LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Space Shoot by quill18 2017-12-05T03:20:07Z

For a two hour game, this was really fun and impressive; figuring out the throttle mechanic (that's the scroll wheel for those who don't know) doubled the amount of humor and fun (and play-ability). Definitely shines with a friend to play with, well done, Quill!

Chores Simulator!!!! by DragonFyZex 2017-12-08T00:55:46Z

Would like the trash hit box to be a bit bigger, and maybe level time bonuses, but lots of fun!

The Montiest Haul by Mike Cullingham 2017-12-07T21:59:16Z

The hand-drawn raccoon is adorable, I loved the art and would have liked to see more of it. An in-game tutorial or starting screen with controls would have been nice, I also would have liked to see more doors and goats. Thanks!

Shopping Spree by Devastus 2017-12-07T22:30:04Z

I had a blast playing this the music was great as were the sound effects (I liked the shaking cart noises, would have enjoyed a squeaky wheel here and there). I would have liked if the steering felt a little more intentional, but the hectic nature was a large part of the fun. Awesome entry!

All Day I Dream About Eyeballs by uvwar 2017-12-06T03:12:19Z

I like the music, and the concept is wonderful! I wish you could have pushed it a little farther and made it a little longer!

The 'Big Bang' achievement. by NORRIMO 2017-12-07T22:58:20Z

Audio was great, graphics were adorable, didn't really see the connection to the theme, and controls were a bit iffy. Had a few bugs where the other player popped outside the "universe" and my health bar broke. All in all, 'twas good fun.

The 'Big Bang' achievement. by NORRIMO 2017-12-13T03:13:24Z

@norrimo The inverted controls I think threw me a bit, the option to change that would be super cool!

A Hero's Burden by muffty 2017-12-05T02:30:21Z

The visuals and audio are spot on, it nails the theme, and I have new personal goals set for the next time around! It's a perfect length, and the animations where nice! I'm looking forward to playing through it again to try out the other decisions!

Pajuu - Always With You by Samurai Spark 2017-12-07T22:39:18Z

I loved the art (foxes and scarves and winter weather!), the music worked super well with the mood, it was a very well polished package. <3

SHADOW by niwraD 2017-12-08T00:09:45Z

First, grievances: It felt silly that continuous exposure to light felt less dangerous than brief multiple exposures (maybe a health bar of sorts would help?). And that's really all I can come up with for complaints. edit: the speed of the monk by the far right button was super frustrating.

Everything else was amazing! The art is great, I love the animations, the dithering in the light with the chromatic aberration looked rad, the music and the sound effects worked well with the feel of the game, and I enjoyed the difficulty. Combined with the aesthetic, even though it was hard it made me want to try again and figure it out. Probably spent an hour trying to beat it! Congrats! edit: After maybe two hours of head bashing I beat it. Yay!

You can't have too many cats by mollekake 2017-12-08T00:29:31Z

Cat pathing just like having real cats, 11/10. That was a lot of fun, well done, would be fun to see different levels.

Evil Money by interpol 2017-12-06T02:11:28Z

Definitely a tough game, and stressful in a good way! I really like the button/holding the button to restart levels/exit the game! I liked the intro cutscene, would have liked to see a swankier menu screen! Very well done!

Stealing Cubes by VengeurK 2017-12-05T03:02:55Z

Sounds work well, and I dunno what mood it establishes, but it does it so well. The visuals are crazy satisfying, and it makes me want to try a bunch of new stuff! Dang!

Enjoy the Flowers by Ethos 2017-12-07T22:13:05Z

I flipped my bee car over and drove around for half the game upside down. 7/10.

The walls to keep you falling off the map could have been closer to the edge, some flower petal sound effects might have been nice, and a sky box/some clouds. The driving was satisfying, I enjoyed hovering off the mountain, wish I understood more how it related to the theme? I really enjoyed the art style with the simple bee car and the drawn 2d flowers that followed the camera!

Gem Rush by Joe Sycalik 2017-12-08T01:28:42Z

Definitely shines when you have multiple people playing, the sounds are satisfying and I like the acceleration of the walking and the bit of air you get when you run up a ramp!

Coin Collector by dafunk 2017-12-05T20:57:40Z

It was fun, I'm really glad you guys had a web build (it made it super easy to check out). I like the procedural levels, and the encumbrance from the coins! It would have been nice to have a little more button feedback in the menu (have them change color/size when you mouse over them).

