LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

CoinSlot by SuperDisk 2014-12-12T18:28:00

Okay, this is a fun concept to play around with (I actually had a similar idea myself a while back, albeit with programming and input/output signals rather than moving coins). The music got a bit repetitive and there isn't much replayability in the range of components available, but I could easily see this being expanded into something far more sophisticated than it already is.

Couple of bugs/notifications, when I tried to load the global viewer on Firefox it didn't seem to operate (got the music but no video) so you might want to make a note about compatibility on the game page; and when I submitted my section the image included on the TV was corrupted slightly (the black border of the image became pink) even though it appeared fine in the client. The source image was a 168x157 PNG with no transparent areas if that helps with debugging.

Randomaze by Nikteddy92 2014-12-12T18:41:00

A very interesting concept with a lot of potential for expansion. The maze generation felt a little off at times (coins being stuck in unreachable areas etc.) and after a few games I seemed to be unable to use the teleporter any more, but on the whole it was an entertaining experience.

...---... SoS Save Our Snowmen by commanderstitch 2014-12-12T19:12:00

An interesting concept with a lot of potential, but I had a lot of trouble trying to identify the target I was looking for (I ended up catching the killer by pure chance). A little more indication as to the general location of the killer (by the time I saw an explosion he had usually already moved somewhere else and killed another snowman) and a bit more variation in the snowman animations (having them all moving at the same time got a bit hard on the eyes) and I reckon it'll be pretty much there, but as it stands you did a good job given the time available :)

The MANT Experiment by AlbertoSM 2014-12-14T18:15:00

The collision detection and jumping mechanics could use a bit of polish, but on the whole this is an interesting concept with potential for expansion post-competition.

TMO by aaronjbaptiste 2014-12-08T18:56:00

A very interesting concept and an enjoyable, if short, experience. It felt a little simple at times (I was able to quickly make it to 100/100 on my first go without much difficulty) but I suspect it would not be too difficult to expand this into an even more complex and entertaining simulation. Additionally, it did feel a little confusing as to where the areas would be placed (leading me to miss-place new areas on a couple of occasions), the indicator for which area type is selected isn't very clear and it could do with a way to sell/delete areas that need replacing, but on the whole this is a very entertaining game. My Unity Web Player did crash shortly after completing the game, but that may well be a clientside issue rather than a problem with the game itself.

Letter Run by Grehg 2014-12-08T19:44:00

The game doesn't feel all that closely tied to the theme, but beyond that it's a fairly solid concept that - with some polish, some more features and a few more areas to explore - could be expanded to produce a respectable result. The graphics also show some promise; the effect on the enemies in particular was quite nice.

Litelane by furriKira 2014-12-08T17:33:00

An engaging take on a classic game. The collision detection time felt a bit unforgiving at times, I was somewhat surprised to find I could pass through my own tail and at one point a wall spawned just outside of the level boundaries, but on the whole this is an entertaining game with impressive audio and a nice art style.

BLAZE by taviandir 2014-12-08T19:51:00

An entertaining concept with nice graphics and audio to back it up. Did feel a bit awkward at times when it would either spawn me over empty space or on an island with no ways to the objectives, but that should be an easy thing to fix post-compo.

game of void by HER∆CEK 2014-12-10T20:03:00

Having worked in XNA for a while before switching to Unity, I know how long-winded it can be to write your own game engine from scratch. I look forward to seeing how you can expand your skills in the future!

Super Screen Saver by Dokthar 2014-12-10T20:59:00

Lots of interesting mechanics that result in an entertaining game. A couple of times the moving enemes did spawn almost right on top of me and killed me quickly, which is something that could be improved. The graphics are impressive and while the music took a little while to really get started it was nice once it did. On the whole, a fairly solid result :)

Title Screen by regisRquoi 2014-12-08T21:07:00

An amusing take on the terminology of the theme :P

The difficulty curve was respectable with a decent range from easy to hard (I managed to get to the first blue section, but don't have enough time to progress any further this evening). The graphics could do with a little work and the delay after each death when I have to wait for the game to zoom all the way back in again can be a bit awkward, but on the whole it's quite a fun concept.

