It's really really good even with the lack of sound. But i can't pass the boss (the part where there is a hole fiering squad in front of you plus the boss)

@justinooncx try to find a safe zone !
sadly, I didn't have any opponents.
It's funny we both made a "a maze in..." game and we both have a chasing robot !
Nice and snowy !
Looks nice, but i don't really know what to do...
Prety cool ! But i didn't really understood how i can choose the object i use.
It's pretty good but a bit unprecise. There is a nice way to make such a game : you create a map version of the room from a perfect top down view and it's not visible, then you build the actual visible room using the coordinates from the map.
Probably my favourite game so far ! Even if it's a bit simple, it's such a nice little adventure ! And the music is just perfect ! Nice work, good concept !
Loved it ! Especialy the great level design. It's like a huge level of Meat Boy with a bowser at the end !
I don't really get what i'm doing when i play but it's a game that could be terribly good!
Those are RPG maker assets...
It's ugly but it's actually pretty fun !
It runs fine for me, just unzip it guys !
It's amazing how many minigames there are in that "console". It's a great use of the theme. Sadly most of them are a bit unplayable... That's why i can't give it many stars...
Nice concept, and really hardcore ! i couln't go very far...
Is it possible to put it anywhere else than google drive ?
Awesome ! you can sacrifice the embryos !!
I really like the wall system and the music.
I can't interact, i'm stuck on home screen.
couldn't pass the first door...
Press F to switch to fullscreen.
I couln't finish in time without a magor bug that prevent the game from being ended (played?). I know this is too late for the official release but here is the playable one :
http://www.filedropper.com/amazeinc1210
actually try this one :
http://www.filedropper.com/amazeinc1220
Thanks for the nice feedback ! You can actually use the "Windows" link on the top of the screen.
Like i said, i didn't have time to polish it but maybe one day, if you guys like it !
updated version : https://www.dropbox.com/s/wqooa2h7cqjjd43/A%20MAZE%20inc%201.2.3.0.exe?dl=0
- game no longer crash after Game Over
- electric gates hitbox are fixed and vertical ones don't turn into horizontals
- lifes and coins don't reapear after death
- the ground doesn't rise for nothin (better looking transitions)
- more readable highscore list
- some misplacements are corrected
- very small changes
again, small changes
if you press escape, you're directly in the main room where you just have to step on the exit bouton... Alternatively you can press Alt+Enter (like any other game) or F to toggle off fullscreen.
Nice take on the snake concept! Cute and addictive.

The vine is really beautiful, great job!
Best game so far! At first the controls didn't make sense, J and K buttons don't do anything (web version) and clicking on the block (wich seems natural) had unpredictable effects!
Only later did I understood that you don't click on the blocks, you click either the left or the right part of the screen. I'm still at level 8 but I will keep this one to finish it. Great work ^^
I recomend downloading the Windows version to use K and J.

@vidarn: Are you going to make a smartphone version? Is this why the click controls are this way? It would be awsome. By the way i didn't mention the graphics but it speaks for itself.
I'm browsing games, this one is still my favourite so far.
can't play it
The right dial is a bit tricky to yuse with the mouse but it is a solid concept and is well executed.
Maybe if the room was round, the balls wouln't have corners to get stuck in.
Did anyone manage to get down the stairs (and not die) ? Weird game...

when you go up and press Q (so the left button) you turn right... This plus the screen overlay makes the game really hard and frustrating.
Cool but it didn't feel like the music was matching to the buttons in hard mode, wich is a huge problem for this type of game. Also, I understand the constraints of the two buttons limits the concept but you could still take in account button pressed, button down and button release (so 3*2 makes 6 variations instead of two).
Otherwise it has a great concept, it's fun, beautiful, has nice music and stick to the theme perfectly.
Haha! just use your imagination and the rectangles become fungal cheese and the circle a bacteria and the score is how much disgusting this all is! etc... It's always very funny to start a new game, great idea!

Good concept, music and introduction! I would have given a good mood note if it was availiable.

Great mix of a good concept and an excellent level design!
What to improve ? The music is a bit harsh and the physic is floating a bit much. Otherwise I really enjoyed playing it.
My compo:
http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-34/?action=preview&uid=46758
It's nice to finally play it!
This one is really hardcore, maybe it would have been better to bounce on the walls instead of loosing a heart.
Aside from that it was a great experience and I had a lot of fun playing it. The physic is really good and we have a good feeling of the ship. The concept is innovative and the real is top.

Nice!
there are some blanks (1minute without an enemy is long) and it too easy so far but it's on a interesting track.
Ideas:
Maybe we could grab a shield with the grab weapon
being able to "regrow" a flower without having to finish it could be handy.
Look forward to see the finished game, you still have some time left, good luck!

Quite a few bugs made it impossible to play:
Aliens get stuck in the mating chamber, UI disapear, builds sometimes doesn't happen...
It's too bas because the game was really interesting ! Maybe too ambitious for a Compo.
The wall in front of the spawn point decimated my army of Santas!

