Great presentation and I enjoyed the pacing between combat and choose your own adventure type decisions. Also the story nicely tied back into the theme of the jam! I really admire the visual effects and models!

Your default settings is set to Very-Low (I don't know if it is on purpose) :P
Do I need to saw how awesome sound effects, graphics, weather and environment are? I think I don't... Congratulations!
Chapter 1: Your character is facing to the camera, okay, that is good so we can see him. But I tried by instinct to move down instead of up because the "character is facing the way I should go".
I played 3 chapters, overall it's a pretty impressive game for the time you guys had. Not the time of game that I like . It's more like a table of RPG, I prefer fast paced games but there is no way to tell how awesome this game is, congratulations.
Also, if you can, try my game :) It's for local multiplayer, but you can have an idea what it is about playing alone :)

Oh wow... I'm in awe this was created for the jam! You guys did an amazing work. The game is extremely well polished. As mentioned before, the pacing is great and not to mention the visual and ambiance that was created.
The visuals and audio are spot on, it nails the theme, and I have new personal goals set for the next time around! It's a perfect length, and the animations where nice! I'm looking forward to playing through it again to try out the other decisions!
Visuals, audio, and design are amazing. The characters are superbly animated. The pacing was slow for me but I love the choice mechanic and would absolutely play something that came from this. Absolutely amazing what y'all have put together in a weekend!

Presentation was on another level.
Choice mechanic within the action was unique and done very well.
I liked that there was voice acting.
I did laugh when the guy blew up placing the trap at the door.

Its very well polished and pretty amazing.
I did have one game breaking bug though, i was once knocked by the ghost and the tree was blocking the view of the tutorial text, i couldn't read what it said so had to restart.
Other then that pretty smooth sailing.

Really good narration, but the game is to shoort. A really good base for a next game

What an awesome game! Or a base for a even more awesome full game. Enjoyed it very much, voice narration is really well done.
As gameplay goes, only thing weird were collisions in mid attack, if I got attacked in the middle of the swing I got teleported behind everything, otherwse it was a great experience.
In the middle of the cutscene, where you are introducing your companions, I thought it would be cool if camera showed them as you named them, but as I understood the premise of the game, I wasn't sure, if it wouldn't tamper the atmosphere.
Anyway, very nice entry!

This is really good, the mood that is set in the beginning is really awesome. the voice acting is also really fun to listen to! combat is a bit weird but the choose your own adventure style decisions are really fun!
Great mood, the gameplay is pretty lackluster but it's no big deal as that is not the main focus. Definitely a different kind of game. Good job!
I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Great atmosphere and I liked the focus on the narrative and choices. The gameplay itself could use work but I don't think it was the main focus in this case anyway. Also, my name is Jordan so I was naturally biased to let the children die and save myself  My only criticisms (which are very minor) are that the narration feels a little bit slow, and the outdoor environments seem just a touch too dark (which could be a gamma/monitor issue).

Really nice presentation. And it's interesting that you fit the theme in the narration instead of the gameplay.
I got a bug, not sure what caused it, but my player won't stop rolling down and to the left, game was sadly unplayable. Such a shame since it looked so promising! I did check all the obvious stuff, game wasn't getting any input from me

oh congratulation! Nice art! Can I follow it also on indiexpo? Do you have a page? This looks great! Good luck!!
Nice game, great art and story telling. Great job!
Amazingly much you've done in the short time period of Ludum Dare! I think this game was amazing and the only change I'd ask for is to allow the player to skip some dialogs if the player wishes to do so, otherwise, amazing!

Great game, nice storytelling and graphics. It's a pity that it's so short. Waiting for more. :)
Insane that you guys pulled this one of in the time of the jam, the graphics, audio and overall design and idea are so great. Love the little sequences and the menu, really nicely done.
Movement is kinda unintuitive, but usable.
When I tried to re enter the Necromancer Chapter I encountered a bug I suppose, he casted his spell, the kids died, then nothing else happened except for I could still move around in the room.
Hope you try to polish a little more, this is a great game =)

@Bloodless Tukan: Thx but the next cutscene will trigger after you stay near the necromancer. @everyone: Thank you guys for all your kind words and we are so hyped to do somthing like this again or maybe make it longer and polish the hell out of this.^^ A little hint there is a second ending for all people who are curious.^^
The game seemed interesting visually and it's pretty impressive, but the story didn't really draw me in. The narration felt long and drawn out, but didn't really convey much of a story. The player already knows what to expect in a 'hero's story.'
Amazing art and pretty good narration. The battle gameplay itself could be a bit improved (there isn't feedback that the enemy has been hit and the movement feels a bit sluggish), but its overall a very nice experience. Good work. = ]
Great atmosphere, and the kernel of a genuinely fun narrative experience. The combat feedback could use some tightening, but seeing those weary little folks huddled around their campfire was a treat!
really impressed by the amount of work you pulled for this jam, dope work. Don't have much to say that the others have said already, but I would def emphasize some better player feedback on combat!

