I knew it would be a good idea to follow you last LD, and I'm not disapointed! I love puzzles games, and I didn't know a lot of robot programming ones (maybe one or two, and it was long time ago). I like the arts too. Something wrong ? Yep : too short :oP I would love to play more this one. Well done, and rendez-vous for the next LD. :D

compufreak 2017-12-05 20:22

That's a lovely game, I especially like the art design. Didn't like the timing of the start that much, but great game concept.

ham-and-swiss 2017-12-05 20:24

That was a nicely put together game, great job. Learning was easy and well handled. That saw on the last level hidden behind the box was very cruel.

jcmonkey 2017-12-05 20:24

ok this is one of the best puzzle games i played in a long time. there is so much potential with this idea. nice job!!

nander 2017-12-05 20:39

Really fun puzzle game. Well-polished and a nice thinking game. Could use maybe one or two more difficult levels, but other than that, yes, great game!

fis 2017-12-05 20:47

Very polished graphics! I really enjoy games like these, where you can train your spatial abilities :3

leandre-renouard 2017-12-05 20:51

A really nice game. Some enigma made me think a little time to move in less movement possible. I love the character design, it makes me think of a mix of Claptrap and EVE in wall-E

schu 2017-12-06 15:30

Really nice puzzle game! I absolutely loved the sound design particularly for the opening cutscene.

turbulentwinds 2017-12-06 23:07

This really needs a delete button for the code (sigh, I bet there is and I'm gonna sound dumb again). Other than that it was perfect!

codechomper 2017-12-07 02:43

@turbulentwinds there isn't a delete button I kept going back and forth landed on you must get the program right the first time or die trying lol. Thanks for playing and rating everyone!

oniwaka 2017-12-08 02:13

well done. never seen a puzzle game like this!

arly 2017-12-08 05:42

Cute robot model, I like how he has a lot of character  Nice puzzle mechanics, great implementation!

hannes-rahm 2017-12-08 09:03

Neat. Would have been nice to be able to reorder and reuse the commands. But quite well put together :)

jack-maxwell 2017-12-08 21:23

Its a fun game, and the graphics are not bad, the idea has been done before, google did it the other day. But It was made in 3 days and it was fun to play so good work!

gatinmnsok 2017-12-08 21:31

I love the graphics of the robot, it's a lovely puzzle game. Maybe I was playing too well :P but I didn't notice anything of the "worse AI." Nevertheless, the game as it is now is already a lot of fun. I hope you extend it with more levels, but I'm already impressed with the amount of content for 1 jam.

harry-jacobs 2017-12-08 21:33

Love this! Great concept and really nice art and game-play. An undo button might be nice but I really enjoyed everything about this and I'd definitely play more of it. Great job!

cubeeo 2017-12-08 21:42

I like puzzle games. This was a different looking puzzle game. I liked the 3D look. Early on, when I learned that I was going to have to program these steps, I was concerned this was going to get tedious and annoying and frustrating. But, it never did. In fact, six was successfully recycled. Even the final level only took me like 5 tries, I think. (First try, I immediately got sawed in half).

I saw you said you wanted to continue with this after the jam, so here's my thoughts on that. I think it might be difficult to expand beyond the levels you have now without it becoming tedious and annoying and frustrating. It never got to that point here, with the number of levels you have, but I can imagine, if you have more levels and they get harder, it will be hard to prevent that from happening. I think that will be your biggest obstacle to consider. But, good luck. Well done.

schmavery 2017-12-08 21:52

Nicely executed robot programming game. I liked the art style of the robot and levels. The UI could have probably used a little more work some spots but you probably made the right choice to prioritize the puzzles themselves. It would have been nice to not wipe the instructions when the robot failed to reach the destination, especially for the levels where success depended on timing.

tom-schneider 2017-12-08 21:55

As already said, you need a button to delete or undo the last step(s). Otherwise, i like the idea of this game!

chronosv2 2017-12-08 22:07

That was awesome! I had a lot of fun solving the puzzles! My only criticism is that a "remove last command" button (or a delete button next to each command in the program) would make it a lot easier to fix button press order mistakes. I had started to input the commands for a level and realized I had missed over some at the very beginning and had no choice but to send Six off to his demise to reset the code stack.

