404 error.
Your itch.io game page appears to be missing. I don't see the game on your main page either.
Hey Mark, looks like you forgot to publish ;)
Yep, sorry all, it's been in 'Draft' mode all night. I just published it so you should be able to try it out.
I'm going to bed soon but will be playing other games tomorrow night and will have a copy open in case anyone wants to give it a try in multi-player mode.
Huh, bugs, sorry to the person I just played, did you see the worker on the 'Launch rocket' before it was even available? Also, a worker on 'First player' although I didn't place it... hmm. I'll look tomorrow when I get a chance.
Set up two new tabs, but kinda confused about how to play. :(
Really liked the idea of this game and even managed to match with a real opponent (though maybe it was just you haha)! I wish there was some clearer indication of when I was supposed to be placing my workers and which cards I was allowed to place them on as I ended up doing a lot of trial-and-error dragging. Still, super creative and I'd play again if some of the kinks got ironed out.
I did see a worker on 'Launch rocket' and on 'First player' even though they weren't placed.
Every time I open the game, this happens 1111.PNG
Hey all, I know what's happening, everyone is playing with the same cards (pointer references to the same array instead of copies, doh!). I'll fix today.
@schmavery Yeah, you played against me and then @toast-toaster joined while we were in the middle of our game and saw all our pieces on the cards. I've since fixed that issue, now each game gets its own copy of cards (instead of sharing them).
I didn't put enough time into the UI or the game to make it easy to understand, it really needs animations to show where resources are going and better in-game instructions for the cards.
Hi there,
Wow, multiplayer is quite a big challenge for a ludum dare game. I think you already know everything I'm about to say, but if not it might be valuable: * You should scope better. This was clearly too ambitious. * I didn't find another player online. If you go for a multiplayer you should also provide some bots to play against. Of course this further increases your scope so take this into account. * I only managed to play my first move, so I cannot say anything about the rest of the mechanics, but the part I did saw was not bugfree. Or at least it felt that way. * What is the point of the junkyard? It looks useless? Or does the junk increase over time?
Anyway. Although I think it's better for you if you decrease the scope next time I have to say I'm impressed at what you deliverd here. This looks like a lot of content for a 72h game! Congrats!
@evogengames Thank you very much for the constructive criticism, that's more than fair; honestly, I only had about 8 - 10 hours to put into the game over the weekend and put a few more into it since the jam ended. The UI needs a lot of work in order to be playable by someone who doesn't know the game well (e.g. me).
The junkyard starts out giving 0 resources but randomly gets 0-2 of each type at the end of each round.
I'm online now and will be playing other people's games but will also try and have a tab open with this game in case anyone wants to give a two player game a try.
SOM ESTAO BOM MAS NAO CONSEGUI ENTENDER BEM COMO FUNCIONA A MECANICA DO JOGO
Ambitious! Was totally down to play, but I had no idea what I was doing. And/or my opponent left mid-game. I claimed some cards though, so I got that going for me. Would be interested in playing the bug-free game!
Great game. I love that it's multiplayer. However, it seems every time someone goes to the launch card there's no indidication of whether it's a success or not? Absolutely love the game and concept. Super fun. By far my favorite so far!
To whoever I just played: 'First player' is a toggle (this is a bug) so if you choose it when you are already first player you lose first player status. I was able to hack it and give you the first go at launching the rocket, gg!
@scottgoldsmith The 'win state' is large text over the winning player saying: 'Player 1/2 won!' Needless to say, I had visions of actually animating the launching rocket but ran out of time. If you put a worker in the 'Launch rocket' space and don't win it should destroy your rocket and a worker and the game will continue. I /think/ that works...
@disperse were we playing against you just now? We also did a card game, ours is solitaire instead of worker placement though tempo.PNG
Interesting! I like the concept. I found a bug, I think. It seems that if I try to place a worker on a card where I can afford, say, the aluminium but not the carbon, the carbon will remain the same but the aluminium will be payed despite me not getting the card.
@team-infernus Yeah, I played the first player space to give you the first crack at launching the rocket. (Playing around bugs.)
This is a really neat card game. It needs some balancing (although I feel you did a great job for the limited time frame). Nice job!
@harak Yep, sounds right. I iterate over all costs and only break if one is unmet. It's an easy fix, I can do that tomorrow, thanks!
@disperse We appreciate your sportspersonship
I fixed some reported bugs including: - You now will no longer partially pay for (and fail to buy) components if you don't have all the resources' - The game now ends properly (no more moves will be recorded) - Choosing 'First player' when you are already first player will merely block the space and not toggle your first player status - The hire worker space will only hire 1 worker and will not fill all available empty offices - You will always have at least 1 worker, even if you can't pay them, there will no longer be an end-game state where you can no longer play - The junkyard starts with a random allocation of resources
I also added a game log and a player status message to the UI to make the game a bit easier to follow.
I actually got to play against a real player, and once I got into the flow of it, it was an interesting challenge optimizing my moves over a growing and changing play space. I think it could use a UX pass, especially in regards to letting players know whose turn it is and what moves are allowed, but still an interesting entry, and clever use of the theme.
Hmm, I'm thinking failing to launch your rocket may be too punishing. Basically no way to come back. I may allow the player to keep 50% of all components or, at least, get some resources from the crash site.
I set up the game in two windows, and was playing against myself - but I couldn't figure out what the goal was, or what the effect of dragging things around was. Sometimes the thing I could drag had a picture of an alien/worker on it, sometimes it had something that said "office", and sometimes both. But I have no idea if "office" is good or why I might want it, or where I'm allowed to drop it. I saw numbers going up, but I don't know if it was good or bad.
I think I might be missing some knowledge about this genre of games (it seems other people figured it out!) but I still think a bit of guidance would have been useful.
It looked really interesting, and was multiplayer (amazing for an LD!) - but I couldn't figure it out. I really wanted to though, and I think it would only take a small amount of in-game guidance to make the goals more clear.
Really cool idea. Got frustrated playing against myself, and having the music from both windows going.
@mrspeaker Yes, that's fair. If you haven't played Agricola or other worker placement games before it would be impossible to grok without a tutorial (even with prior knowledge it's tough).
@pellanor In Chrome, right-click the tab and select 'Mute Site'.
Thank you both for taking the time to try it out!
Interesting game but I found the amount of things on the screen at first to be really overwhelming. I did keep playing (against myself) to see how it played out - I think the core idea is good but it needs refining and a gradual increase in complexity. Given the time, I think you did a good job. The music was wicked!
The start of the game was pretty overwhelming but I got through it! the soundtrack was great and this was a really interesting idea.
