LD24 — Evolution

Untitled Tower Game by chuchino 2012-08-29T00:58:00

This was pretty good. Fairly difficult, and jumping from chains seemed a bit sticky. I only got to the level where there's a monster shooting across the room at the top and you need to climb the ceiling chains while dodging his attacks, because I ragequit. The graphics were above average, and the controls (barring the chain jumping) were pretty solid. As for the concept, I didn't really get far enough to experience it, but it's a cool idea.

Stickman Evolution by chaosBrick 2012-08-28T23:55:00

This game is so great! I was laughing my ass off the entire time. Those animations are spectacularly hilarious. I'm not quite sure how this pertains to evolution, but it's great regardless.

Bitolution Love by tronster 2012-08-28T23:36:00

I'm not sure what 'artsy' means, so I can't necessarily comment on that. The music was really repetitive and the clicking/moving sound is so horribly annoying. Gameplay was really mediocre even as a concept; the first two or three levels were basically the same(I don't even remember how many because they were so similar), and the last two levels I played were exactly the same but with different, really bad graphics.

Sorry if I offend you, I'm trying to be honest with my reviews. Good effort, though.

The Silver Spire by charliecarlo 2012-08-28T05:16:00

Hey, thank you, jprogman.
And no that is a stupid error brought on by delirium, there's an alternative download if you actually want to beat the game after choosing double jump first, but please judge the original entry as it is with bugs and all.
And yeah, the music is a bit of noise, distorted chords and digitalized percussion tossed together in ~5 minutes.

The Silver Spire by charliecarlo 2012-08-29T00:39:00

Thank you, everyone. :D

@QualityAssurance Yeah, I was originally planning on having 2 enemies per area, with the exception of the boss area and hub area. So there was to be six different enemies, but towards the end I was so tired I could barely even think. It was around that time that I designed the enemies, that's why they're so primitive and poorly drawn. If you took a look at their scripts I'm sure you'd find horrendous things going on that don't even make sense.

The Silver Spire by charliecarlo 2012-08-29T09:51:00

What evolution were you? If you were the final form then the food bar shouldn't even show up and you should be unable to eat. Though the food increases by increments of one, so I set it to trigger evolution when food = foodtnl. Therefore, if you hacked in increments larger than 1 then you may have broken something.

The Silver Spire by charliecarlo 2012-08-30T06:21:00

There's five food pieces in the first area that you can only access with double jump. I suppose it's not that obvious.

Evolve and Build to be Able to Code by cardboard 2012-08-28T22:59:00

It was alright.
I liked the music.
It was a bit short, though, which is understandable.

Space Ham by FunByJohn 2012-08-28T23:08:00

This is pretty fun.

Gapaos by mipi 2012-08-28T20:14:00

I don't get it. I had no idea what to do. You can shoot yous, but what are you supposed to shoot?

LD33 — You are the Monster

The Legend of Piatã by DrZanuff 2015-08-25T14:34:00

This is pretty interesting, as far as runners go.

There was an text that read "Text" at the top corner of the screen I'm not sure what that was about.

Trullskoll by charliecarlo 2015-08-25T13:05:00

Thank you for all your wonderful feedback! By the way, if you want to learn some things from my code, I support that! But be aware that a great many things in there are hastily designed, possibly broken, or made in a very simple way in order to save time.

By your request I have made a post-mortem blog on this site.

Colossus Guard by VampyVampire 2015-08-24T21:04:00

I like the design of the character. I got stuck at a point where there were so many archers I couldn't let down my guard for long enough to even move forward.

de-monstration by aprotasenya 2015-08-25T16:04:00

This is surreal and funny, I enjoyed it. I like the monster design. I played through twice, the second time trying to tickle everyone into the castle, but the two blokes in the top right corner absolutely refused to have any of it, so I wasn't able to finish the game like that.

The depths at which things are drawn are all screwy, it bothered me. For example, losing your legs behind a text box but still seeing your torso, or seeing people's faces through your own face.

Shape-Shift Escape by keyboardmonkey 2015-08-25T14:50:00

The puzzles were pretty straight-forward but I enjoyed it.

The Monster Within by S0lll0s 2015-08-25T13:55:00

It was fun although I didn't really like the mechanic where everyone turns into ghosts; it requires some ridiculous amount of memorization in order to get a good score, so I just ran around punching everyone indiscriminately.

Antimon by ViKing Games 2015-08-24T18:24:00

It doesn't seem like they are trying to catch you, just trying to beat the crap out of you.