Mother Earth: Failed Planet by NoahRo 2017-12-07T23:24:06Z

I won in the 1400, killed about 63 people, destroyed maybe three or four buildings? I like the game for its simplicity, would have loved some tunes to go with it, and some 8bit-ish sound effects for the earthquakes and tornadoes. Also would have liked if the year timer would stop after the win condition is met for screen-shots of when you won!

LEAF WARDEN by MarkoPoloDev 2017-12-06T02:00:52Z

I really dig the sound effects, graphics and the overall feel of the game! I wish the raking was a little more satisfying but the laser definitely makes up for it.

LEAF WARDEN by MarkoPoloDev 2017-12-06T03:14:02Z

@MarkoPoloDev I don't remember if there was a raking sound effect, but that would be sweet, just a nice distorted square wave sorta sound, and if it moved leaves a little more predictably? Or at least I didn't figure out how to make the raking work for me. :D

Crowd Control by PolyHatSteve 2017-12-06T01:54:15Z

I think the simple graphics work really well for the game, I enjoyed the music, but maybe would have liked to see/hear some more audio cues!

Dragon Blood by Wafiqsha 2017-12-07T23:08:36Z

Like many of the others, I wish using the sword was more satisfying, would have liked more feedback from arrows hitting enemies and sword strikes. A shield option would have been cool too! The music and effects that were there were nice. I really liked the art in the intro! Nice entry for the the time frame given!

guys I NEED TO PEE by ehe 2017-12-07T23:17:37Z

The art was great, as were the animations. I like the color palette a lot! It worked well with the music to capture the feeling of the awkward party scene. I enjoyed the background details, would have liked some more audio cues and/or animations to indicate the need to pee and drink. Congrats on a rockin' entry.

LD42 — Running out of space

Cash Grab by KunoNoOni 2018-08-13T00:38:43Z

Congrats on making a game in all of 12 hours! Sorry your first idea didn't work out, but great job on having a game at the end of the weekend that embodies the theme with graphics that work and sounds that fits. Complex stuff ain't always better. Words.

Path of Excess: Hoarder vs Horde by quill18 2018-08-13T00:21:13Z

Looking forward to sitting down and playing it for a while to see how far I can get, I enjoy the graphics and the sounds and I look forward to checking out how many name variations I can find. Wish I could have caught more of the development!

ENOCH'S SALT by KRP 2018-08-13T00:18:55Z

Wasn't expecting some of the, uh...graphics? The story? But I liked it, the sound design was good, the graphics really fit the mood, made for a lovely little game. Would have enjoyed it even if it was longer! Congrats, kickin' entry.

SWORD1 by Lawrence 2018-08-13T00:31:58Z

Well done, I enjoyed the fast pace of the game, felt a lot like Hotline Miami: difficult but achievable and low stress when having to make yet another attempt to beat a level. Nice scope, great difficulty curve. I liked it!

Warehouse Mayhem by RahmKota3 2018-08-15T01:05:43Z

Controls took a second to get used to, and I didn't realize power-ups were a thing for an embarrassing amount of time. It's fun, the music is chill, the sound effects made the gameplay satisfying. The pacing was good, I'm proud of my 1 minute and 20 second best score though I think I could stretch it to 2 minutes if I played it some more! Job well done!

Adware Attack by AdonisDevs 2018-08-15T00:31:15Z

Audio was amusing, the visual style seemed appropriate for the game; felt like something I might have played on Newgrounds or Kongregate 10 years ago. Congrats on the entry, will say clicking on the x's felt a little inaccurate sometimes (I'd consider maybe over-sizing the hit boxes a little bit?).

Overflow by antoined73 2018-08-15T00:41:41Z

Art audio and visuals all felt really well suited to one another and came together to make a really cute little game! Any game you play and feel like you want to play more of is a good game in my book! Job well done!

L: An Interactive Mystery by Cercle 2018-08-15T03:27:07Z

Slappy goose was compelling but I have to dock it for not embodying the theme better. I dunno what everything else was surrounding it, but... Jokes aside, that's incredible, I would love to see more content from you guys because that was beautifully written, the art was the perfect vehicle, there was way more polish and emotion in that than many games I've spent money on. Cheers, I'm blown away!

DeadShot by Incin 2018-08-13T00:54:58Z

Wish the difficulty reset, made for a confusing couple of runs that were crazy hard from the start after my first attempt. Still was a lot of of fun, would love to try a downloaded version so I wouldn't have to fight with the buggy web version stuff. The audio was a good fit for the graphical appearance!

