Your uploader is giving me bad vibes though X)
Eh, well there were a few glitches but overall the game was fun :) I think one of my pieces got stuck in the wall and never gave me a line. I really enjoyed the music, and the controls worked great!
I love how you are playing the game in a virtual "gameboy". Would be nice to have an emulator with that as the casing :D
The Art and sound were very nice!
The overall game was a bit plagued by a few simple glitches, but overall I was able to get through it :).
Played on windows, even though I don't like tetris games very much (mainly because I suck at them) I enjoyed this one, because of the wacky shapes. Seemed to my like some pivot rotations were really off, even shape consisting of 1 block was rotating, which caused some of the blocks be stuck at the wall or weirdly in the others.
Overall it gives a great retro handheld vibe, with a music that fits perfectly.
I love the console interface, it feels like some sort of emulator. Great job on that!
The pivoting of the pieces is a bit problematic, because it seems to pivot on a single point, which is not the case with tetris: the piece's stays in the same x position. Why is that a problem? If you ever need to change the rotation at the last second before it clicks with your placed pieces, you can't because it finds itself stuck with pieces already places. Furthermore, if you ever need to pivot nearby a wall, you can't, because it finds itself stuck.
Otherwise, game is fun, the vibe I get from it is nice too, good job!
When you turn the piece while against a wall, it collides with the wall and the (remaining) blocks are placed in mid air, is it a bug ?
The gameboy interface was amazing. Other than that, some pretty neat additions to the tetris formula. Definitely worth checking out.
Thanks for all the feedback ! As I said, the game is buggy and I am very conscious about that ! Please try Game B for a better experience (but an experience that explores less in term of gameplay).
The reason for that is that I totally changed how the shapes are made so it couls create an infinite amount of them, compared to Game B where they are all pre-drawn.
I could have repaired most of the bugs, but hey, this is a 38h project, I didn't have the time !
Looks good, doesn't seem too buggy, I wish the pieces would rotate still even if they are closer to the wall, but love the gameboy buttons and things too.
@daniel-jackson It's actually one of the many fixes of the post Compo Update !
Well, I do love me some tetris, and this particular one was super fun, great graphics and music
@muromets Thanks! One question, is this the kind of game you would keep in your phone for a while ? Or would you rather uninstall it in a few days ?
Well, I'm suspect to say since I'm a big fan of Tetris but... Pretty nice game, even with some bugs! Nice graphics btw!
Good job!
Very good, i love the art, music/sounds and those tricky pieces, they saved me more than once!
Where i can preorder the Gemtoy? haha
PS: I recommend you upload the builds in itch.io (You have analytics, multiple builds support and even built-in web player), instead of this weird thing
I'm afraid I won't rate the audio because of the music (which sucks, because I love the song), but everything else is amazing. Graphics were top quality, and you added a great, theme-fitting twist to Tetris.
I think I noticed an occasional bug when placing the shapes where more blocks would be set than the ones on the shape, but other than that it all felt pretty solid.
Congratulations!
@ithildin @5you said that the Game A contains some bugs, you should test the Game B, i played a lot in B and i didn't see that bug ;)
Yay, another Tetris-based game! Really clean, fun aesthetic with enough weird pieces throwing wrenches into the works to keep it fresh. No observable bugs from me either! Too bad I recently switched to iOS, this would be pretty dope on my phone (this and all future GemToy releases).
Also, I found persistent dialogue/tutorial text really funny.
Very good entry, UI is very polished! Neat and clever!
I just loved this game, very cool!
A very original idea.
Interface is great! I liked the audio and the onboarding as well. Controls were a little finicky as I found it a little too easy to hit the diagonals. Cool take on the format.
@rasabi You are right, I plan on reducing their hit box.
