Hey @frittatenbank, just tried the game on web and couldn't figure out how to control the snowmen. It looks like a really cute game but can you add some quick instructions?

Hey @frittatenbank, just tried the game on web and couldn't figure out how to control the snowmen. It looks like a really cute game but can you add some quick instructions?
Cool interpretation of the theme. I also thought it was pretty neat to be able to scale the difficulty of the game by simply resizing the window -- very creative. I found it pretty hard to get very far (I've never been much good at asteroids), but appreciated the abusive remarks the game would randomly make upon death, very entertaining haha.
I loved the detail of the walking sound when you walk over the snowy areas and the little jump back when you fire. It took me a little while to figure out what the hairdryer was for, I kept trying to use it on the snowmen. I think it could have felt cool if it was possible to kill a couple of small snowmen at the same time with the shotgun.
Great interpretation of the theme with really well put-together art and music, which seemed to really convey a consistent mood. The game had some really great moments (the first time you see the monster, walking down the dock, when the 3 sets of eyes start glowing around you). Feels like a lot of effort was put into the progression of the story. There was a fair bit of wandering around in the first half and I nearly gave up a couple times but managed to find the new area that had opened up in time. At first this was a little confusing because in my head, I had already explored and area but now suddenly a wall was gone so I had to keep reexploring areas that I had already been to. Maybe if they evolved more visually then it would be more interesting to go back and look again. Anyway, all in all super well done, congratulations!
Nicely executed robot programming game. I liked the art style of the robot and levels. The UI could have probably used a little more work some spots but you probably made the right choice to prioritize the puzzles themselves. It would have been nice to not wipe the instructions when the robot failed to reach the destination, especially for the levels where success depended on timing.
Very cute graphics and sounds, fun to play though unfortunately the bugs I ran into made it a little trickier (I kept losing seeds somewhere). I kept accidentally clicking the ground to walk around while waiting and applying whatever tool I was holding to that square haha! All in all well done and all of those things you mentioned wanting to fix/add sound great!
Wow, great polish on graphics/audio. Saw a small graphical bug where the door doesn't open for the workers to jump out if there are a couple in a row. Seems like at 109 days the days stopped ticking by and I stopped getting new employees etc. Fun to be able to have a lot of control over what to do with the employees, but it seemed like as long as I did whatever it took to keep them working at their desks, it worked out for the best (even if they gave up and left I can just hire another) ...bit too real haha. Good job!
Loved the little text screens, really added to the mood along with the music. Pretty zany art too. Some animations on the cows would be next level. It was a little hard to tell how I was doing at times and I wouldn't have minded a restart button or something for when I knew I had collided with too many things (at least on the second+ playthrough).
Very creative combat mechanics. Was a tiny bit slow paced at times but I could definitely see it being interesting with a couple more mechanics added. Really enjoyed the art style and crazy attack animations as well as the creative meanings you assigned to all the symbols, which really made it feel like more of a game.
Nice game! I like how consistent the art style and tone are. The first few times I played, I couldn't get the selfie because I thought I was supposed to move the camera horizontally rather than vertically. As other people mentioned, the tutorial in general could have been a bit more forgiving and maybe in general the actions could have time limits that start out relatively easy and then get harder as you progress.
Wow, I never expected it to be so difficult to tell my brain to avoid coins rather than picking them up. Fun mindbender :P Pretty hard to avoid the ones that shoot coins at you though.
Fun idea, the transition is pretty entertaining haha! It did seem like the first part was significantly easier than the second part. Maybe if there were some more difficult challenges/platforming in the first part half it would feel better.
Great idea, for me it seemed hard enough that it maybe have been nice to re-listen-to the music without having to try and pick (when I knew I had missed some), but that might just be my bad ear! Well done.
Fun theme, I felt like the audio all went together well. It seems like this gets a decent amount of gameplay out of two buttons, I had to keep deciding which direction would keep more guys on the train (even though they were hard to control haha!). I wasn't sure how to deal with the guy with the gun.
