Parasite Quest by Hatscat 2012-12-22T22:27:00
Cool idea. I couldn't figure out how to stick to a board to switch rooms. Controls felt great.

Cool idea. I couldn't figure out how to stick to a board to switch rooms. Controls felt great.
Cool concept. Like the art and sound. Dr spandex is hilarious. Controls around stairs are a bit janky. Otherwise great!
Cool experience, got stuck hiding the knife for a few. Felt like the transition to being the murderer was a little sudden, would have liked a bit more lead up to that.
Good start. Wasn't sure why I was losing pace to villagers while just running. Would love to see them jump properly. Needs more gameplay elements. Add some audio.
Concept is cool. The controls are pretty rough. Scroll was inverse of what I expected, and took too much effort. Placing units felt like it could have been 1 click instead of the extra buy button. Overall good work - keep it going.
I like the art and the concept. Audio would be nice and some form of AI. It's pretty rare to have 4 people together in this setting, so being able to enjoy it as one person is imperative.
Very nice work. Very impressed for the time frame. Fun and challenging. Go stuck at the streets level.
Art is great. Music is good. Kept loosing battles before investigation caught me. Would be great to see a little more direction while in game.
This is very fun. It looks great. Hard.
Nice work.
Super fun! I like the mutater the best.
Pixel art is amazing. Concept is great. Controls are smooth. Feels like a real beat-em-up. Would love to see you take this concept further. Nice work!
Great start! Wasn't sure why, but the yellow guys didn't have any effect on me.
Mechanics are cool. Like the style. Like the sound. Like the graphics. More depth would be cool.
Cool. Like the graphics and the idea a lot. Finish it!
Like civilization, but with goats. I could make goats a bit too easy.
Cool, I like the art. The physics could use some work. Nice work.
Cool. Concept is neat. Had a hard time controlling and getting it to do what I want. Graphics are fun.
Wanted to check it out, but java. :(
Looks good. Felt clunky trying to play. Good work - just keep refining and get gameplay to match the rest! :)
This was very awesome. I loved the lighting, the graphics. My favorite was how the ground bumped when it was blown up - nice touch.
Fun. Change in difficulty midway through was kind of jarring. Like the theme and setting.
Love the sound effects. I couldn't figure out how to leave the first room, any hints?
Cool concept. Petting the cat was great. Actually taking out the enemy ships was a matter of just waiting for them to cross into the line of fire. A bit more challenge would be awesome.
Nice work!
It's pretty cool. I didn't realize at first that I was to fly the pyramid so I almost quit because I couldn't move. Once I was up, it was great. Noticed that input seemed to be frame based instead of time based, it played quite differently when there were more things going on.
Interesting concept. The interface was rough. Didn't like that I couldn't go over to the toolbar to the right without moving the map. Wasn't sure where to start. Continually ran out of money. Cool concept - could use more work.
Amazing. Like the shift. Wasn't sure how the storks fit in. Space as a transition and a mechanic made me skip parts like the fight, because I was hitting space to make the dialog go away, but it progressed the game. Traffic was infuriating. It was just like real life - the other lane goes faster.
Very difficult, awesome new idea though! Cool graphics. Great work!
Liked the papercraft.
Art is cool. Fun. Going up into the building and up to exit it are in conflict. Couldn't figure out how to climb the roof after finding everything in the basement. Loved the music, sad it didn't loop.
Like the concept - good work with the time given. Movement was dreadfully slow, I kept getting stuck in the walls. Liked the music was like a dance party mine.
Worked for me on Web. The numbers flying out were awesome. Some strategy in cornering and attacking things would be awesome.
Very cool. Loved the idea and style. Wish there was music. Great work.
I like the concept. The w key notify would interfere with the results often times, would be nice if it went away when I was already examining. Liked the transition to madness. Not sure at the end what was really going on.
Too bad it was unfinished. I like the art style, wish there was animation. Breaking the door down was fun.