HUNGRY CTHULHU by KodingNights 2015-08-24T18:58:00

The batch file didn't open the game for me, but the java file did. I'm on Windows 7. As well, the game crashed for me when I went into the building in level one. The graphics definitely leave something to be desired but I like your interpretation of Cthulhu.

Kaiju Mash 33 - Epic Return to Vehicle Smashing by imalerich 2015-08-24T19:10:00

Why are the controls so horribly slow? I'm not sure if it's an issue with the game or my computer but the game doesn't react to input for nearly 10 seconds. I like the graphics though.

Dungeon Dweller by Zammalad 2015-08-24T19:39:00

Hitting R appeared to kill the character occasionally. Not really a game, but it has some potential if you're planning a post-comp version. I respect the procedural generation and the effort.

Old God by Damian Elkins 2015-08-24T18:40:00

At first I thought it was a top-down game until enemies started falling down. Enemies have way too much hp and no visual indication of actually being damaged, which unfortunately discouraged me from trying again when I died. Kudos on the visualization of the old god character, though, it's really neat and reminds me of Hermaeus Mora from TES.

Hello Dear Friend by ruthiepee 2015-08-24T19:32:00

$5 for a textbook. This game definitely gets a 5 for humor.

Laser Monster Defense by hexabeast 2015-08-24T18:31:00

This is really hard with a trackpad, that's not a criticism just a comment. I respect the top hat.

Mazeotaur by Killbert 2015-08-24T19:50:00

Very simple, I wish you could strafe left and right, as it was hard to navigate with a track pad.

Monster Corp. by elmoGames 2015-08-24T19:56:00

What is love? (baby, don't hurt me... but seriously what is it?) A neat idea. Felt really weird tearing the blanket from a child. I wish I had a dozen guards protecting me while I slept, that'd be pretty cool.

Spiritbound by LoHii 2015-08-25T13:40:00

This is pretty difficult. I was pretty excited when I managed to get on top of the rock, only to be really disappointed there was also a whole tree in the way. Then I saw a guy in the clouds and just gave up. I like the graphics though.

Vendetta! by keddelzz 2015-08-25T14:00:00

This is a really cool idea. I hadn't realized how rough the ghosts had it in Pac-man; this is pretty hard.

Snake Strike by steve 2015-08-24T20:25:00

This is excellent. I'm not sure if there's a way to take damage or anything, but I had fun playing around with it regardless. I like your graphical style, it's an efficient mix of good looking versus time required.

Harold - The Overly Destructive Flying Monster by Ethan Allwood 2015-08-25T16:13:00

Very simple and arcadey, I like it!

This certainly has a lot of controls to juggle, though, and I struggled playing it with a trackpad.

Monster at School by Togimaro 2015-08-25T14:13:00

I have an English/American keyboard so I had to be player 2 in versus mode to play properly. That's not a criticism of your game just a comment.

The game is pretty cool, I like the idea of it but the mechanics seem a bit shallow and repetitive in it's current state.

I now have a French version of .NET on my laptop, though, so that's pretty cool.

Forgotten Husk by CrunchyKingCrimson 2015-08-25T16:19:00

I enjoyed the premise and mood.

Became a bit easy for me when I realized you could just stand on people you knocked over. Although, the seventh guy I did that to managed to throw a knife at me while I was standing on him and I flew off the edge.

Shadow of the Monster by jaksa76 2015-08-25T13:49:00

Pretty neat, reminds me of Agario.

I got an error in every level about the lighting being "built", but I see you already know that.

Werewolf Quest by Yrr 2015-08-25T16:46:00

This is a solid little platformer. Probably the most fleshed out game I've played so far, I played it all the way though, excellent work.

Jack vs Werewolf by marom 2015-08-25T15:32:00

I figured out who the werewolf was, managed to get him alone in a room, and when I clicked to kill him I accidentally killed myself somehow. Why is that a feature? Or am I misunderstanding what happened?

Other than that, this is pretty cool, I love games about hunting werewolves though, I've even made one, so I'm probably biased to like this.

As it is though, it could use some work. Animations, better controls, maybe another way to identify the werewolf.

UFO by Polyganz 2015-08-25T15:02:00

This is awesome! I love how the ship moves around before flight is fixed, it's hilarious. I'd like to see a version of this with more polished graphics and puzzles. Good work.

CEO by Skoggy 2015-08-24T19:24:00

At first I didn't think this fit the theme, but after dying several times I skipped to the end by holding the right and up arrows I discovered what the plot was. Incidentally it no longer was relevant since I didn't kill anyone that time around. The game's pretty fun and I like the graphics.
