Very nice concept! A little confusing, but went great with the theme! And I loved the audio, did you play it yourself?

kralle 2012-08-27 02:59

Yea i played it myself :)

I like the idea, but in practice I found it too difficult to get my guys to the other species before they all died out. There also wasn't a very strong visual difference between them. This seemed more like a meta-style game (more sim-like) than a hands-on one. Could be a good pick-up-and-play type game for the ipad.

I don't really get it. All the blue creatures seemed to just kill one another & I couldn't figure out how to make them do anything else (I did read the instructions, FWIW). Loved the acoustic guitar though!

Didn't really understand what I was supposed to be doing. A clear goal would have been nice.

I'm not entirely sure how to keep my lifeforms alive, I've tried digging to expose food blocks, but my creatures still die out anyway.

Well done, that's interesting!
But I really struggle to get them to survive. It feels like I'm missing a bit of control somewhere.

Between the acoustic music, the mining, and the whimsical graphics, this reminded me of Dwarf Fortress, very much in a good way.

I wish I knew more about how the game worked, though - am I supposed to dig out the green blocks (which I assume are food), or leave them there for the creatures to eat them? I tried both methods, and everyone died of hunger really fast, regardless of what I did.

I feel like besides that, this game is quite interesting, for something made in 48 hours. Definitely do something with it post-comp; I'd love to see this idea further fleshed out.

The idea seems good, but I couldn't figure out how to make 'em not starve to death :(.

barry-abrams 2012-08-28 12:52

Loved the music. Not quite sure I understood the game.

papygaragos 2012-09-01 10:06

So basically, you dig tunnels between your colonies and kill the aggressives one?

m-gryko85 2012-09-05 09:15

Well done, that's very interesting game but I'm not really sure understand what I was supposed to be doing

You seem to have put various good ideas into this game, unfortunately either I didn't get how it works, or the gameplay lacks some active interactions and feedback on their consequences.

Too bad, since the game seems to be an interesting blend of things like Dungeon Keeper, The Sims or Dwarf Fortress. Also it seems like you have produced a quite impressive amount of work in here, given the minimap, etc. So what you came with in 48hrs is pretty cool, only the game is not very fun to play overall.

For the next LD you'll join, my advice would be to take some time to put yourself a bit more in the shoes of the player - and maybe make some friends test the game before the 48 hours end - and I'm pretty sure you will come up with an awesome game.

Appreciate the idea and having to create a path for my species to follow could be really interesting. Seems like it has some nice potential!

kralle 2012-09-14 14:40

simply didnt have enough time, and also my goal with the game wasnt that clear