Great job, it is a cool game, with nice narrative. I feel the combat could be best with a better camera control. The mechanics of decissions brings the theme very well

Nice storytelling and voice acting, seriously, i'm sure it has been a huge work to do. It felt a bit slow for my taste, but nice job overall.

You opted out of graphics, I'm guessing because you used assets from someone else, which one did you use? The game is fantastic, the best I played this far.

@lestat yup, that's correct. we used a third-party asset pack. forgot the name of it. maybe @muffty will tell us :)

@Lestat we used Assets from Synty Studios and Archanor:

Nice game! Just need some feedback when you hit a monster and it's perfect to me!
The game is really nice, the storytelling was done well, voice too. Amazing!
Keep up the good work!
A really superb package, ideally long for a compo game.

Cool idea, I like the idea that there are not good choices, but I didn't really feel like my choices had any real consequence to the overall story. It's amazing how my you got done in the time, but I'd have like to see a few more nods to the choices you made in earlier levels (even if that meant the levels were longer but there weren't as many). The atmosphere was great and the story was well delivered. I'd love to play a longer version if you're team decides to keep working on it.

Wow, great job on the voice over! Really made the experience better. It really gave me chills at some points. A really great game, don't stop making them!

was nice to see a storydriven game for a LD entry. Using provided assets and focusing on game Design and Sound is a good approach in my oppinion. I would suggest giving the creators of the assets some honor by writing them in the description. But overall great entry. Keep it up!
Wow this was amazing. How did you manage to have time for such a polished and complete game? Everything is cool; having voice acting, the sounds, the aspect, the effects, narrrative, gameplay... This together creates a great experience.
I just think the controls were weird, with the character always going to the left. Overall great game really, congratulations
Game is a bit short but keeps a fairly steady pace. The game-play itself is pretty basic, but the mood makes up for that quite easily. Couldn't quite tell if there really was much use in blocking (especially during the orc fights), and there wasn't much indication of how effective your attacks were (no real feedback on hits like a health bar) aside from the small recoil enemies would take when hit that could easily be confused with hits by your allies.
Well done! When I saw the green ghost attack from the priest's past, I felt spooked. When I had to choose between defending the children and my teammates I felt tense. If you continue to develop this game, when I read the interstitials at the camp, I wanted to get to the moral of the story quickly. I pressed Space and Enter keys but didn't skip any text.

This is amazing. The game needs some tweaks gameplay-wise (for example, in the combat, as other comments mention) and the visibility, but the narrative is quite well done. In the end, I was tense with whatever decision I took, as I knew that every move would have dire consequences. It's great to experience this dark side of a hero's life.

As others have said, the graphics/audio/presentation of this is insane for a jam game. Great story. Without giving away too much - I was a little disappointed that there didn't seem to be a path that took the story...in a certain other direction ;) Buttons to skip text would've been cool, especially on your 3rd or 4th run. I encountered a bug when selecting chapters where it seemed like I got stuck right after making my first choice?

Really amazing game, can't believe you did it for this short time, great job! My feedback is speaking can be fast a bit, more interactive, no more to complain about! I really like the decision making and how well planed it is!
There's a lot to like here and admire how much you've achieved in such little time. I didn't particularly like the fighting and the game could have been actually a bit better without it.
Spoiler Warning: When replaying the orc cave the game probably bugged out when I sneaked to the captain and chose the trap option. I could do nothing but run around after the door had exploded. I also wish the ending would be different based on the actions taken. This seemed like the 'branching paths' led to the same one even if I picked all the good options. In any case, great job on including the ability to restart from any part and be able to select all the decisions made upto that point. That's super useful, especially for a jam game.

I liked it,especially the audio, but it took too long to defeat an enemy in my opinion.
Wow. Can't believe you did this in a weekend :D I know it was a small part of the game, but the rotating text choices was a cool touch. Thanks for sharing!
A tremendous work on a jam, guys! It's super cool that you did it!
About the game itself - so much text on every step making this a bit boring. I understand that you want your players to feel the main character. But with so much text and slowly progression through game it feels like "narrative forcing".
I think it will be much better if you fully consentrate on a narrative side or on an action side. Because when you playing action part - you form some expectations about action gaming for yourself, but then you meet narrative part which prevails over action part - it feels contradictory.
Also I don't really get the depressive narrative, but it's an individiual moment. If you deliver it in more polished way it will be great.
This just a notices I want to leave if you want to turn your game in a startup project.
But anyway for now it's a jam game, and for jam game it's a super great work! So much polishing of your idea in 2 days! Art looks awesome :)
Really amazing and polished game. Love the story and voice-overs in this game.
Good show! Nice voice disguise (the FX). Since it's the jam game, I can see that most of the work was put into the visuals. But it's cool that the game is mostly narrative, and is a very solid base (even a prototype) for some next big thing. Also understand why you couldn't make more music (time!), which is obviously needed for different locations, as well as to end the game with Hero's seppuku or something. But, finally, that's the game with it's story and actual ending! Thank you for the jam.

Lovely narration and graphics! I included it in my Ludum Dare 40 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFjCDu50TQs