Beams! by DiegoMustache 2014-12-08T17:47:00

I'm interested in trying this game, but Avast is throwing a warning about Win64:Evo-gen when I try to extract it (though scanning the .zip itself gives no errors). Can anyone cross-reference this on their machine and confirm whether or not this is a false-positive?

Beams! by DiegoMustache 2014-12-09T21:16:00

I can confirm that my copy of Avast is no longer giving errors after this update (Windows does notify me that it's an unknown publisher, but that's no issue), so I can now proceed with playing the game!

While it's not the first laser/mirrors puzzle game I've played, it's nonetheless very well executed. The graphics are very nice - I especially enjoyed the animation for the new levels being revealed. It did feel a bit short but that's understandable given the time constraints, and I'm interested to see how this framework could be taken further given additional time.

Also, I can contribute somewhat towards diagnosing the control issue; from my end it seems that WASD and the up/down arrow keys are fine, but the left and right arrow keys seem to be rotating the player rather than moving it - if you tap either key and then try to move around the player moves relative to that rotation, resulting in the diagonal movement. Hope this helps!

Sheep enchanter by jsmtux 2014-12-08T17:10:00

A simple but engaging concept with plenty of potential for expansion into a larger game, and an interesting graphical style to go with it. A little rough around the edges in places (pathfinding, the lack of a win trigger, being able to sneak sheep up the hill behind the trees at the back and the left hand side etc.) but still entertaining nonetheless :)

5NAKE by ThunderCodes 2014-12-10T20:18:00

I liked that you added a number of new features to distinguish this from every other Snake game out there, though the rockets could be a bit awkward at times when they would spawn right in front of me with no time to dodge. The graphics are a little hit-or-miss, but that's understandable given a 48-hour deadline. Nice work!

Path of Alterity by Sartemis Smart 2014-12-10T11:29:00

Very much enjoyed the graphics and the music for this. It did feel a little awkward at times when I would die from merely being near a spike, but on the whole this is a very interesting and entertaining game.

LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Unconventional Typing by cravingsleep 2015-04-30T17:00:00

An entertaining concept, albeit a little repetitive given enough time - a little more in the way of audio, effects or additional gameplay features (I'd also echo the need for some way of preventing button-mashing) would likely result in a decent game :)

Cooper 32 vs. Doctor Dynamo by rnlf 2015-04-20T19:44:00

Some of the jumps are a bit unforgiving, the AI detection can be a little hit-or-miss sometimes and the dialogs had a habit of vanishing before all the text had displayed, but overall I still found this very entertaining :)

PS. It's possible to sequence break the game somewhat by jumping up into the escape route inside the base before you've set the bomb, and this can pose a problem if it then triggers the checkpoint beyond that point and you try to go back the right way.

Decrepit Lord of Charge by HolyBlackCat 2015-05-08T15:58:00

I didn't immediately identify that the characters and spikes would kill me, and the death screen lasts a bit long unless you think to try and move, but beyond that this is a very clever and entertaining game :)

Get Them Fed! - by Effinjay Studios by Kassimkot 2015-04-22T10:38:00

Quite an entertaining game (I liked the game over animation), though I do feel the movement control was a bit inefficient - in order to attack the enemies I have to be looking behind me, which means I can only click a short distance ahead of me rather than off in the distance as the control system implies.

