Why does it quit the application when you die? That's such an annoying choice you made there.
Fantastic. Loving the oldschool Nintento palette.
Sadly I'm unable to get past Day 10, despite several attempts. Seems I'm not cut out to be a pirate.
Is there some sort of goal to this? Would have been cool to see it developed a little further.
Bring on the brown torch
Such an odd mechanic, yet it works well. I do feel that it is far too slow to begin with though.
Would have been nice to start at level two when I die on it.
Amazing, laughed so much whilst playing this. My only gripe is the garish colours.
Also, damn, that leaderboard is tough to get on.
Wow.
I feel that an additional rule of some sort would help sharpen the gameplay a little, it's easy to soft-lock each other into a stalemate. Also, some ambient audio would be lovely.
Great presentation and execution though, really enjoyed this.
Far too loud. Interesting idea though, amazing to see so many ways of having interaction on a single dimension this LD.
This is pretty solid! One of my favourite LD entries thus far.
*Damn you, orange circles!"
The music was too loud, though it sounded ok. Appropriately titled! High score would have been cool. Very fun.
Jokes. The voice overs rock.
I do like the atmospheric entries.
Very chilled out. The sound effects and ambient pads are great.
This is great, I love the firing mechanic. I do feel that the player moves a tad too fast though, I found it hard to make accurate movements and mostly resorted to swiping from side to side, ha.
Very pretty and innovative.
Wow, Pong on crack! Found it really challenging, which is awesome. Great work.
Wish I'd picked hard mode first time round, neat little entry.
Indeed, we had time issues since I (reluctantly) had to work my day job during LD, so we had a deficit of around 24 man hours. We all agree about the mechanics, the first level was originally intended to be a tutorial that introduced the abilities.
Thanks for the criticisms and praises thus far. I do have sketches for 2 more levels and a breakdown of how S.A.M gradually diminishes, and we're considering finishing the game proper.
Oh, the trick to 'floaty boxes' is to use others to stand on before firin' the lazor, though there are a few that are unbreakable 'dummies'.
Neat little concept, it'd be great to have a chilled-out game like this to chip away at. On my first try the map generated spikes blocking the path, so the level was impossible to complete.
The Mac version worked fine for me (actually one of the few jar files I've tried that did!)
This is very playful, the music is really apt and inspirational.
Wow, that was amazing! I love the sense of exploration, even in the second part when you have to figure out what the hell is going on (which fits perfectly with the story).
This is awesome. Audio, graphics and challenge are all top-notch.
Nice use of moody two-tone graphics.
This would be much more fun with more responsive controls. Neat idea.
Neat game, enjoyable to line up combo hits. Especially fun to create a circle of death and lead the enemies through.
Thanks for comments. Bugfixes are being worked on, the only issue left is the collision bug that deletes the boomerang. Due to the physics this is proving tough to fix, but we've narrowed it down the culprit function. New binaries should be available in the next day or two.
Fun game, decent 3D graphics for LD.
Cool game. The penguins are awesome!
Hey guys, thanks for all the comments so far! We found a couple of esoteric bugs, we're working on a patch.
@Night :
It seems that you are running an old version of löve. This line calls the window module which was added in 0.9.0, I'm guessing you have 0.8.x installed? If you're on Arch the latest version is in the arch repos, for Ubuntu and friends you can use Bart's ppa at:
https://launchpad.net/~bartbes/+archive/ubuntu/love-stable
Or else grab it from https://love2d.org
This is great. The balancing seems just right. Would love to have this in another game such as Battlefield where the loading takes a long time.
Also the arcade vibe is really cool.
It's nice to see something like this. The audio was great, really enjoyed it. The difficulty ramps up a bit too fast though. Looking forward to getting to the last level.
I don't feel that there is a game here, however I do feel that this is a fantastic piece of interactive software. I find it difficult to describe because it blurs the ludonarrative boundaries, kinda like Facade. Very immersive, and the lighting system was very well implemented.
The mechanics are a bit finicky, but everything else is great. Very high quality audio/visuals for an LD entry though the perspective makes it a little tough to determine where might be a good place to hide.
Very nice adaptation of the QWOP 'genre', however the addition of so many controllable elements makes it so much more difficult to play. That said, I love the inclusion of rocket boosters on the feet (it would have looked great with some particle effects!). Fun!
I couldn't really play the game properly because all the interactive elements seemed to be offset from the visual positioning.
I had a really strange issue where the camera would rotate clockwise on its own constantly so I wasn't able to fully experience the game. Didn't rate, but what I could discern seemed interesting.
Quite enjoyed this entry. The mechanic of not being able to recognise friend from foe in 'beast mode' is very clever. Really enjoyed playing with that mechanic. Audio was a little overpowering, but sounded great and created a tense atmosphere.
Certainly controversial! My high score was 98! It was pretty difficult overall but is a complete entry with a win/loss game loop and runs on 3DS! Wow.
Thanks for all the feedback guys!
Also, to Wertle, thanks for your insights. I actually watched your stream, glad you enjoyed it. The level design itself was a little rushed and done by our lead programmer. I did actually include an north-facing cave entrance tile but sadly we never got time to re-design the maps. Our focus was more on getting the idea across, which I think is something you hit on.
Thanks again!
Really short with little substance. Feel the the idea could be built upon further.
Very impressive, good to see Love3D actually working with models, collision and all that jazz. Also, having translations available is incredible for an LD entry.
Annoying controls and fairly short, but had a lot fun playing this entry! Control explanation would have been helpful :)
Really like music and the graphics but I felt like there could have been more of a difficulty ramp, it was initially very difficult.
@scorched have you tried setting your keybinds in the main menu?
