I wasn't able to run this game :-(
Win7 on a laptop with intel graphics card.

I wasn't able to run this game :-(
Win7 on a laptop with intel graphics card.
Now that I have a web applet up and running, this problems should vanish...
Sorry, I didn't fully understand this game :-(
Chaotic game, but I liked the 2 guns mechanic and transforming enemies into thinks!
Sometimes you kill your enemies and is Game Over, thought...
I played the game for a while, but I didn't find a goal. Beautyfull graphics and sound, ambientation was also great, even not really connected to theme.
Majestic graphics, probably the best of all entries (I hadn't played them all). Gameplay had also interesting elements, but I found the controls quite challenging and not always did what I wanted.
Overall, the artistic team did a wonderfull job, and the programming team executed it very well (I love the trace you leave).
Didn't quite understand the game, but found some promising ideas (guide a civilization to it's improvement, etc...)
I'm sorry for the mac inconvenience, I do not own a mac and I can not do any tests :-(
In my mind it could be related to 2 issues:
1 - using Java 7
2 - using OpenGL > 3
but may be almost anything, 'cause I used a engine I never used before, so I'm in the dark.
@Benjamin: I didn't add art post compo, just art copyright notices for images I found in the web, and the music, so you can find it too, I think is wonderfull.
And yes I should make a table version of this game. I'm actually planning on doing a free Android version for the Octover Challenge, and then I will see if I do something else with it.
I really enjoyed creating the game mechanics and I do want to play this game agains a human (AI in this game isn't very strong, if you noticed :D)
Love the graphics, sound needs some work and the concept is fantastic!
I found the game slightly unbalanced or plainly hard to play (larger enemies where faster than me and I couldn't understant the mechanic to break out)
It's hard to get used to the rules, but once you get, it's quite a fun game!
Nice graphics. Mechanics hard to learn, thought...
I gess I'll go with "hard" game. Fun overall, GJ.
Cool one.
Great "classic" adaptation. I have to agree with prev comments that controlls are a bit "chunky"
Mathy, simple, fun. Really enjoyable!
For those using linux (and maybe OS/X, I can't test) I added a simple script with the correct java call to init the game.
And yes, the game's fps drops at the end, I had no time to make some optimizations (quad trees comes to mind).
@Cheshyr I can't express how happy your comment made me :D
The moment you made something sim-ant-resembling, you got me.
I didn't really understand this game. Maybe I'd need to see the movie?
Too short... but that was the point. How can you reset the game?
Good time-killer.
Amazing artwork. The "race" level was bugged for me, thought :-(
Really cool game!
I tested that on MAC OS X and works wonderfully ;-)
I just have no words
I really liked this game! You may want to try mine, as we approached the theme in a similar way ;-)
Fantastic! The best entry I've found (for now)!!!!! Really, I am amazed.
maybe I'll add a wiki xD
Great, original game. Nice :D
I know people have already commented it, but I'll say it anyway:
- If you can change the direction of the ball, I didn't find how. This is important because the resource idea gets wasted if you can't aim the ball (and I really liked that idea).
- The pad moves at the same speed as the ball. Again, this just makes the game harder with no reason. You only get to follow the ball, no decision making. And no decision making makes me sad :-(
Couldn't find the key to shoot, so I had to rely on gameplay video to score. I liked it very much, anyway!
Battlecats references are allways good. Drags a little at the end, because you don't win based on the speed of your guys, but on the numbers of them, so upgrading your building really does nothing. Nice music.
Great, great, great starting point. It is hard to find the fun in this but you can really see how this can be debeloped into a great thing.
Cons are lack of explanation of what you should do, and a music loop too short, but in 48 hors this is really great. Lot of potential.
EPIC! I really enjoyed being an a**ho**. Nice concept.
Impresive. I've always liked this kind of games, althought I miss some depth. Bold move both in genre and programming language.
Nice concept. There isn't obviouslly much to do :-D
Creepy as hell, I only played the "original" version and I don't know if everything got fixed, but I have to say that the parallax feels wrong. The background goes faster when it should go slower, I think...
Great production (audio, graphics, control, animation... superb) but poor game design (try everything, and die). I got bored pretty fast on a otherwise promising game.
