Really fun game with nice graphics! Wish the sound was a bit better, but on the whole, lots of fun. :)

Really fun game with nice graphics! Wish the sound was a bit better, but on the whole, lots of fun. :)
Really ambitious, and really faithful to the competition theme. I love dynamic sandbox games like this where you just watch to see what happens to the world. Nice one!
Yeah, looks great, but after the character says "what's that? I'd better get back" it crashes with a slick util error regardless of which house I pick?
Sorry, to be less vague, it crashes when I try and walk _into_ the house.
Someone's rated this even though the link was broken. That's a little unfair to the author. :(
Oh... so that's how it gets tallied. :| Looks like I've gone and done it as well. Didn't realise comments were listed as ratings??
Surprisingly tough little game (or maybe I'm just rubbish ;D ) Pleasant graphics and cute characters (love the expressions on impact). Would've been nice to have some sounds. Very nice though! Interesting take on the theme and well implemented. :)
I liked the subtle parallax effect. The collision detection ruined it a bit for me. Annoying to fire at something far way from the tree sprite but still have it intercepted. The music and ambience is really nice though. And the graphical style superb.
Kinda confused by this, but I love the graphical style you've employed here, very clean. Perhaps a better way of showing which one you've selected?
Hehe I like the sfx! Particularly when there's lots of entities about. Would be nice to have a little more strategy in there, but I like the concept!
Yeah, I get the "Install Unity" page as well. A shame, as this looks great. (and I definitely have the Webplayer installed... I've just been playing a few Unity web games).
AHA! Don't make your link HTTPS... make it HTTP. It stops Unity working from the Dropbox location for some people.
Hooray, it's working now. :)
Nice graphical style! With more time to work on the gameplay it could still be really good, possibly with an old-style "Bullfrog" feel to it. Plenty of potential there!
I like the look of this and there's also some nice ideas in there. Is there meant to any sound? (I saw note of FL Studio in journal)
Great voiceover! Cool idea for the game as well. Some of the wolves spawn a bit close though. Very nice graphical style as well. :)
PS: I'd change Web url to HTTP (i.e., not HTTPS). Some people are getting the "Install Webplayer" page even though they have it properly installed. It's an issue with Dropbox hosted Unity games.
Very funny (and a nice idea)! But the repeating of questions feels a bit like a bug? (could be intentional?)
Hahaha, how delightfully random! Like the floppy sounds as well... though it makes me feel old. (dare I say it... out-dated!) :(
Love the retro feel to this game. The music, sounds and graphics are spot on. I'm not very good at it, which is a shame, as I'd like to see those other levels from the screenshots. :)
I really liked this! Goes without saying that it looks lovely. I also like the progression idea. Haha, I did manage to get stuck behind the shed! But through some mangling of WASD I was able to get out again. :D
Yikes, touch game! Very addictive though and good implementation. Great music as well.
"Tough" game, even...
Haha, fantastic! I love the bit at the museum.
"noo, not your cousin!" resulted in a major belly laugh. :D
Alas, I couldn't find anyone to mate with. (such is life...) :(
Fascinating! And very beautiful once it's been left to run for a while. Would be nice to be able to click on the mini-map to go directly to that location. (this PC has a slightly low-range GFX card) :)
Very well put together and quite challenging. I like the clean graphical style as well.
No game on Firefox either! Please fix, the game looks great, we want to play it! :D
I love the aesthetic look of the game, and it's a cool idea as well. I actually found the sound quite amusing. :D
What a fascinating idea. I really like the graphical style, and the ambient sounds are just perfect. I wish there was a stronger 'win' scenario (or possibility!).
Hiya, please change your Web link from HTTPS to HTTP! A lot of us will just see the "Install Unity Webplayer" page even though we have it installed.
Nice game, though I'm not sure if my beam was doing anything. Sound FX gave me a shock, was on headphones. :D
Game
Fascinating little sandbox! Game does stop sometimes and I'm not sure what I'm doing that makes that happen. Seems to be random. The actual evolution bit is nicely implemented. Fun to watch new species appear. I like the variation in traits as well, that's nicely done. :)
Had to delete the Youtube video, it was all corrupted. :(
I haven't tested this on a Linux setup, but I imagine you just type:
java -jar AlienRockPool.jar
(same for Windows and OSX if you use the JAR version)
Thanks berkano! Aha, clicked your name and realised I'd just played yours! Really good, and you implemented the competition theme really well. Very ambitious as well.
Thanks guys!
Andrew: Haha, yep, I mentioned that on Post Mortem, alas I hit the deadline before fixing it. I could probably spend another 48hrs tweaking the hitpoints/values etc.!
tigerj: Thanks. Yep, I meant to put little numbers on the icons. A lot of people will just hit space and go straight in. D: (and to think I wrote all that lovely text...) :d
Thanks guys. :) In line with the rules, I've fixed a bug which meant the lightning and spike tallies were reversed, the crab was giving the ray points and vice versa. I've updated the MacOSX versions and JAR. Please let me know if anything's broken!
I love these physics-based games! The satisfaction of setting a trajectory that gets it 'just right'.
I think some kind of Beginning-of-Alien-esque-ambience, you know that kind of hollow windy ambience would have been a good placeholder in lieu of actual sound effects.
I agree that the meteors could move a bit faster too. Really enjoyed the game though. :)
Agreed, from the outset the graphics are beautiful and the music nice. But I could not work out what to do? Picking up fruit and throwing at people. It might work in real life but in the game it does nothing? :(
Absolutely adorable, lovely sounds and music too. The click sensitivity between placing food and picking up kittens was a little frustrating, but on the whole it's really good fun!
Tricky!! Very amusing though, and a nice idea well implemented. Agree though, after level 4 it's quite a challenge. (which is good) :)
Well, I've scored this highly... usually I'm a little hesistant with non-web entries, but when I saw the picture I knew I had to try this out. Really good fun, the elephant arm is nice game mechanic. Would be nice to control rotation with the mouse as there were some points where I was going backwards and forwards by clicking once and never quite able to get the alignment right. Anyway, a great idea implemented really nicely. Well done! :)
Wow, I think I need 2 brains running in parallel for this! :D Very nice graphics as well. Not 100% sure I know what I'm doing, and whether it constitutes 'winning' (not necessarily in the Charlie Sheen sense...), but I'm having fun. :)
Charming and delightful. Music fits very nicely. There's definitely a great game concept hiding in there somewhere!