Fun. Like the announcer. Content could use some work.
Great first game. Keep it up!.
Concept is really cool. Graphics are great. Very challenging. Sound fx need some work. Movement outside was a bit slow, esp. when you had to go completely around the house. Difficulty ramped quickly.
I have no idea what I just played, but it was awesome!
Super fun. I love when the ship blows up - it makes me smile. If I would have happened upon that, I may have shifted focus to be anchored on that.
I like it. Couldn't see what was coming off screen so it felt a bit random. Like the mechanics of building up momentum and getting larger.
The basic idea is cool - I had a hard time navigating around. I would have liked the ability to resee what was happening or something similar.
Cool game. Very simple and fun. Music doesn't seem to match gameplay, but I was grooving.
Nice work!
Super fun. Love the art. Unique concept. Very fun.
Awesome. I like vacuuming money from people. I wish that was my job. Wish there was music also. Music and vacuuming money from people.
Nevermind - realize there is sound. speakers were down. :(
Loved the idea. Love the music and audio. Bravo.
The ship made it through - would love to see more progression, like killing a series of smaller ships instead of one long monotonous boss. Great otherwise!
Neat idea. Cool graphics. Couldn't figure out the best placement and got stuck. Would love to see better pacing. Looks like there is a bug if you are zoomed in and then click to restart, the graphics scale down, but the window doesn't.
As Luca found out the red trees explode to spread fire. There was a time when it was tuned to where this mattered more than it does now. In the end, I found the most fun just trying to keep building trees in front of the fire, so that's where it ended up. :)
Thanks for the feedback everyone! This is definitely going on my list of things to explore further.
@George - thanks for checking it out - water and fire require power to be used. Water can't be placed during the first day for pacing. As an aside - Duke3d is the game that made me go buy one of those crazy PC things back in the day which ultimately led to it being my full time job. It's cool that you've stopped by and played one of mine. :)
Thanks Gornova!
WRT to theme: I pushed the limits of the theme a bit on purpose - I wanted to make a game where you had to be good (planting trees) and evil (burning trees); without being evil you'd die. You are forced to be villainous to survive.
There's some analogy in that to the modern meat industry (don't get me wrong, I love meat), but I thought going directly with something like that would be a bit too on the nose.
@Pierrec - awesome! Glad you are enjoying it!
You stop the plague by starving it. Either surround it with rock or fire and it will starve out.
Fun. I liked the jumping puzzle and the hidden path up.
Great start! Would love to see some goals or challenges.
Great mechanics. Love the idea of a guy becoming the enemy. Like the audio and voice over. That takes courage.
This game is amazing.
I love the way he jumps. I love the sound. Bouncing from person to person is very fun. Nice work.
Didn't know exactly what to do, but figured it out.
Very impressive for the time allowed.
No audio on windows. It was fun. Like the idea - reminds me of clue.
Web version doesn't work for me?
Fun. Liked the music. Could use more audio. Running into things was janky. Kept getting caught in stun lock basically running into the same thing over and over. I too was reminded of Potty Pigeon on C64!
Splatted. Funny.
Having to install the redist made me sad.
I love me a brawler. Graphics were good. Audio could be better. Music was missing. Overall the game was alright - got super repetitive about midway through. Would have loved different combos or something.
The music is amazing. I really liked the game.
Progression was a little slow - it would be great to have more options. Great work.
I like the graphics. I wasn't quite sure where to take them - it felt pretty random. I like the explosions.
Nice, pretty. I wasn't able to kill the player after playing for a bit, but it's impressive for LD.
Really like the controls. Switching between left/right is intuitive.
Fun. Wish I could do something to push back the chicken rather than running. Controls aren't perfect yet - keep refining. Concept is cool.
Awesome game.
Few rough things around the edges, but amazing for 3 days.
Cool concept. Like the reproduction aspect. The additive music is great.
This is amazing. Nice work. Playing as the referee was awesome!