Nice concept. A little hard to control and you get stuck a little too often, but good overall.
I am AMAZED by the amount of content and polish of this game, really.
Really nice. Maybe you should balance the difficulty.
First of all: awesome graphics.
Gameplay is good. It took me a while to get it (I tend not to read instructions :-P) but anyway, you can play it for a while having fun. It may be worth to deepen the concept, if you like it.
I see where you wanted to put the theme, but the end result ended having few of it. Maybe you'd miss backgrounds (FF-like?) but I understand making those is (very) time consuming.
Nice idea and art work. Try adding some sound, that would make the experience more enjoyable!
I really liked the game's atmosphere. Is there any end to the level progression or ring collection?
REUS?
I'll play that this evening as soon as I have time :D
Ok, I see what you mean with "failed experiment".
Problem is, I have no musical ear, so I got no idea what I was supposed to do. Some focus testing whould have helped. Concept is amazing. Controls need some refineming, but wathever...
That was so metal I can't even hold my laughter. For some reason my berserker get's stuck any time I click the mouse button.
Even though "running" without legs and just one arm killing things really made my day.
P.S.: AWESOME
Impresive, clever game. Gave me a good time :D
Nice interpretation on the theme. Really hard for me, as I lost almost everytime :-(, frustrating. Maybe a dificulty setting could have improved this.
Art and sound are superb. And good writing too.
Couldn't find my way past the first platform :-(
A zoomed out camera to view the entire scenario and progressive difficulty would make this gorgeos. Leaving that aside, origami dinosaurs with !)="$/!")=$/) jetpacks, just awesome.
Interesting game, interesting mechanics.
One thing I may have found is: It was very hard to solve the puzzles at the begining, but as soon as I discovered a "method", the became really easy ;-)
Great idea!!! Turned to be really fun :D
Oooooooh this game!!!!
The controlls are a bit chunky, as the collision detection gets you blocked on walls.
Now that the bad things are behind us, I LOVE THIS GAME. The way rumors "bounce back" to you, the theme, the concept... great job!
The game is fun even when the controls are a bit hard to get (at least for me :P)
It took a while for me to figure out you had to return the snowmen, and then you can really screw you up if you go there too much, as the game becomes hard very fast as the number of kids increase.
Beatuful and fun, nevertheless ;-D
I love the way the level is morphing while you move, althoug I had to reset the game 2 times bcs I was trapped :-/
Controls a little bit rought to, but nothing to be ashamed of :D
The music and the graphics (moving shadow, for example) set a gread mood.
Good work :D
Sorry, I had a problem with the submission form.
Now the link is ok >.<
I liked the concept! Rithm-battle game is great, but the difficulty curve may be a little too step :-P
I god a tendinitis. Nice clicker.
I wish it had a full menu. Graphics and colors are well chosen and gameplay is nice.
A classic runner game with a good sense of humor. Ogre stole my pie :(
Ooops, last comment need an explanation.
We are 3 in the team and only I can make puntuations, so my partners score games and give me the list... and I screwed up, sorry.
Here's what I was supposed to say: "Very challenging and innovative. Game mechanics are fun and appealing to the theme. The music and storytelling fit perfectly. Great game!"
I hope you forgive us u.u
This one actually made me feel bad about myself. I'd take this as a good thing.
Internet, you did it again. The approach to the theme is very interesting. Being able to talk to other monsters about current politic and society was quite enjoyable. The music feels appropriate though it sounds a bit clunky. A joyful experience overall :)
Really nice graphics & music, congratulations.
I didn't understand where to go or what i had to do. but nice graphics and music!
Interesting approach. Would have loved to see more levels that the tutorial one ;)
Loved the game! A brilliant approach to the topic with some storytelling involved. I had no sound at all for some reason :(
Interesting approach. I liked the art style (very "Manic mansion"-ike). The music became repetitve after a while and some sFX whould have been great.
The text gets hard to read, and I had a "missing dll" problem when executing it (it was openal32, lukilly I had it somewhere in my PC :D).
The gameplay feels so smooth and killing sprees are awesome! I didn't find the approch to be theme-like, but it was an enjoyable experience ;)
One of the best art pieces I've seen in ludum dare. visuals & sounds really come together.