Haha, this game in insaaaaane! High quality production all round. Great fun!
Quite fun to watch! :D Just a note to change your web link from http(s) to just http, some of us will just get the "Install Unity" page, even though we have it installed.
Well, I think this is my winner. It's 1) Addictive 2) Beautiful 3) Sounds good 4) Fits the theme and it feels like a lot of polish has gone into this. Really exceptional, well done!
Curious and engrossing little game. Beautifully presented, feels very professional!
Gorgeous! Getting an Ultima Underworld feel from this. Look forward to trying this out tomorrow with a fresh mind.
Love the aesthetic! Wish boxcat was a little faster. Nice story as well, very cute. :)
Nice concept, I liked it, though I spent a lot of the time looking at the bottom 1/4 of the screen. (which was a shame as the final boss graphic is great). :)
Very beautiful! Music was nice as well. Playwise I just killed all the cute ones and after a while didn't need to move the mouse (much). Perhaps I wasn't playing the game in the correct frame of mind! ;-D Production values for this are very professional.
Really good fun, love the pixel art style as well. Sounds are right on and the music has that 90s console vibe. I was defeated by the giant purple dodo. It just kept on coming! :(
teh kittehs! I could hear them and then it was too late. D: I won't sleep tonight... (I love the sounds in this btw)
Haha! This is supremely satisfying to play. :D
I like this! I took the entities to be self-replicating compounds (I think? ... hmn, need to re-read "The Selfish Gene"). Music was nice, could've been looped?
Incredible atmosphere, but not sure if I 'won'? Think I need to see a walkthrough done by someone else. :)
There's a great concept going on here, but I found it quite hard to understand. But the card game concept is excellent and quite innovative! (and rated thusly)
Nice little game. :) Was a bit confused at first, would be nice if buttons made a sound when you click on them to confirm that something's actually happening.
It would be better if the attacking entities stayed in front, as often I didn't know something was behind me and then it was awkward to shoot. Nice implementation though, sounds are good, pretty to look at as well. :)
Hiya, change you link from HTTPS to HTTP! There's an issue where people keep being asked to download the Unity Webplayer even though they have it installed! i.e., I changed your link to HTTP and now it runs fine!
Now onto the game: Hehe, yes, it's quite fun to throw them off the cliff. :D Reminds me of the bit in Skyrim where you push your "favourite fan" off the top. Is the camera-look meant to be connected to the cursor this way? I found I was looking at the sky when I clicked "Run" and had to re-orientate my viewpoint. Fun though!
Very nice production. I like the art style in this and the sounds are nice and ambient. Perhaps needs more of a goal as already mentioned. Great entry though, well done.
Same as davidllanos22, can't figure out how to make a torch. :[
Hehe, you can't go wrong with Space Invaders can you. :D Pleasant to look at, the music is cool and the sounds are perfect. I sense a wave of good scores incoming.
Wow, that was excellent! This is one of my favourites so far. I liked the music as well. It had a 70s sci-fi synthesizer feel to it that was absolutely perfect for the atmosphere. The 'game' is a little restrictive, but the story was really enjoyable. Well done!
Hope you get it uploaded soon! The ship construction page looks awesome. Reminds me of a game called "Storm Master" on Amiga/ST. Best of luck and will check back soon. :)
Cool idea. The last level seemed quite tough (in fact, didn't beat it).
Hmm, I think I managed to crash/freeze it by blocking the rooms (which I seemed to be able to do)? That said, what a beautiful looking game! Feels very polished. I agree that having a block for each orientation is a bit frustrating, particularly when up against the clock, but it's not a dealbreaker. Nice work everyone!
Very smart concept! Implementation is very good as well, with fun graphics and good sound. :)
I agree with Winterblood about having a few more rules for interaction. Very nice look to the game.
Lovely retro feel to it! :)
Quite fun controlling the ship. Nice music as well!
Hehe, think I need to down a pint of coffee to have the reflexes for this! What happens at the end? (if you don't mind me asking?) :)
haha, I never mind a lot of spacebar-mashing if the game has style and this has it in bucketloads! nice art and nice sound as well. good fun!
Nice concept, perhaps needs a bit of tweaking with the balancing? (I think I hit a saturation point where I was just adding to the first factory after a while). Nicely done though, good stuff!
Hmm, a little bit confused by this but seemed fun. :)
Works fine in Wine, which is nice. Interesting wee game, controls are a bit quirky, shift for jump doesn't come naturally to me.
Good fun (as physics based games often are)! Got stuck at a few points and had to restart. Can you reach the princess at the end? (are you meant to?)
Quite tricky and got frustrated quite quickly. I liked the look of the game though, nice colour scheme.
lol, keep the walk anim, it's hilarious! :D
There's a nice idea in here and the herding mechanic is quite tricky. Some very basic FX would be nice.
I always find being made to dance a form of torture!
That was great fun! I liked the little sayings as well. :D
A few issues with the controls, but a very nice idea! You can't have a villain without his/her cat. :D
I think this is my favourite so far! Full marks in the Fun category. Great sense of humour as well! Also, special Al Gore points! (haha, he should've been the bonus topic instead of goats) ;-)
Interesting concept, a little like a reverse X-COM of sorts! :) Nice audio track, perfectly creepy. Seemed to take a long time to progress? I may just be playing very badly. :D
At first I was completely confused, but once I understood how the game worked this was pretty engrossing!
Very good indeed! Though even on easy it seems I am not an 1337 h4xx0r. ;___;
Extremely polished graphical style, very nice!
Nice graphics and nice narrative. Is he really a villain? Or just misunderstood? *sniff* ;_;
I think we have a winner!
Crikey this is hard, but what a superb concept! Has a cool 16bit feel to it as well.
Thanks guys! Alas, it's only after the submission deadline I realise how blatantly obvious it should have been to me to use the mouse to control the X-Y and the buttons + drag (or keys) to control the other values. >___<
Oh well, LD is a learning experience! :D
Oh! You can drag up/down to turn the dials! Argh, I just realised people are trying to circle them. D:
Very polished game with beautiful graphics, great chip music and great humour! Bit glitchy, got stuck behind that step area in your last screenshot. Lacks a little bit of variety but that's understandable given the 48hr timeframe. Great fun!
