Firing up the game now!
It's been ages since I made a Mac app, but can't you bundle the library inside the app?
Lol epic!
Lol nice voice over! A solid entry in all areas. Could have done with some variation in the combat, I got bored pretty quickly.
Crashed on Mac OS X Lion :(

Hooray it works on Mac now!
Nice concept. I especially liked the discrete movement branch where you flipped the mechanic on it's head after getting the weapon. I think that idea actually fit the name/theme better because it was one environment but finding the weapon totally changed the way you approached it and you suddenly had to adapt.
I agreed with Aceria at first about the slow controls in the platformer branch, but actually if the controls were more 'normal' it would have just been another platformer. As it is I found myself actually having to learn something new and think about what I was doing.
The other two were ok but not quite as fun. Good job overall :)
Oh dear. On Mac it just sits there bouncing in the dock.
After downloading the package it just gets stuck on a white screen for me. Mac OS X Lion.
Awesome concept but it gets sooo hard! I thought this game used a similar skill to what you need when programming melodies which I do quite a lot, but then the mutation was so fast and large that I couldn't keep up.
I still enjoyed it though, definitely one of the more innovative entries I've played :)
I really liked this game! But it is a bit grindy! It would have been just as fun if it took less food to level up. I completed in 13 minutes 33 seconds - by the end I just left it running on it's own - the game could have done with a bit more challenge after a few levels maybe.
Good job!
I actually really enjoyed this even though it's more of a toy. Some goals and a clear ending would be great. Still not sure if I discovered everything or not. Maybe have a list of what you need to create and then tick it off when you discover them.
Did you confuse 'evolution' with 'evasion' ? :S
Wow this game is just completely insane! I don't think I really 'got it' but the concept was really cool. Been using Unity for a few years now and I have no idea how you did that!
With a bit more time and thought put into giving the game some objectives this could be great.
More interaction would have been nice, but at least you know your environment now. I hope you work on this some more!
I just couldn't get past the room behind the red door :(
Considering you did that without an engine in javascript that's pretty impressive! I didn't really get what I was supposed to be doing though. I seemed to make progress without actually doing very well.
Yep super hard! Couldn't even get past the being a line (trackpads suck *sigh*), but I found it fun nonetheless. Good job
Really very good. The procedural level generation is awesome, but I think making the first few levels hand-made would be better at teaching the mechanics. This could make an excellent puzzle game with more work!
Lol pretty funny but the cutscenes went on for aaaaages! Found level 2 unfair because there wasn't enough food spawning and just didn't get level 3 at all.
Got stuck on the 'era of changing' :S
I enjoyed it up until the ending where you made the cat walk really slowly. It was really painful getting across that last level, I guess you wanted to make me experience what a slow painful death is like? It was good because it had a cool meaning, but I'm not sure I enjoyed it :D
A great little concept! I found it very difficult however because I could never find enough food to stay alive. With more work I think this could be a really nice game.
Awesome idea!
Good thing you made a tutorial because the controls were really quite complicated! Agree with mdkess, not knowing how well you were doing made the whole thing quite confusing.
This is a great looking game. I couldn't get past the spear guys though, they throw spears too fast! That coupled with the fact that you go all the way to the beginning again (and have to sit through the cut-scenes again) meant that I didn't get very far.
Just couldn't find any way to get past 26m :S
I liked it. Great graphics and the controls worked well. Got a bit boring after a while though because nothing really new was introduced.
My score was 1395 :)
Ahahaha you so are a troll, but in a good way! I liked the way it was the gameplay itself that evolved. I also like how you didn't allow killing bunnies. Unfortunately I stopped there because it was so hard! I did get to the end once, but I didn't know I had to pickup that thing so it just said 'game over'. Felt a bit unfair because I'd completed the challenge. Didn't manage to get their again.
Overall good job!
@sgehlich oh damn, did the kittens just refuse to eat the fish? The AI is kind of supposed to be a bit 'dumb' because kittens are kind of dumb. The challenge is to coerce them into eating the fish by dragging them towards it if they run away.
I know that the smallest kittens are hard to click, that was intentional to add a little bit of extra skill to the game. Placed fish never goes away so don't worry about wasting money on it.
Thanks for all the great comments guys :)
@axcho you can sell the kitties you don't want :)
agreed on the colours, i only kept them like that cos my girlfriend said she liked them :P
I didn't really feel like there were any goals, so I didn't really feel compelled to do anything. The simulation part is great but I wasn't asked to explore it and see what was possible.
I found this really difficult because bullets shoot forwards, but you need to run away from enemies to stay alive. I wonder what it would be like if the bullets fired backwards.
Just got stuck at the end of loading for me :(
I too couldn't figure out how to replenish hunger. Also, the first time I played I levelled up much faster than the others, so that was confusing.
Very nice, good fun if a little bit easy to win. Multiplayer would definitely be great fun.
Did not manage to find a single bandage, hence bled to death quite rapidly. Having to hold down to investigate an area becomes a bit tedious as well. It was pretty to look at though, and the sounds worked well with the mood of the game.
Didn't really get it. Do you have to eat the purple things to be able to jump? The level design could have been better if that was the case as it just led you downwards but then you couldn't get back up again. a small flat room filled with just enough enemies to enable you to evolve and get the 'jump' so you could escape may have been better.
The mechanics and simulation were great, but it needs some sort of goal to keep you playing.
Lololololol I loved the ending!
Thanks for all the nice comments guys.
@jillytot - strange, I assume you have the Unity3d plugin installed? Worked for everybody else.
@laaph - I don't know. I only sourced the raw audio. All the music composition, effects on the raw audio etc are done 100% by me. The source audio is royalty free. To me, what you're saying is kind of like saying it should be a jam entry because I used Unity3D which is programmed by others...
Nice idea, but imo the difficulty starts off too high. Would have been nice to start with some less deadly puzzles, or at least not reset back to the beginning when you die.
Awesome! This is easily the entry that addicted me the most so far. Really nice mechanic for creating spells, I just wish I understood how it worked a little better e.g which gem controls the firing pattern, which controls the damage type etc. Nice job!
That was awesome! I made to it to level 50 before losing. Great work!
Nice use of the theme and a solid little platformer. I got 6/15 and I'm proud of that! :D
Nice idea and nicely executed. Well done!
Very nice, good job on thinking of some unique weapons. I actually ended up getting the Fragmenting Gun to work forever without me even having to move!
Maybe the enemies could spawn a bit quicker considering all of the weapons work better when there are a lot of enemies alive.
