LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

respire by zillix 2015-04-23T01:21:00

This game is absolutely fantastic.

Fascinating and original gameplay, great unconventional weapon, fantastic visual/audio design and atmosphere. Very mysterious and dangerous.

A little frustrating at times, but overall the game is wonderful. The [R]elease part was a thrilling moment.

A Big Freakin' Ball O' Hurt by LMT 2015-04-26T04:27:00

This is good! Those rope physics are FANTASTIC.

It could be better if the contacts (hitting enemies, getting hit) weren't just dissolves; they need to be sharp and punchy. Sound would help. Also, the hatboxes are a little oversized.

All in all, though, pretty darn fun!

Nuclear Autumn by phi6 2015-04-23T00:48:00

Nice atmosphere, camera and graphics. I love how big it is, and the physics are perfect. Dynamic music is very good, too.

However, there appear to be fake-difficult elements and a general lack of conveyance... I got stuck after receiving the scuba gear & gave up because there appeared to be no way out. Other comments tell similar tales of user frustration.

All in all, nice work on a game with lots of potential, even if it doesn't quite reach it.

Red Threat by rjhelms 2015-04-23T01:31:00

Pretty fun, very retro. Not an incredibly original execution, but the concept of using information as a weapon is fun. Nice work!

Toaster Defense by ETHproductions 2015-04-22T07:02:00

Solid mechanic here! I enjoyed straddling the line between ultra-powerful shots and burning myself.

Music is great, but presentation is rather poor. Not the point of games, though. All in all, nice work.

P.S. thank you so much for helping me on Firefly Gun's flash embed :)

Super Bye Bye Bot by GenericTeamName 2015-04-23T00:55:00

Not a huge fan of this one, to be honest. The controls were sluggish and sloppy, the audio and graphics were uninspired, and the dialogue-combat thing, while a very interesting concept, involved no strategy whatsoever. Sorry fellas, just being honest.

Hanami - Push-Up Farming by Beavl 2015-12-17T06:13:00

Excellent, unique concept and incredible polish. Difficult to grasp initially without any in-game explanation. Once understood, however, the game becomes a silky smooth ride down nude push-up contest flower farming lane.

Agent Hooker by Phoenix849 2015-12-17T07:36:00

WHOA this is the most polished game I've ever seen come out of a Ludum Dare. That game feel! That soundtrack! That puzzle design! It's super challenging once the lasers show up, but the pace is so quick (and the death reload is over in the blink of an eye) that I can't stop playing. Incredible job, guys.

33 grams by martincohen 2015-12-17T07:20:00

This game has ambience to spare. Incredible art, incredible music, incredible game feel, and most importantly, a creative flock-building hook that feels super satisfying and challenging at once. My only gripe is this: the game is TINY! I want to play it in fullscreen but can't. It's hard to appreciate art when you're squinting at it. A fantastic, fantastic game!

The Story of the First Ants by Category5Kawaiiju 2015-12-17T04:11:00

Really enjoyed the story aspect (drawings were fantastic and occasionally hilarious), so much so that I forgot why I was watching it, because I had forgotten it was a game. Voice acting was very well measured and delivered. The game aspect of it was less than enjoyable, however, and while I enjoyed the tie-in to the story, it didn't keep me coming back. Again, excellent work on the majority of this! But in the future, maybe weave story and gameplay tighter together.

Concrete Jungle by Miltage 2015-12-17T07:09:00

I see Concrete Jungle as less of a game, and more of an interactive work of pixel art. It feels absolutely incredible to play, between the perfect physics and the shuddering organicism of the vine itself as it grows. It also looks incredible, with detail and scale and colors all hitting just the right notes. The time-lapse effect puts the plant's perspective front and center. Again, not much of a game (in terms of accomplishing objectives), but sometimes the best games are made out of things without inherent objectives. Insanely good work here, man.