Very clever little idea and very nicely implemented! Really liked how the world changed as you covered more an more of the area. A few tiles I couldn't seem to change (usually before a step), but aside from that a very nice game, well done! :)
I kinda miss that there isn't any sound during the game itself (or doesn't seem to be!). Art and gameplay is quite fun though. I like the way the size changes between sections.
Possibly the first game to make me laugh out loud. The last mini game in particular. Nicely done.
Haha, this is superb! Nice graphics, nice music, good gameplay and a wicked sense of humour. ;-D
(on a sidenote, for 4 weeks of Unity this is impressive!)
Interesting concept! I don't know if it's a Chrome thing, but I had to move the mouse in a kinda wierd in/out way to get that "activate scheme" button to work once it was planned out. I like the graphical style and the sounds were good. :]
I like the terrain, it's quite pretty! Reminds me of a level in something like Black & White. The controls are bit awkward but the game itself works well. :)
I agree with the comment about not halting the played during dialog, it kinda jars with the game a bit. Other than that, feels like a lot of work has gone into this, very nice mood!
Ah, glad it's just not me who wondered if the arrow keys were working. Nice idea for the game though.
A nice idea here! Would be nice if there had been a few more complicated options and less spacebar hammering. (that gravity adjust thing is a good one!)
Tricky little game! Enjoyed this, smart idea!
Haha, nice concept implemented very nicely!
Hiya, for the web version, put the .html and the webplayer file in your Public directory, right-click the .html and select Dropbox->Copy Public Link and post that for the URL. But change it from HTTPS to HTTP.
I'm on OSX and I'd quite like to play this!
Ah, sorry, didn't see your previous comment. Hmm, it should be in the context menu if it's in the Public directory?
I never tire of tower games, which is why they are classics I guess. Graphics fine, nicely implemented (though a selection box around your current menu item would be nice addition)
Very cool idea, nicely implemented. I think it would've benefited from a few fx (just simple chip fx made on that free sound maker website often linked on LD) every time they bounce off a wall?
Curious and addictive little game. Nice music as well with a pleasant graphical aesthetic. Me likey. :)
Love the graphical style and the dragon model is fantastic. Controls are a bit glitchy though and flying is a little frustrating. But as I say, very nice look to the game!
It's quite fun to test your own bases. As already mentioned, the base editor is a bit unintuitive at first. Graphics are nice and sound is fine. Nicely done.
Very polished and high quality production, well done guys!
There's not many games that have me shouting "hit the ambulance! hit the ambulance!" ;-D
Great graphics and cool Arkanoid gameplay! I would liked to have been able to control the UFO with the mouse, but aside from that, perfect!
"NOTE: There is a known issue playing Unity games in Chrome!"
- actually, it's caused by the HTTPS in the Dropbox link. Change it to HTTP and it works in all browsers. ;-)
Now to play your game...
Good game! Quite tough. Nice 80s CRT vector aesthetic... if that makes any sense!
Haha, nice idea, and very well implemented! Nice graphics. Though a little more room space would be nice.
(and extra points for picking one of my favourite Mitchell & Webb scenes. I also like the health & safety version where's he's getting the builder to put in his rotating wall :D )
Haha, I'm getting too old for games that run at this speed. My reaction time is just way too slow to avoid the obstacles. Graphics and sound are really nice though.
Cool concept and very nice pixel art. Pretty tough game, in fact!
That is immensely satisfying to play! :D
Very nice! Would have been nice to have had even some very basic sound fx, but very polished in the graphics and implementation side. Well done! :)
Very enjoyable, like a mini Thief, well done! Controls have been mentioned, I liked the simplicity of the design actually.
This is a very nice concept and very skillfully and professionally put together! You guys should continue to work on this and consider putting this on the market! Would make a very nice iPad app, in fact.
Very cool indeed! Lovely graphical style. Almost has a kinda Introversion feel to it. Very moody.
This is quite fun, but am I right in thinking the randomisation means you can't win some levels? I started near a no-go area and any route around it meant Tombo getting all the treasures and reaching the exit before I could get near?
Hurrah! One that runs on my iPhone! Pretty graphics and a fun game. Someone already mentioned about the game being awkwardly over once the heroes are at the door. Still, fun little game, well done!
Nice little game, clean interface! Agree with the comment that the goons must be pretty powerful! :D
Nice use of WebGl, shall have a look at the sources!
I did seem to end up just holding S and strafing left and right, but even some AAA titles thesedays seem to be similar! Nice work, well done.
Haha, extra marks for the Willy Wonka quote in there! :D
Great graphics and sound. Not overtly sold on the gameplay, but a fun experience all the same!
Nice! I liked the graphics and audio (a little bit 8bit-esque). Reminds me of that Windows 95 Warhammer tie-in, "Shadow of the Horned Rat" a little bit.
Occasional graphical glitches (my flags seemed to disappear making me think the unit was losing... until they won and appeared again) but on the whole it seems like a lot of work has gone into this, well done!
Superb fun! I love the little indicators showing you the directions to different entities. Nice music and good sound fx as well.
Well that was... unique! :D
An interesting audio/visual experience, not much to do per se, but certainly an interesting take on the topic all the same.
Reminds me of Jenga a little bit! Nice puzzler. :)
Beautiful graphics and sound!
My bed is full of dead animals. D:
Hehe, pretty tough. Very cute game, efficient and nicely implemented!
I had a nostalgic flashback to Cadaver for some reason. :D
I rather like these experimental little games. They're like a more complicated version of a wind up toy. It's fun to set things up and then watch them go. :)
Excellent, very addictive!
I don't know if it's my monitor, but the navy blue is a bit hard to make out?
I <3 Stalker. Lovely ambience. I went down some stairs and couldn't click on anything so I got a bit confused at that point. Nicely done though.
Smart little game, great concept! A wee bit glitchy but not a problem as it helped me beat one of the levels quite quickly. :D
Occasionally a game appears each LD that astounds me with both it's simplicity and it's beauty. This is that game. Beautiful ambience and great game mechanic. Well done indeed!
