full scale project out of this one: - The game should be much more dynamic for the vibe you are delivering - Character should be more responsive and covered with various animations - I would not reccomend to apply force while enemy shoothing at you unless it fits very good - When enemies noticing you - there should be a clear sign (even if they are out of your screen), it is much better if enemies are in you vision when noticing you. There is kinda two approaches - one-screen levels where you can see enemies and they will shoot at you on direct sight or you should give player a time to adapt - Obstacles should have better visibility. - If you making such a shooter game I would strongly reccommend to allow player shooting while walking backwards, or just rotate the weapon 360

Anyway, you did well! Hope you will develop this one even more! Good luck!

@n-feofentov **Thank you very much for attention to our game!**

**It makes us so happy that you liked it and even explored the whole content! :3**

And thank you for your feedback!

Actually we did hitting animation right after the end of the jam, and going to make and an additional screen for those who collected every star right ahead in postLD build. Will publish it really soon. :3

Planned to do this right after the jam, but we was really burried with our work.

Really useful remark about the monsters standing close to the passages!

We have found only one case and will fix it in postLD build as well:

trouble.png

**If you have noticed any other troubles of that kind, we will be grateful for your info!**

Yeah, bug with platform placing is really hard to be fixed in scope of a jam game, so I will not make any promises on that.

Will definetely check your game soon! :3

Zomball by n.feofentov 2018-04-29T17:03:47Z

Hey, good entry :3

You picked a nice scope for a jam and handled it pretty good!

One thing I want to mention about the audio - desynchronized ball sound looks a bit awkward.

I earned 40:6 in the easy mode. Lost in the normal one, but there was an epic moment - 3 point ball reached the hoop on last second when character was already dead. XD

Dancing Club Bloodlust by SpaceMonkey 2018-05-15T21:16:40Z

I played it after the rate time, but really liked it)

Still lacks a bit of polishing on rythm part (no mistakes punishment, and a bit bad tracking of input). Also would add at least some meat at the end, king was a lie :(

In general - really funny game!)

Soul Sword by Raiyumi 2018-04-30T15:23:45Z

It is an aboslutely awesome game!

I loved your entry very much! Every aspect of it. Gameplay, art, sounds and music making a great symbiotic mix together. It is actually the game I wanted to play. :3

Thank you for the great experience :3

Here is my win screen:

http://take.ms/9Btab

Only thing i would change is controls, I would re-bind them on AWSD+Space. But that is super minor.

Also some small bugs should be fixed:

1. Sometimes certain bullets losses their speed and ricochet off my hits 2. If some loot flies after me and I will jump to the next map, loot will fly out of the screen

But these small bugs not ruin the gameplay and are absolutely understandable for a jam game.

Actually I liked this game so much that I even would be happy to work on something like this. :3

Hi! Nice entry, completed 11 recepies :3

Actually it was quite hard for me to understand the gameplay, I think it is because generally I am not a fan of JRPG genre.

The hardest problem for me was to understand how to craft complex recepies like this one:

screen1.png

Spent some time until realised that after one action an object appears in my list and I can do something else with it.

A few times tried to act every action of a complex recepie taking a new ingredient every time.

But when I catched the idea game became pretty fun! :)

Also art looks lovely and you added a really good soundtrack to support the spirit of the game. :3

Overwhelming by Ziovoxxer 2018-05-01T14:38:36Z

Hi!

Nice entry but I was unable to check it more then a few minutes.

Somewhere at the middle of the second level the game lagged and caused a blue screen of death. Anyway who care about optimiation during the game jam? :)

Actually the game is good, you did a really nice work.

I do not think that genres you picked are really incompatible together. At least they are already combined in Portal, but anyway you did it in your own style. :3

Also watched Ben Pearson playing your game, is that a Riverdance video hidden in the wall? xD

Slime Garden by Flameo326 2018-05-01T09:41:59Z

Hi! Pretty nice and very ambitious entry! :3

Big world, some different slimes. Looks nice!

Rather simple battle system and I can greatly understand you on this. :)

Every time on such a jam game lots of us put more effort to build the world around the mechanic than to development of a basic mechanic itself, forgetting that the basic mechanic is a most important part which critically influences on perception of the game world.

But as I said, greatly understand you on this! Building the world is just much more interesting! xD

Also for jam and moreover for compo it is actually nice polish of a basic mechanic! But if you going to continue the project your battle system will definetly need more variety.

As other people said the game is also grindy right now, but maybe it was a part of your idea of mixing 2 incompatible genres.

Talking about the theme - RPG + Metroidvania are not actually incompatible genres as for me. UnEpic is actually a successful project with such a mix. It is a Metroidvania with levelling system, inventory, quests and other RPG-alike stuff. Check it out, if you had not yet, I think you will like it.

Generally I liked your game, it is a pretty nice entry. :3

Here is my win screen:

http://take.ms/04WuK

After I finished the boss, I came back to the room where tons of slimes of different color spawns. Wanted to check if there are any additional content I may accidentally skipped.

For this time my level was high enough to kill them easily which boosted my EXP dramatically. So I ended playing on level 105:

**Great job! :3**

Beat Warriors by Von Vista 2018-05-01T15:21:00Z

Hi, good concept here! Really cool for the first Ludum Dare!

I reached a score of 29, but I think I would get a better record if the game will react correctly to my input. Looks like sometimes game just do not listen to my input.

Also speed of the music sometimes changes randomly. Do not know if it is a part of a bug or a part of the conception.

Maybe a problem with music speed and keylisteners will be fixed if you use activation of your main functions (like object movement) in FixedUpate() and keylisteners in the Update(). Actually I am not a developer but I met this trouble really a lot. So, maybe my advice will be useful. :3

It is a really nice mix of a genres for the theme!

I would really play your game more if it will become more polished because I liked it :3

Good job! :3