HYPER DELUX BINGO QUEST STORY by 23 2015-05-08T16:39:00

Took a few goes to get into the swing of it (is there a particular strategy or is it luck based?), but enjoyed myself once I started winning :)

The Rapture Vacuum Cleaning Madness by Ildfuglen 2015-04-20T17:33:00

I liked the graphics and particularly enjoyed the soundtrack. There doesn't seem to be an awful lot of replayability at present, but it still kept me going for several games regardless and has a lot of potential for expansion. The rate of meteors could possibly be turned down a little bit and it gets a bit tricky to find any targets once the meteors hit most of them before you get there, but on the whole a solid game :)

Throw Bottles at people you don't like! by Jajo 2015-05-08T16:19:00

The music is a little repetitive and there were a few issues with the sprite borders, but on the whole this is a fairly solid concept with a lot of potential for further expansion :)

Bottom : Unconventional Weapons at bug scale by SuperUserNameMan 2015-04-30T17:10:00

An interesting concept, albeit a little short and with a few fiddly controls (was a bit tricky to rotate through the 1-unit width gaps, and it wasn't immediately clear if I should be able to move down the side branches). Definitely potential for expansion here.

AntsAreBad by MrSchlag 2015-04-20T17:43:00

Fairly simple but entertaining nonetheless. I particularly liked the implementation of the car controls, but for some reason when the game launched my screen only displayed the top left corner of the game with the bottom and right sides cropped (I'm currently running 1440x900, it might be the game is trying to render a larger size image).

Genesis by ftvs 2015-04-20T19:04:00

Some of the levels were a little repetitive and I'm not sure how closely it ties into the theme, but the platform mechanics show promise and with a few more features and levels I reckon you'll have a solid game. Nice work :)

LD33 — You are the Monster

Patient Zero by Hunter X 2015-08-24T10:38:00

Thanks for the review fuzzalicious! The blue cubes are phones - if a human is near one after escaping the zombie/zombies they will use it to contact the police rather than going to the police station in person.

LD44 — Your life is currency

RogueLife by Gipzo 2019-04-30T12:50:41Z

A fun game - I liked the procedural level generation and how the map expanded as I moved through the rooms (though I did end up having an enemy spawn right next to me as I entered one room). It felt like the enemies took a few too many hits and the powerups felt somewhat rare, but the graphics and audio were simple yet nice. I did also notice that the aiming seemed a little off if I tried to shoot while moving, but it felt more like a bug somewhere than a design decision. Nice work!

Lifeless by Kaisean Games 2019-04-30T13:45:17Z

Got 99.4% on the button, then went back and sat on it for a full 15 minutes and still only got 99.67% -_-

An interesting take on the theme with plenty of polish and a range of puns of various quality - as one of the other comments mentioned I could easily see this ported to mobile :)

Conway's Currency by klianc09 2019-05-08T11:49:24Z

I like the concept - having to carefully consider where to place your items in your inventory isn't something I've seen in many games before. I did find that I rarely had enough coins to use the potions or buy from the shop, but this might just be due to me placing them badly, and there seemed to be a lot of enemies on each floor relative to the amount of health I had available. The graphics are simple but well-made, and presented a nice consistent theme to the game. Good work!

Death's Favourite Marble by rhythmlynx 2019-04-30T13:07:43Z

A fun game, if somewhat unforgiving at times on some of the jumping puzzles - the fixed camera angle and the slightly strong momentum made it a bit hard to judge where I was going to land sometimes, though the glide upgrade helped. Lots of potential for expansion here, nice work!

Galaxy Explorer by jondalnas 2019-05-01T21:08:38Z

I like the concept - the physics engine for moving between the planets was fairly well done as well, if a bit slow to take off from the planets and a little too zoomed-in to navigate fully. As one of the other commenters mentioned the definitions for each building could be clarified a bit, and it seems like there's a lot of sitting around waiting for resources to accumulate at the moment, but it should be easy to rectify that with additional buildings, upgrades and gameplay mechanics in the future. Nice job!

Overworked by MsAlison 2019-05-01T12:21:07Z

A good first concept, with a lot of polish on the graphics and artwork. There's plenty of potential for increased difficulty over time with different types of boxes or even multiple tasks to perform, and it even feels like you could make a rhythm game out of it if you wanted by syncing the boxes to the music. Good work!