Fun little puzzler! :D
Thanks for your comments everyone! I wish I could've added more to make the game more of a 'game'. :)
The general rules to please Brian are:
- Ratio of Horizontal to Vertical ~ 1:1
- More than 1 color, but less than 7
And yes, those are totally arbitrary decisions on my part, with no minimalistic artistic background at all I'm sorry to say!
Sweet. Nice audio. :)
Good thing my day job doesn't require reaction speeds like this! Haha, tricky little game with nice presentation.
Hehe, pretty intense! Nice and simple. Good sound.
Delightful! I actually had to search for this after seeing it on the front page of LD earlier. Glad I did! Works great on OSX here.
Tricky game! I really like idea though, the concept is very cool.
Pleasant graphical style. Nice ambient sound.
Nice idea, well implemented! Reminds me of BBC's "Hole in the wall", just without the silly contestants in shiny gimp suits.
I love how chaotic it gets as you play it for while. Lovely presentation as well.
Tough little game! I like the challenge and concept though. Maybe add the "R to replay" to the instructions text as the in-game pixel font looked a bit like P at first.
Beautiful mood and sound. Bit confused by the combat at the end.
Delightfully dark! I felt overcome with nietzschean existential despair whilst playing this. Full marks.
Beautiful aesthetic! Tough though, I'm rubbish at timing these jumps. ;__; Love the music.
Hahaha, I have no idea what I'm doing! :D
Hehehe, I already had DOSBOX and even downloaded CWSDPMI to try this out. It is minimalist to the max! Well done. :D
I have no idea what I'm doing... but I'm enjoying myself. :D
Wow, this is pretty challenging. Very smart game concept.
I liked the music and was sad when it stopped. :(
Would like to be able to hold spacebar for autofire. Nice little shooter!
Agree about firing from head. Love the art and aesthetic though.
High scorer here! Great idea and very polished presentation.
Top marks for mood! Wish the character moved a wee bit faster. I got stuck in the attic as well... at precisely the wrong time! ;-D
Magnificent. After a few seconds of playing I was like... hmm... and then a few seconds later... waaaaaargh!
Easy to learn, hard to master! Nice sound as well.
For me, this is what Ludum Dare is often about. Great ideas implemented in a really beautiful way. Great stuff!
Tricky little game, I love the pixel art. I try to imagine lines connecting them all in my head, but that plan starts to fail pretty quickly when they go back and forth. :)
Hehehe, I had DOSBOX and even downloaded CWSDPMI to try this out. It is minimalist to the max! Well done. :D
Argh, sorry, I posted in the wrong page!! Have fixed the score.
Beautiful graphics and presentation. I'm assuming the game can be 'won'? (i.e., I'm just crap at playing it!) :D
When I realised you could mix colours I was like "wwaaaa!". Excellent concept, gets very challenging quite quickly. A lot of fun though.
Quite short, but nice idea!
Very nice. I like the way it has that golfing element where the ball swirls around the hole and you're like "is it... is it... is it going to... yes!"
+1 for use of Désirée potato. (I'd say red potato but apparently that's considered potatoist)
That face is going to haunt me in my dreams. D:
Nice game, but would be good if the enemy's had some sort of effect rather than just disappearing.
Great fun! Not 100% sure I knew what I was doing, but fun just watching the carnage. :d
Nice production! Great audio. When confronted by the red imp, I pressed escape when I wasn't doing any damage and seemed to lock the game somehow? (i.e., couldn't attack or leave). I broke it. :(
What a lovely little game! Almost has a bit of a Lemmmings vibe. Nice graphics and sound.
Haha! Good slap sound! :D
Hmm, shooting at the start kills you if you don't move a wee bit. I like the aesthetic though! Agree about being unable to jump over baddies. They anticipate you a wee bit too well.
It's "space invaders" meets "1943" meets "Xenon 2" which still makes it a winner in my book. Nicely done.
What a beautiful game! Feels like Homeworld met an Iain M Banks epic novel. Would like to see this developed into a full game. A bit confused when battles start about where I am and what's going on... but just sat back and enjoyed the visuals! Epic scope here, well done!
Production quality is great! The ball task was the only one where I could work out what to do though. (I possibly missed an instruction somewhere?) Really nice though.
Nice idea! (I have to confess to being a bit squeamish... even playing Operation makes me faint)
A lovely level of polish to this. Looks very nice.
As already mentioned, a bit harsh having to go back to level 1. :(
I loved the retro aesthetic! :)
Beautiful (visuals and music)! Suggest making explicit in instructions you need to DRAG out the items onto the map. I was clicking them and wondering why they were appearing way off. :)
If David Lynch wrote a ZX Spectrum game, this would be it! I had an.. 'ending' with a blue bloke and no idea what was going on. Aweseome. :D
It probably helps that I'm slightly innebriated, but when I read "wholemeal trousers" I knew I was onto a winner! A psychedelic duck-feeding technothon. I loved it! :D
Thanks guys, as the time ran out (I originally wanted 3 suspects) I had to trim more an more of the dialog out and the hints became less and less useful.
I've added a Walkthrough to the links. :)
Thanks everyone. :)
acp_ld: Yeah, "Captain Blood" (old ST game) had 2 rows of icons, now I think about it. For the limited dictionary (a lot of which isn't used due to time constraints ;__; ) it would've helped a bit.
OriginalBigDan: I'll do a postmortem soon! A nasty bug in a global static class almost right towards the deadline almost made me pull out of the compo until I squished it. D:
What a great concept (love the backstory)! The music is really fab too. I felt bad when I lost. :c
Very funny, nice concept! :D
Brilliant! Very good concept (I like it better than regular chess!). Well done indeed, my highest rated game so far. :)
Very nicely implemented, felt quite tense. I few filler sounds (or some ambience) would've made a big difference. Graphically beautiful though. Well done. :)
No XBOX pad. Not possible to play with keyboard? :(
I want playyyyy. ;_;
Thank you for adding keyboard controls! :) Beautiful graphics.
Road Rage simulator 2013. :D
Looked deceptively simple but there's a nice game mechanic in there! I like the dystopian British flag. :P
Really nice music, would've been nice to have had it playing during the level as well. :) I couldn't resist walking over the spike grid to see what would happen. Bad idea. :P
Hehe, just came back from the pub where we had a conversation about living in the 2010s - Where's my hoverboard??! :D Fun little game, liked the music as well.
