Super Dino Dino Attack by FrederickK 2015-08-26T04:38:00
The controls worked for me. Just had to get used to the timing. I like the timer, gives a bit of pressure to the experience!

Awesome! Great mechanics and as others have mentioned, even tho the graphics are simple, they don't distract from the play. What does distract a bit is the lack of any sounds. Hard to set a mood without some sound, especially when the visuals are basic. Can't wait to see where this goes.
The background music is awesome -- maybe not as mood inspiring as some minor chord progressions would be for a monster smashing ships. Impressive work for 6hrs! Lots that could be enhanced here. Would love to see where you take it, but sounds like you're pretty done with it.
Great way to do music! Never thought of that. The monster is pretty hilarious-looking too.
That crazy chaotic music was just perfect. Nice looking and fun to play. Nice job!
The story was awesome..."Milky was riding his sauce..." LOL Love the puzzle dynamics. Only thing missing is some feedback sound. Great job!
This is really great. Loads of fun and a fantastic feeling of progression. Great Job!
Awesome! With respect to the scope of the dare, this was executed very nicely. Looks like a great framework for a more advanced title that could be more interactive. As mentioned elsewhere, not much in the way of game elements here, but the presentation and story are great and lavishly garnish the LD theme. Great job.
Looks great! Gameplay was a little bit of a button smash tho. Didn't quite feel like there was much strategy to it. Very polished and great scoreboard. Perhaps if it was slowed down and there was more to the selection of the tentacle to do the best, timed and directed damage?
108 - Nice job, pretty fun! Maybe change the render layer or use a different shader on the letters to ensure their visibility. The difficulty also seems to ramp up too quickly.
Nice! Super simple but awesome mechanic makes for a fun but challenging game. The level with all the spinning and ping-pong saw blades was a bloodbath, but I finally made it past. Great job!
Love the graphic style and animation. The sounds are nice as well. I have to agree with the khahem about figuring where to jump. And, it seems that if you get stuck on one jump/slide, there is no recovery and it can ruin a whole series and end the game. I didn't make it to the end, so I don't know what's in store...yet. I'm hoping there is something that ties the theme in with the game. I didn't rate the theme yet because I'm sure that has to be where it all ties in. OK, I'll play one more time... ;)
Played a couple more times. :) Made it to 581. Seem to be getting better at judging the timing. Absolutely LOVE the music. Great job on that Jeremy! Very solid and enjoyable experience. I want to make it to the end. I've got to make it to the end... ;)
I didn't have audio either. Popping the balloons was fun. Perhaps some sort of dynamic that challenges you to pop all balloons before they leave the screen to challenge the popping skills? Or maybe I'm just a monster and wanted to pop all of their balloons...regardless what the parents thought... muuuaaahhhaaaahaaaa ;)
Nice graphics and audio. The base attack projectile has no velocity and feels like I can't do anything with it. I got the red shot once and that was cool. I think the initial attach should be weak, but maybe a bit more useful. Nice game!
Lemmings and Amiga 500 flashbacks...what's not to love!
Pretty fun, I loved the language acquisition mechanic. The controls were a little floaty, and the footstep sounds were more business man in a suit than squishy monster. The music was great.
Really fun, and nice progression.
Really fun game and those sounds brought me right back to the days of Defender and Joust. I'd love to see a future release with a bit more control and visual polish. Great job!
Love the possession dynamics for puzzling.
Like the level-up choices. Seemed like the people stopped running from me after a couple of attacks. Lack of sounds was a missed opportunity, but I can see this evolving into something quite fun.
It looks beautiful, the curved world adds a nice interesting perspective, and the music is perfect! My only critique is the camera movement. It feels parented to the player which adds all the little player jitters and twitches to the camera for a slightly dizzying effect. Add a little camera dampening and it will be fantastic. Great job!
Nice puzzles. Great compo!
Feels like a modern day Spy Hunter...great job!
The mechanics feel good. I feel like, I should be the one trying to cut in line (as the monster) and am pulverizing those in line to get to my Black Friday special. Have some customers fight back, give me a health bar, and turn it into a Best-Buy boxing match to claim a $10 4K t.v.!!! ;)
Nice work for a compo entry. The fixed camera angle made it a little too claustrophobic. I'm not sure I completely understood the back-story and therefore I lost the relation to the theme.
Really a great game!
There isn't a lot of game play here, the but the environment and atmospherics are top-notch. Amazing theme loyalty, I felt very much like the monster. Nice job!