Shrink Runner 42 by whoisninja 2018-08-15T00:15:01Z

Cute game, simple which is good for an LD game. The lack of a replay button really killed the fun factor. I wish the ball responded a little faster.

Meager by Andrew Friedman 2018-08-13T01:20:17Z

This game is tough as heck! Couldn't really get past level 2, my high score was 72, and you're not kidding when you said the impossible level was impossible. Congrats on your ludum dare entry, though I wish I was good enough at the game for the "running out of space" element to become more of a concern! The graphics and audio were 'minimalist' but that works well for a ludum dare entry and they suited one another nicely! Good job.

LimitedLootHunters by rhewid 2018-08-13T01:52:54Z

The art is simple, the mechanics are a little confusing at first, but it's charming! My orange dude is basically invincible currently! I don't really understand why the guys behind him kicked the bucket so fast, but who cares, he's the most kick ass hero in the realm.

Lemon by TroyD 2018-08-15T00:52:59Z

The commentary is great, wish I had been less focused on not dying to listen to it more closely! The graphics, while not overly detailed were very readable and didn't distract from my lemon-quest. I like the item-get noises. I think the best thing I can say is that I would absolutely play more of this. Cheers.

Personal Space Invaders by The_Icy_One 2018-08-15T00:20:27Z

Scored 39500, fun little game! When I started my ship randomly spun in circles even when I wasn't holding down anything, and occasionally it was move forward on it's own later in the run, or stop moving while I had the 'w' key held down. Just a couple minor quirks! I wish the pace was a little fast, and maybe the debris piles bigger/smaller play area to really hammer in the 'running out of space' theme! All in all good job!

Protect the Core by Samuel Kriman 2018-08-13T01:35:21Z

Graphics are indeed rad, the sound design was minimal but satisfactory. It's tough as hell, but in a good way that makes you want to try again and do better! Wish it was slightly more apparent that you could sweep the laser, figuring that out (thanks for the tip btw) made it much easier to get farther along (but not much farther). Well done!

Anxiety by TontonPizza 2018-08-15T01:12:32Z

Really good job at creating a very mood-based game. The audio really sold the anxiety-raising as the screen narrowed. I will say for me, it wasn't necessarily a 'fun' game, but that doesn't really detract from it being a really solid LD entry. Good job!

Shrinking Out by SoyerTek 2018-08-13T01:58:10Z

10 seemed to be my highest score, wish the the curve allowed for a slightly longer game! I really liked it, my one thought is there really seemed to be no reason to not hold down shift the entire time. Would also maybe have been nice to penalize touching or bouncing off the sides? I dunno, but I enjoyed what I played! Thanks!

TooooClose by Alexandre2BI 2018-08-13T02:16:32Z

I really liked the chill music and simple graphics (though they were messing with my head after a bit!). Wish I was better at it so I could have gotten farther, I also would have liked if it counted the level you were on and not the levels completed? Congrats!

Get Of That Damn Island by LaytanL_ 2018-08-13T02:07:30Z

Rapidly pressing the buttons was a bit of a pain, but I DID manage to beat it (with some help). The graphics and audio were simple but cute and fitting for a relatively straightforward game, which did a good job of embodying the theme! Congrats!

Quickly! nospace by Fabio 2018-08-13T00:46:53Z

Theme: check Graphics: Check also Did I play it several times? You bet yer sweet bippy I did. As far as I know I'm the current record holder. So go me. Thanks for sharing! Would have loved some sound (it might be there and I missed it), I'll probably go back and try to get to level 10 later.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Super Gun Baby Run by KunoNoOni 2018-04-25T01:21:28Z

Solid little game, really enjoyed the graphics and the little audio loop, everything fit together well! Really liked the enemy death animations. Would have liked to see another level in the background with a parallax effect as you run. Slightly more obvious leveling up (flashing character/"LEVEL UP" voiced). Really enjoyed the voice effects, lets you know what's happening concisely. Running could have increased slightly faster maybe? I second the palette swapping (both for characters and enemies as variants). Sweet ass entry.

Number One Take Out by Kappa.B 2018-04-28T19:06:57Z

I really hope you keep working on this, would love to play it again with some audio. My one suggestion would be add button feedback (make the buttons more obvious) and maybe reorganize the health and stat info so it's not so out of the way on a larger screen. Visually this has been one of the most stunning and aesthetically pleasing games I've played for LD41!

Guerrilla Gardening by randomhuman 2018-04-28T18:12:51Z

Would love to see this in the future with a little more polish, it's super cute, love the color choices, the sounds were kickin'. "Meow" says Oz.