I always look forward to your entries each LD. You always take us to a wierd and wonderful world! :D
Very nice game! Lovely music and I like the Elite-style galactic map. I had a wierd issue where on the 3rd planet I visited the buttons didn't appear and I was stuck. Very ambitious entry though, well done. :)
Crikey that's a tough game (or I totally suck at it, which is entirely possible)! Immensely beautiful game, the production values are superb. Reminds me a wee bit of The Last Samurai.
Interesting concept! Loved the art as well.
Very pretty, good sound and aesthetic. Nice puzzler, even if I didn't know what I was doing! :D
I really like that the levels are procedural, very good replayability. Music could be a bit longer and more varied. The graphic style is perfect.
Absolutely superb. A brilliant concept and solid execution. Love the pixel art and the background ambience is perfect. Well done indeed!
Took me a wee while to work out what was going on but had fun once I realised what was what. :D
Beautiful music! Being a flying triceratops made my day. :D
Fun little game! I love the music and the graphics are very cool as well.
Haha, this game feels like a metaphor for life. ;-D
Very fast and good controls, but very very hard.
Thank you for reviewing my game. I'm a very sad panda that I'm unable to play this. :( The trailer looks absolutely amazing!! Music, visuals are top notch. :D
Me knuckles Cap'n! They cannae take any more! D:
Nice game idea, very cleanly implemented!
This is remarkable! Astonishing work for 48hrs. Well done indeed!
Really nice variation on the tower theme. Oddly enough, the enemies didn't move on my version? (which made it rather easy for me) ;-) I think this was because I ran the .swf directly as the web page wasn't loading for me. (maybe there are some variables set up in the web page) Anyway, really nice game! (and thanks for your review of mine)
Really interesting concept, nicely done! Good presentation as well.
I had a feeling that the kittens probably had something to do with it. A lot of good work put into this, would like to see a post-compo version as well. Nicely done. :)
Key working fine on OSX here. Nice concept, does exactly what it says on the tin! :)
Very good, nice game concept. I really liked the music as well!
Beautiful style, but I kept getting stuck a lot. (literally, in the scenery) I love the whole aesthetic though.
Haha, nice idea. :D
No joy on Chrome here either. Neither clicking the "return" symbol or pressing any key got me further. :(
Well! This is thing of lovelines, isn't it? <3
Would've preferred UP as an alternative to SPACE for jump?
A nice concept but I wasn't 100% sure what I was doing?
Great music and nice art style.
Superb production quality. Made me nostalgic about Xenon II!
Well done! A nice idea, well implemented. Well done to your daughter on the pretty graphics. I like these pattern matching puzzles, they sometimes appear in some Mensa tests.
Tricky to get shotgun girl facing the right way! Beautiful graphics, nice implementation.
Well, that was depressing. (but not rated badly for being so!) A rather philosophically existential message. I think I'll have a little cry now.
Great production values! Very frustrating though. Soda with lever? :D
Great mood! Agree about dialog speed.
What a beautiful game! Tuts could be a bit more visible, I must've missed the one about the wolf and couldn't understand what was happening. Once I figured it out, I really enjoyed it! Love flocking mechanics too! (my first LD was a flocking game)
Haha, I like the Murdoch graphic! I actually just walked past everyone in level 1 and it said "Workers Killer: 100"... is that right? I loved the ending.
Getting a 404 when downloading here. Is it still up? :(
Kar: Got it, thanks!
Nice game! Alas, I had the problem where (on Day 6 here) I got stuck in 'collecting water' and couldn't move. Nice concept though. :)
Beautiful and charming! (incidently, it's the 3rd only-one-arrow game I've played so far... but the others don't come close to this one)
This is tougher than playing Jet Set Willy on the ZX! :D Very addictive though, I like a challenge.
Great concept! Someone's been watching too much Walking Dead? ;-D Collision detection a bit sensitive in some bits but on the whole a great idea realised nicely.
Yarrrr she's pretty, but me ship got stuck matey!
Haha, any game that has me saying "wu... whooo.... woaaaah... wooooaaaaah" is a winner. :D I loved the graphic style as well. Some sound (in fact, just some basic white noise for the thrusters and a generic 'bonk' collision) would've been a nice addition.
Great concept, I like the sprites. I managed to get the weight bar to go negative? D:
Not sure if I 'won'? Text was still red at the end, despite a soft (I think?) landing? I'm learning Russian, so was nice to recap some vocab! :D
Very well done. Made me feel happy. :D
Got stuck in the tree, but that wasn't so bad as the score kept going up. :D I like the take on theme, nice concept.
Right... I think this is my game of LD28. :D I loved it! DEFCON meets Dr Strangelove. I disagree with several others, this gets the theme spot on imho! There was a news article in the UK about a Soviet missile operator who got the red light to attack and stayed his hand because he thought it was a glitch. Scary times!
Would love to know the music???
pavelzuk: Thank you! I knew it must be a Bach of some sort. Will hunt it out!
Production values are fantastic, but a little difficult to judge without even a basic AI solo player.
Haha, bizarre! 8% but still had fun. :D
Do I suck at this, or is it possible that even if you hold space when an arrow appears, you're too slow to avoid it? :( I have collected 0 flowers so far. That makes me a sad panda.
Really lovely graphics. Not really sure what I was meant to be doing. One of the nicest WebGL games I'm come across though.
Great concept! The UN should be run this way. :D
Beautiful graphics, and I like the game mechanic too (which just needs a weeeee bit of tweaking).
Excellent concept, well done! Nice music as well. Great use of the theme as well.
Was a bit confused at first until I realised the dark navy blocks were walls (as pointed out already). There's a really nice puzzle game in there though. Nicely done! :)
Deserves an award for the pun! :D Nice little sequential puzzler, very enjoyable. :)
Fun game and great graphics. I seemed to be able to fly? :D (dunno if that's intentional... useful!)
Superb! Astonishing work for 48hrs, well done! Is there a cheat for people who suck? (c'est moi?) :d
Bow mechanics very nice! Nice use of the theme too. (and encouraging recycling...) ;-)
What a beautiful, beautiful, BEAUTIFUL experience. :D
Great concept! Really nice clean interface as well. Agree with views you should clean up and publish this. Would make quite a nice iPad game. Haven't quite mastered it, so checking video again. But that's a good thing!