Great sound and a nice look. It delivered a fun flowing story. If you decide to take this further, the monster fights seem a little out of genre and might be jarring to fans of this slower paced style of game. Nice job!
This is pretty fun, the controls are good, but I wish they were arrow or q,w,e,a,s,d based. Would also like to see the people roam around a bit more. Overall nice job!
Very enjoyable, I finished all the levels. A nice soft background music track and I would have lost hours in there. Good job!
It's a good start. I agree with the comments about the jump action needing to be more dynamic (height=hold duration) and maybe heavier gravity so it doesn't feel so floaty. Good job!
Great music and sound effects! Loved the squeals of the sailors.
I'm just your average Hell spawn trying to get ahead in this bureaucratic hellhound eat hellhound underworld. Seriously though, this is super cool!
Great art! Haven't played one of these in quite some time.
Really cool concept! Makes playing the ghosts so much more fun than playing pacman.
That is a seriously cool bullet time effect. First time I played through, something errored and there was no countdown timer, so I didn't experience the end, which really is what makes the theme. I decided to try it again and the game worked as intended. Awesome ending. If you don't make it to the end, don't rate this game until you do. Great job Crosstales!
Hooked me in immediately. Great and simple mechanic with the right look and sound. A bit of fine tuning and some achievements, and it's ready for market. My score: Peeps(67) Distance(11,495)
I really enjoyed playing this!! I like the level of difficulty. It took a bit of hunting skills to catch the critters. I like the game idea. It fits the theme very well! good work!
I loved it! Who knew a Fly movie / Metroid game combo was exactly what I've been yearning for. Great job, more levels, more story please!
Love the juicy splatter...just felt I saw it way too much. Agree with everyone here that the guards are a little too precise and a little too quick. I almost cleared level 4, but as mentioned, the strategies I used weren't always repeatable. I just found the strategies that worked most of the time. Otherwise, loved the mechanics, nearly perfect on the controls. Just enough for variation, but not too much for finger fumble at the wrong time.
One of the best so far. Looks great, sounds great, and really fun to play. The great controls offer tons of strategy options. Nice work!
Great atmospherics. Loved the audio and visuals. But the levels were difficult to really piece together, I had no real sense of where I was going. Sometimes I'd end up in locations that didn't really fit with the direction that I moved. Nice dynamic tho. Love stealth games.
I generally like virus style games. But I don't think I understood what was going on here. Looks like there is a solid base for something here..I think the lack of feedback for what I was trying to do is what confused me.
Love it! It looks and sounds fantastic, I'm excited to play more levels.
Nice stealth puzzle. Sound would really anchor the mood.
One of my favorites so far. Fantastic!
Fun little arcade game. I found the controls difficult to use since I had to face the direction I wanted to shoot. But, that's probably part of the appeal and difficulty. ;) Good job!
Wonderful creepy atmosphere and camera/sound effects. I wish the game play had a bit more depth, but nice job!
Great, just great! Please make more, and diversify the game play.
Nice game! I love the mix of 2D characters in a 3D environment with modern lighting. The 2D artwork is great, and the music was very fitting. Overall I had fun playing, but here are a few things I noticed in case you decide to take this further.
1. The colliders should be disabled on dead troopers so they don't interfere with movement.
2. Add progressive waypoints so you don't have to traverse a bunch of map you've already done.
2. Increase movement speed.
Great job!
Unfortunately, this wouldn't run for me. Tried to launch twice and nothing came up. Looks like the graphics are awesome from the screenshots.
Nice game play with fantastic art and sound. Really nice job!
Nice art and sound. Great combat and animation.
I had so much fun! Hiding in the woods and then charging at the hikers is a fabulous idea!! This game has great potential.
Yeah, i had to play this again today. It makes me giggle!
Pretty neat! I have no idea if I was controlling it correctly, but I was certainly making a lot of noise. I got stuck on the big hill climb and couldn't figure out how to jump high or fast enough.
Ahhh...I get it...Monster 'Disco'...hehehe At first I just thought the controls were wonky...then it dawned on me and I began rhythm bouncing in my chair as I tongue whipped the enemies. AWESOME!
Wow...this is an impressive entry!
I'm not sure what I should be doing in the game? The graphics are cute. That's about all I can comment on.
It was interesting. The controls seemed to be a little buggy, couldn't always jump and seemed to fall through the floor at times when there was actually floor there. I found the dynamic interesting (revealing the floor as you moved on it), but perhaps there could be more clues as to how to reveal it without just taking a leap of faith. Or perhaps there was some dynamic there that I just missed.
