LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Save the Hats by Gruhh 2017-12-06T01:35:17Z

Great game, like the graphics style, and I love the concept of it. it's very hard though. I would have liked a skip button for the dialogue, and I'm still not sure I understand all of the mechanics or how to play properly, so maybe better instructions or something. But nice job anyway.

I didn't really understand what "q" did, until I re-read this page, but it makes sense now. I also managed to cheat the door that says 6 coins, if you collect the first one, save the game and then die, you can keep collecting until you have 6. I'm not very good at harder games like that where it's fast and you have to be precise, but it ticks all of those boxes for people who do like them. I love the swinging mechanic, for a game jam the level design and mechanics seem well put together. Good job!

Love it. Great mechanics with the limited tape and you have to play it a few times and think about it. I build on the ledge area first. Only criticism is it's not really clear when the crate is going to ship off, I can't tell if it's after so much time, or how many stacked parcels before it decides to ship. But overall I really enjoy this one.

Addtris+++ [Now with post Compo Update] by 5you 2017-12-05T23:51:10Z

Looks good, doesn't seem too buggy, I wish the pieces would rotate still even if they are closer to the wall, but love the gameboy buttons and things too.

DUI: The Game! by AfroAnt 2017-12-06T00:03:37Z

Actually quite fun, lot's of nice mechanics in there and some distortion effects. Turns out we did the same sort of thing, but quite differently.

It's a bit hard to figure out with keyboard, but I think it's well put together and fun, like the theme and art is nice.

Make Ludum Dare Great Again by ultimategrinder 2017-12-06T14:52:42Z

Love it. looks good, sounds good, plays good, and it's funny. Could be improved with difficulty levels, the default is a little too easy, you can leave everyone asleep for a little while and then still win. But I really like it. Well done!

Tower of Mana by Pedro Henrique Cesar 2017-12-06T14:59:43Z

Interesting concept, not a fan of this sort of difficulty level. But I can see why people like it. Good job.

Tree Master by Lewis Quaife 2017-12-06T14:21:35Z

I like the theme and the way it works, but I definitely think it should be balanced a lot better, for difficulty, it didn't take me too long to get the "ludum tree", and then it can be sold for quite a lot, after that it's very quick to get all of these trees planted and there doesn't seem to be anything else to do after that. the co2 doesn't increase any more and there's no more challenge. I suspect you probably wanted to do more tree types, and ability to plant more trees, and have the population increase match the co2 increases for more difficulty. If that all kept up, and you could expand, it would be much better. I just tried it without planting any trees, I got game over with a max population of 181, but the co2 level wasn't even half way full, I assume you had problems with the meter. But I like what you were trying to do and I have no idea how to code, so I imagine getting to the point that you are was challenging enough.

Donut Dash by Jordan Neff 2017-12-06T01:22:09Z

Love the art and music, I too would now like one of those donuts. I had some real fun with this game, good job. The mechanics and UI were also very good, with some more polish this could be a very good game. Perhaps, if scaled back, for mobile even. My only criticism is with the controls. The view controls are a bit floaty and get stuck on the edges, and to be honest I'm not a fan of having to rotate with keyboard to get to the bin and the boxes. This could have worked maybe if assigning 3 keys as a shortcut to fast switch between the view areas you need, while still giving the player the ability to look around completely. Or maybe just having the bin and boxes behind the conveyor for ease. Very good entry though.

Town of Overflow by darkgrisen 2017-12-06T00:54:38Z

As an artist who hasn't the fainest idea how to code, I can see how the technical part of this must have been challenging to say the least. I like games where you balance things and manage people, and this certainly does that. As someone going into this blind however, it took me 3 turns to figure out what i was doing, but that was partly my own fault for my distrust of instructions :p. But perhaps less houses to manage would have been better for new players, and the indicators on the houses I feel should have been a stronger colour or colour changing. But I think it's a great example of what can be accomplished in the limited time, and it does it's core mechanic very nicely, well done.

Stealing Cubes by VengeurK 2017-12-06T23:55:43Z

I really like this, I get scared when those glowing balls of death get close, and you can fire cubes into the distance to pick up later and power down those balls of evil. It is a satisfying game to play with great mechanics. However I do have to say, this game gives me a massive headache, and my eyes feel funny lol. and I've been playtesting our own game with drunk distortion effects which doesn't affect me haha. Don't know if it's the inside out / dysonsphere-esque world it's set on, or the floaty controls. I hope other people are fine with it anyway. It was worth the headache anyway, good work.

Too Many Cracks by Pablocg 2017-12-06T00:33:55Z

Character movement was satisfying, you don't get punished for banging into the corner of a wall a little bit, which is nice. I like the graphics and effects, I feel like a map or indicator would have been nice though rather than remembering where they are, and maybe some way to extend o2 like a tank pickup. But it looks and plays very nicely.

Fluffballs by WikidBotta 2017-12-06T01:55:21Z

Interesting concept, love the art and thematically cute stuff. I did fail to understand what was going on the first time I played, but I figured it out. It's quite hard, took me 4 or 5 times after figuring it out. One thing I don't like though is the game over screen's art, simply an unhappy kitty would have been sufficient lol. But other than that it seems very nice and well put together.

Coffee Run by Canaha 2017-12-06T23:20:36Z

I like it. Fits the theme, easy to play, and plenty of work gone into it it looks like. I like that you can collect water bottles to slow down too, perhaps it should start off a little faster though. Well done!