Nice idea! The collision detection was a bit cruel though, was certainly no blue near me when I got killed off.
Haha, oh sh*t, I killed him almost instantly! I clearly have surpressed rage issues. D: Brilliant concept presented really well. Well done!
"felt more like a dolphin than a submarine" -- agreed, change the model from a submarine and you could have Echo the Dolphin in 3D. :D Nice shaders!
Hi guys, thanks for the comments! Just back off the train, so will record and upload a video which probably works best!
- You have to hit them reasonably perpendicular and above 12000 speed. (just after afterburner)
- You don't need to hold down W to keep speed up and you can use afterburner immediately after it stops... which is a BUG. :( (which I probably shouldn't fix post-deadline)
- Use an 'L' with the red ships. At high speed charge towards them, and then at the last minute hang left/right and hit them side on.
Hopefully the FRAPS video will show this.
Hi guys, thanks for the comments. Yeah, unfortunately I never found a way to make the stealth aspect work properly (other than initially escaping from the destroyer range).
dusho: I forgot to put a depth limit in that would've prevented that. :(
Lyje: Thanks, I started to get a little nostalgic about an old Activision game called "Hunter" as I worked on this which had some nice simple geometry in it (by necessity!).
Very nice! Particularly given the time constraints. I want to give you extra stars for the pun as well. ;-P
Haha, I knew I was missing an LD favourite from my list. You didn't disappoint, sir! The jukebox made me jiggle my bits as well.
To anyone playing this, persevere. :D Very 'art house', but an important message in there. (a weeeeeeeeeee bit of variation in the sound would've been nice, but I understand the repetitive intention)
Hee hee! What an awesome little character, and quite maneuverable as well.
Hehe, how big is this Kraken? :O Really nice turn based strategy, would make quite a cool boardgame, actually!
Beautiful! Little robot reminds me of Eve from WallE. :D Good use of the theme as well. My energy bar never seemed to go down?
Beautiful game (in every aspect), but keys (A/D) for rotation would be much appreciated. On trackpad (laptop) it's kinda difficult. High scorer though, well done!
Absolute loveliness! <3 Main character anim seemed unusual, but it might be the speed he moves out. That's a *very* pedantic and minor point for what is an amazing entry. Well done!
Hooray! This has been fixed since I last checked on it. No longer being pushed left in an unintentionally hilarious way. Fantastic graphics & music. Really beautiful. Perhaps some extra interaction (dialog choices) would have been nice. Well done though, great entry.
Very good graphics and sound. Bit confused by level screen design, seemed to go into one, come back and it was different? Great production values though, well done.
Superb variation! Nice retro graphics and sound.
Oh wow! Flashback to one of my favourite DOS games ever! Superb polish, well done indeed!
Eek, I managed to fall through the ground right at the start. D: Odd game... bit like watching an 'art house' movie.
Fun game! Agree with archaeometrician that you should disable the context menu. I think this would be in line with the rules as you're simply fixing something that works already and it's not a change to the source code.
Haha, I loved the music. And the game! High scorer here. :D
Fun to play! Got jammed next to a door by enemies and no amount of bubbles would destroy it. (is there a distance limit - do you have to be a certain distance away?) Loved the intro!
Cool! First emulated game I've played this LD. Hehe, like Zerkruemler, I have no idea why I'm smashing these guys. :D Great graphics and nice music. Nice arcadey feel. Not sure about the theme link though?
Hehe, curious jumping mechanic! (mid air jump) Really nice polished feel to this, well done. :)
Great concept, nicely realised. The ball mechanics are quite nice as well. I'm guessing you can't save all the sappers?
Cool concept, minimal controls. Nice work!
Cool concept realised with really top notch graphics! There were some bits I wanted to skip, not due to content, just impatience on my part! ;D (I also got pushed into a corner awkwardly in one of the mini games and got stuck... bit like being on the subway in rush hour really...)
I really like these memory games. Nice clean usable interface as well. Nicely done.
Like a wierd and wonderful dream!
Lovely aesthetic, good sound. Double-jump useful!
Agreed with trueyomic, a beautiful game though! Alas, my reaction times don't get any faster as I get older. An 'old farts' mode would be welcome. :D
Lovely design and nicely executed gameplay. Should develop this idea further for mobile market! (though "Digger Doug" sounds more marketable ;-D )
Interesting controls... but very pretty game. Nice models as well.
Lovely aesthetic. Bit curious about the 'goal' here. Really polished feel. Well done!
This is beautiful! Je suis Jacques Cousteau!
It might be my machine, but there was slight latency between clicking the screen and the guppy jumping. Or maybe I'm just being a bad sport! ;-D Really nice graphics and sound, nice game.
Tough little game! I like the flame effect. Is it winnable or do I just suck? (which is entirely possible!) ;-D
A little hard to control, but love the graphics. No sound in Chrome, sadly. :(
Great concept and fun to play! I like the art style as well. :D
Works fine in Chrome here. Did get a stutter after a while. Well done on your first LD!
Hehe, curious! Beautiful graphics and nice aesthetic, as mentioned. I got stuck in a big hole... went a bit crazy with the digging. @__@
Interesting idea, nice graphics. Similar similar situation to "friken", I seemed to lose all the other shapes at some point.
Interesting ideas in here. I'd disable levitation while moving. Or alternatively *only* have levitation while moving for trickiness. "We are also going to be adding a soundtrack with sound FX. " - is this in the post-72 version? Silence here. :|

I saw this in a screenshot earlier in LD and had to hunt it out! I like being able to grab previous enemies, nice touch!
Haha, I got a shock when the rocks started falling. A really nice implementation here. Clean interface, good sound, and pretty graphics. Well done! (thanks for the heads up about returning the droid, was returning vertically but nothing was happening)
WHen I hit space, I get the previous 'press space' screen flickering with the new 3D scene and don't seem to be able to control anything? :(
Unity Webplayer on OSX in Google Chrome.
Outstanding! Very well done indeed! At first I was like, "oh, just a map", but then you can expand the view by encouraging reviewing others, that's genius. :)
Very strange indeed, but in a good way. :)
Good production values and nice art. :)
What a beautiful poly world. The pit where you fall into the purple forest was just... <3 <3 <3 Well done indeed.