@Gris I'm surprised you couldn't play it in Chrome, that was our main testing browser for web. If someone wants to let us know what this problem looks like in more detail we'd love to be able to resolve it. :D
I think if we had to go back, we'd pick a less obtrusive animation for the achievement so that it interfered with gameplay less. Unfortunately we ran out of time to polish up the animations more but I think our artist @QcMaude did a great job with what we were asking for haha! Thanks!
Really liked the idea of this game and even managed to match with a real opponent (though maybe it was just you haha)! I wish there was some clearer indication of when I was supposed to be placing my workers and which cards I was allowed to place them on as I ended up doing a lot of trial-and-error dragging. Still, super creative and I'd play again if some of the kinks got ironed out.
I did see a worker on 'Launch rocket' and on 'First player' even though they weren't placed.
This is so great. At times it was hard to hear the voice acting because of all the other awesome stuff going on. Congrats!
Very creative haha, great reimagining of the original game. Is there a way to skip to the next page in the story without waiting?
Super ambitious game and you got so much done in the time limit. I got pretty ganged up on by the AI when the human sacrifices came up and basically got killed repeatedly until the end. Maybe I'm just bad! Nice job overall :)
Hilarious, super original and totally on-theme with great graphics and audio. I found it tricky to control the height, but probably was my fault. Really well done!
Took several tries before I figured out how to control the game (was trying to use keyboard), but once I got it going, it was really cute and original with some nice music :)
Nice gradual introduction of puzzle elements and creative premise. The mood is very consistent and I was impressed by how many different interesting levels you were able to create!
Art and music were unbelievably adorable. Not too long, played it to the end and loved all the different monsters you came up with.
@beats yeah maybe his family isn't the most supportive.. one idea we had was that he forgets to invite them the next year or even just "stops seeing them" even though they're there. Sad either way..
Cute art and music, a little hard to interpret the clues but nice little world!
Very entertaining, you guys did an impressive job of generating so much funny content. Great job of combining generated stuff with handwritten stuff
Great little game, I was a little nervous when I read your description and saw the little capsules, but the puzzles were well done and for some reason I couldn't stop laughing whenever the poor little blue guys took the hit to save the red capsule. Nice job :)
Seems like you're supposed to defeat the enemy spaceships by clicking on them when they get close, use the arrow keys to move, and upgrade your ship as you get more resources? Not sure where the sacrifice part came in as the game eventually froze for me unfortunately. Very cool mood and art style that went well with the choice of music. It's a little hard to click the enemies without accidentally clicking to upgrade or scrap things.
Played this game for longer than I expected, nice job. Took a couple tries before I was able to avoid getting immediately wiped out and I didn't seem to be able to move around the map to see/destroy the enemy base (maybe I wasn't supposed to) and it would have been nice to see the readouts of my resources (they weren't showing up) but all in all really well done!
Nice funny text and sprites, with a good mood overall. I didn't manage to make it all the way to the end. Neat that there was no shooting, just dodging. Well done :)
Pretty tough but fun concept with everything involving money. Nicely done :)
So much content and really funny too! So well done :)
Wow this was amazing. Great interpretation of the theme combined with really good puzzles. I wished I had an undo button once or twice but the levels were short enough that it was ok. The timing ones were really cool, never seen anything like that. Got stuck on stage 8, but I have the feeling I'll be coming back to try again later.
I really liked the concept here, though I had some issues with my programs not saving if I didn't run them. It would be cool if the drones had a "status" that described what they were currently trying to do, because sometimes I told them to do something (like attack) and they seemed unresponsive.
Also would have loved autocomplete on the command input, but I can understand why that might have been too much work! That said, the "docs" section on the right was great, loved that you could run the examples. Would be cool if after clicking the function name (like laser > attack), it also gave a listing of applicable objects to use as arguments so I didn't have to click away to check the name of the object.
The art for the mother and asteroids was also cool.
After a while, the sound stopped playing, not sure what happened there.
Nice trading game, I didn't really get what I was supposed to do from the tutorial, but managed to figure it out afterwards. It would have been cool if I could click and hold the +/- buttons (or buy/sell all of the stock) because by the end I had to do a lot of clicking. I liked the cute art and world-building :)
Very entertaining and difficult -- like others in the comments, I had everyone in the room staring at me. For some reason I had to wahhh for a long time/repeatedly in order to reload but that just contributed to the urgency of the situation. Great graphics and sound effects too, liked the vibe.