Okay. This game is sick.
It makes an interesting exploration as a typing tutorial. Love the way the characters hop to walk. Love the transitions between screens. Wasn't sold on the music at first, but it took hold of me. Great work!
Cool. Don't like the sounds on the menu - specially back. Really like the mechanic of inheriting power from princess, wish I could toggle between them. Controls were confusing - but I adapted. Art was great. Overall, good work!
The AI is great. Would love to be expansion on the idea. Love the retro look/feel and the homage.
I like flicking them around!
Love the mood and graphics. The controls are a little spotty, would have preferred a more traditional FPS or point click scheme.
Cool idea. Wish the camera and motion were smoother as you stepped from tile to tile. Reference old school RPGs from square, they've got this perspective and style downpat. The music was great. The concept was very cool. Spent a long time before I figured out to click to shoot.
Really cool. Liked the music. Keep working on this and expand it!
Rad idea. Love the concept of an inverse bullet hell shooter. Could use some work on the implementation. I had a hard time figuring out who I was controlling and what I could do. Once I figured out how to shoot, I still got smoked right away. Liked the art and audio.
Cool idea. Couldn't figure out the coding part. The flashing screen was too much.
I love the graphics in this. Wish it was finished. It has a super cool vibe.
Would have liked a bit more control. Liked the concept.
Very nice. Surprised at the depth. Liked the challenge. Great pacing. Nice work.
Cool. Reskin of simon. Liked the audio. :)
Concept is really cool. Had a lot of problems with the controls. Space and shift were only registering for me like half the time - some kind of key buffering problem?
Great work! I love the concept and the satirical approach to the theme.
Looks great. Very much like the audio and visual. Crazy immersion.
Cool idea. Liked the concept. Could use a bunch more work. Keep it up!
Very challenging, but fun.
I like it. Would love to see it fleshed out more.
Cool concept. Very interesting. Didn't understand at first, but when I got the hang of it it was very fun. Nice work. The sounds seemed out of place - would be cool if they were more with the theme.
Cool concept. The music was cool. Pace was a little slow at the start. Loading time was longer than I'd expect - the page was blank for a good minute or so on both versions - I eventually got the html5 version to work. Wasn't sure at first what to do. Wasn't sure when I got hurt.
Cool concept. Getting it done in time is great. Not sure about the theme. Would love some hints or tips and ramp up as it went on. Ran into a few walls. Wasn't sure why I needed soldiers. Audio would have helped.
FYI - you can disable the right click popup menu in the deployment settings for Unity Web. Look online.
Cool game! Liked the lightsaber mechanic. Didn't understand if I was fighting old versions of myself or what?
Very cool. Love that the AI tries to figure it out. Interesting approach to gameplay. Level start sound was pretty grating.
Great concept. Like the art and audio a bunch. The twist rocks.
This is amazing. Great job!
I can't play this because I don't have a droid. I wish I could. It looks awesome!
Very cool. Super fun. Graphics are great. Controls could be much better.
I like it.
Very cool. Liked the theme. Would have loved some intro to the attributes, but I figured them out. Liked the nod to WKYK. Good work!
Cool. Pulled in by the 10s video. Liked the style and art.
Here because of the 10s video. Very cool. Love the perspective and art. Looks gorgeous. Fighting was a bit hard - I kept dying in the second room. Great work!
Super cool. Liked the theme. The narration is great! Controls were tough to get used to, and overall it was a little unforgiving, but this is a great entry. Nice work!
Haha, super cool. Liked the theme and totally wasn't expecting the gameplay. Great work!
Very cool. Love the style and graphics. Like the character flowing across the pixels. Really wanted sound. Took me a while to figure out to backtrack left. Nice work.
Very nice. This is truly excellent. Great work for 48 hours. Here because of the 10s video and how great it shows. Nice work.
Very cool, got 981. Love the graphics and the audio. Especially the walking people. Didn't think the balloons would hurt me. The controls were a bit more touchy than I would've preferred, but still managable.