Wow, I'm impressed with how much you got packed into this game. Aesthetic look is lovely, and the controls feel very responsive. Things like coloring the ball felt very intuitive to me and everything felt very interpretable (is that a word? it is now...!). Excellent work, well done!
Hehe, another mouse button masher over here. :) Really nice graphics.
Awesome graphical style and challenging game! Agree with previous comment, needs bouncy music. :D
Excellent concept, nice simple visuals. Interface a wee bit problematic (sometimes sent stuff backwards when a click wasn't registered), but it's a small issue for what is a smart game. Well done.
Thank you for your comments everyone, much appreciated. :)
Fonserbc: I wanted some closer zones to pressure you into moving upwards, but it doesn't really work very well. I think perhaps another game mechanic could be introduced to encourage the players not to stay in one zone too long.
Reyn: Hehe, need to think about my usernames in future! ;P
Great use of the theme, well done. Quite difficult though, some of the red cones are just immune to gunfire?
Very high marks here! Sound got a bit stuttery for some reason, but the game concept itself is superb. Got to the end and was well chuffed. :) (no flickering issues here on Chrome)
Very cool aesthetic. You have a good imagination! :D
Nice little thrust-em-up. :D
Haha, barbabarran! Cool shadow-world concept. Great graphics and sound. Jump controls were a little frustrating (jump and move seemed one or other). Really great presentation though and fantastic humor.
This is really polished, well done! At first a bit confused, but then realized what a nice sequence of things is set out.
Really clever! Some quality level design as well. :)
Well done! Simple ideas are often the best. My reaction times always suck for timing jumps though.
Slightly confusing, but beautifully presented.
Oh, was that literally you in the game "Reyn"? Haha, I wouldn't have picked a silly name like "Arsecheeks" then. Really good interaction and ship control feels nice. Would perhaps consider direct beam lasers rather than projectiles. Very high quality, well done! (had to use Firefox btw, couldn't get interaction in Chrome but I believe that's a Chrome permissions perculiarity)
Hehe, that was very random! You have a good imagination. :D (scratchy head while playing this, I hope it's not contagious!)
"You should package the binary+data as a zip as well, so people can just download-unzip-run without downloading the whole source. "
- at the moment, this is my only option, as the Web seems to be offline. :(
Could you ZIP up the exe and data folder into one file please? Would like to play this.
Surreal and very very classy. Wonderful imagination.
Short but very, very sweet!
Feels like a winner here. Great concept wedded to a great presentation. Slight problem here, have a Logitech 3D Extreme which seems to be interfering and making one of the robots walk constantly to the right. Disconnected it, game plays fine. :)
Haha, how random! Really nice presentation, well done. :D
Very nice, reminds me a bit of Ascendancy. Dunno what I did, but one of the planets (Gemini) flew off towards the camera. Was kinda scary. Great aesthetics and atmosphere though, well done.
Tricky and fiendishly hard! I love a good challenge. Hehe, I need a faster mouse though (bad workman blaming his tools!). ;-D Well done!
Simple is beautiful, sometimes. This is neat, really nice puzzle concept and actually quite hard to not end up crossing existing lines. Well done! (worked great in Chrome)
First comment really summed it up for me! :D Amazing art and quirky gameplay. Collision possibly seemed a bit offset, but that is being really pedantic on my part. Well done. :)
Wow, pretty hectic! Great graphics and music. One for the young'uns though, I'm am too old and too slow. :(
Exuding quality and high level of finish, well done! Though, haha, wish I'd read about Auto Mine, that was driving me crazy. Intro music put me in the mind of the Deus Ex universe. Really high quality, got a few messages in English on the grid, but missed too many to get a secret message. :D
Really fun game. Nice graphics and... erm... sounds. ;D
Very good concept. Really liked the music and mood, and the 2-tone art is really effective. Well done!
Fantastic humour, went back to check all the responses. :) I actually really liked the audio! Thought it fit very well.
Sometimes the simpler games are the best! Hehe, I seem to have an extra kitteh walking across the top right as well. I care not, the more kittehs the better. :3
Haha, that was pretty intense (in a very unexpected escalation). :D Brilliant production values all round.
Haha, at first I ended up shooting the cores. Derrrrp. Extra points for cats.
Really clean and well presented concept. Would be nice to see a vid of it played 'well'. (i.e., not by me! ;D ) - perhaps a basic walkthrough tutorial?
Some really nice concepts in here. (good explosion sound.. OW! ;-D ) Would be nice to see a Youtube vid of gameplay at some point as I'm not having much success.
Brilliant presentation and graphics.
You know that 80s film Scanners? Where people's heads explode. That's what this does to me. ;-D Really challenging, and a nice concept.
Hahaha, I think I need my meds. "Nurse!!!1"
I really like the perspective you're firing from, everything seems quite immense. Really like the vector chiq as well, very 80s arcadey.
Hi guys,
I tried this on my Google Nexus S, but I get a resolution textfield box and "fps" textbox superimposed on top of the screen when I try and run it. There's no way to get rid of it and touch the main game buttons undeneath. :( Music sounds good though. :]
Very high quality production values. The meteors can be a bit too random (as mentioned already), but the puzzles are interesting and the interface feels good and responsive. Well done guys, great job!
Very fun concept! Imagine if NASA could pump out ships at that rate. :D
Really nice music. Got a bit lost at one point. Impressive to see what HTML5 can do now, must investigate further. Good graphics and control feels nice and floaty. :)
Short but incredibly sweet! :D
My favourite animal! :D Reminded me a wee bit of Fire & Ice, (the water levels). Rather than looping the same bit of music, perhaps some ambient ocean sounds would have been better. Controls are great. Great artwork.
A recharge indicator for cannon would be nice (did I miss it?). Lovely island graphics.
Excellent graphics. "HEEEEE-MAN!"
Collision detection seems... a bit harsh? Perhaps that's just the web version. Or maybe I'm just a rubbish player. ;)
After some initial confusion, discovered a really neat concept here. Would love to see a bit more of the gameworld, but that might mean making it a bit easier. I like the sounds!