I love the look and sound, but it was way to hard for me, which made it frustrating.
This is a hilarious interpretation of the theme. Great job!
Great looking and fun. Pretty hard.
You've got some great bones for an adventure game here! Was fun to play.
Really great, nice job!
Really nice graphics and animations.
Love it! Couldn't stop playing. Love the upgrade dynamic. Seemed like a lot of the laser shots didn't hit at times. But overall, a lot of fun. Great Job!
It looks great! I think a few more sounds triggered on interaction would have added to the effect. Good job!
Great fun!!! Love the monster 'fake scared' look..LOLOL Great artwork and sound effects.
Fantastic! Great humor, nice game mechanic (it's fun to play on the other side), award winning voice over work (slight exaggeration). A really fun game, and a great submission. Great job!
Nice take on runner dynamics. Addictive...just one more round, I can crush more of those do-gooder boxes...
The audio was great! I'm not sure I fully understood the "game" portion of "Don't touch the shreader". It looks like it could be great beginnings of an adventure-styled game. Would like to see more choices in a cause/effect manner. The graphics really aren't my style, but I can appreciate the effort involved and appeal for some players.
Absolutely love that you used BGE to develop this. I agree with other comments that it's way too dark and the controls were not very intuitive. Had no idea where I was supposed to be herding the adventurer. Great idea for a game and loved the voice overs!!!
Great style, with a simple and fun control mechanism.
Nice take on the theme. Good little defense sapper.
Awesome virus-style game. Love these things. Was very satisfying building my army up and then crushing the castle! ;) Good job.
Good fun! Like scaling the walls and ground pounding! ;)
Nice physics and hilarious animations.
Fun game, nice style, and cool lighting and effects. Great job!
Wow! Super fun hoovering up all the little humans. Can't wait to see more from this game. Hope you are going to develop it further. Wish it was a little more difficult. And LOVE the black hole for human collecting. Great Job!
My teammate already rated this but wow, it's so good I couldn't resist sharing a little more love. This is really top notch fun. So many fantastic ways to gobble up the puny humans. I think I've already played more of this game than any of the other 120+ we've played and reviewed. I played the post LD version since our team already rated on the original. Great job!
Cool city (town) builder with a dark theme. I would love to play it with a bit more variation from season to season. Great job!
Funny take on the theme. I love the idle animation, it's great!
There's something strangely fun about luring someone in with a trick and then smashing them like a grape! ;) I'd say you nailed the theme and the mood!
Great game! Beautiful artwork. Love the sound effects and the strategic management dynamics. I hope you are going to develop this further! Saw it while @Split82 was playing it and had to give it a try. Great job!
So i got down to 1 fairy left. I figured you kill the fairies on the outside first before they spread out so far that they are off screen. It would be nice to at least have a chance if you miss the fairies on the outer circle before they spread too far. Maybe have them cross the screen real fast? I had 15 seconds left and didn't see a single fairy. Even with that being said. I LOVE this game! I would definitely play it over and over again.
Perfect play on the theme! Great implementation. Love it.
Really cool lighting effects, and a funny premise.
Fantastic game! Great style, simple and fun mechanic, and nice strategy. Great job!
There is safety in the horde! Great virus game! Good job.
Nice art, cool music. The gradient on the bars made them hard to understand.
Thanks, we just tested on mac WebGL and see the symptom you described. We're working on a mac build now.
We've uploaded Windows, Mac, and Linux desktop version for anyone having issues with the WebGL version. We have confirmed issues with the WebGL version in Safari, though it seems to run fine in Firefox on Mac.
@CosmicAdventureSquad were you using Safari? If so, a somewhat simple fix is to try Firefox if you have it. Safari seems to have a hard time rendering correctly.
bombjack, if you were using the webgl version, there seems to be issues with Unity webgl in Safari. It should work well on Firefox or the desktop Mac version. Thanks for your feedback.
I was waiting for it... and then the monster saw me and it got exciting! I agree the idea is good, but the escapist moving so slowly was a turn off in the beginning. Maybe use a bigger map so that the escapist can move faster?
This is hilariously funny, polished, and a really solid entry!
It's a funny idea, but desperately needed animation to top off the humor of it. I might also suggest adding more gravity to make the controls feel less floaty, and a variable jump force decided by the press duration. Nice job!