There is a place with 3 vertical passageways and a narrow gap betwin them to use the magical power but I can't get it to pass because of the angle and I teleport where I don't want to and I die. It's under your second screenshot.
Aside from that i liked the game! Oh but what about the theme ? I can't see it.

2739!
Not very intuitive gameplay but why not. It was actualy fun to play! but technically, it's more of a one button game (unless I missed someting)

Love the red neck attitude of the hero! The fact that you don't see your shot is a problem.
Controls were easier when I started to make the game:
up/down/left/right
And then I remembered the theme... so it controls like the antique Snake.
Yep! Sound would have been great, but I didn't have the time. Beside most games here ended up having sound/music more anoying than anything. This was the case for my LD31 game.
http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-31/?action=preview&uid=46758
I know what you mean (i think) and there is such a thing. Basically you can press the key whenever you want and it will turn on the next tile.
The previous version of that is that you could keep the key pressed (you didn't had to press it again to make a U turn) but the game is so quick you ended up making U turns without wanting to. It felt more natural but was unplayable because to fast.
I could have made the "snake" slower but it would have been boring.
Very fun game!
I love when you see a guy getting old and depressed from being alone and then just die! There is some potential here.
My only regret is that it's a bit confusing.
did 51!
Nice and fluid, il like that it's a bit permissive on the borders but the chips could have had a bigger hitbox.
Didn't all this existed, i'm gonna give it a try!
Having an engine already ready is not in the spirit of this Jam and is not fair to other jammers.
i got "sorry chrome can't run this app"

waiting for a windows version
Nice game! I always like this type of 2D/3Desque racers. it reminds me of outrun or road rash!
Very little things I think you could improve easily:
-the explosion sounds are too present
-the grass should be higher
-the car could move a bit faster (sideways) so it would be more exiting.
Damn! It's hard not to die, unless you want the most boring life ever.
Nice depressing yet fun game.
I wish the enemies would have a bigger hitbox.

did 12428. Died on purpose after that since there are only so many patterns.
It was pretty hard at the begining but when I understood that it was easier to focus my attention on the ball rather that on the track it became too easy.
Possible improuvements:
-ball could go faster with time
-add more patterns
-invert control / give the choice
-use left and right arrows instead of A and D

