I couldn't quite figure out how to keep the fire from catching me. I tried both collecting all of the coins and collecting none of them. Is there something I'm missing?
Anyways, the audio was pretty good, and the gameplay was enjoyable.
It'd be nice if you could restart a bit quicker after you die. I'd also like it if there were some other method of movement other than just straight up jumping. Controlling your height or slowing down might be nice.
The only bug I noticed was that the flamethrowers didn't seem to do anything.
Good work though! Too bad your artist was sick.
Not bad for your first Jam! I do have to say I was a bit confused about how to be faster than the wall. I think the goal is to avoid the coins? That seems to be how I got the farthest. I liked the music, it was very upbeat and felt fitting. Overall nice concept, and nice job!

It's a good sidescrolling. I liked how you worked the theme and it's strangely satisfying being hit and losing coins to get faster. Those guys shooting coins at you, I couldn't avoid them once, and once you start losing speed it very hard to get back. Fun game overall.

Thanks for the feedback! We updated the game description to make objective more clear!
Simple but effective, this game is fun, Gg.
Cool little concept. I'm sure you learned a lot on this one. I like the procedural terrain and I love the soundtrack. But I couldn't figure out how to keep my speed up. It seemed like the fire caught me around the same spot every time.

Thanks! We definitely did learn a lot! To keep speed up you must avoid the coins. If you start getting weighed down by coins you can use spikes to dump them. But make sure you have at least one coin before hitting spikes or they will kill you. To be honest I'm not great at it :(
Oh dang. Alright. I'm sure I missed that somewhere. That's awesome.

Haha, yeah it's kind of the opposite of what you would normally want. We we're just having some fun with the theme.
Good Music! It seems too hard to dodge the coins. But nice procedural gen ;)
Wow, I never expected it to be so difficult to tell my brain to avoid coins rather than picking them up. Fun mindbender :P Pretty hard to avoid the ones that shoot coins at you though.
Good game. Some coins seemed unavoidable tho, and you might want to fix the flame wall since it does nothing.

Nice game! I liked the music and did like the concept. Some of the coins should have been easier to dodge, but other than that, nice game!

Good job for your first jam! Simple but enjoyable, I liked the music.
I liked the twist on normal get the coin games. I was slightly confused at first but I think I understand it now. Overall, its an enjoyable game.
It was fun, I'm really glad you guys had a web build (it made it super easy to check out). I like the procedural levels, and the encumbrance from the coins! It would have been nice to have a little more button feedback in the menu (have them change color/size when you mouse over them).

A nice idea, some gameplay adjustments would definitely make it better, currently too much based on luck for me.

Thanks Nihilist. Would like to make some fixes/adjustments. But wasn't sure about the guide lines for making changes after the deadline so figured we should leave it alone.
@elfcirynn is right the menu didn't give much feedback but that is a quick fix. I thought I needed to collect coins at first and then realized they were actually making things worse.
Good Job for your first jam. This was my first one as well. Not much sleep over the last three days. Rest well you earned it!

Kind of a fun game. Would be nice if you could dodge the coins a bit easier; as of right now, it feels like you get a coin cannon at the wrong place at the wrong time and you get fed coins with no way to recover. The first time I lost (that wasn't to the fire) I felt rather confused as the game kept running and there was little feedback as to what happened. Just making the game pause would be nice.
The soundtrack is a tad repetitive, but the instruments and the melody are fine and fit the game well.
The jumping feels really floaty and making a solid jump would go a long way in making the game feel more responsive and leaving the player feeling more in control. I'll leave a link to a tutorial to making a better jump, since it's something that most beginning game devs don't know how to do and it takes so little effort.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KiK0Aqtmzc The tutorial is for Unity but the logic aplies anywhere. If you don't find the tutorial satisfactory there are plenty of other videos on the topic.
To sum up, it's a fun game for a couple of minutes, the music is fine and fits the mood/style of the game. The jumping could be improved, the game feels a tad luck based and the comeback mechanics are a bit weak, but can make for some exhilarating moments like almost going into the fire before throwing yourself into spikes to get away faster.

@banan Thanks for the feedback! You're right, that's a pretty good feeling jump!

Congrats on completing you first game jam! I like the idea...I just wish there was a reason to collect the coins instead of having to outright avoid them. I did like how you used the spikes to get rid of them.
Despite the little raw graphics, the game was enjoyable and nicely done.

Nice little game you guys have here, not bad for your first Jam. Like most people already pointed out that the movement is a little bit floaty. However, that is an easy fix, and it looks @banan already give you the video that I was about to put here.
Overall, you guys did an awesome job!! Keep it up.

Congratulations on your first jam! This is my first jam too. I arrived here after you posted your description / instructions, so I didn't have any issues with that, like some earlier commenters had. There are a few positives here, that I'll point out. 1) You knew your limitations and didn't try to create something beyond those limitations. That is a good thing. 2) This game is appropriate to the theme, and actually pulls that off in a way that is better than a lot of entries on here, because of the following: you gave people a way to dump coins. I've played a decent number of entries on here. So many of them have a mechanic where the more you have the worse (in some form or another) it is. But, so many of them fail to include a pressure relief valve, so that you can undo having so much of whatever it is. The games that succeed include that pressure relief valve. So, it was smart of you to include that spike aspect. That might seem obvious, that you need something like that (to prevent the game from becoming impossible), but so many game entries on here failed to realize that. So, you have good awareness, both of your abilities and how to use the theme without making the game impossible. I'd say that awareness alone can propel you above half of the crowd. Good job.
Great first Game Jam entry! Who needs an artist anyway? I liked the music and the idea, it fit the theme pretty well. I wish there were more spikes and more coins, it got pretty easy after you figured out the patterns.