Deathless World by Adrien Dittrick 2019-05-01T15:53:24Z

A fun concept; first multiplayer game I've come across in here so far. I feel like there's a lot of potential for future expansion by adding additional ways to interact with your neighbours, since once you've got a decent layout set up there isn't much more to do at the moment. Perhaps there's also potential for larger maps with more simultaneous players as well, though this might reduce the personal aspect of the game interacting with the other players closely. Nice work!

StuckInStocks by MrSchlag2 2019-04-29T20:47:23Z

An interesting interpretation of the theme; it did take a few goes for me to get a handle on what I should be doing, but once I understood the mechanics I enjoyed playing it. It does feel like it's harder to recover from low health than it is to maintain/increase high health, but that could be alleviated somewhat by the earlier suggestion about a decent upwards trend at the start of the level to teach people how to play and to build up their health. Overall a fun game with plenty of potential for expansion - perhaps drawing from real live/historical stock graphs?

StuckInStocks by MrSchlag2 2019-04-29T21:18:16Z

I was wondering why there was such a noticeable loading delay there, very nice :)

EXO by Firesplash Entertainment 2019-05-01T21:48:18Z

A good start! I liked the eerie atmosphere of the graphics and ambient audio (the alien models were surprisingly creepy), though some limited music wouldn't go wrong. Decent use of applying the theme to the tower defense, though it could possibly use a little balance tweaking in terms of damage done to enemies and the amount of health restored each round. Lots of potential for future expansion here, nice work!

Clock of Your Life by JestemStefan 2019-05-01T12:40:05Z

An interesting concept, if somewhat unforgiving; not sure I managed to get above 40-something hours on any of my playthroughs. It was a little confusing at times trying to keep track of which bars needed to be maximised and which needed to be minimised, as well as which bars each button would affect, but on the whole the game does a good job of conveying the intended message (even if that message is rather depressing).

Evil Current by raoz 2019-04-30T12:36:53Z

An interesting puzzle game and a very unique take on the theme; the last level felt a bit fiddly having to click two of the nodes in quick succession, but the magnetism physics effect was well done and there's lots of potential for additional puzzles/mechanics to be implemented in the future.

Roboxery by cozmic 2019-05-01T11:50:08Z

I like the concept; while a lot of these Sokoban/ice maze style games only have a single objective, this has a few different tasks that need to be completed. I did feel as though the timed box spawns didn't mesh great with the puzzle-like nature of the rest of the level - once all the scaffolding is in position it just becomes a case of sitting around and waiting for boxes to spawn so you can gain enough energy and make it to the output container. Perhaps this might be solved by instead having a fixed set of goals for each level and a limited number of 'moves' to complete it, which can be increased by reaching the batteries scattered about?

The audio and graphics were a good fit, and there's definitely a lot of potential here. I look forward to seeing how it progresses in the future!

Slime Guy XI by Titanium900 2019-05-08T11:59:32Z

A good start! I liked the the effect of the slime coating the level - are the gaps in the floor intended to be walls/obstacles? You might wish to add some form of auto fire option so the player can just hold down the mouse button instead of having to click it constantly, and a few different types of enemies would certainly help to increase variety. Not a strong connection to the theme for this specific event, but there's still a lot of potential for expansion here in the future. Keep it up!

if(life) by sundhar 2019-05-09T12:09:17Z

A good start; I like the idea of being able to hit multiple targets with the same bullet, though it felt like the enemies had a little too much health and drained your own hit points very rapidly if they came into contact with you (perhaps consider adding a knockback and temporary invulnerability to the player if they take damage). It would be interesting if some of the enemy types moved in ways other than taking a straight line towards the player, and the system for navigating the tutorial was a little confusing - it took me a while to realise I had to drag the screen instead of clicking something. I liked the art style of the game, and there's definitely a lot of potential for future expansion here; keep it up!

BitGrid official release by Kiril 2019-05-01T12:10:37Z

A fun concept with plenty of potential for future development - logistical games are often something that I enjoy. It could definitely use a few more items and a way to destroy/replace old ones, but I'm sure those are planned given more time. There were a couple of times were I got a game over screen seemingly without warning - I'm guessing it was due to to a failed rent payment (even though I had around $300), but it ought to be a bit clearer when you're in danger of losing. I liked the graphical and audio styles, though the music could really do with being a bit longer so it doesn't loop as often.

