Fits the theme really nice and is a good idea, the controls make the game really hard though, post-compo version is much better to control.
Nice game! Was a lot of fun, and surprisingly large amount of levels. Certainly feels awesome when you clear a room full of enemies in a single N.O.D.E. Chain. I wasn't quite sure about the dash though, it didn't really help me at all.
solid game; I always enjoy games that blend well known concepts in a way that creates completely new types of puzzles. Graphics could look a little nicer but are of a coherent style. The animations should be shortened a bit IMO so you don't need to wait so long between keypresses.
Extremely cool voice acting, nice art, funny gameplay.
Innovation not so much, rather generic interactive novel and no real choices.
There's almost nothing to critisize here, maybe the "HUD" could use some work (the hearts).
Really really impressive game! The mechanic turned out to be a lot more fun than I initially expected and the puzzles were perfectly matched as I learned. Look like a great deal of polish went into this, really makes it shine.
It also feels really awesome when you draw a perfect ramp and the sled just flies right off into the target :D
Very nice mood and well presented by the music. Sadly no theme relation at all IMO. The twist and repetition in the end make this a nice unit, but the build-up and mix of the two rather common puzzle mechanics are well-done too.
Graphics could need a lot of polishing and lack a common theme, but the per-tile-lighting gives an interesting effect.
@masterboth: we started working with just that "wallbangs only" idea and very worried it would turn out boring or very easy all along, but were really happy at the sudden fun-factor that emerged when we came up with the curving and playtested it.
We could've used some more time (and we would've had some more actually) but I decided to sleep in long and not hurry too much as my finals are coming up. I will definetely build a post-jam version with a longer "campaign" and some tweaks (plus we are getting a custom soundtrack!)
@GlowingSnail: The bullets fly for a set time, not range. You can charge that time up to multiple seconds. Whilst outside of a wall they live infinitely (except for the last second)
Only seeing a black screen in Chrome (running Arch Linux) :/
description sounds interesting...
Like others have said, very floaty controls. Aside from that a great entry, definetely very cool mechanics with a lot of potential. I do think a little more polish would've been possible.
nice, unusual concept. Well conveyed atmosphere and neat graphics concept, looks like a cross-stitching. I managed to get to about 180, what is up with the game-over counter though? It shows 03:214:84 for me (I'm guessing the second counter doesn't get modulo'd properly? Should be 03:34:84 then)
Nice looking and good mechanics. The movement needs improvement though, It feels weird to turn and the walljump is a little weird. Oh and you can jump off the map btw
Very interesting mechanic, but I think it needs some more limitation or it get's too easy (just run around killig anything with the invincible light-weapon, you don't even need to throw it).
The music builds a nice atmosphere but the game would profit from enemy sounds etc.
Funny game and nice intro graphics! An ending would certainly help, as would sound.
Well-conveyed mood and nice music. Gameplay is rather innovative idea and well executed, a lot of fun to play too!
Frankly, i had a very similar mechanic for my LD#28 game: http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-28/?action=preview&uid=28620
Art style is perfectly executed, gameplay not entirely clear to me... how do I dodge the water? Why doesn't anything happen when I touch the door?
Not rating anything but Theme & Graphics because I feel like I missed something like an extra button - an introduction in the description woudl've been nice.
audio didn't play for me, so not rating that.
Aside from that really cool game, love the graphics, feels neat. Weapons could use some more innovation. Neatly polished!
Epic music, great art and nice idea. Also very fitting altogether, conveys a great atmosphere.
The cart is a great idea, but there should be a way to retrieve it when you push it too far into a corner.
Having narrated audio is a plus, but ingame sound effects for attack and taking damage are missing, feedback would really make this game more fun.
Controls felt really nice and the graphics looked great (plate-ammo swinging behind is a perfect touch).
Could use a real menu (or at least a "click to start" and controls overview) and an actual game-over screen.
5/5 for graphics, audio and mood, amazingly coherent presentation. Great atmosphere!
Started three times now, the first time I got a potato, the second time the shield spawner, impossible to do anything with both. The third time I got the fish schooler, which also seems highly useless because of the absolute lack of control (the fact you have to hit twice also doesn't help); I pulled through and got a potato as a second weapon again... Well made game, rather polished, nice graphics and audio but the weapon balance did not make it fun for me.
The graphics are really nice and it's pretty fun too :) Could see an iOS version becoming popular easily
Very funny and complete game, great job!
This is incredibly fun! I like the integration of the theme too.
It took quite a while until it got dangerous to walk around, even scaring and feeding on everyone.
Interesting and fun graphics, controls feel a bit clumsy and non-reactive. The "newsflash" headlines at the end were a nice touch.
The game seems to crash when I interact with the TV and Radio. Not going to rate it right now with crashes but I like the art style a lot :)
in Beast mode everyone looks the same, you cannot differentiate between enemies and friendlies anymore - you only see souls to kill. As the beast your attack range is higher and you can lunge forward to eliminate enemies more quickly.
charliecarlo, that is exactly the intention of the mode; you turn into a berzerking beast and just kill anyone, regardless of whether you should. That's why there are two scores and why your "evil side" probably won that round :)
a lot of fun, a mechanic I havent seen before and one of the most polished games I've seen this LD.
really liked the graphics and the mood, but the controls were a bit clumsy and the levels were too hard to keep me motivated to play through after at least 30 attempts in the third level.
Very impressive! neatly polished, fast-paced, feels alive and looks and sounds absolutely great! The colors of the village houses etc. could have a little more contrast to the background, it is sometimes hard to make them out.
Also, as a fellow LĂ–VEr, this was easily changed, but you should try to stay away from Z and Y as control keys, a lot of european keyboards move them around.
hahaha the sound is absolutely hilarious!
I would recommend using something like love.math.noise to have smoother movement for the characters. Also when you click fast things start to break a little.
Very nice graphics, smooth gameplay and well-polished. A soundtrack would have been cool of course.
Gamer started out running fine but then crashed a bit into the actual game, also running Arch Linux :/
Really fun as well as looking and sounding nice, but wasd instead of clicking would have been better controls
It's funny at least :)
Very cute! When the people are on the map borders its pretty hard to scare them into the water though. Is there a win condition? Managed to get to 140000 on the second try.
The art has a cool style and the slippery controls of the car work REALLY well with this. No sound was a little dissipointing but it was still pretty fun
It is a bit blurry in parts but the graphics could have a very cool style if polished a bit more. The idea is interesting but hit boxes are quite off on some things. Not amazing but has potential to be pretty cool if worked on further!
Same, only a white screen on Chrome/Arch Linux.
The linux downloads ask me for a decryption key...
The music fit really well with the game and it had nice souind effects. It was a cool twist on match 3 I haven't seen before.
5/5, this is perfect.
very cool. The graphics and sound effects are awesome, it is polished to the max and plays well. I think I kinda suck at it though, scored 99 in the end :D
@joemid: yup, we are aware of this and a few other bugs and are going to fix them tonight-ish. They are pure crashes caused by hurried map-painting...
Is there a video available somewhere? Would love to check it out on Linux or Windows.
Great for a first game, especially a jam!
What I would recommend is to change the enemy spawns, right now they sometimes spawn very close to you making it impossible to dodge them.
Just to clarify for everyone who didn't find the end:
you just walk to the right and after you clear the other houses there is one looking like you, if you stabilize yourself on that the game ends.
We found the level terribly hard to actually beat, so I suppose most of you have gotten stuck somewhere before that, but our level doesn't read very clearly visually I guess.
Pretty Cool, although I couldn't play it with someone else yet.
Do you know the game lethal league? It's quite similar :)