Awesome work!

annaad 2017-12-08 22:08

This game feels polished and well put together. Overall, I enjoyed playing it. I like the robot model quite a bit (so cute). I would like greater ability to edit the instructions while making them (like a delete option). I'm not the best at rights and lefts so this game was not too easy for me... :P But I really like this type of logical, step-by-step thinking (I am a programmer after all) and I the elements of the puzzles were well varied and built upon themselves nicely. Great work!

patrick-d 2017-12-08 22:18

I really like how the art style and sound design compliment each other, fun puzzle game too.

wolfo 2017-12-08 22:38

This is so good! Congratulations are in order. I loved everything, only thing is audio was a bit annoying at times, but the game was fun regardless.

Great job!

teekeks 2017-12-08 22:58

Fun game, a bit shot tho :(

zeantwan 2017-12-08 23:12

It reminded me of the "Go" series (Lara Croft, Deux Ex, ...). It's quite a fun game ! With solid game design behind it, I dig it !

I didn't see much of the theme, and I thought that the more moves you make, the robot would have some kind of controlled random behavior.

Two features would have been nice to have : - A "reset" or "back" option to change your instruction (in case of *stupidness* or misclick) - Rotating the camera around the game board (it can be a challenge to stop and think about the way your robot moves, but sometimes (because of camera) I couldn't see some of the traps)

Anyhow, really nice game !

weeping-rupee 2017-12-08 23:23

This is one of my top three for sure so far, maybe my favorite. I love puzzle games and this is a great blend of classic block pushing puzzles, quadrilateral cowboy style programming, and Portal style aesthetic and framing.

Pros: - I love the dialogue from the robot at the start AND the credits - Sound effects are great - East to understand but hard to master - mechanics that are deep but not complicated - The choice to not let the player rotate the camera was CRITICAL and you made the right decision! Excerise those spatial brain areas people! -Good mix of different puzzle elements (timing, spatial reasoning, logic) - good tutorial

Cons: - The "dont let your AI get dumb mechanic" should be analogue in some way rather than binary. What I mean by this is that as you more more moves per level perhaps your robot could be more likely to not follow a command or something like that rather than just having it be a game over state basically. I think this would be more fiting for the spirit of the theme of LD40.

Suggestions: - Let me copy and paste my commands for the timing based puzzles wher I know the answer but just need to press play at the right time.

Seriously think about developing this further, please :)

captaindreamcast 2017-12-10 06:28

What I liked the most was how you mixed up real-time traps and non-real-time traps. I hadn't seen that before. I also agree that the static camera is the better choice for this game, otherwise you would lose the entire think-from-the-robot's-point-of-view gimmick and people would just rotate instead of thinking.

All in all, a very solid game, I'd love to have seen more levels, and that's the best thing there is after finishing a Ludum Dare game, right?

tulipekoni 2017-12-10 11:05

nice entry dude! I loved the sounds, game felt very responsible. It would have been fun to move around the scene and watch the level from many perspectives. Good job!

creamybacon2 2017-12-12 01:14

I really liked this one, it was well thought out, and well executed. I'm fond of how you did not make dying a chore; just a quick pop and reset. My only complaint is I wish it was longer which really is not a complaint! Great game keep it up!

jordgubben 2017-12-19 11:35

This game reminds me a lot of a puzzle in the 1991-classic [The Castle of Dr. Brain](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castle_of_Dr._Brain). Only difference is a that in this game the controls actually work.

Good work!

2017-12-26 18:30

Very nice puzzler! I included it in my Ludum Dare 40 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26D5qtoYgoQ