I look forward so seeing how this progresses, nice work!

LIFEPOWERED by hawec 2019-04-29T21:16:06Z

Good looking game and very fun to play, if a but unforgiving at times (though this probably wasn't helped by me forgetting I could kill the circle enemies and trying to get through past them without losing any health I needed for later). I liked the concept of adding/removing health and ammo, and there's definitely potential to implement that in puzzles in the future beyond just requiring a specific number of containers to access a particular area. Felt like the respawn animation took a little long for a game where you die this frequently, but on the whole I enjoyed playing :)

MONGR by minor_gods 2019-05-01T21:25:03Z

Fun game with a lot of polish! I do feel like there's potential for expanding the game mechanics somewhat beyond just grabbing as many items as fast as possible - perhaps making the humans react to your presence (either on the small scale by running away from the cursor if they see someone abducted, or on the large scale by eventually deploying the military to try and drive you off), or additional objectives in order to unlock new recipes/contracts. Nice work!

Escape from the Bank by KreGames 2019-04-30T12:28:19Z

An entertaining concept with plenty of potential for future expansion - I liked how the maze is procedurally generated so it's different every time. I did get stuck to the walls fairly often, but I think there's a friction value in the Unity material settings somewhere that might help to alleviate that. Nice job!

Get Me My Drones! by floxy 2019-05-09T12:19:24Z

A solid start. The idea of visualising your ammo by way of the drones circling the player is neat, and potentially losing them due to glancing hits is an interesting mechanic (if a little on the strong side due to the sizeable area of the drone cloud and the large numbers of attacks on-screen). It was a bit hard at times to see where my attacks had gone due to the moving background, but otherwise the art style was quite pleasant. A few bugs here and there, but certainly nothing that can't be fixed in future updates :)

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Isurium by Franklins Ghost 2021-05-15T17:00:37Z

I like the art style, and with a bunch of extra things to click on in the scene it could be easily developed into something like those hidden-object children's books. A good start!

Altum by tigerfinch 2021-05-10T22:04:07Z

A good start! You definitely achieved the sense of swimming through water as opposed to just flying a plane through the air, and I liked the different terrain styles for each level (I did clip through the floor at one point but I think that's more the game engine's fault than yours). With a few additions like more variation on tasks the player needs to perform/hazards they need to avoid, and a bit of polish to the control scheme, this could definitely shape up to be a decent game!

Daré Fortress by luthwyhn 2021-05-16T12:40:16Z

It's a good start, though I had the same issue other people mentioned regarding the game crashing (I think this might have something to do with all the dwarves starving due to lack of food/drink). For future additions, you might want to add some information to the season progression screen providing a summary on what's changed, and it's possible a method for automating trades so that you can ensure a regular supply of food without having to do it manually each season would be useful. Good work!

Deepest Sword by Strega 2021-05-01T01:38:36Z

An interesting concept and a very well-polished final product! Did find it somewhat frustrating fighting against the physics at times but I imagine that's the point of these types of games, and it ultimately didn't make the game un-fun (though I imagine a longer version might result in a few broken keyboards :P)

Depth Gauge by Solrun 2021-05-10T21:50:05Z

A fun game! The system for moving in and out was interesting, and it's neat to see the path you took through the cave as the rope hauls you out. The text did all appear too large and overlapped with one another (I'm guessing something to do with Unity's UI Scale Mode settings) and possible areas for adding more to the game later would be increased difficulty as you go deeper or more types of upgrades, but it's still fun regardless.

Deep Mine Ventures by PatrickRMC 2021-05-16T13:01:48Z

Nice work! I like the art style and the dynamic lighting was neat, though it felt a little slow at times mining blocks repeatedly. If you were to expand this in the future you might want to consider adding a way to earn back health, and I feel like there's potential to use ore tiles of increasing quality to block access to areas of the map until you have the right pickaxe.