Got lost in the maze, just like K... (I don't remember his name, starts with a K) ! It's nice and refreshing to see somebody making this type of open world game for a jam !
If you like GB estetic games, try mine : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/addtris
I wanted to make an HTML5 port (so maybe iPhoners could play it) but I can't get it to work...
Thanks for all the feedback ! As I said, the game is buggy and I am very conscious about that ! Please try Game B for a better experience (but an experience that explores less in term of gameplay).
The reason for that is that I totally changed how the shapes are made so it couls create an infinite amount of them, compared to Game B where they are all pre-drawn.
I could have repaired most of the bugs, but hey, this is a 38h project, I didn't have the time !
@daniel-jackson It's actually one of the many fixes of the post Compo Update !
@muromets Thanks! One question, is this the kind of game you would keep in your phone for a while ? Or would you rather uninstall it in a few days ?
@rasabi You are right, I plan on reducing their hit box.
Really liked it ! It's totally within the theme. My best was 4000 but I can do better. The game drastically gets harder at this point !
My max is 56! I really panic!
I'd say my big problem with this game is the shape of the room, a square would be better suited.
Good take on the snake genre! Maybe not generous enough on the lengh we can get.
Everything has been said ! Controls were weird, but yes, gg
Pretty cool ! Nice feeling, good music... I was confused at first with the souls (I thought that you had to avoid them), maybe they shouldn't rotate (like in some animes).
Cat puns freak meawt ;)
I love the background and the music, I wish enemies could explode as it would be more satisfying, and maybe enemy bullets are too fast.
My mouse will remember ! I wish the game would get more complex after a while.
@harry-damm Sorry I forgot to put it in the game's page here, it can only be played with controllers (any standard plug and play should do it). And if you're thinking "there should be a keyboard option, I agree but I didn't have the time to code both keyboard and gamepad, that's why.
@bartman @jofersgames Rhaaaa it is so frustrating ! I don't have the capacity to release a macOS version and the HTML don't support gamepads for whatever reason... They are detected but buttons don't do nothing ! I'm starting to regreat not having given a keyboard option. But hey, it's a party game, I fugured I HAD to make it for gamepads first.
@shunaky yes I agree
It's a nice entry but I think the theme is a bit forced. I lost at crazy wave 19, maybe I could have made it if I didn't loose so many green hearts at wave 18 ! In general, clicking on stuff was a challenge.
Music is awesome ! Needs bigger sprites with small hitboxes.
@memel06 I was stuck after talking to the first guy on the HTML PC version but the smartphone version is Awesome !!! And there's also a .gb file ? Dude how did you do that ?
PS : Also, not only did we both went cats for this one, but I also made some GB games to play on smartphones for Ludum Dare a while ago, but it was fake GB. If you're curious this one is still availiable : https://5you.itch.io/brains-of-racing
PPS : It's not self-promotion if it's an old game jam ;)
Just to be fair I think credit should be given where it's due, this game uses GB Studio. Many people (including me) in the comments above were fooled by that, the technical achivement is not the same at all. Also, I think it violates some of the Compo rules.
The game is still fine.
This is vanilla GB Stuio when you open it, with it's sample game pre-built : vanilla.png
The code, some assets like the trees are already there... This should be a Jam entry, not a Compo.
compo.png
http://ludumdare.com/compo/rules/
Haha, Congratulation on the character generator ! They all look stupid, but in a good way ! I just wish there was be a "true fullscreen" so we can see better.
You can't close the windows in the HTML version. [edit] : my bad it's escape (why not just E again ?) things are not very clear.
Couldn't pass the rotating station but it was cool !
Love the art ! Not much feedback in the game, without that, we don't know if we are outsmarting the computer of if it's just random luck.
I can't beat double pistol old man... @rustycrow it's the one after Geronimo. Sometimes he's faster than me, sometimes it seems that my shoot don't register.
For your metrics : I shot between 213ms and 258sm.
Too bad you can't bounce on the walls, there's often no way to pass obstacles.
Once you get the hang of it, it become endless ! Maybe too much, enemies could deal more damage.
I had a hard time making something as cool as @jandourek but that's the kind of games I like. But I don't get the relation to the theme...
I like the idea, as the other I don't see the theme relation. The first thing there is missing is enemies bouncing when you touch them, feedback.
Too bad the cards were lacking an image, the game is beautiful ! Also, running cards that were just played should be removed or moves down in the pack so you don't play the same situation imediately again. I'd like to see a polished version of that. Also, I think the theme is a bit forced into the game.
It's great but I played like 4 or 5 games and only got refuled once, only 2 bars... It's harsh !
I think you forgot to make your game "public" on Itch.io, just go on your game's page, click "edit game" and scroll down, it should be right there.
Love the music and the fact that you can shoot off hats, it's a nice touch ! I wish there was a crouch button.
@thoastbot I realized there was a game jam on sunday somewhere in the afternoon and I had a dinner with my familly and a football game to catch (turns out it's hard to focus on coding when your team has to battle to the last minute and went from 2-0 to 2-3). Anyways, I almost abandonned releasing the game but it's nice to see that the final crunch paid off !
It can be frustrating.
Very nice, you did a good job. I went a little too greedy and lost $4000+ at the end, what a horrifying trap !
Looks awesome, but every time my cursor gets near the "click mouse button" sign it gets jittery and I can't move it. Couldn't play, sadly. This was HTML, I going to try Windows.
The .exe and appx don't work either.
@Goutye Yep! it works now, played it until I got stuck at lvl 4.0 (I'm not the brithest guy in town I guess)
My bad, it wasn't set as "public"... Here I was complaining about poor number of ratings. XD What an idiot.
@Toryf yep, but I made availiable a PC testing version, for those who don't have android phones.
@Harry Jacobs I played around a bit with the dificulty settings but I suppose, after playing that much, I became too good at my own game ! Track 01 is still pretty hard tho, because it's so simple, the AI crush it.
I know, I wish I had time to put some sound into it, but I was alone for this jam. I decided, I'd rather make a game that's somewhat playable and leave the sound behind than trying to do everything.
@Dovakla Thanks for the feedback! What do you mean by "it slows down how quickly you can take turns" ? I wanted to make a system that calculates your next move instantly but I couldn't do the math, so it's a simulation. Originally it was even slower.
How did you settle with this idea ? When I saw the theme, I imediately wanted to make a racing game, mixted with a turn base strategy ! I couldn't explain why XD I just knew I couldn't get it out of my mind.
My entry : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/brains-of-racing
I really like the reveal at the end, it's a nice artsy game (I say that in the nicest way) and it's beautiful! I found that the controls were a bit stiff, the acceleration of the turn starts too slow and ends too fast. Also, I made a huge flower but didn't had time to admire it and screenshot it because of the auto restart :(
Man what a great idea ! And the wix between 3D and 2D works really well. But gameplay feedback is oldschool, I have a very hard time hiting the ball, I feel like there is no real "hiting the ball animation".
Wow, I actually had a blast playing this one ! :v:
I also made something turned based if you want to check it out https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/brains-of-racing
Yes the player is a little too slow, so it gets overwelming pretty quick. But it's really nice !
I love the idea ! But it's hard to get strategic, with all there is to do to make a combo. Awesome graphics!
@yunix sabotaging is the first thing I tried once I got hold the the gameplay mechanics !
It's reminding me of a certain Mario Party mini game ! But I think, if you ever wat to complete it, you can skip the platforming element and make it a game fully focused on replicas, it's funny and something I wish I could see completed. The genre mixing feels a bit forced.
@Restioson I think that the very core idea about mixing genre is that they have to be closely intricated to work together otherwise it just feels like two diferent games. Here I can only see the stealth part (even if rafined) as a time constraint : "draw a piece of art before the guard sees you". And maybe you could prepare some kind of trap or whatever to gain some time. And I guess that with some imagination you could fine other funny constraints.