Shaman Flower by SaintHeiser 2015-12-17T06:16:00

Agh wish I could play it, it looks so cool and sounds so deep. Web or OS X version soon??

Arc by ChuiGum 2015-12-17T06:45:00

SUPER hard, and I'm terrible at video games. But an incredibly creative concept, brought to a polish not usually seen in Ludum Dare games. The GUI when you lose is beautiful and different. Crazy (and awesome) music that fits the crazy gameplay. Some feedback (like a sound or screen shake) would really aid the game feel when you lose, though. All in all, a solid game. Nice work!

OrbiHop by TnT 2015-12-17T05:52:00

An excellent and mind-bending puzzle game with some incredible physics at play. Got a little tiring after awhile, though, and I think it's due to its slow pace (which could be sped up by making planets spin quicker, the ship fly faster, or simply by adding a 'speed up' button). Love the trajectory path, and zinging around black holes is super fun. Nice work overall!

Twin Condition by jackrugile 2016-01-04T03:53:00

Insanely good game design here. Beautifully difficult.

REVERSE BULLET HELL

Nah but seriously, you might be on to a brand new genre here. This game had a great take on the theme, and it got so absurd so quickly I had a grin on my face the whole time. The weapons could use a bit more punch, and some chunky sound effects and screenshake or something might help polish that game-feel a bit. All in all, I loved it, nice work!

Reap by managore 2015-12-17T06:32:00

Hey Daniel! I'm a huge fan of yours, having played (and loved) Roguelight, the Sun and Moon, & Birdsong, and I cannot express how important it is to me that you release a web or OS X version of this game! I want to play it so bad!

FLOW by Romixal 2015-12-17T06:49:00

Sad that the web version isn't working for me, I was looking forward to some nice ambient gaming here.

Scruples by Serg 2015-12-17T04:19:00

I appreciated the simplicity of this game! However, the collision detection was very padded and I died a lot more than I think I should've, simply due to false collisions. That being said, if you were to speed this game up and fix the collision issues, it could be a lot of fun! Nice work overall.

Zunus by Jonathan Whiting 2015-12-17T05:26:00

This is probably my favorite LD34 game so far. Excellent dialogue, lots of wit and character to everything here. Perfect graphic consistency and I loved the minimalist designs of the stations. Cool names, too. Controls were difficult, but I think mostly that was because of the low framerate (which looked intentional, idk if it was). This was the most fun I've had doing fetch quests since Ocarina, so hey, there's that

Charge! by randomhuman 2015-12-17T06:00:00

Not incredibly theme-based or innovative, but a very good feeling game with a ton of polish. Killing is fun, defending is SUPER fun when you time it just right. And I love both the random phrase generator at the beginning and the snark at the end. Nice work!

Green Blocks by Flip120 2015-12-17T04:25:00

I enjoyed the concept! In practice, it was a bit tedious, but definitely worth taking and developing more upon. Solid physics, fun music! Nice work!

EXPURGET by xodene 2015-12-17T04:44:00

Crazy game. I love how different the art is, and the story leading up the gameplay was cool. The gameplay itself was a little random and imprecise for my tastes. The "It is trying to give up?" joke at the end was easily my favorite part. Nice work overall though!

Venus and the Flies by fractalbear 2015-12-17T04:32:00

I enjoyed this game a lot! It felt very satisfying to chomp my way through clouds of flies with my ever-growing jaws. I got HUGE, and could really feel the weight dragging down on me. Wish there was some indicator, though, how close I was to death at any given moment. Maybe a gauge or something at the bottom. Anyway, loved the low-poly style! Nice work incorporating both themes so well, too!

Auxochrome by yuotta 2015-12-17T05:03:00

I enjoyed the boss's taunting! I didn't enjoy the tedium of my woefully ineffective attacks, or the constantly-shifting size and jump abilities of my character. Giving the game more conveyance could really make it excellent! The graphics were pretty cool too.