Very cool. Really liked the mechanics and the simplicity. Could spend much more time in this. Liked the art, sound, and physics. I'm jealous - I was originally planning to go physics based, and you did it.
Couldn't connect either. :(!
I like it. Some of them are a bit frustrating. Really wanted audio. Graphics and narrative are good!
Like the art and audio. Loved the intro. Cool use of theme!
Sick. This is really cool. Great work! Love the music fade in, the mechanic, the style, and the polish. Excellent. I was pulled in by the 10sec video just based on how it looked.
Cool idea. Liked the challenge. Surprised myself a few times by getting more than I thought I would. Found the movement a little hard to predict, it was a bit fast. I was guessing more than I was deducing when to shoot.
Excellent. Looks amazing. Great work. Pulled here by the 10s video.
Super cool - got to 5 rooms. Very very fun. I was pulled in by the 10s video and the visuals, very nice. The controls were a bit touchy, I felt like I had to ram back and forth some to get it feeling good. Great work!
The combat was great! I loved the simplicity. Loved the art story, and audio - it all went together well. I agree with VacoF - might be cool to have a penalty for miss clicking. Reminds me of my entry - a rhythm like game. Check it out!
The art is amazing, the physicsness to the art style is great. Here because of the 10s video. The game was pretty hard, I had a hard time getting anywhere.
Scored 165, made level 4. Liked the simple gameplay - cool take on whack-a-mole. Very responsive. Wasn't sure what french fries or colors signified. Good first entry!
Very cool. The tool tips are a little messed up. Once I got past that I really enjoyed it. Liked the balance of power. Didn't understand what Blink would do till I used it - could have used more of a head's up. Liked the art and audio. Great work!
Very interesting. Liked the concept and the toy. I am an artist! Mood, art, and audio are outstanding. Keep it up!
Super cool. Loved the idea. Addictive. Very difficult. Had trouble with loose controls a bit, never felt fully in control.
Okay. This game is sick. I didn't realize until the 3rd time through that I was playing rock, paper, scissors. This is a great wrapper on it and the polish is obvious. Impressive work.
Thanks for the awesome comments everyone!
@thristhart - yeah. The music is definitely a sore spot for me. I used iNudge and did my best to pull it together, I would have loved to integrate it better with the mechanic and have better tunes, but I'm happy with where I landed given my skill and the time.
@gilmore606 - you nailed it. I made the audio, so I knew the timing. Just played with timing until it 'lined' up.
Thanks for the feedback guys!
@r3d5 - totally agree, that just fell off the list :(
Hey tankete - that's intended but not messaged well. When there are two options, you have to choose one. I need to work on my message delivery. :)
Whoa, cool. I love the atmosphere and story.
Super cool. This is awesome! Great artwork. Got stuck on the push down level and didn't see how to restart until coming back to page - would love to see those hints in game. Great work! Overall, reminded me of die by the sword. :)
Very cool. Love that it pulls in everything else.
Whoa. Instant action. Very difficult. Would have loved some teammates or a ramp up to that difficulty. Good job!
Whoa. The graphics on this one sure are pretty. Loved the style. I really want more!
Interesting. I didn't really know what was going on. I would have loved some kind of instructions or hints as to what to do.
Very cool. Love the narrative and the music. The gameplay is good. Pulled here by the 10s video. Nice!
Cool. Good start - it might help if it was a little easier at the start and there was a tutorial. Joystick and keyboard both worked for me, after I figured out the controls.
Cool. Love the concept of edit mode. Reminds me of my #1gam game Blocktion that I did a few months ago - http://www.chriswilloughby.net/blocktion/. Liked the controls. Liked the music. Fit the theme. Good job.
I liked it! Loved the little wagon train and the tank pulling it. Liked that you got more levels in. Got stuck on collision a few times, including behind the scoreboard. Wished the dudes on the wagon disappeared to when I lost villagers. Good first entry!