Digging In by Fis 2021-05-04T16:20:08Z

I love the art style for this game (though the diggable ground could possibly use a little bit more variation to it) and the gameplay was fun, though there's potential to have the difficulty increase as you play (currently if you know how to do it you can continue indefinitely) and it took a bit of time to get the hang of the controls - my brain expected the direction to be set through the mouse's position relative to the player as opposed to setting the angle purely from the mouse's horizontal screen position. Nice work!

Crushing Blocks Till You Drop by Jonathan Lorenz 2021-05-15T17:19:32Z

A fun concept! Reminds me of stuff like Mr Driller where you have to choose which blocks to mine carefully. I'd echo some of the previous comments about using Ctrl to jump, and some of the physics was unusual but not necessarily bad (like being able to bounce the blocks into the air by jumping beneath them) but on the whole it's still enjoyable :)

Block Attack by Emperor Eagle 2021-05-16T12:48:08Z

A good start! Gives off a retro/arcade feel and I like that it gradually gets harder over time instead of just remaining constant forever. Did notice that the score system means that some rows you'll score more than others, but that's not necessarily a bad thing (and perhaps also rewards players for getting through narrower/fewer gaps in the row).

Down - The game by zubspace 2021-05-15T21:14:37Z

The initial concept is fun and there's a lot of potential for future additions here! Might be useful if the workers would head to any targeted tile instead of just ones close to them, and there were a couple of cases where they would get stuck in a side corridor when using the rally tool (interesting way of defining movement; I'd be interested to look in the source code and see how that was handled), but aside from adding more objectives/variation it's a pretty solid game. As a side note, the game did freeze a couple of times in the post-jam version when using the rally tool, but I'm not entirely sure what caused it (possibly something to do with nearby combat?).

Riches Await Below by Hunter X 2021-05-15T17:33:46Z

Lot of comments regarding the gameplay speed; my intention was that things would start slow and as you hired more workers the efficiency would increase (balanced by the size of the mine increasing) but it looks like it's not playing out that way for people.

Would you say this is more a case of the starting speed being too slow or it taking too long to increase it? If the starting speed were increased, are there any methods you can think of other than just increasing the potential size of the mine to allow hiring new workers to have a noticeable impact?

Thanks for all the feedback!

Awakening by 8BitCharlie 2021-05-04T16:01:36Z

I like the Spectrum aesthetic and the puzzles were well thought-out in needing to go back and forward between the levels. On the other hand, I did notice that some times it would be possible to 'overshoot' the teleporters and end up on the wrong side compared to where you need to go next (needing to teleport back and try again), and while I think I see what you were aiming for with more of the music playing between each level by the last couple of drops it just becomes a case of sitting around for several minutes and waiting for the next level to appear. Still, on the whole it's a solid game, good work!

Keyboard to the Depths by QYOUK 2021-05-15T16:54:19Z

The game was fun to play (and prompted some bizarre finger positions) and I like the minimalistic art style. Obviously more levels would be great, and I'd echo some of the previous comments regarding the difficulty curve and jump distances, but on the whole it's a solid proof-of-concept!

Deep Dog by DevNoob 2021-05-04T16:08:39Z

A good start! Potential areas for improvement would be to add more types of obstacles and/or make the existing ones progressively harder as the game continues, and also a slightly longer loop for the background music (though giving players the option to mute it was a good addition).

Journey to the Center of the Mind by JavierDega 2021-05-15T17:11:57Z

I liked the concept of having to switch strategies between landing on the platforms to reduce your speed and having to avoid them when you reach terminal velocity (though I generally found I'd usually do one when I'm trying to do the other). Keyboard controls felt a bit sensitive, but on the whole it's a fairly solid submission :)

PICO-8 Hexagon Topology Generator (updated version) by evn 2021-05-04T16:27:30Z

An interesting tech demo - always neat to see people doing fancy graphical stuff with limited hardware/software such as the PICO-8!