Bullet Break by JCMonkey 2018-04-24T23:36:21Z

Thanks for being upfront about the genres you included! The wall collisions are a little funny (heh, they're clown walls, funny..get it?). The scope of the game was immediately realized within the first two seconds (which isn't a bad thing, but some variety later on would have been cool, either power-ups, move the clown's hands, etc). Maybe some of that was in there further than I got, I lost at the third level because I was short on balls. Cool entry, I dug the graphics, really liked how the balls went behind the clown hands. I don't really recall how the audio was, brb...the audio was suitable for the games atmosphere? Pretty sweet entry overall!

Datesweeper by Tygrak 2018-04-23T01:37:05Z

The music and the graphics were fun, nice genre mix up!

BunkerDefense by UnlikelyNomad 2018-04-28T19:52:55Z

@Sharks Having like a sticky note on the side of the monitor for some basic commands and maybe enemy info is one of the things we didn't think of until after submission time, but definitely would be something I'd like to see if we take another stab at this.

Text-Gen Platformer by agentparsec 2018-04-24T23:24:23Z

I like minimal audio/graphics combo, everything tied together well. Wish the text parser had been a little more flexible with commands (one letter shortcuts, slightly more inuitive controls i.e. walk in direction your facing, typing r or l to face in that direction). Difficulty was good, not so hard as to be discouraging but not so easy you can beat it your first try (but it doesn't keep you from checking out the majority of the game's mechanic). Kick ass entry!

Jeff From Accounting by Almax 2018-04-28T16:37:12Z

The visuals were on point and super polished, as was the audio. Really liked the concept, congrats on a kick ass entry.

Golf with Guns by Issac 2018-04-28T17:51:25Z

Glad there were only 6 waves, the sixth wave kicked my ass (I will beat it later tho). The graphics were simple but did the job, the audio was good, enjoyed the sound effects. It was hard enough to be tough but fun enough to keep playing! Congrats!

Dungeon Scrawl by ildfuglen 2018-04-24T22:51:01Z

Killer mix of genres (literally, I died a lot). Having it being a dungeon crawl game made the typing motivating. The sound effects were lovely, would have loved some background tunes (which is asking for a lot in 48 hours). Kick ass job.

ESC by kittyinthestudio 2018-04-28T18:44:19Z

It's simple and straightforward and that's part of what made it so charming! Excellent compo entry.

Text Card Action Game by DragonZlay 2018-04-27T00:42:49Z

Good call on having something to submit overall, I got a great chuckle out of the text, I'm gonna look forward to see what you do next Ludum Dare, hopefully it'll have similar humor interjected!

Checkmate by aevek 2018-04-24T22:25:29Z

Really enjoyed the game! Not super sure what the genres were (board game/tower defense?) but good job duct taping them together! The music was rad, the controls were fun (the king was my downfall on wave 13), would have loved to see some more elaborate textures/shaders maybe (though the level design was cool, the map was large, and I really loved the stained glass in the chapel!) Kick ass!

Tweet Fighter by iamtalin 2018-04-28T19:16:29Z

I found the game to be a little confusing, but the art was sweet, as was the music! I liked the concept and the humor, would also be cool to see as a card kinda game, so you'd get mouse tool-tips over the moves? I know time is short for making a game over the weekend, but a bit of story mode would have been neat (maybe if you continue working on it?) Great job over alL!

Discorc by rodel77 2018-04-24T23:45:18Z

It was fun, but sort of brief! Wish there were more incentives to keep going, maybe unlock stuff with the ratings, or improve the graphics with the ratings, made the beats harder, etc. It was a fun entry and a cool concept I would like to see further built upon!

Zombie Golf by RahmKota3 2018-04-25T01:00:07Z

Awesome entry, loved the art, really consistent look overall (with the exception of the "golf ball"). The music was pleasant and non-invasive. The pacing was good, and it was just hard enough to make me want to keep playing while not making it easy to advance. Would have been cool to see some more mechanics, but being a game made in a weekend, that's not always attainable! Super fun, kick ass job!

Honest Dan's Trout by Honest Dan 2018-04-28T16:51:04Z

My brain can't handle the awesome and all the mechanincs. Holy shmoly.

My Enemy El Cactus by BlueMirror 2018-04-28T19:29:46Z

That was tough, but I like that it's tough because it keeps you trying again until you beat it (note: I haven't beaten yet, but I want to!). I liked the simple art and the top down perspective, would have been nice to see some car tires and some indication of front/back. I really enjoyed the drifting!