Cool. Like the ideas and approach. Controls were very touchy. Camera lag was noticeable. Liked the decisions and audio.
Dang, this is really cool. It taught me two things. I don't know how to grow things, and I am not patient enough. Love the audio and procedural nature. Great work!
Neat. Would have loved a bit more speed. The graphics and concept are cool. Liked the art. Keep it up!
Hilarious. Love the voices. Got stuck on the third level. Great work!
Very cool. I also chose to do a life sim, but it turned out very different! Couple of bugs - got a code error after getting in the car and got stuck completely when I got to work, couldn't progress any more. Love the art, audio, narrative, and theme. Excellent.
Cool. Very atmospheric. Wasn't sure what the rainbow things were. Also wasn't sure why I couldn't go in the door. Liked the art and music.
Cool. Very relaxing. And minimal. Was frustrated at times by the side bounce. Liked the audio and sound, mechanics were great!
Very cool! Like the theme and the gameplay. Was hard to tell sometimes if I was going to get hit by the asteroids. Great first entry!
Super cool story. Love the execution. Was hoping to get turned loose with the mechanics. Got a bit frustrated on the back and forth room because I felt like I was supposed to do something else. Great work.
Cool. Liked the idea and story. A few rough spots, but very cool. Liked the change-up at the boss fight. Figured out half way through that I could skip the enemies.
Nice! Very innovative and unique!
Cool. Super minimalist. Liked the different color elements. Some were definitely more frustrating than others. Narrative was good too.
Okay, this is awesome. I love the story, was waiting to see what the catch was, and went in a circle a few times before landing on it. The ending made me say whoa. Nice work!
I like it, kind of has some rhythm elements to it like mine. The level select screen was a little confusing - wasn't sure how to start. Audio and graphics are good.
Cool! Liked the concept and the art. Loved that I could recognize some mario elements. Felt awesome to break through a bunch at once. More variety to this would add a bunch. Good job!
Cool. The spikes are brutal. Wish I could touch their sides without dying. Like the art and audio, good work!
Cool idea. Didn't understand at first but I got it after a bit. Loved the audio. I was completely caught off guard by the positional audio, nice. Graphics and atmosphere were great too. If I could change anything, I would stop the orbs from fading, it could be frustrating to backtrack. Great work!
Very nice. The graphics were sick. Absolutely nuts for 48 hours. Well done.
Very, very cool. Pulled into this by the 10s video. Moody. Amazing art. Controls are a little wonky - would get caught on stuff, wasn't sure what I could interact with. Keep working on this. I want to keep playing it!
The style and art are great. The audio is cool. Transitions are awesome. I found it to be pretty much a crap shoot at most times. Here because of the 10s video. keep it up!
Whoa. Very cool. Loved the atmosphere. Liked the graphics, audio, and mood. Very sobering. Fits the theme very well! Excellent work.
Cool! Very minimalist. Would have loved a sense of momentum on the bed(?) over the binary switch of gravity or up. Cool take on a classic.
Super cool. Loved the lighting. Liked how you introduced the mechanics. Liked the variety in audio. Controls felt just a bit too loose, I had to nudge forward more than I'd like. Great job!
I like it. The crowd is super cool. Neat concept.
Cool idea. Tried one game by myself. Would have loved an offline or bot mode. Good start!
Liked the idea and concept. Hard to move a bit at first, but ultimately cool. Good work.
Awesome. This is great. Love the progression - was confused a bit that the ball was still going when it switched to flags. Loved the visuals and sounds. Pulled here by the 10s video. Excellent!
Cool mechanic! Liked the ass! Wish the linking was a bit more free form - had troubles sometimes knowing if something would stick.
Hard, but interesting. Very cool. Liked the style and subtle animations on the box. Loved the feel of death. Music and audio great. Good work!
By the way, you landed on a similar theme to me! Check my game out to compare notes! :)