Good music, but the destruction sound was way over driven and blown out. Interesting idea with a dark premise. Good job!
Hehe - some good maze puzzle fun here. I like the dynamic that if I still want to go over a road-block, I can, it just makes noise. Pretty neat. As you make it to the bed, seems like there should be a little more fanfare there, at least some cool sound. And perhaps the timer should not completely reset, but just get a few added bonus points to it. I sort of felt like I could play it forever. Good job!
Beautiful art with an interactive story with a nice message about perception and acceptance. Well done!
Level spawning is really cool. It seemed easier as the levels got higher. More room to run around and get your bearings before being attacked I suppose. Good submission!
This is pretty great, especially for a 72 hour project. I read your Postmortem, and can relate on wishing you had more time to get all the things you wanted in, but there's plenty to be proud of here. Good job!
This is very good! Great artwork and super cool dynamic store elements as you progress.
Not bad. I think some actual battle sounds and some more melancholy music might have set the mood and the action a bit more solidly. Had some problem with the controls while moving between scenes, had to lift the key and then press again. It was a little disconcerting going blind into the next cell. Doesn't seem like the enemy ever really attacked me. I think there's some really good elements here that will be awesome if you develop it further. Good job!
The effect of losing it was stunning. I've never felt worse about winning.
I must say, the graphics are absolutely adorable!!! This is a great start to a game! The concept is cute, even though it involves people bursting, but i like it! I'm not sure how long I could play the game as it currently is. I felt my ADHD pulling me away as i got to the 20th hug. If you continue to develop (which i hope you do!) making the number of hugs shorter or the obstacles more challenging will make the game more appealing to those that get easily distracted. I wish I could hear the music. There was a rumbling sound that overpowered the music. Huzzah and great job!
Cool shader effect! The map was so dark in places it made it easy to get turned around. Nice entry.
I loved the graphics and I loved the music! The concept is fantastic. I love the idea of the baby solving the puzzle on how to reach the cat. I am a little disappointed in how much proof of concept this is and not as much game play. I found it difficult to move the baby anywhere and was confused by which items could be used to reach the cat. Definitely a great game to pursue.
The character art is fantastic. I like the idea of the run around maze, but the attack is so slow I couldn't hit anyone.
Curse you flaming cannon balls!!! This is pretty fun, but the push wall at the top of the stairs is a little wonky. Nice lighting, and great music.
Very satisfying gun play and explosions. Inserting moments of clarity throughout with some sprite swaps and possibly a visual effect to relay a sense of disorientation could have done a lot to make the theme tie-in more obvious for those that didn't play through. Great job!
Great pixel art and cool premise. I definitely think this could be stretch into a full game, with a bit more control and level diversity. Nice job!
AWESOME! Great mechanics! So far, I'm not really good at it, but I love it and plan to get a lot better. Really nice. Great Job!
This is bonkers crazy and so fun. Nice job!
This has really cool potential, but the current physics and pick and place mechanic made it a bit frustrating.
The game is really fun, but I didn't like the movement controls on a diagonal axis. I couldn't get used to the controls. Otherwise a really great entry!
Super game, I had a few of the Coleco mini arcade games as a kid, and this completely replicates those fond childhood memories. I love the coffee table layout, and the ability to interact a bit with the device. Sounds fit the style perfectly. Awesome job!
Same as HongerTrollie, I could place houses but couldn't spawn units.
Simple and sweet, great music, and a nice theme interpretation. Well done!
Super polished and quite addictive. Every time the bats and squids came out, I kept panicking and would drop off before the next platform was available. I love the spray gun! Great!
As soon as the game loads, my character immediately runs to the left and falls off the world. Looks nice, from what I can see before I die.
Nice Dig Dug quality to it with the inflatable baddies. It's fun and looks and sound great. Well Done!
It's a fun game, the only issue I found was that if you die way off to one corner of the map, the UI appears off-screen. Great job, very solid entry!
@tweedle Thanks for your feedback, that is definitely the direction I'm going for in the game. I'm planning to continue development after a few days of Ludum recovery.
@yokcos700 Unfortunately, I ran out of time. The plan was for full stat and resource management, and far fewer bugs. ;)
Wow, super impressive the amount of polish you were able to achieve in such a short amount of time.
That tree is so ominous and awesome looking. Simple mechanic, but fun. I wish the knights started out a little faster.
Nice looking, great interpretation of the theme. The sound starts off with a cool Defender'esk goodness, but then spiraled into a bit of chaos.