-Limits- By: Sharks by Sharks 2018-04-28T17:15:03Z

It has graphics! And audio! And narrative flow! The pacing could have been a bit better (maybe I did a speed run?). But all in all, nice job for you LD entry! Looking forward to seeing what you get done next time!

Crux Swarm by MarkoPoloDev 2018-04-27T00:22:13Z

Phenomenal color palette, the pixel art was adorable, I enjoyed how the characters moved, and the music was delightful! I feel like this was a perfect Ludum Dare entry in that it effectively showcased all you accomplished in the weekend in a neat, polished and fun way! The concept was rad, and I again find myself looking forward to see what you do for the next Ludum Dare!

Bouncy Bullets by Rohan 2018-04-28T17:04:38Z

Wish the genres being mashed up had been more clear, would have been nice to see some custom UI, but awesome job at having a complete game to submit for the compo!

Cryptopia by mediyaz 2018-04-24T23:09:36Z

You've accurately replicated exactly how much fun mining cryptocurrency is? I'm not entirely sure what your genres were, the music was way more intense than the gameplay (also super loud), the graphics were minimalistic (to the point where I wasn't sure what I was looking at most of the time, maybe include some kind of tutorial/legend/key?). The color scheme was nice. I wish the majority of the games contents were explorable in a shorter amount of time (most people aren't looking for an hours worth of gameplay). Congrats on your entry, looking forward to see what you do for LD42.

Tower Defense Paradise! by Sokuaisushi 2018-04-28T19:46:45Z

Really kinda hope this gets polished up some more, would love to see what a fully realized version of this would look like! Well done!

Gender Circles by EkkoEkko 2018-04-28T17:37:49Z

Wish there had been an option to rate the graphics, because although they were simple I like them! The sound effect were good, it was challenging enough that I didn't feel like I needed to quit out of it and was happy playing until I lost, so props on the fun!

Sadie's Stabby Sword Story by Elowan 2018-04-28T18:25:21Z

Loved the pixel art, the music was chiptune-y and delightful, it was tough, I might sit down with it later to see if I can get past at least the second level. Kickin' entry, love it!

Need for Coin: Island Hoppers by saoi-games 2018-04-25T00:00:57Z

Kind of buggy, but that was part of the charm! Really enjoyed the simple mechanics and RAW acceleration. Was happy to find that the mouse button could control acceleration. Wish there had been a reverse, kind of concerned about the lack of brake lights and license plate, but I guess we really weren't around other drivers and/or on the road. Like the graphics and the checker-board ground, would have liked if the trees were billboarded, and the grass was backwards occasionally. All-in-all, pretty kick ass entry.

Versus Pinball by dandpants 2018-04-27T00:32:12Z

Pretty tidy little entry, Dandpants! It was simple, but it's a whole game! Congrats! I like the minimal graphics, the pinball machine seemed to control nicely, a little more acceleration on the Player Character would have been cool, also some sounds, but overall nice!

Also, it might have been nice to have a single-player mode with either role controlled by AI to increase the playability for most people.

Robo TD by Bangather 2018-04-25T00:23:19Z

Really enjoyed the entry, liked the minimal music loops and graphics, and the open ended strategies for completing the levels. The bugs added to the quirky charm! Would have been cool to see some more intricate models and textures, and music variation but time is definitely short when you're doing everything yourself! Excellent job!

Ludums Kitchen by tommohawkaction 2018-04-28T17:28:54Z

Really enjoyed the game, the character art and animations were cool, really liked the background pixel art and the customers. Would have enjoyed some more sound effect variation and maybe a sprint option for running down your ingredients. More cooking steps would have been cool.

SmackPaint! Combat Painting with Ross Bob by GregWLyons 2018-04-25T01:31:56Z

This was cute, and a weird mash-up (and therefore a great entry considering the theme). I appreciate that in the spirit of Ross Bob, aside from running out of time, there was no real pressure or threat, and the animals were cute! I had fun with the splatter painting with the inspiring voice of good ol' Ross making sure my pictures were full of joy and cheerful tiny trees. The music fit the game well, and I appreciate that it wasn't super long, which is perfect for a ludum dare entry! Awesome job!

Monstrously Hunky by CraigFortune 2018-04-28T18:00:54Z

Look forward to spending a little more time exploring those hunky monsters, I really loved the art, the music did set the mood, would have liked a slightly more thematic setting instead of "plain tile box". Also slightly swankier UI and a volume slider would have been cool.