Congratulations!
More DoTs! More DoTs! I loved the game and played it through the end! Felt like a boss (pun intended).
Check our game, we took a very similar approach to the theme so I think you'll like it ;)
What an interesting one.
First, Art and Audio is superb, really really got me into the mood. The gameplay is different and I enjoyed it.
After some "seasons" the game turns repetitive. And I didn't understand if I was playing "bad" or it's just impossible to win.
Also, there is no way to close the game, I think :-/
Overall, very good experience. :D
Really liked the voxel aesthetics and how they fit with fireballs destroying everything. Speaking of which, their behavior is a bit counter-intuitive, being their alive time constant instead of their travelling speed.
Are the peasants revolting? Or are they just defending themselves?
A classic runner game with a good sense of humor. Ogre stole my pie :(
Give those peasants some smack! Splendorous graphics and smooth gameplay. However, I don't see how it fits the theme.
Controls are a bit chunky, but graphics and animations are great!
Nice, nice, nice.
Absolutely loved the "narration" style you took. The story was catchy and very original on the theme.
Art style & sound "design" worked very well even thought some details could be improved (animations come to mind).
Great entry overall.
I really liked the monster and the people with their dying animation. Maybe a simple texture for the buildings and a better camera would make it a much enjoyable experience.
Well, PIN32PPLE, the game really is not online, it only simulates to be.
Pip , pip,, piipppp piiiiiiiiiip!
Really funny!
Nice twist on good old snacke. The fact that all objects where going at the same speed as the worm made the game somewhat hard, but I don't know if this was intentional.
Nice base mechanic. Gameplay can be refined (specially wall collision) but the idea looks promising. Great job.
I liked both audio and spetially the graphics. Animations were great too, and particles had been well chosen.
It's a bit hard to aim/control, and there's not much to do after a while (or so it seems).
Very original but not a game :-(
The game is great, but it is quite difficult to assess if you are doing well or not in it.
I liked the sthetic but other people are right saying that the static noise is a bit harsh.
This game is really promising but it may lack a tutorial and I was a bit lost at the beginning.
The graphics are really well chosen and transport you into the game.
Perfect game for cats as a 3rth players.
Gread mechanic!
The base idea is good and it can be refined for the better. The difficulty escalated way too quickly for me.
Nice art and music, even thoug it becomes a little repetitive after a while.
Let me give you some advice:
- Bound boxes are larger than the objects. This is SO frustrating.
- Try buffering the jump option a while before landing. This makes the controls more user friendly.
Nice game overall.
Oh greeeeeat!!!
It felt like Tetris, but with a totally different mechanic. I loved it!
There was a issue nonetheless: the fact that you have to change the state to shoot makes the game unnecessary harder. Maybe a button to add and another to substract whould've done the job.
Very original idea :+1:, but it gets boring after a while
your game reminds us monument Valley.
Well thank you James.
A few notes for anything coming after:
There is a bug in the background when you get too away from the center. I noticed it too late and it's only aesthetical, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The spam the keys to get better firerate is actually intentional, but I'd change to a lesser rate if I could now due to balancing reasons, the game was balanced for gamepad anyway.
An thank you for noting the acceleration issue, I'll try to fix that first when (if) I do a post-compo version :-P
Very original and a funny entry. The music is very well chosen.
Nice game!!
Is it me or you can't navigate the menus with the keyboard? Is a little frustrating when you play from it and have to switch to mouse!
Back to the game, maybe a little too short, but was fun nontheless.
Nice and sweet game. I loved the pixel art and the controls are responsive.
This is an interesting one.
Stetically is awesome, the music puts you in the mood. I survived for a while but I thing the ball sometimes moved to the cursor, and sometimes away from it :-/
I literally ran out of power playing this game
5/5
Nice game overall, but I miss being able to shoot while running away :-P (keyboard)
The game is fun, with good balance of difficulty. And the voice over of the TV is very very funny.
Great job!!!