Fab game! Really good graphics and excellent music. First few levels made me think it was too easy, but the difficulty ramps up nicely.
Heehee, I love the way the various bits wobble on the ends. Got through it pretty quickly. I care not though, for I am sucker for isometric polygons. :] Well done, fab wee game.
Very smart concept! Good thing I'm up on my math. :) Interface is very polished as well. The whole thing feels very clean and finished.
Nice game. Thought I'd figured it out but got 0 marks. :d Really lovely atmosphere and mood. Well done.
Cool, quit innovative gameplay. Would perhaps like some distinction between wormhole entrance and wormhole exit. Great game though, would be well worth polishing up a bit post-compo and releasing.
Very cool! (took me a while to realise, click button, then each settlement) By the way, input didn't seem to work on Chrome, but worked fine in Firefox, just in case anyone has a similar issue.
Well don't I just love this! Retro feel, lovely music, pixel art. Good scores all round. :D
Nice! Glad it's not insta-death on hitting the asteroids. Nice idea with the asteroids growing.
For the stairs, you need to be brave! Launch off them and then change direction mid-air. :)
Argh, sorry guys, you're right!
"Input.GetKeyDown(KeyCode.Space)" should be:- "Input.anyKeyDown"
I think this fix is acceptable in the Rules, so I'll upload new versions with that fixed.
In the start room, try pressing Z a few times. He should flip from going UP to DOWN (isometrically) each time. Pressing X flips him from LEFT to RIGHT (isometrically).
It's meant to be a bit confusing, but I didn't intend it to annoy people as much as it did. Looks like Stavros isn't the only one with major butthurt. Eh, ToaPhoenix?
Sorry, apologies to ToaPhoenix.
The controls DO suck, and I'm to blame for that. Not TaoPhoenix's fault for making perfectly valid criticism. Sorry.
Post-Compo Changes:
- fixed anyKey by changing prompt to space (and esc for menu)
- found Physics code that should be in FixedUpdate() instead of Update() - some of you may have had crazy Physics going on dependant on your computer speed!!
Cool concept, and the timing was balanced just right, I think. As a previous commentator said, just the right side of frustrating (which is called "challenging"). Nice work! :)
Very good indeed! Very innovative, well done. :)
High scores all round for this one, very nice indeed! What a beautiful clean graphical style. Tricky puzzles later on as well.
Haha, I love everything about it. The humor and aesthetic are top. Nice work. :D
I'm getting old, my reactions aren't fast enough! ;D
Love the chippy music and retro oldskool fee. :)
Excellent! Really excellent! A genious idea, and a cool implementation (though I'd say 'hold' right arrow rather than 'use' right arrow... at first nothing was happening). But seriously this is the sort of game I look forward to in LD, really good fun.
Aside from some collision issues, a very clean and aesthetically pleasing game! Had some instances where I was on the same line but didn't seem to register hits (when 2 slimers were together) but other than that no major issues.
Beautiful graphics and sound. Nice concept as well, very polished for a Compo entry. It did freeze for me, but doesn't seem to have happened to too many other commenters. Great work!
Haha, fun game! Looks like we had a similar themes, isometric, direction switching. I like the audio too, "Merry Christmas!". :D
What a beautiful and pleasant game. Very serene. :) On Mac here, so switching between click and two-finger-click is even more challenging. An option for a key equivalent would be nice.
Very cool concept! Love me some Lovecraftian gaming. Didn't take too long to get the hang of it. Would be good to have adventurers lose members when they pass into fully controlled sections from monsters.
Beautiful, very clean and polished work for a compo game, nice one! :)
Well, I was a bit confused, I collected resources and then, with nothing else on the planet the camera just slowly zoomed away. That said, nice graphics and pleasant happy feel to the game.
Great production quality, nice work!
Proper oldskool, I love it. :D Even though I'm on Mac, it runs perfectly with WINE.
Nice game, the music's very cheery. :D
Nice take on a classic theme. :)
Nice production work for the graphics. A bit confused as to what I'm doing, but had fun doing it. :)
Great! I had to switch to fullscreen because one of the buttons was out of the window bounds. Nice work. :D
Tough little game, but beautifully realised. :)
Very good! Collision detection a bit iffy, but maybe that's just me being rubbish at playing it. :D
"shoot the ALIENS until they die! " -- these are the BESTEST games. :P Nice game, excellent graphics, runs perfectly in WINE on OSX. Thanks for reviewing my game.
What a fascinating little game. Beautiful graphics and nice sound.
Very well put together! Almost impossible with my trackpad (macbook), will have to plug in a mouse later and try again. (curious to see the bigger scale bits) :)
Attractive take on an old classic. :)
I keep winning, but I'm not 100% sure how. :D That said, I'm not complaining! Beautiful music.
Very good indeed, good implementation of both themes. Excellent presentation.
Hee-hee, I won! (I guess) :P
Nice, does exactly what it says on the tin! Liked the music too. :)
Beautiful game! <3 But oof, it's pretty tough. Very innovative, nice work!
Collision detection a bit merciless, but ran absolutely fine on OSX here. Great art, tough game, a good entry! :)
The timer seemed to stop for me after 47 seconds? Possibly the MIA issue you mentioned. Nice idea though, I actually quite like the programmer art!
On Mac and no webplayer, would like to try this.
I shot people and drank alcohol... just another day I guess. ;-D I like the animated style of this, well done. Thanks for reviewing my game.
Cool little take on the 'snake' game. On OSX, Ctrl + arrows did something funky... D: But as long as I don't press them at the same time, it's fine. :D
Nice game! I'm on OSX, but actually ran the executable through WINE with no problems at all.
This game looks beautiful, I so want it to work! First attempt the blue guy moves without leaving thread. Next attempt he does, but never attaches to more than one tree. Third attempt he moves south and doesn't stop moving. I'm going to bookmark this as it's lovely and I really want to play it. :) (I haven't rated yet)
Awesome flashbacks to my Atari ST days! Love the art, the music, everything. :)
Cool idea! Oh, if only we had friends. ;D My rating is taking into account an ideal scenario, so good scoring.
Fun little game, I like the minimalist aesthetic. :)
Wow, the production levels on this are outstanding! Gorgeous and polished feel. Went from very easy to very hard very quickly, but that's okay. Amazing work guys, you should be really proud!