@carraka sorry about the confusion there. Single-clicking an item and then a place on the map to use the item should work, and dragging an item onto the map should also work. Not sure what happened when you were running it, maybe some unresolved bugs
I liked your take on the theme as well as the art/music style. Also loved the attention to detail on all the funny little descriptions of the items. There were a couple of properties that I wasn't expecting some items to have but I managed to figure most of them out.
Nice job :)
Nice game, thanks for submitting! Good execution of all the music/art/story :) The one thing that was disorienting for me was having the same word multiple times in a row, but some other people already mentioned that. I thought it was cute that you have to type the mafia's dialogue :P
Loved the attention to detail with things like having the number of minutes left to live always being up to date in the conversations. The fact that you were able to do the art + music as well as the story in such a short amount of time is impressive :) I'll have to check out TIC-80
Pretty funny concept haha. Also thought the choice of music and art was great. I liked the map that you made with the assets, the variety of areas was nice.
I couldn't figure out what to do with the axes and sometimes the babies seemed to escape when I was carrying them. Unfortunately I ended up getting stuck in a wall a few levels in, but had fun overall!
I noticed that sometimes you can see a tiny 1-pixel crack between the tiles. We used to have this problem in our tile-based games until I found out that extruding the assets by a pixel or two fixed it for us. You could give that a try if it bugs you (https://www.codeandweb.com/texturepacker/documentation/texture-settings if you search for "extrude" on this page it gives a little more explanation)
Money shotgun was very satisfying to use, though in the end it couldn't shoot fast enough to deal with the enemies so I ended up running in circles to avoid them :) Nice job!
Nice art and I like the cute music you added. I was a bit confused at the beginning because I thought I was supposed to drag the plants from the pots to the cauldron, but they just disappeared. And then because of the dash between the picture of the fruit and the number you have, I thought it was a negative number! haha thought I was using them up. Maybe if there wasn't this dash and there was an animation of the picked plant going over to the banner listing how many you have?
Anyway I figured it out in the end and had a nice time playing until I ran out of time :) Thanks for sharing!
Really cool atmosphere/art and nice mechanics. The map was way bigger than I expected, which was cool. The walking sound also became a little too much for me by the end.
Managed to get to the last level but couldn't handle those big enemies. I found the art and animations pretty cute and thought it was cool to be able to swap and play as all the enemies too. I wish I could shoot in the direction of my mouse, as it made it much harder to avoid and aim at the same time, but maybe this was in order to make it harder. Thanks for sharing your game!
Found it a little tricky to navigate because of the lack of landmarks but I liked that the light of the torch actually dimmed in the world as you ran out of "power". Nice touch.
Thanks to everyone who played! We really appreciate it.
@marbles too bad you didn't find the undo button between the restart and play buttons! It seems like lots of people got tripped up by not being able to move the boulders after placing them so we probably should have found some time to do that before submitting. Classic too many bugs and not enough time :P
Pretty fun game, managed to reach my destination without any big problems. Seemed like I had positive food production even with my farms turned off which was a little confusing (along with the water issue some other people mentioned). The small size and low contrast of the text made it pretty hard to read everything at first but I zoomed my screen a little and the nice clicker gameplay made up for it. I liked having to balance all my resources to get the system bootstrapped, I think that's an idea that's not explored enough in some existing clicker games, thanks for the submission!
Pretty cute graphics :) I ran into a bug where two orders matched the same burger and then when I clicked one it crashed.. Sorry, it all happened very fast so I'm not exactly sure what happened haha
Great art and music (sensing some 2001 space odyssey vibes in there). Ramping it up with some upgrades and more control over the city building might make it more interesting for longer play times.
Very cute/well executed art style, reminds me of another cooking game :P Took me a couple tries to understand what I was supposed to be doing but managed to figure it out. Wasn't sure whether I was supposed to be doing something with the plates on the left either. Maybe it would work well with an enemy that you're racing against rather than the timer?
Creative combination and cute puzzles. Felt like I had to move my mouse a lot to look around but maybe something is off with my sensitivity. Glad you added the option to skip to the end of the dialogue scrolling :)