P.S.: Thanks for warning that the game doesn't "end". ;-)
Nice entry! The game seems a little uninviting at first, being a console game, but it does have it's charm. The different symbols are a bit not intuitive, I whould try some rare characters for each of the things, but it was accessible enough (after the first "wow, a console game" xD)
Changing the destription, but you can install OpenAL from here: https://www.openal.org/downloads/oalinst.zip
Nice game! It reminds me some of the ideas we had when starting our entry! :-P
Great LD entry, I really had fun playing it. If I'd had to improve something, I'd try to add variations on the sound effects because they get very repetitive after a while.
O hey, nice take on the theme!
I really liked the art style. The controls are nice but it is sometimes hard to get the batteries where you want them. You have to take a few steps back first, and I don't feel this was intentional. Also, the game is confusing at first, but once you get it it's a good game.
I really liked the ambience of this game. Also, the fact that you follow a light instead of an avatar is both innovative and nice.
Very nice aesthetic and well chosen music!
I felt the controlls (collisions) need some work, but I really loved the metroidvania level design!
I think it's the first time I encounter a mini-game collection in Ludum Dare. Great Work!
Nice idea but there are a few rough corners you should fix.
The first is that it is very difficult to predict where you're conna hit. Music & Gameplay get repetitive pretty fast too.
Overall is not a bad game and the idea is quite original, keep up the good work!
This is a solid base, nice work!
I'll contribute with the stated gameplay problem. Sometimes you just can't get all the debries. There are a variety of solutions to this. One whould be to control better the randomness, but you could also have a spetial skill that helped you get the hard ones. If that skill is limited, you'll have a nice gameplay choice!
Simple and nice first entry, congrats for finishing it!
I liked the music and the mood, but I kind of got lost in the level. I thing I noticed the darkness looming into you wich was a nice idea :-D
Took a minute to get the game, but it's imaginative and quite fun. Well done!
Really lovely art style!!!
Liked this game. The maze level and the backtracking really fit each other and the race-like gameplay is compelling!
If I have to point something to improve is that the collisions are harder than they should be when trying to enter a door and you have to correct your position most of the time. This kind of things are hard to pull of but believe me they are really worth it!
Great, well rounded entry. The graphics and the music are well done, but the sound effects could be improved. It also gets really hard really fast, so I got killed several times very fast :-P
Really interesting idea. A little slow but I thing that is what you were aiming at. Excel·lent mood, excel·lent music, superb visual style.
Weeee I finished the game!!!
Great multitasking game. Simple and stressfull :D
Nice little game, I had the mouse way too sensible so I rotated too fast, I don't know if it's my fault or the game is that way.
I actually played for longer than I pretended so... good job hehe
I really loved the idea, but some part of the implementation made the game harder than it should.
I have a really bad memory so forgot what the symbols meant while playing in the firsts runs. Maybe better icons for some of the actions or a label on the cards may have helped me.
I also had problems knowhin wich tile I was placing the stuff.
Overall a gread game idea with great potencial, I did love this game!
great educational game!! I've always loved to draw with maths :D
Thank you for all your comments!
We know the game has some serius pitfalls and that we tried to do far more that we should in 3 days, but your kind comments are really good for us! :D
Sorry @Unentokku those are probably bugs.
* the gl bug it's probably because ATI drivers may be stricter than NVidia drivers and I only tested NVidia (it's what I got). Web version is fine because it uses a slightly different shaders. * Warm/Cold cauldrons are supposed to make warm/cold tints faster, but it's possible we messed up setting the available inputs. * Sell/Move of stations was planned, but we couldn't implement it at the end :-(
It doesn't seem I'll loose any time soon orcs.png
Great mix!! A little slow, though, but the level design is great and I found it quite original.
Nice entry!
I understand it's hard to try a new tool while jamming. It's usually not recommended but I've done it a couple of times so I totally understand you!
The game is a bit hard to get and a bit unresponsive, you should work on giving feedback to the player when they interact with it.
It's a cool minigame but I had a hard time trying to remember who was playing :P
I liked the game but I found it way too hard. I first I was a bit lost with the controls but then I got used to them and I had a bit of fun :D
It's a great and quiete stressfull game. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but lost at the last wave!
It tooke a while to get what I was doing but in the end it's a nice concept!
Cool mix up. Makes me thing of rocket league (wich I've never played). Good work!
