Finally made it!
So gj guys. Good luck.
That sneaky red balls... :P Great game and the weird feeling of the map it really makes it unique in my eyes :D
Very cool concept and challenging too. Walking inside a sphere is interesting and the graphics are very engaging. Gj! (11 cubes)
I really enjoyed the way the world works in the game. Being on the inside of a sphere is fascinating, and I'd love to know how you did it. Outside of that, the game was incredibly clear, with visually distinct objectives and enemies (and even a mini map!) And even though all the assets were cubes and spheres, the lighting made the art feel more professional and interesting. Well done!
It always felt like something was just behind me. That humming gong sound will haunt me for the rest of my days. The inverted sphere environment was AMAZING.
Sounds work well, and I dunno what mood it establishes, but it does it so well. The visuals are crazy satisfying, and it makes me want to try a bunch of new stuff! Dang!
Good entry. A tip for the next time (or upload). It would be nice if your build doesn't have the name Ld40. If everyone chooses that for the build name you get in trubble or get confused with the downloads.
This is amazing! The way the world moves is incredible. It's hard for me to explain, but it gave me the distinct sense of being on another world in the way everything flowed. I loved looking up at the ceiling! Everything connecting in a circle was really cool. You also accomplished a lot with very minimal sound effects. I got a sense of foreboding whenever one of those glowing circles came near...not an easy feat to make a circle scary, haha. Anyway, wonderful game.
Astonishing visuals for such simple graphics, and the spherical world is amazing.
GJ very nice and simple game. Big WOW for world closed in sphere.
The game feels very polished. Great use of simple components to make a distinct an interesting game world. When the red balls chase you down, their sound effect becomes quite menacing.
Very good job! It's so tensing hearing to red ones coming closer, well done!^^
It's very good and funny. It's funny how this game made someone scared about a ball
level design is really cool on this one! great job!
Very atmospheric and engaging, and great usage of inverted sphere environment. Red ball for best video-game villain of the year!
Wow, this game looks really good and I love the idea of spherical world! Sound effects are nice. Although, your take on a theme is god! Great job))
Yours is one of my favorite submissions so far. Graphics are nice, the game is well-made, the implementation of the theme is fantastic, and i'm going to have nightmares about those balls chasing me.
Wow! I love the movement in the game. I feel like this could make a neat puzzle platformer or something.
Woow such a good game !
What a clever idea! loved it, and can only imagine how interesting this could get. Great initiative!
Nice game, I love the level design, and that sound when the enemy approaches you, it reminds me of the shark movie xD. Have you considered to make a VR version? I think it would fit well. Good job
This is one of my favorite LD40s. The visuals and strange environment are great. Just when I thought I could relax while looting on top of buildings, those spheres evolved and climbed up after me! They seemed to have some personality. I'd love to see this game get developed further.
I really like this, I get scared when those glowing balls of death get close, and you can fire cubes into the distance to pick up later and power down those balls of evil. It is a satisfying game to play with great mechanics. However I do have to say, this game gives me a massive headache, and my eyes feel funny lol. and I've been playtesting our own game with drunk distortion effects which doesn't affect me haha. Don't know if it's the inside out / dysonsphere-esque world it's set on, or the floaty controls. I hope other people are fine with it anyway. It was worth the headache anyway, good work.
Thanks you all for your encouraging comments! That's our first game jam for all of us, and we are really happy to see that you like the game ;).
I also see that many of you liked the idea of being inside a sphere. Since some of you might be interested (like @kapura), i'll try to explain simply how we implemented it!
We did it in three simple steps: - We created the sphere in blender to reverse the normals (so we can see the interior of the sphere). - We added a central gravity with a simple script. (To have the same effect with the particles, we added a central wind force). - We added a script to update the rotation of the moving entities (the player) at each update. That part is important, because otherwise you would need constantly to look up when walking. To do the update, we project the forward vector of the entity to the plane tangent to the sphere to get the new forward vector.
That's basically all we did to have a world inside a sphere. If you have any questions, feel free to ask ;).
